Croes was indicted for bribery, giving jobs to friendly contractors, giving preferential treatment to political friends, and conspiracy. According to the National Government, Croes was the ‘pivot and leader in a great deal of conspiracy, including civil servants of the finance department, employees of the project bureau PPDN, and contractors. He also knew of all the irregularities that took place with the project. The judge didn’t consider all these accusations proven.

ORANJESTAD – Former minister Tico Croes of Finance was sentenced to pay the National Government damages yesterday due to violation of the Governments Accounts Act. The judge says that there is evidence that in 2001, Croes has exceeded his budget without approval of the parliament.
The case against the former minister is part of the series of lawsuits instituted by the National Government as part of the Fondo Desaroyo Nobo San Nicolas. These are about the civil procedures, the criminal persecution against the main figures in this case.
Croes was indicted for bribery, giving jobs to friendly contractors, giving preferential treatment to political friends, and conspiracy. According to the National Government, Croes was the ‘pivot and leader in a great deal of conspiracy, including civil servants of the finance department, employees of the project bureau PPDN, and contractors. He also knew of all the irregularities that took place with the project. The judge didn’t consider all these accusations proven. Croes has to pay the National Government damages for the fact that he had exceeded his budget without the approval of Parliament. The amount of the damages will be determined later. Each party pays her own legal costs.

Comment 115, you are very correct Mortella, Beth and the first group from Alabama arrived on the Monday, I was with the second group and we arrived on Wednesday at about 11AM. We were told by van der Stratten to check and shake down leads at crack houses, along with many other worthless leads. This was to keep us busy and not have us in the way of the coverup. We were also warned to not go after the 3 witnesses (J2K) and try to get information from them. He(van der Stratten)was not in uniform but I could see his pistol was in his pocket. Dennis Jacobs met with us later that day and said the same thing, shake down crack houses and the people there but lay off J2K. He also had his pistol in plain view although not in uniform. He and van der Stratten both claimed to not knowing where Joran was.
When we found him the next day at the International School, the police started following us from then until we left the island. They knew very well what had happened to Natalee and only wanted to protect Joran and Paulus. The show of pistols was a warning from them that their intentions were to protect Joran. This is probably the reason the Dutch are bringing weapons, they know. Hindsight is 20/20, if all of us from Alabama had it to go over again, the case would have been solved the first week after Natalee went missing. Thanks monkeys, you have really been on this case. The more pressure, the more results. Great job. Justice will come and then maybe some peace for Beth and the whole family.

On Monday June 13th 2005, at approximately 13.00 hours I spoke informally with the suspect Joran Andreas Petrus v/d SLOOT at the police station in Oranjestad.
On my question to Joran whether he can tell me what happened after the girl had fallen asleep on the beach near Fisherman’s Hut, he answered:
“I called DEEPAK and he came with two dogs. I think he raped the girl and did something to her.”
To my question where the girl was buried then, he answered:
“I think that it was buried then next to the wall of the Fisherman’s Hut, for the rest I would not know either.”
“You know, Joran van der Sloot and Deepak and Satish Kalpoe were not denying. They were not denying a crime. They were implicating each other. They were fingering each other over and over again. And that was the day that the FBI came in, Doug Shipley came in, and said that the way the interrogations are unfolding, there’s a strong possibility that Natalee may not be alive. That was huge. That was the day that-I think, Joe, everyone buried Natalee that day, on June 10.
On 7-12 PAUL REYNOLDS told “MSNBC,” “I know that my sister had a meeting with the FBI June 10, Friday. And from that meeting, she became convinced that Natalee was no longer alive. She called her mother and told her that. And our family was-was-began the grieving process. You know, we were told the report would come out the next day. Later that night, we saw the reports that confessions had been made, that something bad had happened. Shortly thereafter, it was retracted. The next morning, there was a report that said Natalee was confirmed dead. And these reports came from the deputy commissioner. They came from the spokesperson from the Ministry of Justice. And then, all of a sudden, these statements and these confessions just disappeared.”

