Jack Abramoff Lobbying for Aruban Prime Minister Nelson Oduber?

From today’s Diario, A base di pago di 500 mil Florin PRUEBA CON SENADOR GodfatherArubaMERICANO TA ELOGIA NEL ODUBER

Things that make you go hmmm …

Reading through this mornings Diario it came as a peculiar sight to see the name of Jack Abramoff and Aruban Prime Minister Nelson Oduber referenced in the same news article. These days no one wants their name in the same sentence let alone news story as Abramoff. We all know the name Jack Abramoff for the many public corruption cases he has been involved in. On January 3, 2006 disgraced uber power lobbyist Abramoff plead guilty to 3 counts in a corruption probe.

Jack Abramoff, the once-powerful lobbyist at the center of a wide-ranging public corruption investigation, pleaded guilty yesterday to fraud, tax evasion and conspiracy to bribe public officials in a deal that requires him to provide evidence about members of Congress.

The following day, on January 4, he plead guilty to two criminal felony counts in a separate federal court, in Miami, related to his fraudulent dealings with SunCruz Casinos.

A question comes to mind, among many. Why would PM Nelson Oduber need a good word put in for him to American Congressman? To look through the record of Jack Abramoff is like a who’s who of scandal and corruption. Anything this guy touched was suspect. So why did Oduber feel the need to associate with Abramoff?  Aruba has been in the eye of the storm with Americans since May 29, 2005 and their PM, according to the Diario article, is doing business with one of the most scandal ridden lobbyists ever. A lobbyist with so many “dark side” connections like Abramoff would be about the last person that one would want to be connected to these days. However, it appears that PM Oduber according to Diario paid Abramoff for his services.

A summary of the Diario article of Abramoff and Oduber is as follows:

What’s involved is that Nelson Oduber, the Prime Minister of Aruba, paid Abramoff over 250 thousand dollars to put in a good word for him in the Congressional records. Oduber’s name was clearly mentioned with regards to that transaction. Since Abramaoff kept himself busy with lobbying work and found himself accused of having committed fraud, corruption and conspiracy, which he admitted to the district attorneys, and is now cooperating in the penal investigation that is going on in the U.S. Since he did the same kind of lobby work for Nelson Oduber with the same senator (Conrad Burns), for the price of 250.000 dollars, the article places emphasis on the fact that Oduber’s name is being mentioned in the sordid Abramoff affair in the U.S.

The paper is asking from where Nelson Oduber obtained the funds to beef himself up in the U.S.? And why was Aruban undeclared money used to pay off a corrupt person in the U.S. to speak well of the Prime Minister. The paper also asks how come Holland can tolerate for a partner of the Kingdom to pull out money from the national budget to invest in acts of bribery.

Then the paper goes on to quote what was written about Nelson Oduber in the Congressional records, and to point out that for this small island it is a very serious matter when the Prime Minister gets himself involved, directly or indirectly, in acts of corruption and bribery just to have some good words about him placed in the records.

Congressman Spencer Bacchus, you have been awfully quiet these last few years since your air kissing episode with Arlene Schippers.

It’s one more step from Abramoff to Bacchus.

    4. Scared Monkeys on January 25th, 2007 1:19 am

Hey Frank … so that’s what it takes Bacchus from going from we need the FBI in Aruba this is no common runaway …

U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus, R-Vestavia Hills, said Saturday there were circumstances surrounding Holloway’s disappearance that warranted the FBI being heavily involved. He declined to give details.

The circumstances were disturbing, said Bachus, who formally requested the FBI’s involvement. I can’t get into it, but it’s something the family is aware of. There was an immediate recognition that this was not simply a teen who wandered off.

to oh everything is fine and Aruba is investigating the disappearance.

      nice 180 … nice lobbying.

Rep. Spencer Bachus said he came away from a Friday meeting with Aruban officials with the sense that they plan to vigorously pursue leads in the disappearance of American student Natalee Holloway.

“Their intention going forward … is not to shut this case down, but to continue to pursue it vigorously,” Bachus told reporters. “They do not consider it a closed case nor do they consider that they have a dead end. They continue to develop information and pursue leads.”

Gives a whole new meaning to, you dont know Jack.

    5. mayan_moons on January 25th, 2007 1:50 am

Bachus says its something the parents are aware of…..has Beth ever disclosed what he meant by that?

    6. dkpen on January 25th, 2007 3:29 am

#5 Dave Holloway was on Dana Pretzers show on Jan. 22nd and was asked about that question. Dave Holloway said it meant that something bad happened to Natalee and the parents knew she didn’t simply run away, something bad happened. That is what Bachus meant or referred too from what DH said.

