Natalee Holloway, Update Sat. June 4 Part Two

Now Fox News is reporting that 3 Men Are Top Lead in Missing Ala. Woman Case. Like we said yesterday when the did not refer to them as suspects, yeah right.

Police said Saturday that three men have become “the most important lead” in the case of the Alabama teenager who disappeared in Aruba — and vowed that “there will be developments” in the next few days.

Deputy police chief Gerold Dompig said authorities were investigating the background and story of two Surinamese men and a native of the Netherlands who said they dropped off Natalee Holloway, 18, at the Holiday Inn before dawn Monday.

Dompig declined to call the men suspects, saying they were “persons of interest,” but said the men were “the most important lead.”

From The Las Vegas Sun

Aruban Prime Minister Nelson Oduber said Holloway’s disappearance has dismayed an island that prides itself on its safety and friendliness – a haven for the 500,000 American visitors last year.

“Learning the news of Natalee’s disappearance on our island left us all in a state of shock and disbelief,” Oduber said. “We will not tolerate any activities that harm our American friends or tarnishes Aruba’s reputation.”

Authorities say there is no evidence the honors student was abducted, but police commissioner Jan van der Straaten said “after four or five days you are afraid a crime has been committed.”

CBS5

Ten more FBI agents joined an increasingly desperate search Saturday for an Alabama honors high school student, while police investigated the story of three men who said they dropped her off at her hotel the night she vanished on this tranquil Dutch Caribbean island.

Police, Dutch troops and hundreds of volunteers scouring coastline and beaches for six consecutive days have found no trace of Natalee Holloway, 18.

Holloway, a straight-A student who won awards for volunteering, had earned a full scholarship at the University of Alabama and planned to study premed, said her maternal uncle, Paul Reynolds. He described his niece as a levelheaded girl who would not have done anything rash.

“Natalee is the perfect teenager, on the perfect vacation on a perfect island,” he said. “If something terrible can happen to somebody like Natalee where does that leave the rest of us?”

Holloway’s disappearance has shaken a sense of safety many Arubans long took for granted in an island of 72,000 people that saw one murder and six rapes last year. This year, there have been two murders and three rapes, police said.

“We are upset. We have felt so very safe all the time. Now we are afraid,” said Betty Verbal, a 42-year-old waitress and mother of two. “In all churches, Catholic and Protestant, people are praying for her.”

ArubagrandmapCNN: “Police offer theories on teen’s disappearance”

Aruba police have three theories concerning a missing high school student from Alabama, Aruba’s deputy police chief said Saturday, six days after the student disappeared on a senior trip to the island.

The first theory is that “people of interest” — the three men 18-year-old Holloway was last seen with early Monday morning — may have harmed her.

In a joint news conference with the missing student’s mother, deputy police chief Gerald Dompig said the second theory is that Holloway may have chosen to disappear “on her own accord” and that still a third theory is Holloway may have been kidnapped.

Witnesses said she left in a car with three local young men between the ages of 18 and 25 at about 1:30 a.m. Friends have said they have pictures of her dancing with young men at the club.

Authorities have said they talked to the three men who left with her, and the men claim they took Holloway to nearby Arashi Beach before dropping her off at her hotel at about 2 a.m.

Boy these things are really not adding up.

Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort
Address: J.E. Irausquin Boulevard
Situated on Palm Beach, this attractive, newly renovated high-rise resort is located about 20 minutes from Oranjestad.

How does one go from Oranjestad to Arashi Beach and then to the Holiday Inn in about a half hour? Is there more than one Holiday Inn on the island with 600 rooms?

It is possible to go from Oranjestad to Arashi Beach and then to the Holiday Inn in a half hour, especially at around 1.30 a.m. but under the circumstances I don’t think it would have been likely. One does not go to Arashi Beach without reason.

Some AP reports said the three men took her to the beach and “had sex with her” before returning her to her hotel. The words in quotes were later removed from the wire story. They may have drugged her (roofies?) and she may not have recovered consciousness. They then would have panicked. Another report says the Dutch kid is the son of a local attorney who is defending all three. This story is also not around anymore. The press has been week in covewring this.

Do you think that FNC had anything to do with getting some action on this from the FBI and Aruba officials? Looks like it to me.

    4. Red on June 5th, 2005 1:04 am

      Amy

It would have been possible to drive to both and spend no time there. One did not drive to the beech just to leave 5 seconds later. That makes the story not plausible.

    5. StanMute on June 7th, 2005 10:27 pm

Sounds like the reality is that she left with these three guys to get gangbanged and things got a little rough. She wound up shark food and two poor guys become the scapegoats. The three kids had powerful parents and the two “suspects” are just bums. Don’t think because Aruba is part of the Netherlands that banana republic politics and justice don’t exist there.

    6. Jean on June 8th, 2005 5:46 pm

I’m no psychic but I had a vision that this young woman is tied up in a cave near the water. Alive. Good luck.

    7. paulie on June 9th, 2005 7:24 pm

Enough blame to go around – stupid choices, lies, drugs, hot sex, bad parents, lousy supervision, doping, raping, killing…isn’t this the ultimate end to uber rich youth party scene abuse 100 of them worth one of US?