After Holloway and the three men went to the beach, they drove her back to her hotel, where she stumbled and was approached by a man wearing a security guard uniform, another defense attorney, David Kock, told the AP.
Kock said his client, Satish Kalpoe, and his brother told police they saw a black security guard approach Holloway in the parking lot in front of the hotel lobby before they drove off.

There’s alot of empty to go arround on Aruba now, empty hotels, empty beaches, empty space where the heart should be.
So much conflict of interest in this case….so many authorized persons working on this case who should have excused themselves from it from the start because they had motive to choose sides over doing their jobs honestly and ethically. And that’s why when you have a conflict of interest you’re supposed to let someone else handle things…you don’t want people to start thinking you let your loyalties to your peers influence your job performance, justice in this case.
One of the most telling of all conflicts of interest was when van der straaten let PVDS read over Joran’s statement and make changes to it! Doesn’t that render the statement Paulus’s statement? What was Paulus seeking to hide by changing Joran’s concept of the events?
I’ve thought all along, as many others of you on here have, that Paulus was key number one person who knew what happened eventually to Natalee that made her go missing. Since he couldn’t let Joran speak for himself in his OWN statement, I can’t help but think Paulus needed to make sure what Joran said didn’t upset Paulus’s agenda.
Would love to have seen Joran’s original ramblings! We never will, but van der straaten DID! Could this be the evidence he was talking about when he said he knew Natalee was dead?

When Joran went to jail, Paulus was not allowed to talk to him. Anita was, but not Paulus. Why was Paulus singled out? Why, since he’d already been allowed to monitor Joran’s words right in front of van der straaten?
My answer….it was show! Just show to make it appear Paulus was not having influence over this case via Joran’s words even after Paulus was free to do so for over a week before Joran went to jail and after he was allowed to change Joran’s words of his original statement with van der straaten’s blessing!
It was a moot point not to let Paulus see Joran in jail. It was show, and that means there is guilt to hide or else there’d be no need for a ‘show’ of good faith. But why start then? Why start after Joran was in jail? Too little, too late! Hindsite is 20/20, but the truth is still out there.
Van der straaten knew Natalee was dead and he had no intention of letting the person who caused it have to pay…those conclusions are made by taking van’s own reported words into account. Those who caused Natalee’s demise then HAD to be friends of van der straaten. How hard could it be to solve this case if those in charge really wanted to?

Saw the video of Aruba’s Prison via NBC…it’s old news but I hadn’t seen it before…Fred Maduro, prison director said he used to work with Paulus years ago and he knew Joran as an adolescent…he said it didn’t surprise him that Joran was in jail because he knew of his bad temperament. When he doesn’t get his way he becomes very angry. He got into a fight with a policeman and I don’t believe he would of tried that one again, he also lost his temper and starting kicking an inmate, over and over again ,in the same place, Joran ended up with a good sock in the eye and walked around prison with a black eye.

I, Carlos Severino Tromp, am the builder, owner, and writer of the Dutch website
www. koninginnlwatismensenrechten.com and I want to apologise to you through this letter via the website YOU TUBE for the injustice the ministry of Aruba has done to you, because injustice is injustice. I understand your pain and meekness as a human being and mother of Nathalee Holloway, and I also want to express my support for you, because you have lost the battle, but not the war! There is, alas, no justice in my country of birth Aruba, because the government of Nelson Orlando Oduber Prime Minister is corrupt, the eleven puppet members of parliament, and their president, mrs Marvin Wyatt-Ras, are nothing more than puppets who protect corruption. The Public Prosecuting Agency of Aruba (OM) Havenstraat #2, Oranjestad, Aruba, is a political Organisation and together with the communal Court of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba they have degenerated into a house of worship of Satan.
