James Brian Hellwig, WWE’s The Ultimate Warrior Dies at Age 54 … Rest in Peace … “I would give a few years of the life I have left to go back and experience that kind of thing again.”

REST IN PEACE ULTIMATE WARRIOR …

TMZ is reporting that James Brian Hellwig, better known to Pro-wrestling fans as the Ulimate Warrior has collapsed outside of  an Arizona hotel at 5:50 PM on April 8th while walking to his car with his wife. The Ultimate Warrior was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. No cause of death has been stated. The Warrior was just 54 and is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters.

Triple H just tweeted, “Saddened to announce the passing of the Ultimate Warrior. Icon and friend. My sympathy to his wife Dana and his daughters.”

Hulk Hogan — Warrior’s greatest rival — has also tweeted, “RIP WARRIOR. only love. HH”

How very sad, one of the legendary wrestlers from pro-wrestling’s golden age, The Ultimate Warrior has passed. His death comes just mere days after he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, his appearance over the weekend at WrestleMania 30 and on Monday Night Raw. It does seem rather odd after all the bad blood over the years between The Ultimate Warrior and Vince McMahon, CEO of the WWE, that The Warrior would finally be embraced, return to the WWE and be inducted into the Hall of Fame, only to die days later. However, from the video above of The Warriors rather personal and  reflective induction speech, at the 1:18 mark he says, “I would give a few years of the life I have left to go back and experience that kind of thing again.”  Honestly, looking back on it all, he did not look well. More to follow, but I think we will learn that he had an undisclosed illness.

Ultimate Warrior talks about his legendary career

Statement from The WWE:

WWE is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever, The Ultimate Warrior.

Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and quickly went on to become one of the biggest stars in WWE history. Warrior became WWE Champion at WrestleMania VI, defeating Hulk Hogan in an epic encounter.

We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at WrestleMania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans.

WWE sends its sincere condolences to Warrior’s family, friends and fans.

Warrior was 54 and is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters.

Barack Obama Flubs the Spelling of “Rspect”, Oops “Respect” While Praising Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul … Obama Got Swag, Really?

Teleprompter reading mishap alert … Anurag Kashyap has nothing to fear from President Barack Obama.

Hmm, the president who does not know how many states there are in the United States, also appears to have no clue how to spell the word respect. Barack Obama misspelled the word “respect” while giving praise to Aretha Franklin at a tribute to the Queen of Soul. Obama managed to spell it “R-S-P-E-C-T.” Are you kidding me, Really? This brought to us by the most intelligent, smartest president ever with an IQ off the chart, or so they say.  Who find else finds it telling that Obama can’t spell the word respect?

Mr. Obama paid tribute to Franklin for turning her signature song “Respect” into “a rallying cry for African-Americans, women and then everyone who felt marginalized.”

The pumped-up audience gave a hearty laugh but was more than willing to forgive the president for spelling it “R-S-P-E-C-T.”

In addressing the crowd, Mr. Obama said, “When Aretha first told us what R-S-P-E-C-T meant to her…”

The media and late night comedy shows HERE and HERE crucified John Travolta for botching the name of Idina Menzel at the Oscars, but where are they with Obama’s screw up? Oh that dreaded “E”. But of course there is no media bias.  Just ask former VP Dan Quayle how the media dealt with him with his extra added “E”.

No wonder he has never released his college transcripts.

UPDATE I: Imagine that Maureen Dowd and I actually agree on something … “IF you can’t spell it, you can’t get it.”

I had asked above, “Who find else finds it telling that Obama can’t spell the word respect?” It would appear one person who did was of all people was the NY Times Maureen Dowd. Barack Obama most certainly does have a “Swag” and “respect” problem. However, Patti LaBelle seems to think BO’s got Swag. YIKES, let’s hope that Patti does not mean the urban dictionary version. I thing she meant “SWAGG”. In any event, it would seem that Obama does not know how to spell respect, and LaBelle does not know what the definition of Swagg is.

President Obama pulled a Quayle Thursday night at a White House performance by the women of soul and muffed the title of Aretha Franklin’s anthem. “R-S-P-E-C-T,” he said, looking a bit confused and eliciting laughter.

When Patti LaBelle took the stage, she told Obama, “Baby, you’ve got swag.”

Swag and respect are exactly what the president needs. He’s got a swag gap with Russia. His administration, after belatedly figuring out what was going on in Ukraine, is improvising as the uber-swaggering Vladimir Putin once more rolls in with tanks anywhere he likes.

Legendary Child Star Shirley Temple Passes Away at age 85 … Rest in Peace

Arguably the most famous child star ever has passed away …

This hardly seems possible … legendary child actress Shirley Temple Black has died at the age of 85.  The child star known for her curly hair and dimples died of natural causes Monday night at her Woodside, California home surrounded by her family and caregivers. Shirley Temple Black lifted America’s spirits as a bright-eyed, dimpled child movie star during the Great Depression and later became a U.S. diplomat.

The bright-eyed, adorable little actress was a No. 1 box-office draw in the 1930s, helping to boost America’s spirits after the Great Depression and saving the Fox studio from bankruptcy.

Shirley Temple, the enchanting singing and dancing child star with the glowing corkscrew curls who saved a Hollywood studio and helped yank America from the throes of the Great Depression, died Monday night. She was 85.

CNN: Shirley Temple Black, the former child star who later became a U.S. ambassador, has died at 85, her publicist says.

Temple began acting at age 3 and starred in four massive box-office draws before she turned 10, commanding a then-unheard of $50,000 per movie.

Her first film of notice appeared in 1932, when she played the part of the Baby Burlesks in a series of short films called “War Babies.”