    8. paulie on June 9th, 2005 7:26 pm

not to say, this is not a child of god, she is and we pray for her safety, but we see all of the other sides of this tragedy oh so well…blck eye peas notwithstanding, this is the ultimate bogeyman in american society…

    9. Kerry on June 11th, 2005 12:56 am

It is so obvious that the rich dutch boy did something sexual with natalee and she may have not wanted to or something may have gone wrong. Either way, she was most likely drunk and not thinking straight and three rich kids took advantage of her and subsequently blamed it on 2 poor black men. its disgusting to me that people can still be so cruel and mean even in this day…..what is our world coming to? Just because someone has money doesnt mean they are a good person.

    10. Lester on June 11th, 2005 1:08 pm

Even though we don’t want to admit it, we know what happened… young chic, alcohol, dancing, possibly drugs, island resort; enter good looking guys: SEX!!! She probably wanted to back out at the last minute~ something bad happened and they all agreed to hide the evidence. Sorry mom and dad but you should have kept a closer eye on your kiddo.

    11. Charlie on June 11th, 2005 3:46 pm

Jean says, “In a cave”. I say, Unlikely. She couldn’t be alive for some 12+ days alone in a cave. Drinking seawater? Poor thing has been done away with by these 3 nasty young men. I feel so sorry for her parents, family and friends. I just hope the rich lawyer doesn’t pull off a cover-up. Even though this is a horrible tradgedy I hope the truth and justice win out and she is returned to her family. The unknown is worse than the truth.

    12. Mark on June 11th, 2005 4:03 pm

Younger people may thinkI’m being uptight or a prude, but how the hell does a group of 18-somethings go to Aruba with ONLY 5-7 CHAPERONES? I guess the MountainBrook School District is not involved. So, in addition to frying the criminals, I suggest that the CHAPERONES are due for a wrongful death suit by the family. Legal drinking age int eh US is 21; so clearly this trip was planned so that inexperienced young people could party their asses off under Aruban/Dutch law. College would’ve been a great, safer place for Natalee to finally cut loose if she chose to… but now thanks to criminal predators and WORTHLESS CHAPERONES (or lack thereof) Natalee is most certainly dead. Odd that there has been no reporting about the adults who were charged with supervising these young, inexperienced and vulnerable children.

    13. Mark on June 11th, 2005 4:12 pm

120 students and 7 chaperones = 17 children per each chaperone… that is ridiculous and totally irresponsible. If Natalee were part of a group of 40 kids going to that casino, HOW MANY CHAPERONES WERE THERE WITH THEM? Which chaperones were charged with bed checks that night? How many of the worthless chaperones were out drinking and screwing (or already passed out at the hotel) while the kids roamed freely without adult supervision???

I’d say there are 7 (or so) Mountain Brook residents that should be planning to get their asses sued by Natalee’s family – I hope they lose everything they have over this and I equally hope these worthless irresponsible adults spend every day of the rest of their lives paying for this tragedy. And if the Mountain Brook ISD and PTA are involved, I pray that theu also pay out the ass for this horrible tragedy.

      This whole story sickens me.

    14. Juliet on June 12th, 2005 3:30 am

operate beach condos in Baja.Mx. students are always wild drinking, but leave in groups and taxi it back. heard of news and bottom line is Natalee was just drunk stupid, a student but no common sense or wisdom when traveling, each hotel and Toursit Office should provide tourist guidelines on saftey, we do!!!!!

    15. Laura on June 12th, 2005 12:50 pm

I THINK NATALEE IS A SWEET GIRL AND I JUST HOPE NOTHING BAD HAPPENED TO HER AND IF SOMETHING DID HAPPEN TO HER THEN THE THREE MEN SHOULD BE CHARGED BECAUSE THEY WERE THE LAST ONES WITH HER AND THE CHAPERONES SHOULD BE CHARGED TOO, BECAUSE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING THERE JOB BY WATCHING HER AND THEY OBVIOUSLY DIDN’T DO THAT SO, BUT THAT IS MY OPINION, JUST DO THE RIGHT THING ABOUT NATALEE AND DON’T SCREW IT UP!!!! PLEASE AND THANK YOU.

    16. bob on June 12th, 2005 1:25 pm

so another blond haired blued eyed girl goes missing and the press is all over it?? what about the minorities??? she was stupid for one, getting drunk and two, leaving with the men!!! she’s in a foreign country…how can anyone expect her to be alive. sorry to be so frank but we all have to be realistic. it’s been almost two weeks and well they are not finding anything. i’m sorry that her family has to go through that but had she made better decisions, that she nor her family would have to go through what they are. Just be realistic and maybe when an African American goes missing or a Hispanic, asian, or whatever other nationality other than white, well hopefully they’ll get as much attention as this blonde girl has. It happens all the time yet only white people get the attention. What a great country to live in huh??