As far as Oduber and Abramoff goes, we all know Aruban ALE/Officials are corrupt and they deal with corrupt individuals. They also don’t have any corruption laws so they can basically do what they pretty much want and get away with it. Lie, cheat, steal, rape, kill and anything else you want to think about that results in crime or corruption. It’s a Do nothing, See nothing, Hear nothing kind of Island.

One day they will get what is coming to them. They think they can continue to keep getting away with their ilk and corruption but it will blow up into their faces if they keep it up. Just when they least expect it.

I think it’s rather humorous that Oduber thinks he can pay Abramoff to put in a good word and get a good name with USA Congress. Who does he truly think he is fooling? Abramoff should take the money and run and nail that SOB Oduber.

    7. Richard on January 25th, 2007 5:25 am

Can our Aruban friends help us on this question? Does Nelson Oduber have the reputation of being personally honest in financial matters, or the reverse, or is there nothing to give any impression at all?

Do you know anything about his family or financial background?

I’m wondering if the money used to pay Abramoff came from some drug dealers’ slush fund. A lot of mob money apparently is used to underwrite casinos, hotels, and other necessities of the tourist trade; among other things, these facilities give them the opportunity to launder cash.

And hitherto, it seems, Caribbean investments have been fairly profitable anyway.

Now things are changing in Aruba.

So what exactly is it that Oduber needs to lobby in our country for? And for whom? After all, since Aruba is a foreign country, his main interest might be to smooth the access of foreign investment and to influence tourism legislation. Or is he just keeping his hand in? Or is he the “front agent” for the drug mobs?

Gets more interesting by the day … and more complex.

    8. Pearl on January 25th, 2007 7:45 am

Maybe Chavez, Dubie’s best-bud, has a detailed explanation as to why Oduber needs Jack?

You know, Chavez: the “Gringos go to hell” guy?

No common runaway …. Well, this story came out today.

Glad to know this sort of thing doesn’t happen in the Third World. Otherwise one might wonder why Aruba is keeping the Natalee case under the tightest of wraps.

Italy arrests 2,000 in human trafficking
      Associated Press
      Jan 24, 2:56 PM ET

ROME – More than 2,000 people throughout Italy – most of them foreign – are accused of human trafficking following an investigation that uncovered minors and adults forced into prostitution and working in sweatshops, police said Wednesday.

The four-month investigation uncovered hundreds of trafficking rings, some of them as small as three or four people, said Chief Superintendent Chiara Giacomantonio.

“There were no surprises. Unfortunately it’s all well-known,” Giacomantonio said. “It’s Albanians exploiting Romanian women, Chinese exploiting Chinese, Africa on Africa.”

Most of the people running the operations and their victims came from countries in Eastern Europe, including Moldavia, Albania and Romania, as well as countries in Asia and Africa, Giacomantonio said. Some prostitutes were brought in from Iraq, she added.

Of those accused, 784 have been detained, and 1,311 were released pending legal proceedings, police said. The accusations are exploiting prostitution and favoring illegal immigration.

“We can’t say we’ve defeated the phenomenon of human trafficking, but we have dealt a blow,” Giacomantonio said.
Among the most upsetting cases was that of a young girl who was forced to prostitute herself up to her sixth month of pregnancy, Giacomantonio said.

Forty-five women who cooperated with authorities have been granted permits and allowed to remain in Italy, police said.
“Fighting these criminal groups … and freeing these girls is a matter of civic conscience of all of us even before it becomes a matter of law,” Interior Minister Giuliano Amato said in a statement.

As part of the investigation, police seized 15 homes throughout the country where the girls were forced to work as prostitutes, four nightclubs and three sweatshops. Two of the sweat shops were for textiles, and one was a hairdressers, Giacomantonio said.

She was blatantly lied to in order to get in to the car!

Joran led her to believe they were headed to his house…
Joran then changes his mind after she is already
in the vehicle. It is too late for escape,
      they trapped her.

      She was duped.

She requested to be brought back to her hotel! Joraan
      said so… read on.

      JUNE 9TH, 2005 A.L.E. — IN JORAN’S OWN WORDS

Then Satish, Natalee and myself walked to Deepak’s car. Natalee and I walked hand in hand. When we arrived at the car Deepak was already waiting for us. We got into the car and before Deepak drove off I told Deepak and Satish that
Natalee wanted to go to my house but that I could not take her there because my father and brothers were home. After I told Deepak and Satish this they said it was OK. Then I told the girl that I could not take her to
      my house

****but that I could come to her hotel room.****

She answered me that she did not want to go to her
hotel room and that she wanted to go to the
North coast to watch the sharks.