Also the very corrupt crown civil servants, the violators of human rights: the Public Prosecutors General, Mr. Drs. Teresa Diana Croes Fernandez Pedra and the monster Mr Elivia Elvira Lugo who on a daily basis violates justice and human rights,
(it is namely not for nothing that the now former commissary of police and inspector,
Gerold Dompig, has thoroughly beaten her up. What is piquaint, however, is that he
was not prosecuted for this severe maltreatment and even this incident was covered up
by the local authorities of Aruba and that the motherland the Netherlands has, as usual,
again closed her eyes to this serious fact) mrs Teresa Diana Croes and Elivia Lugo
together with her colleagues; whom have perfected and legalised corruption there with
the blessing of the corrupt Hyancintho Rudolfo Croes (Rudygate), minister of justice,
for whom the motherland the Netherlands takes a bow!
They are not to be trusted, falsify documents, commit forgery, manipulate the law, commit great injustice, so that justice there in fact has degenerated into justice metered out by tyrants and a lot more devious things against humanity and human rights, with the cooperation of many corrupt Dutch and Aruba lawyers, whom have all done such under the auspices of the kingdom of the Netherlands, which has therefore degenerated into a
lowlife banana republic.

This is the reason that Nathalee Holloway has become missing and Joran van der Sloot is untouchable within that banana republic, the kingdom of the netherlands.
Joran van der Sloot would now have become a persona non grata. I have to laugh at this, because that is only a sly joke and a smoke curtain coming from the henchman of Satan with the nickname “Rudygate” sitting on the post of the secretary of justice of the very corrupt STATUS APARTE of Aruba, entitled as a den of thieves: the insular territory Aruba, being a part of the dutch banana republic. It is further totally irrelevant whether there is or is not a governor of Aruba, because this current governor is blind, deaf and mute concerning the crimes of his former political party MEP that is in power.
A part of the populace is tainted with corruption. Just ask the former E.U. member of Parliament mr. Frits Bolkestein and the dutch Second Chamber member mr. Hero Brinkman; they are witnesses, because they have called Aruba a litter of robbers and a den of thieves.
But do not think that I am surprised, because of the fact that the International Transparency rapports of Berlin have also entitled the motherland the Netherlands as being number seven on the list of all the corrupt countries in the world! Bad trees do not give good fruits!!
The dutch government closes its eyes to the crimes taking place on Aruba against humanity and human rights in name of the head of state, the Queen, Mrs Beatrix. And the dutch Prime Minister Mr Drs Jan Peter Balkenende believes in his half truths and is helping the corrupt government of Aruba Prime Minister Nelson Orlando Oduber to fool the people and the world with a crooked rapport of the IMF into believing that the economy of Aruba is sound. Jan Peter Balkenende appears not to have feelings or be ashamed of his lies, or else he must be totally incompetent! Because how is it then possible that Aruba has only 120.000 inhabitants but a national debt of more than one billion guilders, while 80% of the populace has fallen into poverty? This has only been possible with the very corrupt cartel of Prime Minister Nelson Orlando Oduber, Hyacintho Rudolfo Croes (alias Rudygate), Marisol Lopez-Tromp (queen of corruption), Nilo Swaen who is manipulating figures on the ministry of finance, Ramon (the sex maniac) Lee, Eddie Briezen Namdar, Booshi (Mr false diploma) Wever and cronies.
But it is understandable that dirty hands cannot clean anything what is dirty and IF Satan rises against Satan, he is fighting against himself and destroys his own kingdom; thus states the Holy Bible!
I advise you to start a legal procedure against the insular territory of Aruba, the Dutch state or the Kingdom of the Netherlands, because the government of Aruba is lying to the world under the auspices of the kingdom of the netherlands, that lowlife banana republic, that Aruba is a safe and secure island for tourism; even for the people there is no justice, while there exists no security of law, no justice on that little island, neither that so called democracy!
Because corruption is in power on Aruba and the government under the Cabinet of Nelson Orlando Oduber has changed the insular territory of Aruba into a den of thieves!

