Barack Obama Flubs the Spelling of “Rspect”, Oops “Respect” While Praising Aretha Franklin, the Queen of Soul … Obama Got Swag, Really?

Teleprompter reading mishap alert … Anurag Kashyap has nothing to fear from President Barack Obama.

Hmm, the president who does not know how many states there are in the United States, also appears to have no clue how to spell the word respect. Barack Obama misspelled the word “respect” while giving praise to Aretha Franklin at a tribute to the Queen of Soul. Obama managed to spell it “R-S-P-E-C-T.” Are you kidding me, Really? This brought to us by the most intelligent, smartest president ever with an IQ off the chart, or so they say.  Who find else finds it telling that Obama can’t spell the word respect?

Mr. Obama paid tribute to Franklin for turning her signature song “Respect” into “a rallying cry for African-Americans, women and then everyone who felt marginalized.”

The pumped-up audience gave a hearty laugh but was more than willing to forgive the president for spelling it “R-S-P-E-C-T.”

In addressing the crowd, Mr. Obama said, “When Aretha first told us what R-S-P-E-C-T meant to her…”

The media and late night comedy shows HERE and HERE crucified John Travolta for botching the name of Idina Menzel at the Oscars, but where are they with Obama’s screw up? Oh that dreaded “E”. But of course there is no media bias.  Just ask former VP Dan Quayle how the media dealt with him with his extra added “E”.

No wonder he has never released his college transcripts.

UPDATE I: Imagine that Maureen Dowd and I actually agree on something … “IF you can’t spell it, you can’t get it.”

I had asked above, “Who find else finds it telling that Obama can’t spell the word respect?” It would appear one person who did was of all people was the NY Times Maureen Dowd. Barack Obama most certainly does have a “Swag” and “respect” problem. However, Patti LaBelle seems to think BO’s got Swag. YIKES, let’s hope that Patti does not mean the urban dictionary version. I thing she meant “SWAGG”. In any event, it would seem that Obama does not know how to spell respect, and LaBelle does not know what the definition of Swagg is.

President Obama pulled a Quayle Thursday night at a White House performance by the women of soul and muffed the title of Aretha Franklin’s anthem. “R-S-P-E-C-T,” he said, looking a bit confused and eliciting laughter.

When Patti LaBelle took the stage, she told Obama, “Baby, you’ve got swag.”

Swag and respect are exactly what the president needs. He’s got a swag gap with Russia. His administration, after belatedly figuring out what was going on in Ukraine, is improvising as the uber-swaggering Vladimir Putin once more rolls in with tanks anywhere he likes.

Bill Clinton Back in His Element at Charity Gala … Poses for Picture with Two Hookers, Ava Adora and Barbie Girl, From the Famed Nevada Bunny Ranch Brothel

Hillary Clinton must be so proud of what she hopes is her future “First Man” … Tabloids and Late Night Comedy Shows are begging, even praying that Hillary wins in 2016 for the endless Bubba material!

You just can’t make this stuff up. Former President Bill Clinton is back in the tabloids after TMZ gets a hold of a picture of the former prez and two women at a gala charity event for Unite4Humanity. Seems innocent enough, right? Well, not when Slick Willie is involved. It turns out that the two women were prostitutes at the famed Nevada Bunny Ranch brothel, Ava Adora and Barbie Girl.  I guess it all depends on how you define selfie.

I did not take a picture with those two women, Ava Adora and Barbie Girl, I never told anyone to take a picture, not a single time

Slick Willie probably had no clue … but the women Bill posed with at an L.A. charity event Thursday night are two star hookers at the famed Nevada Bunny Ranch brothel.

The brunette goes by Ava Adora and the blonde goes by Barbie Girl. According to her bio on the BR website, the blonde is very flexible and specializes in de-virginizing. The brunette “knows how to please a variety of both men and women.”

We have no idea how they got in to the star-studded Unite4Humanity charity gala — which honored Clinton along with several other philanthropic celebs like Robert De Niro and Martin Scorsese — but we can take a wild guess why they showed.

Hillary Clinton was asked for her opinion of Bill’s latest pic, at least it wasn’t with porn stars this time.

Harold Ramis, Actor, Writer & Director Best-known for ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Stripes’ and ‘Caddyshack’ is Dead at Age 69 … Rest in Peace

It is truly a sad day, one of my favorite actors, writers and directors of all times has passed away … Dr. Egon Spengler, Moe Green,  Russell Ziskey … Rest in Peace.

Harold Ramis passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 surrounded by family in his North Shore Chicago home at 12:53 AM. Ramis, best known for his acting, writing and directing roles in such comedy classics as ‘Ghost Busters’, ‘Stripes’, and ‘Caddyshack’, died from complications from autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a rare disease that involves swelling of the blood vessels. Tragically, he was only 69. Long before Ramis became a household name in the movie ‘Stripes’ and ‘Ghostbusters’, Harold Ramis was fantastic on SCTV. I think I just dated myself. For those who think SNL was funny and cutting edge, SCTV had it beat by a mile. Not familiar with SCTV, it is the show that launched the comedic genius and careers of John Candy, Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Rick Moranis, Joe Flaherty, Dave Thomas and of course, the late Harold Ramis.

I can honestly say, the world will be a little less funny without him … Harold Ramis, Rest in Peace.