**** He is admitting here in this ALE statement, that he got her in to Dirtpack’s car under false pretenses! This effin psycho admitted in this 6/9/2005 ALE Statement that he led her to believe she was going to see his “BIG HOUSE”

      — He INSTEAD wants to
take her to her hotel room. ( Dpak – Yes,
we all go back to the hotel and have sex
in the same room. It has happened before.)

He then claims she wanted to see the sharks.
However, she never said that… IMHO
THE SHARKS line is where something went wrong.
He is using the sharks as a mask in lieu of what really happened. It is a method for beating a lie detector test, … just like it is possible to beat a lie detector
test by causing yourself pain. Biting your tongue
hard, for instance. That is another method to try and
      beat the machine.

While we were driving in the direction of the Lighthouse and were close to the dunes, Natalee fell half asleep/dozed off again. When she startled awake again she asked me where we were and I answered her that we were at the Lighthouse.

Natalee then said to me that we should take her to the Holiday Inn Hotel because she had to travel the next day.

To your question as to whether on May 30th in the nightly hours, I found it too cramped on the backseat to FINGER THE MISSING GIRL “Natalee Ann HOLLOWAY”, I answer you that Deepak and Satish put forward their seats because
they are not tall. With the seats moved forward I get more room to sit properly.

…her hand into the direction of my penis. I placed my left hand at that moment in time between the inside of her leg. I started stroking her breasts with my right hand. Natalee was wearing a bra. I did not put my hand into her bra. Natalee had normal size breasts. Beyond the Marriot Hotel and into the direction of Tierra del Sol I had fingered Natalee. With my fingers I pushed Natalee’s
panty to the side and fingered her with two fingers. According to me she was shaved because I did not feel any hair. I first stuck my middle finger inside and then I put my index finger inside. While I was doing this Natalee and I kept kissing. I fingered Natalee for about one to two minutes and then pulled my hand out of her panty and placed my hand on her hip.

To you question as to whether I am under treatment from a doctor, I answer you that I AM NOT. I am being treated by a dentist because I have toothache. I AM also under treatment of a psychologist. This because I felt bad about the fact
that the girl had gone missing. Before the girl went missing I was also under treatment of a psychologist. This was because I had taken 50 euro’s from my dad and also took money from my mother and I used my brothers mobile phone without asking for permission and after that I had broken the chip from his mobile phone. I also once fought with my brother in Miami but we are good friends now.

My brother is fifteen (15) years old and his name is “Valentijn”. He is the one

I would like to talk to.

After that we walked in the direction
of Fisherman’s Huts/ On the way there I
told Natalee that the stars were beautiful.
Natalee told me that THERE WERE NO STARS.

      FOX NEWS-GRETA / JORAN 03/2006

So, yes, at one point I told her, you know, it’s time to go
back to your hotel and she was just like, “No, let’s stay here. LET’S LOOK AT THE STARS.” She was just saying, you know, “Stay here with me. Just stay here with me the whole night. Tomorrow I have to go back anyway” and,
you know, that’s… that’s what we were talking about.

Topic: Anita VDS’ son in jail:

ANITA VAN DER SLOOT: No. The first days, when he was at the police office, I could go in sometimes in the morning, see him for five or ten minutes, sometimes at night, and I could hold him. I couldn’t talk about the case or anything, just about love from this and this person, friends from Holland called, people who wrote e-mails. So I spoke with him about these things and ******* just told him to stay strong and to TELL THE TRUTH.************

      Joran tells police:

      - he would only go with us, the reporting officers if is father was released;

      - that his mother and his lawyer had advised him on behalf of his father TO NOT MAKE any more statements and to invoke his right to not make statements

      - that he would receive a message from his father’s lawyer when he should make statements;

      - that according to his lawyer, if he would stop making statements, his father would be released in two days;

      - that he listens to his families advise;

      - that the lawyers “Antonio CARLO” and “OOMEN” are good friends of his father

      - that these two lawyers out of friendship with is father would defend them

      - that he know that if he would make a statement he could bring his father into trouble.

(MD, I have to hand it to
      ya… I was skeptical at first…
      but you are so right)

PAULUS was in it up to his waders!

“I think that it was buried then next to the wall of the Fisherman’s Hut, for the rest I would not know either.”

      During the conversation Joran showed
      differing emotions. Sometimes he cried,
sometimes he was direct in his answers.

