The Aruba Theory of Relativity; Dompig and the Kalpoes
(Vanderbilt – ‘06)
Just when you thought that the theory of relativity meant one thing, in Aruba it seems to have a whole different meaning. The latest controversy of whether the Kalpoes and former lead investigator Gerold Dompig are related has arose again. Let alone the prospects that Dompig is the brother in law of Boeti, a supposed witness to seeing Natalee Holloway who is as credible as the sand dune witness who stated they knew where Natalee was buried.

Aruban Facade: What Happens in Aruba … Stays In Aruba
(Vanderbilt – ‘06)
The investigation into the disappearance of Natalee Holloway has proved to be the ultimate “catch 22” for Aruban authorities and the tourism industry (AHATA). Project a positive image at all cost and act like nothing ever happened to to preserve the dollars that come in through tourism vs. revealing the truth, provide a competent investigation and make solid arrests no matter who is implicated. Activities as to what actually goes on in Aruba are never to be shown or mentioned to the tourists.
A Caribbean island vacation spot where tourism takes precedent over the competent investigation of the disappearance of a tourist that came and paid to come to Aruba. The way in how this was handled and continues to be should be a written and visual aid to the rest of the Caribbean as a “what not to do” book.
One of the interesting by-products of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway is the active involvement of schools, teachers, parents and students in discussing safety and Spring Break trips this year. Beth Twitty in her “Save Yourself” tour points out the many pit falls and ways to maintain safety for students traveling abroad or in the United States.
Contrast that with what Aruba has done in response to the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba. Has anything changed how business is conducted at Carlos N’ Charlies? Are they still serving minors? Are the bar tenders still serving people to the point of over-intoxication? Are the casions still allowing underage people in the casinos, let alone gambling in them?
A few casinos in Aruba are open 24 hours a day. Hours vary seasonally, so please check before making plans. No one under 18 is allowed in the casinos.
How really have things changed on Aruba? What have they done?

The Never Ending Saga of Dompig’s Demotion, Removal, Request To Leave from the Natalee Holloway Case
The soap opera of what is the Gerold Dompig firing, reorganization, demotion, and removal from the Natalee Holloway investigation is a microcosm of the investigation itself. Confused and questionable at best. There are more versions of what took place to cover up the fact that Gerold Dompig had done enough PR damage with his nearly blaming the victim of her own demise from a drug overdose.
First the family was ti blame for the arrest of the three suspects prematurely, yet Dompig does not account for the initial arrest of the two security guards. Then Gerold Dompig states that Natalee was not murdered, but instead died of an apparent accidental overdose.
All in all, a rather peculiar time to just step down from the case on one’s own accord. So much for the “critical last phase” that Gerold Dompig referred to in his 48 Hours interview.
We first learned of Dompig’s demotion in a Diario (4/5/06). He won’t be saying anything more on the Natalee Holloway case Commissioner Dompig practically without power Dolfi Richardson now heads Natalee Holloway case
We continued to look for information and it results that Commissioner Gerold Dompig is not at the head of the investigation into the case of Natalee Holloway. Neither is the substitute High Commissioner, now that Mr. Ronny Bernadina is no longer there.
Followed up by an article in Bon Dia (4/6/06), “Gerold Dompig remains spokesperson but not head of the Natalee Holloway investigative team“.

Bon Dia: Gerold Dompig remains spokesperson but not head of the Natalee Holloway investigative team
Bon Dia Aruba; April 6, 2006
WHY? Dompig has done about as good a job as spokesperson as he has done as lead investigator. Who is he speaking to? Certainly not the family or the family’s attorney John Q. Kelly.
Gerold Dompig remains spokesperson but not head of the Natalee Holloway investigative team
ORANJESTAD — Commissioner Gerold Dompig remains as the person in charge of the investigation of the case of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. This was declared yesterday morning by Minister Rudy Croes during a press conference. At the same time, the Minister indicated that although h preferred for inspector Dolfi Richardson to be the spokesperson for this case, Richardson himself asked for Dompig to remain the spokesperson, due to his knowledge of the case. As such, Dompig was re-appointed as spokesperson for this case.

Gerold Dompig Removed from Natalee Holloway Investigation
Only a couple of weeks after Gerold Dompig appeared on CSB 48 Hours stating that the Natalee Holloway investigation was in its final critical stage; Deputy Chief Dompig finds himself off the case. Gerold Dompig was removed from the case and replaced by Adolph Richardson.
NBC13 News spoke to Natalee Holloway’s father, Dave, on Wednesday, and he confirmed that Aruba’s deputy chief of police, Gerold Dompig, has been released from the search. Neither Holloway nor other Aruban investigators are saying specifically why Dompig has been removed.
From Dompig’s comments during the Vanity Fair article to the 48 Hours interview; he stated some rather inappropriate comments in all but saying that Natalee Holloway was responsible for her own death with a drug overdose. As Gerold Dompig stated, “NATALEE HOLLOWAY WAS NOT MURDERED.”
Dompig’s actions according to Natalee’s dad, Dave Holloway have been suspect at best.
