John Mark Karr A Free Man … Judge Dismisses Child Porn Charges

File this one under … after all this you have got to be kidding me category. John Mark Karr Johnmarckarrfreeis a free man. Where does John Mark Karr send the thank you to the Boulder DA for his free plane ride and meal home? Coming soon to a TV interview near you  …

A California judge has dismissed all charges against John Mark Karr after prosecutors stated they did not have enough evidence to take the case to trial. The supposed evidence that the DA had was compromised in that they lost the original computer and the mirror hard drive copies were questionable as well.

Sonoma County Superior Court Judge Rene Chouteau ordered Karr released immediately, bringing an end to his two-month odyssey in the U.S. criminal justice system after he was extradited from Thailand on suspicion of killing the 6-year-old beauty queen.

Karr, 41, was returned to California last month to face the five-year-old pornography case after DNA evidence cleared him of killing the girl in her Boulder, Colo., home in 1996. (ABC News)

The computer evidence was marred from the outset. Karr’s attorneys challenged the fact that the DA could not provide vital computer evidence. Another key piece of evidence showed that nothing had been accessed from the computer since 1988.

Defense attorney Robert Amparan said Wednesday that the printout made by sheriff’s deputies cataloging the contents of the hard drive on Karr’s computer showed the computer hasn’t been used in eight years.

“Nothing has been accessed on that computer since 1998, two years before the Karrs moved from Alabama to California,” Amparan said.

Divorce records indicate Karr, his former wife and their three children moved from Alabama to Petaluma in 2000.

At least one observer said if Karr obtained the images more than a year before charges were filed, a judge could dismiss the case because the deadline for bringing charges had expired. (CNN)

He has made FOOLS of the FBI and a mockery of our justice system.

WHAT JUSTICE SYSTEM???? Is there one in America?
If so, I missed it somewhere.

Rulings like this one is why people turn vigilante. If people MUST commit random acts of violence, I wish they would commit it against other violent and deviant people instead of the innocent ones.

Hmmm, before bashing Aruba and The Netherlands……

    7. windy city on October 5th, 2006 9:20 pm

Karr will last about as long on the streets as he would have in the joint. I wonder which country he might flee to that has lax child molestation laws? Hmmm

    8. MBS on October 5th, 2006 10:42 pm

That’s horrible, that is one person who does not need to be walking our streets. At least with all the publicity, no one would be stupid enough to let him teach children.

Well I hope he appreciates how much our justice system did to help set him free(extreme sarcasm). It is times like these that make me very sad for the victims of the world. No system is perfect, but sometimes the system is perfectly stupid. Which seems to be the case here. All the money spent to extradite him into the country, and then from state to state when he arrived only for all the prosecutors involved to be like “whoops, we don’t actually have anything on him.” Our tax dollars at work ladies and gentleman.

as long as the aclu is active, he’ll be safe from the judicial system here. it’s jail that will kill him in the u.s., or a dark alley.

last i heard, natalee’s attackers are still walking around free along with the gang rapists of the l6 yr. old girl who had to leave the island to avoid be safe and avoid harassment. the newspapers are asking people who were sent the phone pics of the rapes to delete them from their phones. nice system aruba has, if you’re a sexual predator or pedophile. probably where karr is trying to buy a ticket for right now.

Leave it to a California judge. This is a perfect example of why terrorists should NOT have access to our judicial system.

    13. Chris on October 5th, 2006 11:21 pm

Can we send him back to Thailand?

    14. anjel on October 6th, 2006 12:12 am

LETS PUT THE JUDGE IN JAIL SO HE DOESNT KEEP LETTING CRIMINALS FREE. I WOULDNT BE SURPRISED IF HE HIMSELF HAD…… you fill in the blanks…! Its a disgrace, our judicial system. Shame on you Judges..shame on the judicial system in the USA. No wonder the world laughs at us. Thank you. Im sure all the children out there appreciate what you have done…to keep child molesters free! sick..sick..sick..

    15. glad2bAmerican on October 6th, 2006 12:25 am

John Mark Karr just got a free ride home to the states in
style! Shame on our stupidity! That is probably why he
made up the bull…t story about Jon Benet Ramsey.

    16. Sue on October 6th, 2006 2:50 am

They should have left him in the jail over there to face his sexual charges he was arrested for he wouldnt have lived long there.. He will end up back IN jail he will molest a child

      #11 – DnT – you’re 1000% right!!!

    18. Miss-Underestimated on October 6th, 2006 11:14 am

I think we all kinda knew this was coming. I truly do not think Kar will stay in the US. I still say go after Kars money for his book deal.

      Hey Neverlander
Unless your an idiot you will see the vast majority of posters see a problem and admitt it unlike the Dutch and Arubans who have a slant to protect the perps.

I don’t see Nederlanders or Arubans saying what was done to Natalee and her family was wrong. In fact the majority of Dutch and Arubans slandered Natalee and gave Beth the royal run around with lies and deception. Can’t even compare this.

    19. GretaMAL on October 6th, 2006 11:49 am

MISS-u, They LOST all the evidence. He is FREE.SAD

    20. jhawks on October 6th, 2006 11:55 am

I’ll pay for a first class ticket to Aruba for John Mark Karr! To bad Paulus doesn’t have a daughter. (that we know of)

    21. GretaMAL on October 6th, 2006 12:06 pm

hawks, The ones from Aruba are coming here !!!!!!!

    22. glad2bAmerican on October 6th, 2006 12:41 pm

Where does John Mark Karr get all his money from?
Seems he can’t hold a teaching job yet can afford
a sex change. But even if it was cheaper outside
the USA how does this man make a living?????
      Must be good at something!?

    23. GretaMAL on October 6th, 2006 1:03 pm

glad2b, He got an advance for his book !

    24. Michelle on October 6th, 2006 3:23 pm

Question here: Wasn’t there an investigation into child molestation charges in Thailand? I thought there were close to an arrest. If this is the case, will the US extradite him back to Thailand?

    25. GretaMAL on October 6th, 2006 3:26 pm

michelle, Yea. 1st class tickets with steak, lobster and a bottle of wine.

    26. glad2bAmerican on October 10th, 2006 8:54 am

GretaMAL….how interesting a book from the mind of a pedophile who duked the USA and Thailand FIRST CLASS!

    27. Angry Irishman on October 18th, 2006 8:48 pm

If Boulder Co. is concerned about the cost of sending KARR back to Thailand they should start a collection. I’m sure within the hour they would have more that enough for his flight.