Of this I reported on my oath as
      officer on June 17th 2005.

Bachus’ actions and words left little doubt he was involved in some type of pay off or underhanded dealing.

Nice job selling out a constituent Bachus.

Never forget she was a little girl you turned your back on. Nice Job Bachus. So much for ‘We The People’ in your small mind. Sje was always just ‘the girl’ to you huh? Well, she is someones daughter, sister, and friend, and you failed her.

You turn your back on a fellow American for a POS Aruban Dictator with his own ‘militia’. A man that wants the ‘Natalee Holloway case to go away’…he’s heard enough of it already.

With representation like Bachus provides, you hardly need enemies.

Bachus leaves Natalee on the beach.

Bachus- you were always a coward. Thanks for proving us all right about you.

Come to think of it, remember when a few governors pledged to raise the “boycott Aruba” issue at the National Governors’ Meeting? I don’t remember the date, but I think it was in March 2006 or thereabouts.

The governors of Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi publicly endorsed the boycott, as I recall. But I don’t think we ever heard one word emerge from that conference about the boycott proposal.

The disgustingly supine behavior of our government in this whole matter defies belief. Apparently it doesn’t “want to make waves,” or wants allies in the face of Venezuelan intransigence, or cowers behind legalisms, etc., etc.

But when the chips are down, what will Uncle Sam do for you?

Well, today the U.S. tripled the foreign aid and assistance for Lebanon (where a suicide bomber in, I think, 1982 — it was under Reagan — blew up a few hundred Marines).

We have our priorities right, don’t we?

    20. Richard on January 25th, 2007 11:47 am

Question: in the last Alabama election, did anyone try to hold Bacchus’s feet to the fire on this volte-face? And has anyone tried to elicit a comment about the (according to her, anyway) unwilling departure of Karin Janssen from Aruba, the country that will “continue to pursue it (the case) vigorously”?

    21. Miss-Underestimated on January 25th, 2007 11:49 am

Has anyone seen or heard any reference made by Beth or Dave regarding Bachhus (Sp)?

    22. Richard on January 25th, 2007 11:58 am

Joran says that Natalee wanted to see the sharks.

Unfortunately, she did see at least three of them. And went off in a car with them, also.

I suspect that at some point, she met more. Not the decent ones that live in the ocean, but the ones on Aruba.

      From the forum…

The bloody mattress that was located in the Grapefield Beach area was found on June 5, 2005 and determined the same day that the blood was not human. Why was the DNA determined so quickly, yet the fabric from Deepak Kalpoe’s vehicle required forensic testing done in Holland to determine that the stains were not human?

Hey Mr. Bacchus, Mr. Oduber, Dompig, Jaansen, Vander straate. Maybe Arlene to, care to defend this action?

    29. LilPuma on January 25th, 2007 1:34 pm

My first thought is that Oduber only did what many Americans did, but if Oduber and his government are fully cooperating with the U.S. to stop the flow of illegal drugs, weapons, and humans as well as money laundering that come through the Caribbean, he might not need to pay someone to put in a good word for him. Oduber should spend his money weeding out the corrupt officials in his country.

    30. Richard on January 25th, 2007 1:35 pm

Thanks for correcting me on the boycott states.

Carpe Noctem, on your excellent post #11, is it clear that Natalee asked to be taken back to the hotel before the sexual actions described there were committed? (I’m assuming that Joran is being forthright in this part of his testimony, anyway.)

It would seem to me that, if so, he is guilty of both kidnapping and rape by virtue of his own words. Does this get into the suspect-can-lie, witness-can’t-lie nonsense?

The Abramoff connection … does this explain why so very little has been done by our government to help this family?

This was one of the top 3 stories of 2005. Not once has the name Natalee Holloway ever been mentioned by GWB. EVER.

Could lobbyist efforts have been put in place to make it a non-story? That and the fact that Hugo Chavez lives 20 miles away from Aruba.

    35. MSMARPLE on January 25th, 2007 3:55 pm

This is a letter-writing campaign that NEEDS to happen.

Write to your representatives and senators, and to Bachus. Demand an investigation into Abramoff’s connections to Odebur (and potentially Bachus). Be sure to mention that this was brought to your attention through an Aruba (not U.S.) publication.

Enclose or attach the Diario article and summary translation. Mention that the Aruba publication sensibly wants to know where the money came from and who told Odebur he could use it thusly.

