CNN’s Classy New Year’s Eve … Kathy Griffin Says on Live TV: ‘I Don’t Come to Your Job and Knock the D*CKS Out of Your Mouth’

Thanks CNN for ringing in the New Year with such class. CNN, what exactly did you think you were getting when you put Kathy Griffin in a live setting with a live mike? You knowingly did it for the shock value and got burned. It must be a proud new year at CNN studios. Maybe next year Anderson Cooper’s co-host can be Howard Stern?

For 40+ years I have watched Dick Clark and Guy Lombardo bring in the new year and I can’t quite say I have ever seen or heard anything quite this low rent. How sad that this is what we have come to.

I guess there is a reason why Dick Clark has been hosting New Years Eve events from Time Square for some 37 years and CNN has not. CNN may want to rethink ever doing it again after this past debacle. If you missed it, CNN wished America a Happy New Year by having potty mouth, co-host Kathy Griffin say lash out at an off screen heckler and dropped the “D” word. Let’s say it rhymes with sick. It is rather appropriate that she use the “D” word as she is nothing more than a “D” list performer.

“Shut up, you know what screw you, I’m working. Why don’t you get a job buddy. You know what, I don’t come to your job and knock the D*CKS out of your mouth.”

COMIC KATHY LASHES OUT AT HECKLER ON CNN

CNN Edits Kathy Griffin’s Blue Moment

My question to CNN is why did you edit Griffin’s comments? Did you expect wholesome family value comments from potty mouth? You hired her for exactly this purpose … you just happened to get burned.

The raunchy exchange, which occurred well after the ball dropped at midnight, was received with guffaws by the camera crew.

Co-host Anderson Cooper, who spent the night playing the role of straight man to Griffin’s antics, then managed to break for commercial – although by that point, he could barely keep a straight face.

Cooper seemed to become increasingly uncomfortable with Griffin’s off-color remarks, including her request to “get a pap smear from [CNN medical reporter] Dr. Sanjay Gupta,” and her description of former CNN host Glenn Beck as a “heroin addict Mormon.”

UPDATE I: HAPPY #*%! NEW YEAR TO YOU, TOO!

How are we supposed to fight a war on terror when the American citizens get so bent out of shape over name calling (Imus) and the use of cuss words?

    2. Susan on January 2nd, 2009 8:46 am

Kathy Griffin is an insulting, vulgar, uneducated PIG! I couldn’t believe the garbage spewing from her big mouth! Yep, CNN stooped pretty low by allowing her to co-host anything.

    3. Michelle on January 2nd, 2009 8:51 am

Kathy Griffin is a loud mouthed b***h. I never have liked her, she’s not even the slightest bit funny.

What is it with comedian’s that they think they have to be vulgar to be funny?

I’m getting really sick of all these celebrities and their big mouths. I’m to the point of not wanting to watch their movies or shows because of it. Why can’t they just do their jobs and shut the hell up?

I actually felt sorry Anderson Cooper. How awful that he had to be up close to that nonsense. At least we could all change the channel.

    5. jEEp on January 2nd, 2009 10:11 am

I agree with #3. That is why I watched the folks on Fox News ring in the new year with class. Something that Kathy would know nothing about. As for Anderson, well, he is not my favorite by a long shot either, but I have to say that he was put in a no win situation with that one.

Kathy is an outrageous low life pig and should be censored…

    7. Katablog.com on January 2nd, 2009 10:56 am

What was CNN thinking? Has anyone ever heard Kathy Griffin say two sentences together that didn’t include something nasty?

OH, how unpleasant, that gal really has an attitude….!!!

      #1 Levi,

You can fight a war on terror w/o having a person on TV being a potty-mouthed A$$.

Get a clue dude. Like one has anything to do with the other. While you are getting a clue, get some manners and class too.

No surprise there … some foul-mouthed lamebrain gets to go on TV because she’s a ‘celebrity,’ and demonstrates to the world what she’s made of.

I don’t think that this behavior will affect her much, though. Isn’t the whole ‘celebrity’ thing about being as offensive and obnoxious as possible? And that stirs up furor, and that draws attention, and that pleases advertisers….

      My answer: I don’t have a TV.

