Separation of Church and Obama: Barack Obama Quits Trinity United Church of Christ Due to Political Liability … What Took You So Long?

Separation of Church and Obama: Barack Obama Quits Trinity United Obama_REVChurch of Christ Due to Political Liability … What Took You So Long?

After all this time Obama finally pulls the trigger on distancing himself from his controversial church. Only now does Barack Obama quit the Trinity United Church of Christ. It is a matter of judgement. One that America can not take the chance on.

Barack Obama in his calculated political wisdom has finally quit the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, IL. After 20 years of hear the same type of sermons, witnessing the same type of actions and being a party to the same mind set, Obama has now decided to quit the Church that he has so defended for months.

“We don’t want to have to answer for everything that’s stated in the church,” the Democratic front-runner said. “We also don’t want the church subjected to the scrutiny that a presidential campaign legitimately undergoes.”

Obama said he was resigning “with some sadness.”

“This is not a decision I come to lightly,” he said

The Gateway Pundit has many updates on this “Shocker”. In typical fashion, at a news conference, Obama resigns from church but does not denounce the church that he is leaving for obvious reasons. The church, Reverend Wright and most recently Rev Pfleger and the racist message became too big a liability for Obama’s political ambitions.

OBAMA PRESS CONFERENCE—
Obama says-

“I will not denounce the church. It is not a church worthy of denouncing.”

UPDATE I: Obama quits Chicago church after long controversy

Barack Obama said Saturday he has resigned his 20-year membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago “with some sadness” in the aftermath of inflammatory remarks by his longtime pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and more recent fiery remarks at the church by a visiting priest.

However, this controversy is far from over as much as Barack Obama would like it to be. Obama is never going to be able to distance himself from this church until he denounces it for what it was for 20 years. By the same token, if Obama denounces the church he will have alienated blacks across America. Obama, pick your poison.

“I’m not denouncing the church and I’m not interested in people who want me to denounce the church,” he said, adding that the new pastor at Trinity and “the church have been suffering from the attention my campaign has focused on them.”

Need a little fix to that headline.

Anyway, just so that no one is mis-led by Obama leaving Trinity, here’s a little quote from his Meet the Press interview on May 3, 2008

OBAMA: He was my pastor, and he built a terrific church. I’m proud of that church. We’ve got a wonderful young pastor who’s there, who’s doing, uh — continuing the terrific work that the church does, and that’s my commitment. My commitment is to the values of — of that church.

It’s pretty clear what the values of this church are, we’ve heard it over and over: racism, hatred of whitey and hatred of what they love to term as “AmeriKKKA”.

As the greatest, most powerful nation in the world, we are all doomed (all races) if OSAMA Barack HUSSEIN Obama is elected President. If he wins, we may as well grab our ankles and kiss our a$$e$ goodbye :-(

The good news is with all of this negative attention on Obama, hopefully McCain will win :-)

Obama Explains Why He Quit Church
      June 01, 2008 4:54 AM

Obama praised the current pastor of Trinity, Rev. Moss and said that he continues to admire the work that Rev. Jeremiah Wright did in building up the church.

He insisted that Trinity itself is not a church worth denouncing. “I’m not denouncing the church and I’m not interested in people who want me to denounce the church, because it’s not a church worthy of denouncing, and so if they’ve seen caricatures of the church and except those caricatures despite my insistence that that’s not what the church is about, then there’s not much I can do about it.”

Up until March of this year Jeremiah Wright held the honored position of “spiritual advisor” of Obama’s campaign. The revealed rantings from the pulpit of TUCC forced him to step down from this position.

MR. RUSSERT: You’re done with him? If you’re elected president, you won’t seek his counsel?

SEN. OBAMA: Absolutely not. Now, I think it’s important to keep in mind, Tim, that I never sought his counsel when it came to politics. And I–you know, some, SOME OF THE REPORTING THAT IMPLIES THAT SOMEHOW HE’S MY SPIRITUAL ADVISOR OR MENTOR, AS HE HIMESELF SAID, OVERSTATED THINGS. He was my pastor, and he built a terrific church. I’m proud of that church. We’ve got a wonderful young pastor who’s there who’s doing–continuing the terrific work that the church does. And that’s my commitment. My commitments are to the values of that church, my commitment is to Christ; it’s not to Reverend Wright.

Transcript: Obama Press Conference on Jeremiah Wright
      by FOXNews.com

OBAMA: There has been great damage. It may have been unintentional on his part, but I do not see that relationship being the same after this.

Now, to some degree, I know that one thing that he said was true, that he was never my, quote/quote, “spiritual advisor.” He was never my spiritual mentor. He was my pastor. And to some extent how the press characterized in the past that relationship, I think, was inaccurate.

Obama claims that he is a politician different from the ones that exist in present day Washington DC.

      Oh really???

Obama used the trinity Church when it behooved him. For years he sat idly by and said nothing as the hateful and racist comments spewed from the pulpit. However, it worked to his advantage politically.

Now that Obama claims he is for white and black America, the church, that never changed its views or positions, has become a political liability for Obama.

How can Obama be for all people, yet be a part of this church? The answer is, he can’t. The question is however that Obama only quit this church because of his political aspirations, but because he believes they did anything wrong.

