ESPN Sports Anchor Stuart Scott Has Died Age 49 after Battle with Cancer … However, He Will Always Be “As Cool as the Other Side of the Pillow”

It is a sad day in sports today, ESPN’s Stuart Scott has passed away at the age of 49 …

The longtime ESPN anchor Stuart Scott died Sunday morning after an extended battle with cancer, he was just 49 years old. Scott joined the ESPN in 1993 as the network was ramping up to launch ESPN2. That was just the launching bad for Scott as he steadily grew into one of ESPN’s most well-known, well liked and respected personalities … “Boo-Yah.” I remember the founding of ESPN in 1978, let along the launch of ESPN2 and let me just say Stuart Scott brought an energy and a fun and off the wall perspective to the broadcast that you truly looked forward to watching it. It is not very often that sports highlights were must-see TV, but that is the talent that this man had. Stuart Scott did the best thing that any sports anchor could do, he provided us with an escape from the real world and made sports fun. He talked about the games, plays and highlights like we would with our friends. God bless you Stuart Scott, our prayers go out to your family and friends … thank you … rest in peace.

Stuart Scoot was first diagnoses with a rare form of cancer in November 2007. He took the vile disease publicly as he allowed us to share in his battle. So many of us either have been in Scott’s shoes or know some one personally who is. Stuart Scott helped us all deal with cancer in our own lives as he battled his. Scott was a beacon of light and remained so positive in his fight against cancer. One of the greatest lessons Stuart showed us all was to not let cancer paralyze you. He lived his life to the end on his terms and that meant being an ESPN sports anchor and commentator to the best of his ability. For 7 years Scott battled cancer and kept the attitude that “fighting was winning, not quitting, not saying I have cancer, I can t do anything. ” Scott maintained the only way you lose against cancer is to not fight it and to just lay down and have a pity party for yourself.

His personality was infectious … Rest is peace Stuart Scott, you will forever be “as cool as the other side of the pillow.”

To all who have cancer, have known those who have cancer or currently know some one who is battling cancer, we need to remember the words that  Stuart Scott said during his speech after receiving the Jimmy V Perseverance Award at the ESPYS on July 16, 2014. “When you die, it does not mean you lose to cancer. You beat cancer in how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live. So live, live, fight like hell. And when you get too tired to fight then lay down and rest and have some body else fight for you. That’s also very important. I can’t do this “don’t give up thing” by myself. I got thousands of people on Twitter and on the streets who encourage me.”

Stuart Scott, a longtime anchor at ESPN, died Sunday morning at the age of 49.

Among the features of the new ESPN studio in Bristol is a wall of catchphrases made famous by on-air talent over the years. An amazing nine of them belong to one man — from his signature “Boo-Yah!” to “As cool as the other side of the pillow” to “He must be the bus driver cuz he was takin’ him to school.”

That man is Stuart Scott, and his contributions to the sports lexicon are writ large. But they are only one aspect of his legacy. When he passed away, he left behind so much more. He inspired his colleagues with his sheer talent, his work ethic and his devotion to his daughters, Taelor, 19, and Sydni, 15. He defied convention and criticism to help bring this network into a new century. He spoke to the very athletes he was talking about with a flair and a style that ESPN president John Skipper says, “changed everything.”

“He didn’t just push the envelope,” says sports radio host and former ESPN anchor Dan Patrick. “He bulldozed it.”

Stuart Scott was honored for his fight against cancer at the 2014 ESPY Awards, where he became the latest recipient of the Jimmy V ESPY Award for Perseverance. The award named for college basketball coach Jim Valvano, whose life was also taken by cancer in 1993, and who gave probably one of the greatest speeches in sports history that speaks to one’s everyday life, “Don’t Give Up, Don’t Ever Give Up”.

It has been previously reported that he certainly was not attending daily Intelligence meetings, I guess he was too busy watching Sports Center, DaDaDa, DaDaDa! The United States has a record number of people on Food Stamps, unemployed and underemployed and this clown is watching Sports Center. I guess we now know what Obama was doing during Benghazi.

Why doesn’t Obama do the country a favor and quit the presidency and become an anchor on ESPN, please!

President Barack Obama was a guest on ESPN’s “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd this morning. Obama started with a plug for the Obamacare website and how it’s working these days, but he went to on to discuss sports, his viewing habits and not wanting to hear political talk on TV.

“I spend most of my time watching ESPN in the morning. I get so much politics; I don’t, you know, want to be inundated with a bunch of chatter about politics during the day,” President Obama told ESPN radio.

