Barack Obama Could Make Time for Europe … But Could Not Make Time For US Wounded Troops

Barack Obama is supposed to be running to be the President of the United States, not the Premier of the EU. How is it that as PowerLine states, Obama had time to go to the gym and sightsee in Berlin but canceled his visit to see wounded soldiers in Germany. Doesn’t this say quite a bit about one’s character? John MCain has put out a political ad stating Obama did not visit troops because he could not bring a camera. That may make a dent to the anointed one’s image.

Obama’s canceled visit to military hospital sparks controversy

Who said Obama, the chosen one, had to bring a camera to visit the troops? He could have easily just done the right thing and visited the troops without the spectacle and fanfair. However, the trip was nothing but political. Obama has yet to learn that being Presidential means doing the right and just things when the cameras are no where to be found like thanking the wounded young men and woman, the heros of the US military.

A top aide to Sen. Barack Obama said Friday that the campaign canceled a visit to an American military base in Germany the day before because the Pentagon expressed concerns that it would be viewed as a campaign trip.

The incident is representative of the delicacy with which the Obama campaign has attempted to navigate the Illinois senator’s entire journey abroad, at once staging elaborate photo-ops beamed back to the American media while at insisting that Obama’s trip is not a political one by definition.

What a sorry, disgusting low life piece of poop OSAMA Barack HUSSEIN Obama TRULY IS!! HOW DARE HIM PASS UP THE OPPORTUNITY TO VISIT WITH OUR WOUNDED WARRIORS IN LANDSTUHL!! He was too damn busy kissing up to the Europeans. He is so dumb, he doesn’t have enough sense to realize the Europeans don’t vote in our presidential elections…

    2. sparrow on July 27th, 2008 9:31 am

I will not vote for obama. I am more concerned everyday about our country. God Help us.

    3. david r on July 27th, 2008 10:32 am

I read the reason he cancelled was because he couldn’t take anyone in there with him. Probably needed someone with him to avoid the gaffes that are becoming much more frequent. Instead, he took the safe road, going around yelling “Tear down those walls!” What a sorry demagogue he is. Another “quick fix” Democrat, like Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, etc.” Let’s try someone with real experience who does more than just mouthe soundbites.

    4. katablog on July 27th, 2008 10:45 am

Barry’s latest spin is that he didn’t go because he couldn’t take his “military adviser” with him. What? Barry’s afraid to talk to wounded troops one on one without an “adviser” in tow?

When will people wake up and see this very empty suit who is all about photo-ops and “sounding” and “looking” like he thinks we want a President to sound and look. Someone needs to tell Barry boy that it substance not pandering.

    5. brie. on July 27th, 2008 10:59 am

He is a disgusting piece of s~~t….he’s right there and could not visit the troops without campaigning or taking his cameras in….what a snot…the only reason he made the trip was to go over there and sling his crap. So now he will say he has experience in foreign affairs….I so, so dislike him not to mention the fact that you can’t believe anything that comes out of his mouth…He is a living nightmare…

Just couldn’t care or show enough concern or respect to thank our troops in person….those that are protecting us with their lives…he is a complete piece of trash….!!!!

    6. brie. on July 27th, 2008 11:26 am

Obama doesn’t know to talk off the cuff…what did he need a military adviser for…poor excuse…

He had time to go the gym but not to see our wounded…it’s all about Obama and his arrogance and ego….

    7. SteveDinMD on July 27th, 2008 12:36 pm

Obama wanted to bring his whole entourage of advisors and political operatives with him during the proposed visit, accompanied by the multi-media press corps covering his campaign. Federal law, however, prohibits use of Federal installations for partisan campaign purposes. Obama was therefore told that the hospital would be pleased to have him visit the troops, but his party would have to be limited to himself accompanied by a modest number of Senate (i.e. non-political) aides. Political operatives would not be allowed to enter, and neither would members of the press. Obama’s visit would, however, be recorded by military photographers and the footage made available to him and to media. Upon hearing these conditions, Obama quickly cancelled his visit.

The obvious implication is that the permissible format devalued the prospective visit in terms of its political benefit to Obama’s campaign. That being the case, Obama crassly decided to turn his back on the wounded soldiers and devote his attention to more politically productive undertakings. Obama simply doesn’t get it. It shouldn’t all be about HIM. A visit to the wounded should properly be about THEM. It should be about expressing gratitude for sacrifice. It should be about lifting the spirits of those who are suffering. It should be about reminding all Americans that freedom isn’t free and that our way of life ultimately depends for its existance on those who defend it. Finally, it should be about learning how best to care for and rehabilitate those who have been maimed in defense of country and Constitution. This, however, would never occur to Obama, a man motivated by personal ambition and nothing else.

Cut him some slack!! Barack was on his way to the hospital to visit the troops, and noticed a basketball laying on the floor. You know it was impossible for him to resist that!!! The latest rumors going around are, if he is elected, the new government civil service exam will be….make 7 out of 10 free throws, and the CEO of “Toys R Us” will change the company name to “We Be Toys”!!