Be sure to mention the $250,000 early on – money gets attention like nothing else. Also that Aruba is a big casino destination. (Remember that it was casinos-on-reservations issue that led to Abramoff’s downfall. White man spoke with crooked tongue big time!)

Write to the Birmingham newspapers. In fact, CALL RIGHT NOW if you’re in the area.

Get busy! DO something! If nothing else, should generate some negative publicity about Aruba. Could be a big story.

      34. R – Scared Monkeys

Why the deafening silence from all levels of the United States administration in regards to the Natalee Holloway case?

Natalee Holloway is an American citizen and ….. an obviously corrupt Aruban investigation is denying her justice and ….. putting her family through a H— on Earth and …. the “powers that be” in the tiny island of Aruba have no fear of the nation that was once perceived as the greatest democracy on the face of the earth.

The only politicians that have spoken out on behalf of Natalee Holloway and her family are …. Riley, French, Bachus and Rice and …. very tactfully ….. not to make waves …. not to risk Aruba’s wrath ….. not to risk diplomatic relationships.

If Aruba does not value America’s friendship enought to afford Her citizen a just investigation then ….. Aruba is no ally and ….. then I ask “Why does America value relations with Aruba?”

I consider it a betrayal of the United States of America to one of her own. Does anybody think for one minute that Natalee Holloway would have been denied justice and …. her family a measure of closure if ….. Aruba had feared consequences ….. retaliation ….. accountability …. wrath …. from the United States Administration.

It doesn’t surprise me about Oduber. I remember that photo of the fake hug he gave Beth and his statement last year, he was sick of this case. It’s always about promoting more tourism to him, not about safety for the tourists who come or for Justice for a tourist who was a victim on his island.

I also found it strange that Arlene Shippers a person who was working for the AHATA ,a known liar, came to the USA to talk to Bacchus about Natalee’s case. Why in the world would a Hotel and Tourism person have access to police files and especially since Guido, a relative, was arrested and detained in this case. Everywhere you turn is another conflict of interest.

      #11 Carpe..

      You said it.

I’ve thought often of what Joran said if his mom would’ve stayed home this wouldn’t have happened. He could still sneak out of his apartment, if Anita was home so what did he mean? and what is THIS.

btw thanks for the easy math question, math was always my worst subject and studied accounting, go figure, thank God for calculators.

U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus emerged from a meeting with an Aruban delegation that lasted less than 2 1/2 HOUR convinced that the SIX MONTH investigation into the disappearance of Natalee Holloway was credible. How is that a possibility in just 2 1/2 hours? In the initial stages of the investigation his impression of the investigation differed considerably …. he believed that the FBI should be “heavily” involved.
Bachus would not comment on exactly what was discussed at the meeting.
What caused Senator Bachus to betray Natalee and her family?
      BIRMINGHAM NEWS – JUNE 5, 2005
      June 5, 2005
U.S. Rep. Spencer Bachus, R-Vestavia Hills, said Saturday there were circumstances surrounding Holloway’s disappearance that warranted the FBI being heavily involved. He declined to give details.
“The circumstances were disturbing,” said Bachus, who formally requested the FBI’s involvement. “I can’t get into it, but it’s something the family is aware of. There was an immediate recognition that this was not simply a teen who wandered off.”
      CBS NEWS – DECEMBER 16, 2005
(AP) Rep. Spencer Bachus said he came away from a Friday meeting with Aruban officials with the sense that they plan to vigorously pursue leads in the disappearance of American student Natalee Holloway.
Bachus, R-Ala., whose district includes Mountain Brook, where Holloway is from, divulged little about the substance of the meeting, saying only it was a “frank and open discussion” and that Aruban authorities have devoted “tremendous resources” to the case.
“Their intention going forward … is not to shut this case down, but to continue to pursue it vigorously,” Bachus told reporters. “They do not consider it a closed case nor do they consider that they have a dead end. They continue to develop information and pursue leads.”

John Quinlan Kelly, a New York-based attorney for the Holloway family, said Natalee Holloway’s parents wanted him to attend the meeting, but the lawmaker’s office told Holloway’s family the Arubans objected to that.

So there is proof that Bacchus took a bribe from Abramoff to do a 180 degree on this investigation? When did this happen as #38 points out, Abramoff has been in jail most of the time Natalee has been missing. Three months after her disappearance is when he went to jail following a lengthy investigation and in that time, Oduber paid him a bribe and he some how paid Bacchus?

Does the family agree that this happened? Do they approve of this connecting Bacchus to Abramoff?

      What am I missing here?