    17. Mike on June 12th, 2005 11:15 pm

The Little Dutch Boy and his two Punjabi sidekicks probably slipped her a roofee and gang-raped her. They’ve most likely done the same thing before with other tourists, only this time things went bad. She probably pulled a Jim Morrison and choked on vomit. They threw her in the ocean and concocted a story. I hope they break them down. The FBI should help. The story reminds me of the Preppy murder in NYC. In fact, the dutch guy looks like the Preppy Murderer. Asshole.

    18. paulie on June 13th, 2005 3:42 am

well, canr’ convict on looks, can we. lovey?

    19. chris on June 14th, 2005 5:00 pm

we can’t say what happened, but if i would imagine that if something happened, the dutch kid panicked, felt horrible, but scared shitless, called his dad, and his dad covered it up, and is now an accomplice, and so now the kid is keeping quiet to protect his dad

here in the US they just told dying sick people they can’t smoke marijuana to ease their pain and yet alcohol results in so many tragic deaths, rapes, and other fucked up situations that could completely be avoided if people avoided alcohol, especially if teens avoided alcohol.

i’d rather see them all getting stoned and falling asleep, but when a good number of our elected officials are alcoholics, or convicted of DUIs, or just drink socially, constantly, you can’t expect our youth to do any differently.

i pray for her spirit, regardless of where it is, and may she help lead investigators to the truth

    20. Alan Albert Snow on June 20th, 2005 10:41 am

I don’t think that the three young men had anything to do with Natalee’s disappearance. They don’t fit the criminal profile. Joran Van Der Sloot is an Honor Student, 17 years old, at his local private International School of Aruba. His father is a judge-in-trainning. His mother is an art teacher at his high school. This is not the type of smart boy who is going to do the stupid things that he is now accussed. I do hope that Natalee is just a run-away (as happens sometimes!) and when she is found, there will be lots of Joran’s neighbors and “former” friends who are going to be eating a plate full of crow. Best Wishes, Alan Snow, Balboa Island, Ca.

    21. Erv on June 21st, 2005 4:10 pm

I think the three got her to the beach after they did what they did someone took her
from them I think she was druged

    22. Jamie on June 23rd, 2005 1:25 am

My theory, from day one, is that the three were tripping on ecstasy, she got all horn-dog with Ducthie (whom she’d met just the day before) because the drug makes you want to get touchy, she overdosed and they panicked. With this Croes guy being arrested, the new element is that he helped supply the drug and, being “obligated”, dumped the body in the ocean (he has a boating license). It is all coming together now.
What people aren’t talking about in this case is that if she left with three guys she’d met only a day earlier, perhaps she was a little easy. Either that, or intensely stupid with shit-for-brains friends (God knows, common sense and book smarts are mutually exclusive). I have a feeling the girl will never be found. If mum says she isn’t leaving Aruba until she finds Natalee, she should probably start looking into real estate.

    23. bryon on June 25th, 2005 12:23 pm

personally i think van der sloot got the hornies for this 5’4″american beauty . his friends then show him how he could do her with the help of certain drugs( in a drink) . being young and stupid (yes he’s only 17 dispite being 6’4″) he botched it up and gave to much. natalie stopped breathing the two brothers said ciao and scrammed , leaving young van der sloot now in panick. he calls papa who knows what will happen to his son and his precious reputation and does the only thing he can. so he calls a young man who he has represented (croes)that owes him a favour and together they dispose of the body now making all 5 partners in an other wise unneedy crime. now they patch some stories spread some rumours and keep there mouths shut!! only two brothers who know they had nothing to do with the murder other than providing the drugs panick!! now its just a matter of time till we see the truth . real tradgidy is that being horny doesn’t make things right!

    24. Jamie on June 26th, 2005 10:15 am

Byron, I think that is as good a theory as any presented. That is the most likely scenario, although I’m suspicious of anyone that rides off with three strangers after knowing them for only a day. Unfortunately, that reeks of “easy”. Nontheless, she did nothing that any other teenager in Aruba wouldn’t do. I’m sure she didn’t deserve whatever happened to her.

    25. Doris on June 30th, 2005 8:52 am

When I visited Aruba, I went on a sightseeing trip. I was taken to a desolate spot on the island where the guide said that every evening the hotels dump their food waste. The sharks gather in this spot to feed The island people do this is keep the sharks away from the beaches. This would be a perfect place to dispost of a body

I can’t believe how cruel some of you idiots are! LESTER, JULIET, BOB, and JAMIE! Your reservations in hell are confirmed!!!

      Thanks, Lexy. Southern Baptist much?

You’re very welcome, Jamie. Actually, it has nothing to do with religious beliefs. You’re totally off base….It has to do with a little thing called compassion. Roman Catholic, BTW!

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that in almost every photo of Natalee her pupils are substanially large? Anyhow, it is now said that she was drinking 150-proof vodka that night and dropping some ecstasy. That is quite a combo. I am a Respiratory Therapist, and I often see teens who vomit and aspirate, causing them to go unconscious. This could have happened and Joran panicked… Either way, I don’t think he intentionally harmed Natalee, I think he panicked and, in a drug induced stupor, didn’t know what to do.
