72 Year Old Gordon VanGilder is Facing Up to 10 Years in Prison for Having an Antique 1700′s Flintlock Pistol in his Car
THIS WEEKS, THIS IS WHAT TYRANNY LOOKS LIKE MOMENT OF THE WEEK … NEW JERSEY, THE GARDEN TYRANNY STATE.
If this New Jersey resident is found guilty and is sentenced to prison time, then this country is lost. Here is today’s quiz, 72 year old Gordon VanGilder is facing up to 10 years in prison for having the which of the following guns in his possession?
- a Ruger 9 mm semiautomatic
- a Smith and Wesson .357 revolver
- an AK-47 or AR-15
- 1770′s Flintlock Pistol
If you answered #4, an 18th century flintlock pistol, you would be correct. In what might be one of the greatest overreach of government and assault on the 2nd Amendment, 72 year old Gordon VanGilder, a former school teacher of 34 years, was pulled over by Cumberland County police. He was later arrested by multiple police officers, hand cuffed and perp walked to the police cruiser for the possession of an antique 1700′s flintlock pistol that could never be mistaken as a self-defense type weapon. In fact the pistol is celebrating its 300th birthday. The entire miscarriage of justice began when VanGuider was pulled over by a Sheriff’s deputy for a minor traffic violation.
WITH ALL THE FRIGGING CRIME YOU HAVE IN NEW JERSEY AND YOU HARASS A 72 YEAR OLD WITH A FLINTLOCK BECAUSE YOU CAN … YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES. BECAUSE I GET A FLINTLOCK AND AN UZI AND MAC-10 CONFUSED ALL THE TIME.
Please watch the below VIDEO and see a real case of police overreach and thanks to the libs and RINO’s in the NJ State legislature, what tyranny looks like. How ironic that we would be discussing a story like this, a day after George Washington’s birthday. You remember him New Jersey, the same guy who before becoming the first President of the United States was a military general during the War of Independence and fought campaigns in New Jersey. Hey maybe he and other might have even used this relic that you are now looking to make a 73 year old man’s life miserable.
The retired teacher is facing a possible 10 years in prison — and the jeopardization of his pension — all because New Jersey state law classifies antique firearms the same way it classifies regular guns, meaning the state views van Gilder’s possession of an antique on par with him possessing a .44 Magnum.
The day after van Gilder told a deputy during a routine traffic stop about his antique gun, four law enforcement officers showed up at his house to arrest him.
72 year old man faces 10 years in prison for antique pistol: ‘Beware of New Jersey’:
Evan Nappen, an attorney who specializes in gun law cases and is representing Mr. Van Gilder, says that even a plea agreement that avoids jail time but convicts Mr. Van Gilder of a felony would likely jeopardize his teacher’s pension he spent 34 years earning, Legal Insurrection reported.
“It’s a mid-1700s flintlock bonafide antique pistol, unloaded, and yet he’s facing the same draconian penalty as if he had a .44 magnum loaded on his person. It doesn’t matter. There’s no distinction,” Mr. Nappen said.
Mr. Nappen said the prosecutor in the case even asked for ballistics testing on the black powder gun — an exercise that experts in the video argued is futile on such an old firearm.
Mr. Van Gilder said he refuses to spend what could be the rest of his life behind bars and declared he isn’t going to go down without a fight.

Newtown, CT Victims’ Families Sue Bushmaster, Manufacturer of AR-15, Gun Used by Adam Lanza in 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School Attack
The Sandy Hook Elementary School murders were unspeakable, however, this lawsuit is misguided and Unconstitutional …
The murders of 27 individuals, 20 of whom were children, at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2012 was a crime so heinous that it was hard to fathom how anyone could be so insane and filled with hate. However, 20 year old gunman Adam Lanza committed this act of violence as he barged into a defenseless elementary school and took part in the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history. Now the families of nine people killed in the Sandy Hook elementary school massacre are suing Bushmaster, a privately held company based in Windham, Maine that manufacture the AR-15. This was the gun that Lanza used in the mass murders.
The 40 page lawsuit, filed in Connecticut Superior Court in Bridgeport, names Bushmaster, the weapons distributor and the retailer, Riverview in East Windor, that sold the gun used in the shooting as defendants. The plaintiffs seeks unspecified monetary damages.
The families of nine people killed in a 2012 massacre at a Newtown, Connecticut, elementary school sued the maker of the gun used in the attack on Monday, saying the weapon should not have been sold because it had no reasonable civilian purpose.