ESPN’s Samantha Ponder Shreds Florida St QB Jameis Winston … “We’re Asking that You Don’t Lie, You Don’t Cheat, You Don’t Steal, and You Don’t Disrespect Women.”

ESPN’s Samantha Ponder rips Florida State QB Jameis Winston for his conduct and lack of character. During Saturday’s ESPN College Game Day, Samantha Ponder said what should be the obvious in what we expect not only from Jameis Winston, but from all  individuals, and not just college athletes.

“Here’s what I’m not buying. I’m not buying that the expectations are too high. Here’s what we’re asking from him: We’re asking that you don’t lie, you don’t cheat, you don’t steal, and you don’t disrespect women,” Ponder said. “And I know people want to say, ‘Oh, he’s naive and there’s some immaturity there.’ I just think we’re not giving him enough credit. He knows right from wrong. He understands that the things he’s done are wrong but he continues to make those same mistakes.”

ESPN Hires Former Heisman Trophy Winner and SEC Great Tim Tebow as SEC Network Sports Analyst

Tim Tebow gets a new gig, although not as quarterback in NFL … Tewbow back where he belongs, the SEC!!!

Tim Tebow, the former University of Florida Gator, Heisman Trophy winner and NFL QB, has been hired as a football analyst for the SEC Network. Tim Tebow said of his new position,  “I am so excited that ESPN has given me this incredible opportunity. When I was six years old I fell in love with the game of football, and while I continue to pursue my dream of playing quarterback in the NFL, this is an amazing opportunity to be part of the unparalleled passion of college football and the SEC.”

We wish Tebow the best of luck in his endeavors. I think he is a class act and only wish he had been given an opportunity in the NFL. With the quarterback play I have seen, or the lack thereof, no one can tell me he could not have helped a team do better than they did. Look what he did in Denver, even with management and GM John Elway rooting against him.

Former Florida quarterback and Heisman winner, Tim Tebow, has been hired as a college football analyst for the SEC Network launching in August 2014. Through a multi-year agreement, Tebow’s primary role will be as an analyst for SEC Nation, the network’s traveling pregame show that will originate from a different SEC campus each week beginning August 28, 2014. In the months leading up to launch and after, he will contribute to a variety of ESPN platforms including SportsCenter, ESPN Radio, and the network’s Heisman Trophy coverage, offering in-depth perspective as a legendary Southeastern Conference player.

The SEC Network:

The Southeastern Conference and ESPN have signed a 20-year agreement through 2034 to create and operate a multiplatform network which will launch in August 2014. The new network and its accompanying digital platform will air SEC content 24/7 including more than 1,000 events in its first year.

I can only wonder at what point SEC and Tebow morals and God will clash with PC liberal ESPN. Just saying.

President Barack Obama Says His Dream Job Would Be To Host ESPN’s Sports Center After He Retires

Obama says he wants to be an ESPN Sports Center host after he retires as president. Scared Monkeys says, why wait …

HOPE & CHANGE … Well now we know what Barack Obama’s master plan was in getting the job as president of the United States. It was a resume builder for his dream job, to be a host at ESPN’s Sports Center. As stated at Hot Air, now it makes sense why Obama has devoted so much time and effort to March Madness brackets, the Super Bowl, and the World Series for the last five years “while casually mucking up giant parts of his day job” as president. I say, why wait? Please just quit now and go to ESPN, please! Although I will also sadly say that he is probably more qualified to be an ESPN host than he is president. I guess we now know why he takes the job so seriously.

Just don’t let him be the new Jimmy “the Greek” picking sports games, as Barack the Socialist is not very good at picking “winners and losers”.  I can see Lee Corso on Game Day doing a perpetual loop of “NOT SO FAST!”

If you have any doubt as to how much of a sports junkie Barack Obama is, check in with the entertainment moguls who attended a private briefing with the president Nov. 26 before his speech at Jeffrey Katzenberg’s DreamWorks Animation campus in Glendale.

At the end of the conversation — which touched on a myriad of topics, from piracy to Iran — Obama revealed what’s at the top of his bucket list post-White House: “At least I know what I want to do when I retire … host ESPN SportsCenter’s Top 10 list,” Obama quipped as he turned to Disney’s Robert Iger, whose empire includes ESPN.

Weasel Zippers some what agrees,  “Well, he is an expert at reading off a teleprompter”.

However, I would remind all as I did intern for a short period of time at a news outlet that everything is not provided to hosts on a teleprompter. Many times a producer is talking in your ear and you have to ad-lib. I would suggest that Barack Obama nt use the video below as his audition tape.