Dear head of state,
I hereby wish to ask your attention for the umpteenth time on the same subject;
As you are well aware, I am since 1999 struggling for justice within the Kingdom of the Netherlands on the part of the empire, the insular territory Aruba, and the motherland the Netherlands, but up till today without results. Though human rights are not for sale, they cannot also be bought. Yet justice within the kingdom is nowhere to be found. That is why I urgently wish to ask you as the head of state: do human rights concerning me exist in the kingdom? This because I am also born with human dignity and also have the right of human rights, justice, peace and freedom concerning me being respected and yet I cannot emigrate to my country of birth owing to the fact that the government of Aruba, the public prosecuting agency of Aruba, and members of the common court of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba cannot be trusted! Knowingly and willingly the public prosecution agency of Aruba has four times horribly violated the observance of human rights concerning me, by hostaging me, torturing and imprisoning me without me having committed a prior crime with a total of 257 days in solitary confinement and 20 hours of imprisonment without rights. This with the compliance and knowledge of the aforementioned court. And as you are well aware of all these crimes committed against me by the organisations and institutions of the government of the insular territory Aruba and your civil servants who have taken the oath, like the public prosecutors general (PG’s), who should have known better, especially that public prosecutor general (PG) Mr Drs Teresa Diana Croes Fernandes Pedra, because I have already been informing you for years by means of correspondence, after your representatives had remained deaf and dumb to all my complaints and you too have remained totally passive to all the crimes.
The legal consequences are that you, the Prime Minister Balkenende and all secretaries have in a penal law sense ( and not a constitutional one), by not acting, all committed the following crimes:
——Having taken part in the following crimes:
• Violating the European Treaty of the Rights of man, in which is included the Universal Declaration of the Rights of man
• Violating the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union
• Violating the Treaty of New York (the U.N. treaty) and all further relevant treaties relevant to the rights of man
• Taking revenge by abuse of power and supporting the very corrupt government of Aruba, the public prosecuting agency and the communal court of justice of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba
• Hostaging me four times with a total of 257 days in solitary confinement and 20 hours of imprisonment without me having committed a prior crime, together with conspiring, plotting against me, discriminating me, telling lies to me, hostaging me, torturing me, stealing my property and subjugating me while being bound on hands and feet
• Threatening to murder me with a black pistol aimed at me in the police station of San Nicolas on Aruba
• Manipulating the law, lawyers, and the criminal sentence of 26th of March 2002, case number h.16/02, so that I am without a legal chance in the procedure in cassation
• Abusing my under aged children by making them make damaging statements against me without them knowing what they were doing
• Committing forgery and falsifying official documents
• Covering up the dossier of the sentence of the 26th of March 2002, case number H.16/02, by the abovementioned court, so that I remain ignorant of the reason why I remained captive for 257 days in solitary confinement
• Letting the public prosecuting agency of Aruba make dossiers disappear and covering that up.
• Covering up crimes against humanity by civil servants of the public prosecuting agency of Aruba
• Writing two false rehabilitation reports (H. Hoevertz) and two false psychiatrist reports (H.A.E van Gaalen), addressed to me with the aim to ruin my mental health on the island of Aruba, so that the truth would not surface
• Placing me in a cell without a mattress, light, fresh air and a toilet
• Allowing the sale of drugs
• Corruption and a lot more devious things addressed against me that have taken place on the insular territory of Aruba, where you too are queen and head of state, in your name in a government building with closed doors where I was bound at hands and feet on the order of your crown civil servants, with on the wall your portrait at a desk apparently with your instructions, where you are also the head of state and queen with the last constitutional responsibility
Of this you and your government are well aware or should be. And you and your Prime Minister Mr Drs Prof. J.P. Balkenende act as if there is nothing the matter, while the two of you both willingly and knowingly close your eyes to the truth of injustice, the unfairness of the semi dictatorial way of proceeding of the Prime Minister in the Netherlands as well as in Aruba, the secretaries here in this country and as well in Aruba, the members of the public prosecuting agency of Aruba, by this passive mentality and positioning.