While the AR-15 assault weapon used in the attack on Sandy Hook Elementary School was legally sold in Connecticut, the lawsuit contends that the weapon should not have been available to 20-year-old gunman Adam Lanza. The AR-15 is manufactured by Bushmaster, a privately held company based in Windham, Maine.
Lanza shot dead 20 first-graders and six educators in the Dec. 14, 2012, attack, which stands as one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history. The massacre sparked a fresh debate on gun rights, which are protected by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
“This is a weapon that is designed for military use, for killing as many people as efficiently as possible,” Michael Koskoff, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, said in a phone interview. “It’s negligent for any seller to sell a weapon like that to the general public.”
As tragic as the Sandy Hook Elementary school massacre was and as much we hope that the families affected by this tragedy can move forward from this devastating act of violence at the hands of Adam Lanza, I am sorry but this law suit is misguided. The gun was legally bought by Adam Lanza’s mother, who was also murdered by this sick kid. The guns were legally registered to Nancy Lanza. Adam Lanza was refused the purchase of a firearm as he did not pass back ground checks. If anyone was negligent, one might say it was the mother who shared her gun enthusiasm with her mentally deranged son and did not properly lock them away from this killer. Millions of Americans own AR-15′s and use them for person and civilian use. The notion that plaintiff attorneys say that this weapon is only for military use is incorrect. The AR-15 is not an assault weapon, however, the liberal MSM would like you to think so. What Adam Lanza did was an heinous an act possible … but suing a gun manufacturer that is protected by the Second Amendment and followed all the laws is wrong.
Sandy Hook Families File Wrongful-Death Suit Against Gun Manufacturer:
The lawsuit, hand-delivered to a Connecticut state marshal on Saturday, names as defendants Bushmaster Firearms International LLC, which is owned by Remington Outdoor Co.; Camfour, a company that distributes Bushmaster products; and Riverview Gun Sales, a East Windsor, Conn., gun shop that sold the rifle to Ms. Lanza.
It claims the gunmaker, the firearms distributor, and the store that sold firearm are liable for producing and selling a weapon unfit for civilian use, reports WSJ’s Joseph De Avila.
Remington declined to comment. Camfour and Riverview Gun Sales didn’t return requests for comment.
George Kollitides, the chief executive of Remington Outdoor, told the Washington Times in June 2013 that Mr. Lanza alone, and not the rifle, was to blame for the killings.
“It’s very easy to blame an inanimate object,” he said. “Any kind of instrument in the wrong hands can be put to evil use. This comes down to intent — criminal behavior, accountability and responsibility.”

Rolling Stones … The 5 Most Dangerous Guns in America … Reads Like a 4th Grade Essay
Hey Rolling Stone … please stick to reporting on music, because this article is nothing short of embarrassing.
Rolling Stone has a list of the top 5 most dangerous guns in America as per By Kristen Gwynne. In other words, basically any gun that actually shoots a bullet or buckshot is dangerous. HUH? Looking at the title one might think that Ms. Gwynne was going to provide us a list of the actual brand name and type of guns that are used in most crimes or murders, rather than providing us a 4th grade essay on “Most dangerous Guns in America for Dummies”. My apologies to 4th graders across the United States. How exactly can all guns be the most dangerous guns in America. As The Truth About Guns opines, “In other words, guns are the most dangerous guns in America. Small ones more than big ones, although really small ones not so much. Well that’s just dumb.” YES IT IS. I cannot even call this media bias. it’s media stupidity.
Rolling Stones list of the 5 most dangerous guns:
- Pistols
- Revolvers
- Rifles
- Shotguns
- Derringers
You have got to read the article to get a true appreciation of just how far Rolling Stone has fallen and what passes for news in today media. With regards to a revolver: “Some grenade launchers, shotguns, and rifles also have rotating barrels, but the term ‘revolver’ is generally used to describe handguns. Revolver types include single and double-action firing mechanisms, the latter of which does not require a cocking action separate from the trigger pull”. Rifles on the other hand, “were created to improve the accuracy of smoothbore muskets, for which the musket ball was often an bad fit due to manufacturing complications. Accurate and easy-to-aim, rifles are now the most common hunting weapon.” GOOD GRIEF.
Some one might want to tell Rolling Stones that knives, hands, fists, feet, clubs and baseball bats are more dangerous and actually killed four of the five “guns” referenced above. And look here, for 2012, clubs, blunt objects, hands fists and feet all out-pace firearms.
