Aruban Tourism … Still An Endangered Species

Aruban Tourism … Still An Endangered Species

(Vanderbilt – ‘06)

On your mark, ready, set, “BANG”, they’re off and competing in the 2006 Caribbean Tourism 10K.
Oooops, everyone got off the line with great speed except the Aruban entry. The stakes are extremely high in this race and we notice the Island lags quite far behind it’s peers in this event. Our prayers are for a burst of insight to strike those who are in a position to do something about it.

The rest of the Caribbean is experiencing some nice tourism numbers; however, Aruba is not. They still continue to report a constant decline even after being compared to last years disastrous post “Natalee Holloway missing” tourism. When Aruba attached themselves to the three suspects in the manner in which they did, this situation was foreseeable to everyone. Everyone that is except Aruba.

The island vista isn’t so popular now that one can lose their life on the rock of an island? How does Oduber explain this away to the Dutch? Do they care?

Deal with the murdering, raping scuzz bag

      Natalee Ann Holloway.

      Joran and his father

      Frankensteins in need
      of being dealt with.

I LOVE the sketch….such a likeness to all of them…Bravo, but next time can you have the wagon
crossing the street on a “No Walk” with a transport
      truck barrowling through the intersection…

      Owe.wwwee Ouch…

    15. Sharon Chicago on October 4th, 2006 3:17 pm

YOU ARE RIGHT…the sporter looks just like he came from the lineage of Frankenstien. All he needs to do for Holloween is to pound in two four inch toggle bolts into each side of his head and make sure there is a lot of blood dripping and quickly grab his beer can and ring the door bell and try to screem from the pain, but yell “trick or treat”… Hey I would give him a lot of candy if he did that and lots of good apples to eat too…

    16. Libby on October 4th, 2006 3:22 pm

It is really a shame that someone can’t organize a group to go after Joran, Paulus or the K brothers. I am really surprised someone hasn’t. I bet if they could catch up with them or even just one of them…they could find a way to get the truth out of them. May not be a “legal method” but who cares. Not like the judicial system is going to solve the case and / or punish them anyway. If we could get one of them alone, we would know what happened and where she is. I think that little puss Joran would talk after the slightest bit of torture.

    17. Amsterdamned on October 4th, 2006 3:28 pm

      # 16 really bad idea, it’s a shame these thoughts

    18. Libby on October 4th, 2006 3:34 pm

Why is it a bad idea? These guys raped, tortured and murdered Natalee. Nothing has been done to them. These same guys have insulted Natalee and her family over and over again. All evidence has been destroyed down there. I think it would be a great way to get the truth…because that is the ONLY way we will ever get the truth. Neither the Dutch nor Aruba plans on solving this case and serving justice.

    23. Maggie on October 4th, 2006 4:25 pm

People complaining about a boycott of Aruba is so silly. You can’t force people to go on vacation somewhere they only care about your money. Look what happens to you and your family if something goes wrong. They’ve tried to take us back to the stone age by degrading a female victim about whether she had a sex life, what clothes she wore, what she drank, instead of focusing on the real creeps sitting in wait and watching for their next unsuspecting victims. Doesn’t matter if the woman marched down the street nude. I wish some undercover women would go in CnC. Its a sad state of things when they want to lock up the deceased victim and her family.

    24. mayan_moons on October 4th, 2006 4:29 pm

I love the sketch too!~ I’m so pleased that so many Americans & other nationalities are shunning Aruba.
Aruba made a huge mistake stringing the American public & media with false promises of seeking justice from these suspects. Who could ever forget Dompig telling American’s to hold their breath & Caren Jansen telling us the fireworks would come soon referring to progress in the case. ALL LIES. Empty promises & threats to the family that the investigation would stop if Beth & Dave spoke of their many concerns. Aruba is NO place to go on holiday & it looks like the majority of the American traveling public feels the same way.

It’s just a matter of time. People will wise up when their children are hungry and they have no money. The VDS and Kalpoes will be despised by the very people who initially backed them up. Justice doesn’t always take place in a courtroom.