That is why I do not address you with Majesty, because you are not worth being addressed with the term Majesty, because your representatives do not respect you and they have in your name in front of your state portrait horribly trampled upon my human rights and you keep a hermetic silence while you are well informed, because of that you apply a double standard!
It is also of the greatest importance that human rights within the kingdom of the Netherlands
should too be protected and observed by the supremacy of law as guaranteed in the Dutch constitution, the Constitutional regulation of Aruba, the Statute for the kingdom of the Netherlands and the International treaties that your government, your predecessors and also you have signed concerning the legal performance and functioning of the constitutional state in the sense of the guaranteed rights and liberties for everyone so that duped persons are not in last instance forced to resort to inciting a revolution against oppression, tyranny and class justice. (signed treaties nota bene in which The Netherlands has guaranteed that human rights are observed and that there shall be sound government on Aruba and Curacao; such has as consequence that, if there should still arise corruption, violations of human rights, all kinds of legal and financial malversations and misgovernment, the motherland The Netherlands will have neglected her duties and repudiated her responsibilities), (In this regard please reminiscence the origin of the outbreak of the French revolution of 1789; e.g. among others things the excesses of Marie Antoinette).

——Committing actions of support and backing up of the afore-said crimes.
CONCLUSION:
Seen from a legal point of view I can only draw the conclusion that you support and protect hardened white collar criminals, together with Prime Minister J.P. Balkenende and the remaining secretaries of the Balkenende Cabinets, as well as the civil servants concerned on the afore mentioned insular territories whom have committed the afore mentioned crimes.
As a legal consequence therefore you and the Prime Minister together with all the secretaries and civil servants concerned here in this country and overseas must be prosecuted! And as I further know you have constitutional immunity, I must alas draw the legal conclusion and consequence that you are TOTALLY INCOMPETENT, AND TAKING PART IN, BEING ACCESSORY TO, AT AND FOR, AND COMMIT ACTIONS OF SUPPORT TO CORRUPT CROWN CIVIL SERVANTS, TOGETHER WITH ALL THE AFOREMENTIONED PERSONS and that you, the Prime Minister J.P. Balkenende and the remaining secretaries, should immediately be removed from office as the head of state and all the persons concerned be removed from office by the parliament as a constitutional sanction and you together with all the aforementioned persons have to be criminally prosecuted in order for your and their total involvement in all afore mentioned crimes to be established.
Besides you and your prime minister J.P. Balkenende have not the right to point out to foreign powers to respect human rights: A diplomatic and trade mission of your administration Balkenende went to China in April 2004 where the Chinese P.M. Wen Jiabao was at the same time called to account for the better observance of human rights. Also on the 1st of November 2005 you and the P.M., mister J.P. Balkenende, together went to Schiphol Airport to receive the Russian president, mister Vladimir Poetin, and at the same time call him to account for the violations of human rights in his country with the object of the exploitation of natural gas and the abundant wealth of income from oil and natural gas. On the 30th of March 2006 during your state visit to the Argentine where you had a special agenda for the committed violations of human rights by the regime of Jorge Videla. You were also present at various opening ceremonies that directly refer to the existence and functioning of the universal declaration of Human rights and the aforementioned treaty of New York.
And I can continue like this while my screams for justice to your government since 2003 and to you yourself since 2004 have fallen on deaf ears! Namely, because violations of human rights are covertly permitted within the kingdom of the Netherlands! I am therefore absolutely convinced that there is nobody within the administration of justice in the kingdom willing to move a finger to investigate all my complaints to the bottom. Nobody from the side of your government within the kingdom wants to hear the truth of injustice, and the unfairness of the political discrimination.
This is -speaking politically- a bad state of affairs, a disgrace and a scandal!
Apart from the legal consequences of penal law concerning all of this!!!
My open letter is not meant to discredit you or your government; it is meant, however, to illustrate the other side of the Dutch European coin so that the rights of man, truth, justice, human dignity, peace and freedom are in reality permanently able to manifest themselves within your kingdom!