For about 18 years, she sang, tap danced and acted her way into the hearts of millions.

She retired from filmmaking at 22, after marrying Charles Black and changing her last name to Temple Black.

But she did not fade from the public eye. Far from it.

She embarked on a new career as a foreign diplomat: She served in the U.S. delegation to the United Nations from 1969 to 1974, was U.S. ambassador to Ghana from 1974 to 1976, and U.S. ambassador to Czechoslovakia from 1989 to 1992.

Shirley Temple – On The Good Ship Lollipop

FOX News: Former Hollywood child star Shirley Temple dies at 85.

Temple became a nationwide sensation. Mothers dressed their little girls like her, and a line of dolls was launched that are now highly sought-after collectables. Her immense popularity prompted President Franklin D. Roosevelt to say that “as long as our country has Shirley Temple, we will be all right.”

“When the spirit of the people is lower than at any other time during this Depression, it is a splendid thing that for just 15 cents, an American can go to a movie and look at the smiling face of a baby and forget his troubles,” Roosevelt said.

She followed up in the next few years with a string of hit films, most with sentimental themes and musical subplots. She often played an orphan, as in “Curly Top,” where she introduced the hit “Animal Crackers in My Soup,” and “Stowaway,” in which she was befriended by Robert Young, later of “Father Knows Best” fame.

She teamed with the great black dancer Bill “Bojangles” Robinson in two 1935 films with Civil War themes, “The Little Colonel” and “The Littlest Rebel.” Their tap dance up the steps in “The Little Colonel” (at a time when interracial teamings were unheard-of in Hollywood) became a landmark in the history of film dance.

Wiki: Political ambitions -

Following her venture into television, Temple became active in the Republican Party in California. In 1967, she ran unsuccessfully in a special election in California’s 11th congressional district to fill the seat left vacant by the death of eight-term Republican J. Arthur Younger from leukemia.[93][94] She ran as a conservative and lost to law school professor Pete McCloskey, a liberal Republican who was a staunch opponent of the Vietnam War.[95]

She was appointed Representative to the 24th United Nations General Assembly by President Richard M. Nixon (September – December 1969),[96][97] and was appointed United States Ambassador to Ghana (December 6, 1974 – July 13, 1976) by President Gerald R. Ford.[98] She was appointed first female Chief of Protocol of the United States (July 1, 1976 – January 21, 1977), and was in charge of arrangements for President Jimmy Carter’s inauguration and inaugural ball.[98][99] She served as the United States Ambassador to Czechoslovakia (August 23, 1989 – July 12, 1992), having been appointed by President George H. W. Bush.[33]

Dylan Farrow Discusses Sex Abuse Allegations Against Woody Allen In Open Letter In New York Times

Dylan Farrow, the adopted daughter of Woody Allen, pens an open letter in the New York Times that should, if they have not already done so, make all question why they have a favorite Woody Allen movie. She detailed the alleged sexual abuse she endured at the hands of Woody Allen. Farrow said she was spurred to comment after Woody Allen was recently honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Golden Globes. An award that when you look back on the fact that Allen was never charged with any sexual abuse crimes even thought prosecutors back in the 90′s said there was probably cause to do so makes you just question what the Golden Globes were thinking. As Dylan Farrow concluded, “Imagine a world that celebrates her tormenter. Are you imagining that? Now, what’s your favorite Woody Allen movie?

Woody_Allen train

What’s your favorite Woody Allen movie? Before you answer, you should know: when I was seven years old, Woody Allen took me by the hand and led me into a dim, closet-like attic on the second floor of our house. He told me to lay on my stomach and play with my brother’s electric train set. Then he sexually assaulted me. He talked to me while he did it, whispering that I was a good girl, that this was our secret, promising that we’d go to Paris and I’d be a star in his movies. I remember staring at that toy train, focusing on it as it traveled in its circle around the attic. To this day, I find it difficult to look at toy trains.

On a personal note in an open response to Dylan Farrow, I was once a Woody Allen fan and did once consider ‘Manhattan,’  ‘A Midsummer Night’s Sex Comedy’ and ‘Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * But Were Afraid to Ask’ my favorite movies. However, that was then and this is now. Since the sexual abuse allegations in the early 90′s I have pretty much put Woody Allen in the “ick” category and with the likes of those like O.J. Simpson, where we know they are guilty, even though it was never proved. Recently, we can add the lies of Casey Anthony to that same list. Dylan, just know that it is not a world that celebrates Woody Allen, it is a deranged, without class, morals or character few that do. However, we are glad that you survived the abuse.

One does have to ask why do celebs who behave badly get rewarded? Yes, Woody Allen is a living testament to the way our society fails the survivors of sexual assault and abuse. Allen was honored at the Golden Globes last month with the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award.Maybe he should have been honored with the Roman Polanski award instead.

Today, I consider myself lucky. I am happily married. I have the support of my amazing brothers and sisters. I have a mother who found within herself a well of fortitude that saved us from the chaos a predator brought into our home.

But others are still scared, vulnerable, and struggling for the courage to tell the truth. The message that Hollywood sends matters for them.

What if it had been your child, Cate Blanchett? Louis CK? Alec Baldwin? What if it had been you, Emma Stone? Or you, Scarlett Johansson? You knew me when I was a little girl, Diane Keaton. Have you forgotten me?

Woody Allen is a living testament to the way our society fails the survivors of sexual assault and abuse.

So imagine your seven-year-old daughter being led into an attic by Woody Allen. Imagine she spends a lifetime stricken with nausea at the mention of his name. Imagine a world that celebrates her tormenter.

Are you imagining that? Now, what’s your favorite Woody Allen movie?
