Surprise … Des Moines Register Endorses Mitt Romney

Bad news for Barack Obama in Iowa and fantastic new for Mitt Romney … Des Moines Register endorses ROMNEY!!!

The Des Moines Register has changed their 2008 endorsement of Barack Obama to a 2012 endorsement of Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney. For the first time in 40 years the Des Moines Register is backing a Republican over a Democrat. The Register cited the number one issue of the economy as their reason for the endorsement.

American voters are deeply divided about this race. The Register’s editorial board, as it should, had a vigorous debate over this endorsement. Our discussion repeatedly circled back to the nation’s single most important challenge: pulling the economy out of the doldrums, getting more Americans back in the workforce in meaningful jobs with promising futures, and getting the federal government on a track to balance the budget in a bipartisan manner that the country demands.

What did they think of Obama in the end, it’s the economy stupid. This should provide great insight to voters as to just how bad Obama has gummed up the economic job recovery. For the first time in 40 years the paper endorses a Republic over a Democrat for President. That should speal volumes to Iowans. The paper stated that they thought Obama’s efforts to fix the economy have fallen short and there was nothing to believe that the same would not continue to be the case if given another four years.

“The president’s best efforts to resuscitate the stumbling economy have fallen short. Nothing indicates it would change with a second term in the White House.”

Maybe the Des Moines Register’s final decision to not endorse Barack Obama came from Obama’s comment to them in what was supposed to originally be an off the record interview, that Obama had no regrets on prioritizing Obamacare over jobs in his first two years.

The president was also asked about his decision to spend his substantial political capital, and exploit his large Congressional majorities, to aggressively push his partisan health care law, rather than in pursuit of other economic priorities.  Obama’s answer?  “Absolutely” no regrets:

QUESTION: “Some say you had a super majority in your first two years and had this incredible opportunity, but because of what you were talking about, as you were running, you had to go to get Obamacare done. Do you have any regrets taking on some of the economic issues, some of the issues that we’re talking about for your second term, that when you had the chance, so to speak, during your first — do you have any regrets that you didn’t do that at that time?”

OBAMA: “Absolutely not, Laura.”

Will this endorsement shake up the presidential race in Iowa? RCP has the average of polling at +2.3% Obama; however, that is with a rather suspect +8 Obama NBC/WSJ/Marist poll. Rasmussen has it an even tie.

UPDATE I: As reported at NewsBusters, the libs are in disbelief and trying to trivialize the endorsement as a joke. Actually Libs, the only joke has been that who has been in the White House the past 4 years. Even more sadly, the sick joke has been one perpetrated on America, and its citizens are not laughing.

Thank You Obamanomics … VP Biden Campaigning in Oshkosh, WI a Day after Oshkosh Corp. Announced 450 Layoffs

AWKWARD!!!

The following story is a perfect example of why Barack Obama/Joe Biden do not need a second term. Thanks to Obamanomics and a failed job recovery, another company announces layoffs. I wonder how these 450 people would answer the question, are you better off today than you were four years ago?

Opps, talk about bad timing and why Obama/Biden are not running ob their record of failed job recover. One day before VP Biden campaigns in Oshkosh, WI … Oshkosh Corp, one of the largest area employers announced 450 layoffs as a result of expected cuts to the Department of Defense. There is nothing like going into a state to ask for four more years and praise the efforts of Obama after one of the states largest employers announces layoffs … DOH!

Vice President Joe Biden is campaigning in Oshkosh on Friday, a day after one of the largest area employers announced 450 layoffs — the result of expected cuts to the Department of Defense.

Oshkosh Corp. will layoff 450 manufacturing workers in January, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Thursday, saying the Pentagon is expected to purchase few of the company’s military vehicles. The military cut its requested budget for ground vehicles by 32 percent in the 2013 fiscal year.

Could this be the reason why Obama barely leads in Wisconsin after winning the state in 2008 by 13%.

Hey Wisconsin, I bet this gets you jazzed to go out and vote for Barack Obama, doesn’t it!

Liberal Newspapers Abandoning Obama … Orlando Sentinel Endorses Mitt Romney … Add The Tennessean as Well

WOW, Hell Just Froze Over … Liberal Newspaper have buyer’s remorse. The Orlando Sentinel and Tennessean endorse Mitt Romney …

What a difference four years makes. How bad is it for President Barack Obama … liberal newspaper, The Orlando Sentinel endorses GOP Presidential challenger Mitt Romney In an amazing reversal of fortune, the the Orlando Sentinel kicks Barack Obama to the curb and endorses Romney and laid out their rational for their decision. Their main point and the main issue for millions of Americans, the economy. Barack Obama has failed America as unemployment remains high, millions of Americans are unemployed or under-employed, as economic growth is “anemic” and the federal debt is through the roof over $16 trillion.

But the core of Romney’s campaign platform, his five-point plan, at least shows he understands that reviving the economy and repairing the government’s balance sheet are imperative — now, not four years in the future.