    58. Mortella on January 25th, 2007 10:21 pm

Spencer Bacchus was a co-sponser on the bill that made online gambling illegal. He has done more to hurt this industry than just about anybody in congress so to say he is in the pay of Arubans is just a little bit stupid! And illogical as well.

There is no proof of any connection whatsoever between Bacchus and Abramoff. Abramoff was parked in jail about two months after Natalee disappeared. Guess he went down to Aruba with the feds in tow and got money to give to Bacchus?

What nonsense! The article is about an entry in the congressional record dated December 7, 2004. And it makes no mention of Bacchus at all. If Senator Richard Shelby could do nothing on this investigation, it couldn’t be done. If a junior congressman is told to butt out of a given situation by the NSA, DEA, Dept of State, DOJ, etc. he butts out.

This reeks of a political smear campaign against Bacchus based on zilch. Show your proof he has a connection to Abramoff and then we’ll talk about it. Until then, why bite the hand of the only person who has really hurt the online gambling industry this way? MB just re-elected Bacchus, too, so evidently they are pleased with his performance.

Oh, if only some knew as much as they claim to know, we could have found Natalee long ago!

    59. yoyo muffintop on January 25th, 2007 10:47 pm

    60. Mortella on January 25th, 2007 11:28 pm

Here is a link to a bill opposing online gambling that Jack Abramoff is credited with DEFEATING. He helped online gambling stay legal.

Here is a link to the bill last year that lists Spencer Bachus as a co-sponsor on the new bill to make online gambling illegal using the financial aspect of it.

As any FOOL can plainly see, the two are diametrically opposed in the arena of online gambling, one of the biggies in Abramoff scandals.

The entry into the congressional record on behalf of Nelson Oduber occurred in 2004, long before Natalee Holloway disappeared. And Jack Abramoff was under heavy federal scrutiny and possible in jail within weeks of Natalee’s disappearance so I do not see any way on earth for there to be a connection there to her disappearance in any way, let alone with Spencer Bachus involved in what would for all intents and purposes be a political opponent and big time adversary.

But I see you are all having too much fun just changing the facts to suit your rant of the day and are not interested in the truth.

If Senator Richard Shelby could do nothing in this investigation, it couldn’t be done, let alone by a junior congressman. Oh, well. I believe I am talking to myself anyway.

      Party on!

    61. Richard on January 25th, 2007 11:32 pm

“So there is proof that Bacchus took a bribe from Abramoff to do a 180 degree on this investigation?”

Mortella (#43), I was going to highlight this and suggest that it might be a bit of an overstatement, to put it mildly. As I read all the stuff above, there’s not one bit of proof, or even evidence, that Bacchus and Abramoff had any contact.

However, your comment (#58) redresses the balance. Nobody has come up with any evidence of any such thing.

Let’s not charge that a congressman took a bribe from anyone without having solid evidence on hand. This comment isn’t addressed to you, Mortella.

As for Jamie Skeeters, I’ve heard that he died of a heart attack. I’m wondering how this affects the lawsuits swirling around the Dr. Phil show … and the HT family’s countersuits. God only knows.

    64. why on January 26th, 2007 3:06 am

The Twitty’s are getting a divorce. Natalee’s little brother is now living with “friends” in the general area BUT will NOT graduate from MB High School – decided his JR year (he is a SR now) to go to another school and live elsewhere. . I don’t think Beth was/is home much and perhaps he and Jug didn’t get along? For whatever reason Beth’s son and now only child chooses not to live with her?

I still believe there were serious issues in the family between Jug Twitty and Natalee – and it appears there are/were issues for her brother also. Natalee DID NOT want to move and DID NOT want to live with Jug Twitty. Jugs own children don’t like him – perhaps it was all the “counseling” or the ultra strict household where Natalee couldn’t even have a steady boyfriend and her MOTHER had to get her a prom date with one of Jug’s son’s schoolmates. My personal opinion is that Natalee’s wild behavior in Aruba had a LOT to do with her feeling a bit “smothered” at home and I do not think she and Jug (or Jug’s family) got along at all. In fact Jug’s brother Jar’s twin sons were ON THE TRIP WITH NATALEE and yet they barely spoke to each other the whole week and they certainly weren’t “looking out” for her since one of them was at C&C’s the night she took off with J2K. As far as reports go, he never said a word to her or attempted to get her to stay with the MB group.