    29. viet vet on October 4th, 2006 6:39 pm

Aruba’s reputation will be ruined for a very long time and their financial-economy will stay towards a downward spiral.
They will never experience life as before Natalee. Crime will increase, poverty alone will increase crime. The whole island will be under pimp control (Paulus-old pervert) and other sick people.
Most people will remember Aruba in a very bad way. They will remember a mother having to apolozize to some very corrupt people. I remember the Arubans demanded it and the ALE did to if they were to keep pretending to investigate.
Aruba you most of the citizens along with ALE destroyed your island. I will never understand how you could have been so dumb. So be it

Linda, I have nothing against the good people of Aruba. The problem is, I’m not sure who they are. I’m sure you are one of the good ones though, linda.

    35. dennisintn on October 4th, 2006 7:22 pm

just a thought or two about the plight of young women on aruba. natalee ann holloway, as far as i can tell, was drugged, kidnapped, raped, and probably killed, possibly by accident, and her body disposed of.

this summer, a l6 yr. old aruban girl was gang-raped on school premises by a group of teens and l adult. this atrocity was recorded on phone cams and sent to other people for their enjoyment and possible distribution on the internet. i don’t know the timing of the discovery of this rape, but if it was discovered and stopped in progress, would this child have been killed and disposed of too? according to aruban newspaper accounts, the girl has had to leave the island for her safety and to avoid embarassment and harassment while she finishes her schooling. there have been no charges brought against any of the miscreants involved in this incident and a message has been sent out to all the recipients of the pics from this incident to be erased and forgotten. i can see that happening right now. jvds and the kalpoes have been released and there isn’t much chance of them ever paying for their crimes against natalee ann holloway. there is now another group of teens who, as far as i can tell, are and will continue to be free, just as jvds and the kalpoes are. of course there are no charges so both these incidents never happened as far as crime statistics are concerned, so the island remains, to their thinking and reporting, crime free.

    36. linda on October 4th, 2006 7:35 pm

You know Windy..I don’t know who the good people are either..Before this I just liked everybody..Arubans are just really friendly people..but Now..I don’t know..obviously there are some you can’ trust..

    37. MegaShira on October 4th, 2006 7:40 pm

      @dancinbare. #30

I don’t think boycotting Dutch companies will help much. because for them the USA isn’t their main market (Europe is) but mostly because they have factories in the USA. If you boycot them they will just shut down their USA market and close the factories in the USA. boycotting them will recoil at the American worker.

    38. ayfit on October 4th, 2006 7:40 pm

There is nothing too bad that could happen to these boys.I believe with everything in me,all four were involved. You know who the four are I speak of.The whole world knows. This secret could not have been kept otherwise.Anyone who believes these four are are innocent is a fool.Aruba and it’s officials are equally as guilty, especially Karen Jansen. I have never seen such corruption.Aruba sux!!!!You can write that down. I live for the day Beth gets justice,no matter how.I want the four perps to pay.No matter how!The good people of Aruba should step up,if they are any better than their officials.

    39. linda on October 4th, 2006 7:46 pm

Exactly MegaShira..thats just what I wanted to say..You don’t want your own people to pay for this..they have nothing to do with this…

    40. Houston on October 4th, 2006 7:53 pm

Oh my dennisintn, that is unbelieveable…..but know Aruba knows it can get by with anything, especially with some local girl. Drugs, traffic in children, that’s their business, check out the United States Department’s Web page.

    41. Carpe Noctem on October 4th, 2006 8:25 pm

dennisntn brings up a great point with
the summer 2006 gang rape of the teenage
girl on the island of Aruba.

The A.L.E. and Govt. continue to try
and downplay these things and poo-poo
them to make them try and go BYE BYE
      ala raping/murdering
      Van der Sloot style!

These things need to be documented. Those
images need to be collected and digitally
smeared in the right spots so as to protect
that victim’s identity…and filed.. to help shake
the trees and turn up the heat to
      bring the bottom feeders to

It is time people start documenting these things
and targeting the COVERUP ARTIST A.L.E. and
cowardice filled current GOVT. Power Structure
      of ARUBA.

Florida has a law called “The Sunshine Law”

      ARUBA needs one of these.

      To Arubaanse,

I’m so sorry. I never meant to hurt your feelings or cause you any distress. The comment was intended for Amsterdamned. I guess I had your name in the clip board and posted it by mistake.