Romney has a strong record of leadership to run on. He built a successful business. He rescued the 2002 Winter Olympics from scandal and mismanagement. As governor of Massachusetts, he worked with a Democrat-dominated legislature to close a $3billion budget deficit without borrowing or raising taxes, and pass the health plan that became a national model.

This is Romney’s time to lead, again. If he doesn’t produce results — even with a hostile Senate — we’ll be ready in 2016 to get behind someone else who will.

But wait, Team Reelect Obama thought that was bad … Hell just froze over, The Tennessean also just endorsed Romney. Granted, the state of Tennessee is dark red and not in play for the 2012 Presidential election; however, the Tennessean is as liberal a rag as their is in the US.  It is the newspaper that gave Al Gore his start in journalism. Nuff said. This is a newspaper that has endorsed every Presidential Democrat candidate, not this time. Who knew, pigs can fly.

The Tennessean decision to endorse Romney also pointed to Obama’s failures with the economy and Obama’s failures. He promised America “Hope & Change” and as the Tennessean, maybe only such change can come from Mitt Romney.

Should President Obama, as some suggested, have devoted his early political capital to jobs and debt reduction and pursuing Wall Street criminals, instead of health reform? Time will tell. But it’s clear whatever shaky bridges were burned in the push for health reform only emboldened Republicans to oppose his subsequent economic proposals. That has rendered much of his presidency ineffective.

Barack Obama was elected in 2008 with a call for hope and change. Perhaps the change he spoke of could only come with the help of Mitt Romney.

OUCH! Can you say the rats are abandoning the sinking S.S. Obama? Even liberal print media is starting to understand that Obama is not the answer, even if they believe in his ideology. Just how bad and an epic failure must Barack Obama be to lose the endorsements of some of the most uber-lib print media in the United States? But don’t worry Barack, you got the Honey Boo Boo endorsement.

Another Obama Failed Green Energy Company: A123 Systems Defaults on Loan and May Seen Bankruptcy

Another One bites the dust …

Add A123 Systems to Barack Obama’s list of failed green energy companies. A123  received a $249.1 million federal grant in 2009 to build a U.S. factory. I then needed a financial lifeline after struggling with costs from a recall of batteries supplied to Fisker Automotive. Now the company is in debt default. Now according to A123, “The company may not have sufficient cash to fund operations and may need to seek the protections provided under the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.”

VIDEO Hat Tip: The Gateway Pundit

A123 Systems Inc. (AONE), the maker of lithium-ion batteries for electric cars, said it may run out of cash to fund operations and may need to seek bankruptcy protection.

A123 expects to be in default under material debt agreements today, the Waltham, Massachusetts-based company said yesterday in a regulatory filing. A123 didn’t expect to be on time with an interest payment due yesterday on $143.8 million of notes expiring in 2016, or to make a payment due yesterday on $2.76 million in outstanding 6 percent notes, according to the filing.

UPDATE I: From Weasel Zippers … President Barack Obama praised the company as a success in 2010. Barack Obama certainly knows how to “not” pick them. Just yet another Obama “green” failure at the expense of the US tax payer.

Former Independent Presidential Candidate H. Ross Perot Endorses Mitt Romney … “the nation can’t afford four more years of President Obama”

Former Independent Presidential candidate of the Reform Party, H. Ross Perot has thrown his support behind and has endorses Mitt Romney for president. Perot stated in his support for Romney, the United States is on an unsustainable path and “the nation cannot afford four more years of  of President Obama.” This is an interesting endorsement. Probably the most prominent “Independent” ever to run for President. In 1992 Presidential election Perot received nearly 19% of the vote.  Could this endorsement swing the needle for Independents?

Decrying a “stagnant” economy, Perot writes:

“Economic growth is insufficient to create enough jobs for a country whose population is growing. The result is unemployment stuck over 8 percent for every single month of Barack Obama’s presidency.

We have 23 million Americans who are looking for work and either can’t find a full-time job, can’t find a job at all, or who have given up looking. That is wrong. It’s not the way America ought to be.

At the same time, and not unrelated, is the extraordinary explosion of federal deficits and federal debt. In the last four years during Obama’s presidency, he’s added around $5 trillion to our national debt, more than any previous president.

This was accomplished by successive federal budgets that each ran deficits exceeding $1 trillion a year. It is this massive deficit spending that threatens to undermine our future standard of living. To pay for our government’s massive debts, Washington’s profligacy, our children and grandchildren will be paying interest and principal on the nation’s debt for untold years into the future. That is wrong. It’s not the way America ought to be.”

From The Weekly Standard comes an email sent by Perot to the Romney campaign:

“Our country faces a serious choice,” Perot says in a statement emailed out by the Romney campaign. “The fact of the matter is that the United States is on unsustainable course. At stake is nothing less than our position in the world, our standard of living at home, and our constitutional freedoms. That is why I am endorsing Mitt Romney in his quest for the presidency.