    10. brie. on July 27th, 2008 3:04 pm

This is about a man of arrogance and a monumental ego…who wants to be President for the next 10 years and reside over 60 states…if we would have any kind of a crisis you can for sure find him in the gym….what does he want to run for President or Mr Universe….I think he is at the gym because people see him as a weakling….

    11. sam on July 27th, 2008 3:08 pm

like it or not sen.barack obama will be the next president of the u.s. why so many hate because he´s black? shame on you people…..
      an true american.

    12. SteveDinMD on July 27th, 2008 4:22 pm

      Sam:

The funny thing is Barack Obama is NOT black. His 16 great-great-grandparants exhibit the following demographic breakdown:

      8 Caucasions,

      7 Arabs, and

      1 Negro.

Barack Obama is only 6.25% African Negro. By contrast, he’s 50% Caucasion and 43.75% Arab. If anything, he’s an Arab-American. He has, however, styled himself a black man in order to further his political career.

    13. brie. on July 27th, 2008 7:05 pm

So now we have a black racist Arab-Muslim American….can it get any worse….people had better wake up and get a grip….Obama has an attitude beyond belief…

    14. Jack on July 28th, 2008 10:30 am

Obama cant’t wait to win the election, so he and the rest of the Democrats can throw up their hands in surrender to the Muslim terrorists. The simple solution to this problem is to elect JOHN MC CAIN PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES! Thanks to North VietNamese torture, McCain can no longer raise his arms above his shoulders!!!

    15. Terri on July 28th, 2008 10:40 am

I tell you he is the Anti-Christ. Just look at his history and behavior.

    16. txchic on July 28th, 2008 6:18 pm

obama’s become the “pied piper” of reporters. it’s truly disgusting.

i’m betting that obama had a heads up, some of the wounded wouldn’t be that excited to have to suffer again… this time with a visit from his arrogant self. he’s so staged that it’s getting old pretty quick.

    17. Cheyann on July 28th, 2008 7:50 pm

Obama is a lowlife piece of crap who cares nothing about his country he wont visit wounded soldiers wont pledge to our flag i mean whats next he thinks the American flags colors should be changed its so crazy i mean Europe is beautiful i have went but to just blow off going to see the troops that is so disgusting.People are dieing out there and he wants to go to Europe its a disgrace to the elections.turning down troops come on obama wake up and sell the roses you think you will become president well think again john mccain should win his very loyal. I would rather have Hilary Clinton to win at least she would go see the troops.

    18. Jose on July 28th, 2008 7:54 pm

You people are a bunch of idiots—-if he would have visited he would have been criticized for doinfg it for a photo op-he cant win–Idiot Mcsame just ran an ad criticizing Obama for not visiting the troops(while he was visiting the troops!!!!You can make this up

      #12 SteveDinMD – haha.
One of the wingnuttiest things I’ve seen in at least 2 weeks. Thanks for the laugh.

I can’t verify it but a cousin of a friend of my neighbor heard it from the waiter at the local Chili’s that McCain is very old and is actually Arab-European…and was once seen standing in front of the Scientology building in Los Angeles.

Has anyone else heard this? I’m afraid that this can only mean that the USA will get blowed up at the OSU-USC game. Get insurance on those tickets.

    20. Poker Texas Tips on July 28th, 2008 9:44 pm

I am not an Obama supporter.

Having said that, from a political perspective this was a no win situation. If he doesn’t visit, his opponents will say he doesn’t care about the troops. If he visits, his opponents will say that the visit was a purely political show. No win either way.

However, the correct thing to do as a “citizen of the world” (his phrase for himself) would have been to go and visit the troops by himself. Go just to show support unaccompanied by anyone with a camera. That small, decent gesture would have meant the world to the men and women of our armed services.

    21. Jack on July 28th, 2008 10:48 pm

Can anyone imagine what Gen. George Patton would think of this A$$hole?? This would surely warrant a slap up side of the head, for sure!!! Barack is a “cut ‘n run coward, and should not be in the same room with those wounded heroes!!

    22. SUPER DAVE on July 29th, 2008 6:25 am

SAM: tell me why osamabama doesn’t put as much emphasis on his white heritage as he does being a racist black ?
if it wasn’t for his “white” mother, he would have been just another thug in the streets selling crack and making babies for our tax dollars to support.
his mother was in his words an “average white woman”. he didn’t mention the fact that she raised him without a deadbeat father, put clothes on his back and food in his mouth

    23. yoyo muffintop on July 29th, 2008 7:14 am

#21 Jack – I’m pretty sure Patton would be voting for McCain:

“Individually they were good soldiers, but I expressed my belief at the time, and have never found the necessity of changing it, that a colored soldier cannot think fast enough to fight in armor.”
George S Patton, “War As I Knew It”.

    24. flippy on July 29th, 2008 10:32 am

      Super Dave -

Wow. Really? If his mother was black then he would be a crack-selling baby-making street thug on welfare? That is what you are going with?

I don’t remember him calling his mother “average” I think he called his grandmother “typical” (an interesting choice of words).