You and Linda have been very kind to me, and it was a stupid thing for me to do. I was in a hurry, and was trying to say something to Amsterdamned, be damned, be damned. I was just trying to get his goat. The comment is totally out of context, and intended only for Amsterdamed. His arrogance got to me. I know he is a troll, and I should just ignore him.

When he starts in on Beth, I just see red.

    43. IndyDan on October 4th, 2006 8:34 pm

viet vet: you’re right on, TIME is their ultimate enemy. They can cross their T’s and dot their I’s but eventually time will catch them. There is a kind of comfort in knowing that they are sweating out when they will finally be exposed. I doubt ‘Paulas the sweater’ has had a good nights sleep in over a year. And Junior is on the run from Beth wherever she shows up. No doubt the murdering-raping VanDerSloots are living in a world of discomfort. Far from their world of usual comfort of debauchery and predatory habits against American tourists.

    44. IndyDan on October 4th, 2006 8:43 pm

#35, dennis: That’s what the predators on Aruba do with their victims. They drug them, rape them and if they die they throw them away.
To those like the VanDerSloots, women are disposable. That’s why the VDS’s are living on Aruba, east prey for the sexual predators and no laws to protect the victims.

    45. Richard on October 4th, 2006 8:51 pm

Houston, #40 … I’ve been emphasizing that point since day one. Our own State Department says that Aruba is a place where human trafficking is known to take place.

Huh, wouldn’t you think THAT IN ITSELF should earn a travel advisory for Aruba?

Oh, yes, right … sorry, I forgot … being ensnared in human trafficking can NEVER happen to Americans. (Just ask the family of Amy Bradley.)

And especially with attractive young blond girls.

      Nope, could never happen.

That’s why absolutely no trace of Natalee has been found on Aruba, as far as we know. In just a few hours ….

But I guess we should not even think about it. After all, talk about something that Aruba would really have to conceal, because it would really destroy tourism ….

The Caribbean doesn’t have law-defying gangs, and there is no presence of drug dealers with their own fleets.

Aruba is not the only country dealing with corruption!

For those interested in the dark side of America, watch the PBS series Moyers on America — Capitol Crime. The depth to which corruption can run based upon the dollar bill should never be dismissed and the power of one individual in that pursuit should never be forgotten. Lobbyist Jack Abramoff took this whole country on an unforgettable ride.

aruba is never been a safe island for kids to go on holliday!! ever!! the island has always been known as a drugstrading and young woman trading island mostly girls from central and south america to europe and the states, the war on(the little)drugssmugglers(baloonswallowers)hit the economy of the island hard!a lot of people had a nice income with that!and when the economy goes south so does safety, and it wasn’t as safe to begin with. NOW!!! for eigteen year old girls with no supervision whatsoever!!THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A SAFE ISLAND IN THE ENTIRE CARRIBIAN!!in basic there all the same and they ALL have sharks like those guys preying on their next victim!!and they all got more drugs then they know what to do with!!BUT the carribian is one of the most beautifull places on the planet and in spite of the people who are trying to ruin a beautifull experience, you should all check it out!but like i said NOT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE WITHOUT SUPERVISION!BUT THAT GOES FOR ALL THE ISLANDS NOT JUST ARUBA!

yeah it’s 2006 – and Joran lived to see it.

      Just because it’s OH-SIX…

that doesn’t give the IMO pedophile Paulus, Joran
      and the Kalpoes a license
to lie repeatedly, rape teenagee girls, and kill
      with impunity.

A final accounting is in order…

      …and this day is coming.

    55. dennisintn on October 5th, 2006 10:20 am

natalee wasn’t taking drugs or drunk at l0:30 the night she disappeared. nobody else in her group disappeared except natalee after she was seen leaving with, as anita herself calls them, 3 strange boys. except jvds wasn’t strange to them since he’d been hanging around them the whole time they were on aruba, and he had them believing that he was an exchange student staying at the same hotel they were.

    56. Minnesota Dad on October 5th, 2006 10:48 am

This one fact is what this whole case is about. If the Dutch Investigators don’t taking action legally to erase the void judgements, they are not serious about this case.