Happy new year, everyone! My computer is in drydock right now, but I’m hoping to be back here regularly pretty soon. Be well….

      What a low class broad.

    12. rightknight on January 2nd, 2009 2:36 pm

Proof that with enough putty and paint
even a lowly gutter snipe can take on the
      external veneer of real comedian.

    13. Sweet_Thang on January 2nd, 2009 3:14 pm

This latest outburst from zero-talent POS Kathy Griffin will no doubt advance her career another level. This witch’s last attention-grabber was to accept some award (I can’t be bothered looking into the details), and in her acceptance speech said something like “Jesus had nothing at all to do with my winning it…”, but her actual words were much more insulting and revolting.

Yep, this should land this foul-mouthed z-list b*tch all kinds of work in 2009. Thank God for remotes! She’s about as funny and entertaining as diarrhea. In fact, they should rename it Kathy Griffin disease.

That’s one reason why I stopped watching T.V.

      T{rash} V{ille}.

I figure, if I wouldn’t have that type of person in my home,

Why would I allow them to broadcast their garbage in it?

The world has gone amok… GROSS!

    15. Pat in Alabama on January 2nd, 2009 5:45 pm

High 5 to Richard and Hope for no TV! I got rid of cable in 2003 due to difficulty controlling what my eldest would turn on. We can still get all the garbage we need on the local channels which carry the 3 major networks. We mostly watch DVD sets of TV from the good ole days. The shows were much better back then. When we first got rid of cable my kids carried on like it was the end of the world, but recently I offered to get it again and they decided they didn’t care anything about it.

#3 Michelle – you are so right. These celebrities are so important in their own minds! Reminds me of an old Steely Dan song with some vulgarity of its own, but it makes the point. “Show business kids making movies of themselves, you know they don’t give a **** about anybody else…”

    16. Lisa on January 2nd, 2009 8:34 pm

I see that Kathy loves her some plastic surgery! That nose is new.

      Pat:

I did it when my kids were teenagers, too. They both played Premier Soccer. Their friends would come over and say, ‘it’s so peaceful, here.’ They loved to hang out and listen to music. I, always, encouraged music.

      Michelle #3:

      Laugh my ass off!

      Richard:

I think Richard has some work to do.

      He’s the best!

    18. Kay Zee Ess on January 3rd, 2009 12:51 pm

      I dunno…

They had a Rod Serling Twilight Zone marathon on Sci-Fi network that we were watching and when the hour came we switched to a local channel for a few and wished one and all a Happy New Year.

Celebrities don’t do much for me in terms of events like these. I used to enjoy old W.C.Fields movies one local channel played decades ago every New Years Eve. but they stopped. Probably not politically correct anymore. Oh, well.

Happy New Year, guys and gals.

    19. txchic on January 3rd, 2009 1:02 pm

i’m not an anderson fan but i feel a twinge of empathy for him. griffin is a dried up has been & only pays her bills by using shock value. wasn’t there a day when she had a real job as an actress?

    20. Ben on January 3rd, 2009 1:36 pm

I don’t see it as that big a deal, although KG has never really impressed me.
Her humor is more fitting for stand-up comedy..and as such there are better.
I still think Cesar Millan should have got an award over her for his show. At least he is performing a service.

Happy New Year to You, too.

      Scared Monkeys,

I am hoping I did not come off as rude. That was not my intention.

I’m just not the sort of person who gets bent out of shape over cussing, or someone saying something offensive.

I think we as Americans just need to stop being so delicate.

I don’t like Kathy Griffin because she is annoying, her voice is annoying, and she is a left winger…

Face it, it isn’t like anyone was watching CNN the Communist News Network anyway… The only show on there worth watching is Nancy Grace. Other than that, I watch Fox News.

I won’t be watching CNN anymore along with quite a few others. Griffin is a lowlife ((edit)) and she is bringing this country down to more lower levels. CNN claims they are a class act and reports on solving todays onslaught of sexual imagery, drugs, crime etc. and yet they let this ((edit)) do her slimey antics. CNN just contributes to the downgrading of our society. Turning a special holiday tradition with kids watching into a freakshow is truely reprehensible.