Katablog and Susan, crazy and paranoid as your posts sound, they IMO are right on the money. I’ve made similar comments to friends and have been laughted at. Obama has an agenda to “change” things in this country. How frightening coming from a man who worshipped in the church of Jerimia Wright, not for a month, or a year, but for over 19 years. How can people NOT see this man for who he is, what he stands for? He listened to, believed, and had this man his mentor,….this man who hates whitey and says “God damn America” . And Americans are going to vote for this snook???

If it wasn’t so disastrous it would be hillarious!!!!

Yes, frightening it is. After we all make some monetary compensation for slaves we did not have to those who were NOT slaves, we can don our Burkahs and start reading the Quoran!!!

Wise Words above from Red. Obama was all about that church when it was of use to him.

Barack Hussein Obama sat in the congregation there for over 20 years and had NO QUALMS with their “get whitey” message. Now that it has come to light, he denounces over 2 decades of faithful worship by saying “it’s not worthy of denouncing.”

You know a candidate has to be bad when they make a Clinton look appealing. That’s all I can say.

    8. caesu on June 1st, 2008 2:44 pm

good that he left that church.

i wonder where the fearmongers will come up with now…

      his hairdresser is muslim.
      probably something like that :D

i really hope mccain won’t bring stuff like this up in a debate. because he will make a total fool of himself then. obama obviously is well prepared for that.
but i think mccain is above this.

      a question:

why do some of you call obama: barack hussein obama.
why not call mccain: john sidney mccain?

do you guys REALLY think he is muslim…
      LOL

    9. LilPuma on June 1st, 2008 2:53 pm

The problem with Obama, for me, is this:

He says, in a quote above, that his commitment is to the values of Trinity Church. Which values? Those that gave Pfleger a standing ovation as he mocked Sen. Clinton and said whites have to pay for raping people of color? The values that include “damn America” because we are a country of imperfect people of all colors who have many problems to address and solve? A church that does a lot for the community? A church that embraces Black Liberation theology and Louis Farrakhan? What parts does Obama agree with and what parts doesn’t he agree with? How could I vote for him if he doesn’t make that clear?

Also shown above is a statment by Obama that Wright wasn’t his spiritual advisor. I thought Obama claimed at one point that he was. I’ll search to see if it exists, but if someone has an Obama speech or interview describing his relationship with Rev. Wright, I’d appreciate it if you’d post it.

i suggest you read obama’s books and his speeches.
in full, not just the quotes.

obama has denounced or broken with rev. wright, farrakhan and pfleger.
so he clearly doesn’t agree with them.

LilPuma … In the following introduction at a minister’s conference in June, 2007 … Obama refers to Wright as his “pastor, friend, councellor and great leader.”

Until April of this year Wright held a position on Obama’s campaign as “Spritual Advisor”. However … the controversy encompassing the revealed rantings from the pulpit at TUCC … implied that he should step down.

OBAMA: MICHAEL PFLEGER – FRIEND AND ADVISOR

Obama: I have a deep faith
      April 5, 2004

Friends and advisers, such as the REV. MICHAEL PFLEGER, pastor of St. Sabina Roman Catholic Church in the Auburn- Gresham community on the South Side, who has known Obama for the better part of 20 years, help him keep that compass set, he says.

“I always have felt in him this consciousness that, at the end of the day, with all of us, you’ve got to face God,” Pfleger says of Obama. “Faith is key to his life, no question about it. It is central to who he is, and not just in his work in the political field, but as a man, as a black man, as a husband, as a father…. I don’t think he could easily divorce his faith from who he is.”

At Obama’s Church, Chicago Minister Says Clinton Felt ‘White’ Entitlement
      by FOXNews.com
      Thursday, May 29, 2008

Michael Pfleger, a Catholic priest, issued a formal apology for his sermon Thursday after Obama put out a statement saying he was “deeply disappointed” by Pfleger’s remarks at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

“I regret the words I chose on Sunday. These words are inconsistent with Senator Obama’s life and message, and I am deeply sorry if they offended Senator Clinton or anyone else who saw them,” said Pfleger.

I don’t know if any candidate has a realistic plan to ensure, or at least improve, health care for those who are not covered by their employer’s insurance. Barack Obama’s website has an analysis. One item that is highlighted on the site is this:

“III. Clinton’s Misleading Attack on Obama’s Plan

Hillary Clinton repeatedly says that Obama’s plan leaves out 15 million people. This estimate does not take into account several features of the Obama plan including his program to immediately cover of all children and his program to actually get coverage for young adults 18-25 (who are the least insured and most likely to disregard a mandate).

Senator Clinton also leaves out the fact that the number includes around 7 million undocumented immigrants who are not covered by her plan either.

The reality is that Obama’s plan will cover every American because it cuts costs aggressively, makes enrollment virtually automatic, and because he has allocated sufficient resources to ensure that if after implementation there are some Americans who still don’t have health care, he can find a way to get them covered”

      http://www.barackobama.com/factcheck2/2007/11/

Each voter can decide for themselves whether or not they want to provide health insurance for 7 million undocumented immigrants.

I think that we need to provide quality health care for US citizens and legal residents, including those covered by Medicare, before we extend insurance coverage to illegal immigrants at our own expense.