      Paulus is your perp. md

    57. Joe_Public on October 5th, 2006 11:22 am

I’m not getting a good vibe about any of it and no longer think much will come out of a Dutch investigation. At least Natalee’s memory will leave a legacy behind that might help others. Those that were involved in her disappearance and subsequent cover-up have also sealed their fate as well as the fate of their beloved island.

    58. GretaMAL on October 5th, 2006 11:50 am

      Yep Amsterdamit

What you are saying is if you drink or dope up, you deserve to be murdered, so like how much of living people would still be in your homeland and would the living half be the murderers?

    61. Libby on October 5th, 2006 1:35 pm

Sadly, Joe Public and MN dad, you are 100% correct, the Dutch are NOT interested in solving this case. The blog whereby they intereviewed Natalee’s dad said that the Dutch can’t even reinterview Joran, Paulus or the K brothers. Big surprise. The only thing the Dutch are doing is blowing smoke up our asses…kinda like they have all been doing since day one. The Dutch can’t do anything because they were party to the cover up. I do believe, however, that justice Justice will be served…in a way that will make us all very happy if you know what I mean.

furthermore the Royal Family can’t do **** about Natalees case. they don’t have any power over the police/goverment.

so stop making **** up and think/read/investigate before you write something.

    73. MegaShira on October 5th, 2006 8:16 pm

Gretamal, of course he just want the Natalee case solved ASAP, just like all people here on SM. but he also tries to influance people by making accussations based on nothing and that just pisses me off.

      70# Megashira….

We have heard all of this crap before. Don’t interfere with the investigation. The evidence must stay confidential or it will wreck the case. “We are checking into whether that is Paulus hitting on Natalee the day she was murdered”…etc. etc.

The KLPD needs to VOID all judgements for Paulus Van Der Sloot. There was clear conflict of interest by the ruling judge. In light of this conflict of interest, the decision is not valid…..or is this Dutch law and you allow for conflicts of interest in your system???

Paulus Van Der Sloot is the perp. Without voiding those judgements, the KLPD is in Aruba jerkin off….perhaps they are even hanging out down at C&C’s seeing if they can “get some”. md

      to Mega:

I will take Carpe’s influence anytime over yours !
Carpe is one of the most dedicated here at SM
to finding justice in the case of Natalee Holloway !

    76. MegaShira on October 6th, 2006 7:09 am

The KLPD is in charge of the case for 2 weeks. you honestly believe they have results in an case like this? in this stage of the investigation, with all the cover-ups and stuff, even the FBI can’t have result in 2 weeks time. First they have to read all the files of the case which will take some time. after that they can try to void the judgment. If they go to a judge to get the judgment voided, they need to have all the facts they can find in the files or else a judge can reject the claim. I don’t think a lot of people would like to hear Paul can never be prosecuted because of a mistake by the KLPD.

so you prefer lies above facts? sounds just like Dompig.

    77. Minnesota Dad on October 6th, 2006 10:31 am

The KLPD does not need to review all of the facts. The judge who ruled on the case was a buddy of Paulus’.

Voiding a judgement based on clear conflict of interest has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the facts of the case. It is a decision that clearIt has to do with “high end ticket fixing”.

Reviewing the files does nothing….they have all been papered appropriately to assure there is no evidence against the perp.

Your comments are like all of the early comments. Aruba, and now the Dutch are playing the “delay” game. Delay this case out to May 31, 2007 and then release all suspects because there isn’t enough evidence to convict anyone.

This is how this is going to play out. This is how cover-ups work….delay, delay, delay until everyone tires out and goes away or you can use the law to ‘cheat’ your way out of your misconduct (i.e. statute of limitations). We aren’t going away.

      Paulus is your perp….md

      No lies here, Mega Shira.

      Just another blow-hard Dutchie
playin’ grab-hiney and doin’ a whole
lot of talking and NO DOING.

The Nederland must have been built
      on excuses.

Actually, I am beginning to expect it from the Dutch now.

The Queen ( talking about HER MAJESTYS BO-HUNKUS not Gaydo )

never made even the simplest of statements on

      the Holloway case.

FLAG- That I am aware of…

I am sure the Holloway-Twittys would have

stated the fact if she did. NOTHING… no

help, no words of care or empathy.

