American Band Stand & New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’s Dick Clark Dead at the Age of 82 … Rest in Peace

It is the death of an American icon … TV legend Dick Clark, the world’s oldest teenager dead at the age of 82.

It is truly a sad day as a piece of my childhood died today as Dick Clark passed away at the age of 82. According to reports, Dick Clark passed away from a massive heart attack at St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, CA. The man was a part of millions of people’s homes. The oldest teenager has passed … Dick Clark will be missed.

Who didn’t grow up with Dick Clark ringing in the New Year with “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve? I can remember the very first one transitioning from Guy Lombardo to a more hip way to ring in the New Year. I cannot remember a year that Dick Clark was not a part of my New Year’s except in 2004, when Clark suffered a stroke that left him partially paralyzed and struggling to speak. I have to admit that the following year when a speech impaired Dick Clark counted down 2005, several tears came rolled down my face as Mr. Clark struggled through the countdown that had been the trademark of his career.

Dick Clark, the creator of “American Bandstand” and “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” died Wednesday morning.

He was 82.

Clark suffered a massive heart attack after entering St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica on Tuesday night for an outpatient procedure, his family said in a statement.

Attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Clark had suffered a stroke in 2004, which forced him to significantly curtail his hosting of “New Years’ Rockin’ Eve,” a show he created in 1972.

American Bandstand – Dick Clark – 2/12/66

ABC News has more from the life and time of Dick Clark and the New York Times.

Born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., on Nov. 30, 1929, Richard Wagstaff Clark began his lifelong career in show business began before he was even out of high school. He started working in the mailroom of WRUN, a radio station in upstate New York run by his father and uncle. It wasn’t long before the teenager was on the air, filling in for the weatherman and the announcer.

“American Bandstand’s” formula was simple. Clean-cut boys and girls danced to the hottest hits and the newest singles. In between, Clark chatted with the teens, who helped “rate-a-record,” turning songs into sensations. Everyone showed up on “American Bandstand,” from Elvis Presley to Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry to Chubby Checker.

“Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” on ABC became a Dec. 31 tradition, with Clark hosting the festivities for more than three decades, introducing the entertainment acts and, of course, counting down to midnight as the ball dropped in New York’s Times Square.

Rest in Peace Dick Clark … you brought so much joy to so many. You will forever be a part of News year’s forever. God Bless.

CNN Does Anything for Ratings … New Year Eve Host Kathy Griffin Strips Down to Underwear & Begs Anderson Cooper to take His Off

Kathy Griffin’s clothes drop prior to the ball …

With CNN’s low ratings, it is obvious that they will do anything for ratings … thus, off come Kathy Griffin’s clothes. It is obvious that CNN wants the awkward banter between Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin. For a square, Anderson Cooper made the comment, “you got a rockin body”.

Before the ball dropped in Time Square New York last night ushering in 2012 … CNN’s New Years Eve host Kathy Griffin’s clothes dropped down to her underwear in from of a supposed shocked Anderson Cooper. Sorry, after year after year of comedian Kathy Griffin’s antics on New Years Eve, this cannot come as a shock to CNN. One might even think that it is scripted. Although edgy, Girffin’s actions last night were actually far more tame than in previous years like THIS and THIS.

Tournament of Roses Parade … “Just Imagine” a Parade Void of Occupy Rose Parade Parasite Protesters & Foolish Octopus Float

The Theme of the 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade is “Just Imagine”.

I am sure that most can “JUST IMAGINE” a 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade without any presence of the Occupy Rose Parade protesters. The Occupy protesters plan on perpetuating their “parasite” movement by marching the parade route after the floats and marching bands have passed. Actually, they have no choice. They are not allowed to be a part of the actual Tournament of Roses Parade, the floats, marching bands and others are specially allowed to do so by invitation only.

Make no mistake about it, the Occupy Rose Parade protesters goal was initially to ruin the parade and interject themselves into it so that millions of people would see them. They wanted to march in the actual parade. You can see their intentions from their own web site, something the Pasadena police saw as well. You can see their disdain for the Tournament of Roses parade by their comments, “This is the real Rose Parade, and the other is the Rose Charade,” and “the Rose Parade is an ideal messaging vehicle. Not only has it become far too militarized (see, for example, the choice of this year’s 2012 Grand Marshall, J.R. Martinez– an Iraq war soldier) and far too corporatized with major banks & financial institutions increasingly underwriting many of the floats.”

As reported at the LA Times:

Occupy protesters are busy finishing their float that will run at the end of the Rose Parade: a 70-by-40-foot octopus made of recycled plastic bags.

The octopus, said activist Mark Lipman of Los Angeles, represents Wall Street’s stranglehold on political, cultural and social life, with tentacles “that reach into your pocket to get your money and a tentacle to get your house.”

“This is the real Rose Parade, and the other is the Rose Charade,” said Pete Thottam, 40, an Occupy activist.