You can say what you like about Beth (and Jug and the Twittys) but the fact that after all the pain and loss they share over Natalee’s disappearance, her own son won’t live with her or with Jug and prefers to live with not family but friends, says SOMETHING isn’t right in that house. Was it really that perfect, happy home for Natalee that Beth painted? I don’t think so. And say what you like, the fact that we have never heard a single word from her brother, a single humanizing story about her (you know she loved her dog, she had posters of XYZ in her room etc) from her mother (or Jug, or ANY of his side of the family), tells me there is SOMETHING not quite right in that house and in that blended family. And I don’t mean something evil, just something very different than the picture we have been painted.

Perhaps once he is legally an adult and can speak and since he will no longer have to depend on Jug for college perhaps we will finally hear from Natalee’s invisible little brother. He is the one person I feel most sympathy for and he was probably the closest to Natalee.

    65. Richard on January 26th, 2007 9:00 am

I don’t care to speculate about life in the household, something of which I know nothing and which is none of my business anyway. Most of us have our imperfections, but so what? Is the implication here that something at home was behind Natalee’s disappearance? Claptrap, I say.

The issue here is: what happened to Natalee? I don’t see that it is either helpful or tasteful, or even appropriate, for us to talk up some issues in the family’s home life that may or may not have existed.

      IMHO, as people say.

    66. Richard on January 26th, 2007 9:01 am

And I too have the greatest sympathy for Matt. I’m sure that the family, having been through what they’ve been through, want to give him as much of a semblance of a “normal” life as can still be gotten. Keeping him away from the news hounds is a wise move, in my opinion.

Due to the misdeeds of Joran and his accomplices, Beth has lost her daughter and now her marriage.

Can you even begin to understand the stress this tragic situation must have caused the Holloway-Twitty family? I assume not, since you seem to lack even an ounce of compassion for Beth.

Don’t try to spread your “theory” about Beth and Jug’s home.

Hey Why…Come on…So what if Beth’s son is living with supportive trusted friends… Living in a household that is on the brink of divorce is not a “friendly” environment for him to live in.

Beth did the right thing. Her son is living with trusted
friends during this stormy period, to spare him from having to live in that stressful situation.

I don’t find it strange at all that Natalee did not want to hang out with her step brothers. That means absolutely nothing. I was divorced and my children had step brothers and sisters and would have done their own thing while with a group of 100 students and other friends instead of hanging with their step brothers or sisters.

      Deepak: 6/11/2005 ALE STATEMENTS

      2:45am – 3:15 (time window given)

Joran phoned me. He asked me what I was doing. I answered that I was watching television. I asked him, and you? He answered that he was at that moment in time walking home. I then said to him, you see if you had stayed with me, you could have gotten a ride home. I then asked him, and how did it go. He said to me, no man, WE JUST WENT IN TO THE WATER.

After that according to Joran the girl had fallen asleep on the beach. He said he had left her there. HE DID NOT SAY WHERE THIS TOOK PLACE. At that point I got angry at Joran and asked him, why he left that girl on the beach. After that he said that he was walking home barefoot. I then said, what do you mean, you are walking home barefoot and I asked him where his sneakers/sport shoes were. He answered that he had left his sneakers/sport shoes at the beach.

Notice in his later fairy tails he subtracts
the fact that they both went in the water together.

Probably because of how hard to believe it is
that she went to SLEEP after swimming on the beach.

It is about as effin stupid as the tale of her

      6/11/2005 DEEPAK ALE STATEMENTS continued

(Joran did in fact rape Natalee – there is no denying this.)

After the conversation Joran said to me that it had been his father calling and that he told him that there was police at their house and that it was about the girl that we had been out with the previous night. Paul also said to Joran that we should stay put and that he would come and pick us up. Joran had misunderstood him and we drove to his house. At that moment I heard Joran say “What the fuck is up with/wrong with this bitch”. Then he said to me that if the police should ask anything that we should say the following: That we left together with the girl when we left from “Carlos & Charlie’s”, that we drove around, that JORAN KISSED AND FINGERED HER, THAT SHE FELL ASLEEP in the car
and that we had taken her to the hotel. -J4N

      6/11/2005 ALE DPAK ADDENDUM

While we, the reporting officers, were driving towards Sint Nicolaas, we had an open conversation with the D.S. KALPOE mentioned afore. Of him among others was asked whether the statement he had made was the whole truth or if there had been a plan “B”, just in case that which they had agreed to say went wrong and if it indeed was said that if there was no body, the police had no case.
The suspect D.S. KALPOE had said to us that he had nothing to add to his latest statement, that there had been no plan “B” and that the father of Joran, during one of the times that he and his brother had been at Joran’s, had come with A BOOK and had explained to them what they needed to know if they were arrested by the police. (with the father of Joran, Joran and his brother the following people are indicated, witness P.A.P.J. van der SLOOT, the suspect J.A.P. van der SLOOT and the suspect S.S. KALPOE; comment TROMP). The father of Joran had explained to them that they had to be informed of their rights, that they were at first going to be held for six hours, that they could be locked up after that, that they would have to be brought in front of a district attorney within two days, that the district attorney could decide to hold them for eight further days, that after this the judge commissioner could hold them another eight days more, that in total they could be held for 116 days and that after this they could go home because the police does not have a case WITHOUT A BODY.
Me, TROMP, asked him again if Joran’s father did indeed give some explanations and he this he confirmed.