      Hey people:

      Just a tip
      on something
      I picked up
      on last night.

      ARUBA’S SILENCE website
      is supposedly going
down for good. ( and by
      choice ) Kathy
      explains why on her
      front page…

      …sheduled turn off date: OCTOBER 29th, 2006

      If there were some things
      that you liked…

      You would probably
be wise to save a copy on your

Joran’s undulating, sweaty, Dutch a$$load of a father

If they had only SUPERVISED these little flea bag, slit throats…

Natalee Ann Holloway would be in college today. She

    86. megashira on October 6th, 2006 9:28 pm

@MD. In the dutch law-system a murdercase must be solved in 15 years before it is called an unsolveble case, not 2 years. (although I don’t know much about the Aruba law-system)

and as I already told. voiding a case must be done by judges not normal policemen (as in most democratic western countries). if a normal policeman could void a case whenever he wants to, there would be a lot more cases with conflic of interest in western counties.

to bad you don’t even give the slightest reaction on the fact the KLPD only got supervision on the case for 2 weeks. 2 weeks isn’t much in a case like the Natalee Holloway case.

again you just show you only can trow mud at people but can’t make any true accusations. as I told you and others before, the queen doesn’t has any power over the police/goverment. by dutch law she isn’t even allowed to tell her personal opinion to the public about anything. her role as “head of state” is entirely symbolic. if you want to complain against the dutch goverment, you need to email the dutch minister of justice (can’t give you his e-mail because the minister has been dismissed a few weeks ago. he was held responsible for the death of a couple of illegal immigrants)

I’m not doing anything???? I’ve come to this site to support Americans in this case. I translated a statement which was completly tranlated wrong on this site and I will help translate whenever it is necessary. I have defended both the USA and Netherlands when I served in Iraq AND Afghanistan (Korps Commandotroepen/Royal Dutch Commandos). I’ve done more for my country then you will ever do for yours in a lifetime. Don’t tell me **** about doing nothing. all you do is yelling at other who have an different opinion then you, just like the left-winged students in Colombia Univercity. We just both want the case to be solved ASAP.

Holland not doing anything? these are the facts:
-KLPD assisted The ALE and FBI during the search on Aruba
-Holland has send special trained dogsquads to Aruba that are trained to find bodies (same squad as the ones that has been searching in New Orleans)
-Royal Dutch Marines searched the Island for possible graves
-Dutch F16s with special cameras (same as used in Bosnia to find graves) scan Aruba for possible graves
-KLPD assisted Aruba in the search near the lighthouse after a tip about a possible grave there
-KLPD now take over the investigation on Aruba.

to this day thousands of Dutch people helped in the search for Natalee. If anything was found and there was a big cover-up by the Dutch, somebody whould already have talked.

      lol @superdave
Amsterdamned writes about Americans visiting Amsterdam and you just call them she-apes.

      @all scared monkeys,

got some positive news about the Dutch PNVD (“pedofhile political party”) they can’t join the Dutch elections. they needed mat least 500 autographes before they could join. they only got 3 (which is exactly the number of people that founded the ********************* party)

Saw my first commercial for Aruba tonite on the FoodNetwork at 8.35pm. It was a 30 second blip with the theme “Dance Aruba”. The VanDerSloots or Kalpoes weren’t in it, at least I didn’t see them, in fact there were no locals in the vid.
‘Dance Aruba – get Drugged on Aruba – Die on Aruba’
It’s a deadly to dance on Aruba, just ask Natalee.

    91. GRETAMAL on October 8th, 2006 12:46 pm

I saw that commercial too. In today’s travel section of the Detroit Free Press they have 3 big ads for Aruba.

there. So they are looking to import some from

    93. GRETAMAL on October 8th, 2006 6:21 pm

Carpe, It is DAY-TWA. Believe me there are alot of them here and I wish they would send them down there.

    94. Lou Emond on September 2nd, 2007 1:24 pm

The two primary obstacles to renewed interest in Aruba are the high cost of commercial flights and the new twenty percent sales tax. We have been coming to Aruba for over 20 years, but we are considering trying to sell our timeshare because it costs too much to fly to the island.