The Occupy Rose Parade protesters claim that they will be peaceful. We shall see. The only reason why that may occur is because the police presence has been stepped up, thanks to these folks. However, there are a lot of concerns about security. Not because of terrorism, but because of Occupy Rose Parade protesters. Nice. When asked whether anybody was going to do anything … the spokesman in the VIDEO above said, “we can’t control anything what people want to say or what they do”. REALLY? yes you can. In other words, these people are already distancing themselves from possible out of control actions by those that they have taught how to act.

I can only hope that the MSM gives these protesters no free PR. We implore that HGTV, NBC and ABC provide these individuals with no coverage. The presentation of the parade is not supposed to be political. If you allow this, you will ruin this event forever. This parasite movement needs events like the Rose parade to get attention … DON’T GIVE IT TO THEM!

UPDATE I: Please, they had to work with police and Tournament of Roses officials on how not to disrupt the parade. Seriously? You mean these brain surgeons don’t know how not to disrupt an event REALLY? Why does the media continue to say they are marching in the parade? They are not. The parade is over when they are marching with their octopus float. A note to the MSM, stop misrepresenting that these parasites are doing.

Sanchez says he’s met with representatives from the Occupy movement several times, and while the protesters won’t be allowed to march in the official parade, they will be able to walk the route right after the last float goes by.

After the parade is over, maybe the Occupy Rose Parade protesters can make themselves useful and pick up the horse dung.

Occupy Pasadena Protesters Look to Ruin the Tournament of Roses New Years Day Parade

There is a time and place for protests, the New Years Day Tournament of Roses Parade happens not to be one of them.  I will say this, that if these fools mar this event in front of millions of onlookers, they will permanently seal their fate.

The Occupy Wall Street Pasadena protesters look to ruin the Tournament of Roses Parade and march in the parade against corporate greed. Huh? Maybe some one should tell these leaches that the individuals, bands, and organizations that are picked to march in the parade are done so years in advance. Lt. Plhunte Riddle of the Pasadena Police Department stated the protesters have the right to walk down the street after the conclusion of the parade. Maybe they can make themselves useful and pick up the horse dung after the parade is concluded.

Although an Occupy Wall Street protest group in Pasadena, Calif., tried to get a slot to march in the Rose Parade upcoming on Jan. 2, officials with the parade said no. The group now plans to march along after the end of the parade to protest what they view as corporate greed.

In November, the Occupy group announced its plans to “occupy” the parade, but the Pasadena Tournament of Roses provided a statement on Wednesday to CNSNews.com saying that protesters would “not be taking part in the Rose Parade” because only official entries, approved by the tournament well in advance of the event, can take part in the event.

a person who receives support, advantage, or the like, from another or others without giving any useful or proper return, as one who lives on the hospitality of others.

The following comes from the parasites at OccupytheRoseParade.org. It is true, these protesters are parasites. They need a host in order to survive, they cannot do things, i.e. protests, on their own because no one would give a flip they were even there.  I truly hope that the media covering the Tournament of Roses parade, ABC, NBC and HGTV do not actually cover these individuals who  look to get free publicity off the backs of others, namely the sponsors that they protesters so detest.

The site also states: “Please join us on-site in Pasadena on Jan 1-2, 2012 for an Occupy Human Float and demonstration that will be seen by 50 million Americans and 200,000,000 people around the world — LIVE. Our primary messages ‘Corporate Money Out of Politics,’ ‘OCCUPY’ & ‘Corporations are Not People.’”

Check out the reason why they think its ok to interfere with an event. Who died and made these dirt bags the decision makers of America? The Occupy protesters hate the US military and troops as seen by their disdain that the 2012 Grand Marshall, J.R. Martinez dare be an Iraq war soldier.

Why Occupy the Rose Parade? The answer is simple.

The Rose Parade is an ideal messaging vehicle. Not only has it become far too militarized (see, for example, the choice of this year’s 2012 Grand Marshall, J.R. Martinez– an Iraq war soldier) and far too corporatized with major banks & financial institutions increasingly undwriting many of the floats. Tens of thousands will converge to protest the complete breakdown of U.S. Justice & Wall Street’s revolving door and the 1%’s de facto control & takeover of America’s political, cultural & economic systems.
I.e., the corporate/banking takeover of public spaces & the militarization of events such as the Pasadena Rose Parade.

How pathetic is it that cities have to pay more money by beefing up law enforcement to deal with these menaces? Pasadena police had to ramp up for Occupy the Rose Parade protesters. You know when police must ramp up for events, when there are terror concerns. You make the comparisons.

In response to the planned demonstration by Occupy, the Pasadena Police Department has doubled down on the number of law enforcement agents that will patrol the streets and skies during the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game on Jan. 2, police Lt. Phlunte Riddle said.

The exact number of additional police officers, sheriff’s deputies, California Highway Patrol officers and federal agents remains secret.

“We have partnered with federal, state and local agencies and have sufficient coverage for the Rose Parade,” Riddle said. “We have increased staffing this year but what the number is, is something we don’t share.”