Doesn’t anybody have a clue about the gambling industry?

It would be to Oduber’s benefit NOT to have on-line gambling. As a resort that has legalized “in-person” gambling would be opposed, so a casino who loses revenue to on-line gambling would also be opposed. It’s their competition!

    82. Patti on January 26th, 2007 4:31 pm

I hope you get my drift:

If you own a casino, you not only make money from gambling, but also from entertainment and alcohol. The market for gambling revenue is very limited. There are a limited number of people interested in the gaming industry and what it has to offer. It is detrimental for a casino to have to compete with on-line gambling.

Oduber, as the prime minister of Aruba, where gambling is legal doesn’t want people to stay home to have their fun. He wants them to come to his island, spend money for housing at his hotels, spend money renting a car, spend money on drinking, and all the other ways in which an island generates revenue by having casinos available to its tourists. They don’t want you to stay home, to gamble, they want you there.

Obviously, Oduber would support any bill that keeps his competition down and his gambling revenue up. Gambling revenue is hard to come by. Anybody that has money invested in gaming or, in the case of Oduber, has an island that is dependent on those revenues are against on-line gambling. (period)

    83. Patti on January 26th, 2007 5:21 pm

I find the fact that Bacchus was engaged in introducing and passing this bill both compelling and a bit troubling.

It is a fact that he and Oduber met privately, and, like I said, Aruba could benefit, greatly, in having this bill passed. It would not surprise me to find that Oduber gave money to Bacchus for this purpose. AND it would not surprise me to find that Bacchus took it. We live in a corrupt world. Aruba is not the only place that suffers from the ails of corruption… besides, a quarter of a million dollars is alot of money. I know few politicians that would turn it down.

Whether there is a connection to any of this, is yet to be seen. But to think that a politician wouldn’t sieze the opportunity of a trip to Aruba to generate cash, is being naive.

I agree, look into it, but I also don’t see any harm in writing a few letters quoting the source of the information. A person can appear to be for you and your agenda, while all the time seeking his own objectives. It happens all the time. If it happened in this case, it wouldn’t be the first time.

      Boycott Aruba

Why? who are you the sex police that looks in everyones windows and goes around town spreading gossip? Sounds like everyone’s nightmare for a next door neighbor. Did you use to live next door to Samantha on Bewitched? Do you wear binoculars? It doesn’t matter if Matt never lives at home, never talked to his parents nor does it matter if Jug and Beth ever talk to each other and were the worst parents in the world, Natalee don’t deserve what was done to her on that Sunday night. I’m so tired of hearing bs about blaming the victims of crime. Matt is or will soon be 18 not a little baby that needs 24/7 care. It’s not open season on victims, because they aren’t able to defend themselves. For a year and a half we’ve seen this bs. Natalee is missing because she was the victim of a crime in Aruba, not because her mother or brother isn’t home now. Join the real world.

“It’s a natural progression for us,” said Walter Posner, Owner of Excelsior Casino. “We’re going to bring 30 years of experience and credibility from our land-based operation to the Web.” Excelsior Casino Aruba is located in the Holiday Inn Resort, Aruba, a 600 room facility. The casino has been in existance for 30 years.

      Thanks, New York Chic:

Aruba is concerned about it’s reputation among
      world travelers.

Aruba wants to be known as a safe, happy island.

Aruba wants the people of the United States to like them.

      Isn’t it telling:

Aruba paid a quarter-million dollars for a good word to our
congress; while only putting up $10,000 toward the reward
for information leading to the recovery of Natalee Holloway?

      What the ?!?!??!

      They just don’t get it!

      Do they???????

patti, if you read their articles and listen to their speeches, they’re only interested in the perception of safety and caring. they aren’t interested in changing anything or fixing their problems or putting out enough effort to even procure justice for natalee. they only want people to go back to believing their lies about how safe and caring and giving their are.

#9l, ending should have been “they are” not their are.