For that reason I have again decided to personally address you as the head of state by means of this open letter for the seventh (7th.) time with the request for justice so that my complaints lodged against the civil servants on Aruba charged with the -in your name- upholding of law and dispensation of justice, amongst whom the former and present public prosecutors general Mr Drs Teresa Diana Croes Fernandes Pedra and the judges appointed by you, will initiate a criminal investigation; this because till this present moment not a single step has been taken in that direction in spite of my complaints and I therefore since 1999 cannot return to my country of birth without legal security.
All the injustice done to me till this present moment is the result of the simple fact that I have utilised the legal possibilities of lodging complaints against the police commander Rodel Juan De Los Poulina and the Super public prosecutor general, mr Elivia Lugo, (whom the now former police commissioner and inspector Harold Dompig has beaten black and blue)
Mr Elivia Elvira Lugo who is well versed in committing injustice and violating human rights, on the instructions of the public prosecutor, your crown civil servant, Mr Drs Teresa Diana Croes Fernandes and the former acting public prosecutor, Mr Frits C.V. de Groot, everything and everybody with the blessing of the very corrupt minister of justice, Hyacintho Rudolfo Croes ( alias Rudygate) and the former president of the court of appeal, Luis R.J. de Lannoy
I now ask you not for help, but I do ask you, as such is your duty, to observe the correct compliance of human rights and bring order within the kingdom itself by promoting the actual enforcement of all human rights, before you, as head of state, address other countries on violations of human rights; because in the Kingdom it has become a totally normal state of affairs that human rights are trampled upon. Because everybody shields and covers everybody else in a constitutional, legal and political sense.
For that reason it is not clear to me what kind of constitutional state exists within the Kingdom. Because it cannot be that in a constitutional state human rights are trampled upon and the state secretaries and civil servants and the head of state have their mouths full of the existence and proper functioning of human rights within the democracy of the Dutch constitutional state; by simulating the existence of a living democracy, but in fact allowing
the reality of a political white collar criminality .
Namely, violations of human rights are covertly permitted within the kingdom of the Netherlands, while nobody wants to put a stop to this utterly unsavoury situation!
On the basis of the aforementioned it has to be concluded and determined that within the Kingdom of the Netherlands up to this moment each and every existing political administration, the formal heads of state of the Kingdom of Holland violate human rights or ignore them and have every interest in preventing actions that cannot stand daylight come to the surface, which has as a political and legal consequence that the Kingdom of the Netherlands is in fact a covert fascist dictatorship.
I have abundantly tried to make clear to you that your representatives on the insular territory of Aruba are white collars criminals. The governor is completely knowledgeable of everything, but feigns a total lack of knowledge of the crimes taking place against human rights on the part of the empire Aruba. Namely, all the Oduber administrations have consisted of a gang of corrupt types who have thrown your official state portrait in the wastebasket and replaced it with the picture of a deceased man, Betico Croes, the brother of the criminally corrupt secretary of justice, Hyacintho Rudolfo Croes (alias “Rudygate”). The parliament of Aruba and the president Marvin Wyatt-Ras only consist of a bunch of 12 profiteers who know nothing better than being mere political “ aye-voters”, who support corruption and suppress the people of Aruba! The public prosecuting agency of Aruba and the members of the communal court of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba of the so called justice system, where your official portrait stately hangs on the wall has degenerated into a corrupt den of white collar criminals who on a daily basis violate the rights of man and corruption is being upheld!
All the hideous crimes, violations of human rights, the rape of law by civil servants charged with the maintenance of law and administration of justice, who take the oath in front of your state portrait in the presence of the governor of Aruba appointed by you, and pronounce injustice in your name in the courts of law, there where your official portrait is stately hanging on the wall, remain unpunished in the insular territory of Aruba without being discussed by and hidden from the international order of justice.