    25. SUPER DAVE on July 29th, 2008 11:35 am

      FLIPPY ?
average, typical, is this how you would describe your mother? look at the facts son. why do you think your president to be tells all black men to stand up and be fathers ? and osama already admitted drug use as a militant.
are you the “typical” obama supporter of a man who thinks there are 60 states and wants to change everything America is about or would you
vote the other way and maybe keep your freedom ?

    26. dennisintn on July 29th, 2008 12:51 pm

i don’t care whether obama is black white or green with purple stripes. i don’t care if he’s democrat or republican. i think he’s probably the most charismatic speaker since reagan and j.f.k. that does not make him suitable to be president of the u.s. obama is a far left liberal who has ties to and owes way too many people i think belong in another country or planet. he has changed his position on practically everything he’s been criticized about to the point that it looks like he’s on a constantly revolving turntable. he has had to “clarify” too many of his statements of policy and say he was “misunderstood” for lawyer who should know how to make his point the first time. that amounts to lying if he told us the truth the first time. there are going to be several supreme court judges that will be appointed in the next presidential term, and i assure you that obama’s choices would be so far left of center the country would not be america anymore. this is the United States of America. it is not, and i, for one, do not want to be a satellite of europe.

    27. Jack on July 29th, 2008 2:26 pm

How can everyone keep saying that Barack Obama is such a brilliant speaker? They guy is a good READER! Take away his teleprompter and he has a hard time stringing three words together, stumbling and searching for the right words. Hell, he even makes George Bush look good!! When he gets rolling with his teleprompter grinding away, he sounds like Rev. Wright! If he ever gets balls enough to do “Town Halls” with McCain, he will be wasted. By the way, why is he so anxious to go to Iran to negotiate with Pres. Imadamnnutjob, and he’s scared to go one on one with McCain? The guy is a first class PHONEY!!!!

    28. flippy on July 29th, 2008 2:36 pm

      SUPER DAVE -

Average…no, I would not describe her that way; and as I CLEARLY said, I agree that “typical” was a poor choice of words.

And, I am not your son. I appreciate the attempt to be folksy, but your overal tone is condescending.

I generally consider myself a republican, and I currently consider myself torn. I would like to vote for McCain, but honestly no longer agree with the Republican party on too many key points. I do believe that the current adminstration is far more corrupt than any other in recent memory, and although I believe that they were doing so for the right reasons, I think that they lied to us about the situation in Iraq before the invasion.

Obama has his faults. They are REAL. Let us talk about those. The fact that he is black is not one of them. The (non-fact) that if his mother was hypothetically black he would not be where he is today is not only completely irrelevant it is a fantasy scenario.

Seriously, your post, (taken by itself) clearly states a position that if he was 100% black he would be crack-addicted deadbeat criminal; That all it takes to go from senator to crack addict is to be raised by a black mother.

If that is your actual insight on state of the human condition, then so be it but I am glad this conversation is over the internet where I can just click away from the page (and we are not stuck at some cocktail party together because that would be awkward).

    29. SUPER DAVE on July 30th, 2008 6:45 am

YES FLIPPER, you should probably just click off.unless you can answer the question. and i can also just click off. there is no argument about a man running for president of the U S when he has no idea how many states there are, not to mention a fake birth certificate. to even think of changing the seal of the U S is blasphemous in itself. i am neither pro republican nor democrat and i don’t fist bump !

    30. flippy on July 30th, 2008 5:59 pm

      Super Dave -

Um…I didn’t think you asked a question was that not rhetorical. But here goes:

average, typical, is this how you would describe your mother? – Average, No. Typical, depends upon the context; Nobody is really typical when you get down to it, but it is not an insult, either. Still stands that he only used “Typical” that I know of, and that was reference to his grandmother.

why do you think your president to be tells all black men to stand up and be fathers ? – Because it is well-accepted problem that so many black families are “broken”. That he is speaking on this topic is a good thing, I think. Do you see a negative in it?

are you the “typical” obama supporter of a man who thinks there are 60 states and wants to change everything America is about or would you
vote the other way and maybe keep your freedom ? -

Thinks there are 60 states -
I doubt he really does think that. He is educated. On the other hand, our current president has an ivory league education and he is about as sharp as a crouton; so maybe your right.

      Am I a typical supporter –
Well I guess in broad strokes I fall well into his demographic; like I said, nobody is really typical if you care to look; but on paper, yeah I guess I am typical.

And the “Vote for Freedom” question -

Though an agruement could be made that we are safer with the patriot act, we certainly have less freedom than we did pre-patriot act. So, to equate freedom with safety is simply not accurate; the relationship is more inverted. I am NOT saying that this loss of freedom is not acceptable as a trade off for safety, only that to suggest the republicans are pro-freedom is a bit disinginous(sp?) because, in general, they want to regulate our lives more than the democrats. By this I refer to the social issues like Gay Unions, Abortion, etc. You may counter with “thats a good thing”, but I will stand by the fact that these stands are freedom-limiting.