Ramis’ serious health struggles began in May 2010 with an infection that led to complications related to the autoimmune disease, his wife said. Ramis had to relearn to walk but suffered a relapse of the vasculitis in late 2011, said Laurel Ward, vice president of development at Ramis’ Ocean Pictures production company.

Harold Ramis not only may be the most successful comedy writer-director that Chicago has produced, but some wouldn’t even confine that statement to Chicago.

“Harold was clearly the most successful comedy writer-director of all time,” said Tim Kazurinsky, who followed Ramis at Second City and later became his friend. “The number of films that he has made that were successful, that were blockbusters, nobody comes close. Even in light in of that, he was more successful as a human being.”

Ramis’ career was still thriving in 1996, with “Groundhog Day” acquiring almost instant classic status upon its 1993 release and 1984′s “Ghostbusters” ranking among the highest-grossing comedies of all time, when he decided to move his family back to the Chicago area, where he grew up and had launched his career.

CNN:

Ramis died Monday morning in his Chicago-area home, the agency said.

For more than 40 years, Ramis was a leading figure in comedy. A veteran of the Second City troupe in his hometown of Chicago, he was a writer for “SCTV” and wrote or co-wrote the scripts for “National Lampoon’s Animal House” (1978), “Caddyshack” (1980), “Stripes” (1981), “Ghostbusters” (1984), “Groundhog Day” (1993) and “Analyze This” (1999).

The films often featured members of his generation of comedy talents — veterans of the National Lampoon’s recordings, “Saturday Night Live” and “Second City TV” — most notably Ramis’ old comedy colleague and fellow Chicagoan Bill Murray.

“Harold Ramis and I together did ‘The National Lampoon Show’ off-Broadway, ‘Meatballs,’ ‘Stripes,’ ‘Caddyshack,’ ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Groundhog Day.’ He earned his keep on this planet,” said Murray in a statement. “God bless him.”

Harold Ramis’ acting, writing and directing credits.

Harold Ramis was a man before his time as he proclaimed in the 1984 movie classic, Ghostbusters … “Print is Dead”.

On a personal note, what makes some one like Harold Ramis so brilliant a writer, director and actor is his works are timeless. There are no more movies that are quoted by people in everyday life than Animal House, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Stripes, Groundhog Day and Back to School and “that’s the fact Jack”.

Tell ‘em about the Twinkie

Dr. Egon Spengler: Well, let’s say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning’s sample, it would be a Twinkie… thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds.

Maria von Trapp, the Last of the Famous Singing Siblings Made Famous in ‘The Sound of Music,’ Dies at Age 99

How very, very sad … The end of a singing family era … Maria von Trapp dies at the age of 99.

Maria von Trapp dies at her home in Vermont of natural causes at the age of 99. She was the last surviving member of the seven original Trapp Family Singers made famous in the 1965 movie, “The Sound of Music.” Maria von Trapp was the third child and second-oldest daughter of Austrian Naval Capt. Georg von Trapp and his first wife, Agathe Whitehead von Trapp.  Maria von Trapp was portrayed as Louisa in the film and musical. Maria was a missionary in New Guinea for 30 years. Maria Franziska von Trapp died on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in Stowe, VT.

Georg von Trapp, born in 1880, became a national hero as a captain in the Austrian navy during World War I. He commanded submarines with valor and received the title of “Ritter” (the equivalent of the British baronet or “Sir,” but commonly translated as “Baron”) as a reward for his heroic accomplishments. Georg married Agathe Whitehead, the granddaughter of Robert Whitehead, the inventor of the torpedo, in 1912. They had seven children together: Rupert, 1911–1992 (Friedrich);  Agathe, 1913–2010 (Liesl); Maria, 1914–2014 (Louisa) ; Werner, 1915–2007 (Kurt) ; Hedwig, 1917–1972 (Brigitta); Johanna, 1919–1994 (Marta); and Martina, 1921–1952 (Gretl).

Half-brother Johannes von Trapp said in a statement.

“Maria had a wonderful life and we will miss her. The memories of her will live on.”

Born in 1914 in Zell Am See in the Austria Alps, Maria Franziska was the third of seven children of the aristocratic Georg von Trapp and his first wife, Agathe Whitehead, who died in 1922.

As a child, Maria Franziska had scarlet fever, the same disease that killed her mother.

Maria Franziska von Trapp served as a lay missionary in Papua New Guinea, according to the Trapp Family Lodge website, before returning to Vermont to live. She is represented by Louisa, played by Heather Menzies-Urich, in the 1965 movie.

At the age of 97, she wrote fondly of her childhood memories and cleared up one myth from the movie. Capt. von Trapp did have a special whistle to call each of his children – but they didn’t see it as a strict measure for keeping discipline.

CNN:

Maria von Trapp, the last of the singing children immortalized in the movie musical “The Sound of Music,” died at her Vermont home of natural causes, her half-brother told CNN on Saturday.

The native of Austria was 99 and lived in Stowe. She died Tuesday.

Maria von Trapp was the third-oldest child of Agathe Whitehead and Capt. Georg von Trapp. The couple had seven children: Rupert, Agathe, Maria, Werner, Hedwig, Johanna and Martina.

Georg von Trapp’s second wife, Maria Kutschera von Trapp, wrote a book titled “The Story of the Trapp Family Singers,” which sparked two German-made movies and “The Sound of Music.”

So Long, Farewell …

On a personal note, if you ever make it to Stowe, Vermont, I strongly recommend that you visit the Trapp Family Lodge.