It is reported that Karin Janssen, the chief public prosecutor of Aruba, has left the island upon the expiration of her employment contract and has returned to the Netherlands. This is the same Karin Janssen who, about a year ago, said “fireworks” were imminent in the case of Natalee Holloway, an American who vanished on Aruba on May 30, 2005.
It is not surprising, given Aruba’s litany of promises that turn out to be lies and pledges that are never carried out, that yet another statement by an Aruban official turned out to be empty. After all, Karin Janssen did once say that “we are getting the picture of the puzzle,” and said that it was possible to prosecute a case even in the absence of a body. Unfortunately, neither those statements nor any other have urged Aruba to take action.
I am taking the presumption of writing to urge upon Your Majesty my sincere belief that only determined action by your government now offers a possibility of solving this case.
In 2005, a team of Dutch detectives visited Aruba and said they were certain that Joran van der Sloot knew what happened to Natalee Holloway. In August 2006, Aruba asked your law enforcement authorities to take over the investigation. Dutch agents went to Aruba, collected documents, and returned home. Since then, there has been only silence.
It would be tedious to list all of the evidence that points to the complicity of at least some members of Aruban government and law enforcement personnel in a conspiracy to shield certain persons from prosecution and punishment. Allow me to cite some key items here:
–The lead investigator at the outset of the case, Jan van der Straaten, was a personal friend of Paulus van der Sloot, the father of one of the three main suspects.
–Prosecutor Karin Janssen delayed arresting the three main suspects, the persons last seen with Natalee Holloway, even as two security guards were arrested with no evidence against them other than accusations by the main suspects, who later recanted them.
–Although Dutch law stipulates that lying as a witness is a crime that bears a penalty, the many lies of the three main suspects and of their acquaintances were never prosecuted.
–The van der Sloot home, residence of a key suspect, was not searched for about three weeks, though the homes of the security guard ‘suspects’ were searched upon their arrest.
–When the van der Sloot home finally was searched, Judge Robert Wit, who was there, prohibited Aruban police from executing the terms of their warrant, which allowed a full search of the house and property, limiting the search to Joran van der Sloot’s apartment.
–Paulus van der Sloot was allowed to review and edit his son’s initial statement to police and had access to police files while the belated investigation was proceeding.
–Despite the many contradictions in the testimony of the three main suspects and of their acquaintances, a panel of judges ruled that the three could not be questioned further except on a voluntary basis. A subsequent pledge by Aruban spokesman Steve Cohen that Joran van der Sloot would be re-interrogated was never carried out.
Your Majesty, these are but a few of the issues that have perplexed and angered the American public. More than a year and a half after Natalee Holloway vanished in Aruba, her family remain uninformed as to her fate. Aruba seems indifferent to this injustice.
It is my unpleasant duty further to inform Your Majesty that this month another American tourist has gone missing in the Netherlands Antilles island of Saba. It is reported that officials of that island refused to allow missing-person posters to be displayed, citing fears of an adverse impact on tourism. This case remains unsolved as I write, but the indifference indicated by the island’s stance is highly suggestive of Aruba.
Finally, may I remind Your Majesty that the case of Amy Bradley, an American believed to have been kidnapped in March 1998 from a cruise ship docked at port in Curacao, also is unsolved despite continued reports of sightings of her in apparent situations of duress.
No American now expects honesty, integrity, or impartiality from Aruba’s government. We therefore must implore Your Majesty to ensure that your government will take active measures. It is a source of great disappointment that nothing but silence has been heard from the Dutch investigators, and has led to suspicions that no real action is planned.
Your Majesty is aware of the courage displayed by Lamoral, Count of Egmont, who to his cost defied Spanish tyranny and championed the spirit of liberty. Likewise, the families of Amy Bradley and Natalee Holloway have been pursuing justice, and defying modern tyranny, in an area of the world where Your Majesty wields extensive influence.
May I conclude this letter by beseeching Your Majesty to instruct your government also to defy the tyranny and injustice exemplified by Aruban action and inaction, and to ensure that our two peoples will stand unified in our determination that justice be done.
