And They (DEMS & MSM) Said It Couldn’t Be Done

When it comes to Iraq, the ever pessimistic Democratic Party and their wanton need and desire for President Bush to fail has become a staple of the Party. They have been so wrong, so often that is has become often its difficult to keep count. No wonder no one trusts them on foreign policy. What was it that the Democrats said would never happen in Iraq?

1. Democrats said early into the war that the US military was bogged down and it would be a qaugmire.

Reality: March 19, 2003 – U.S.-led forces launch strikes on Iraq at approximately 0230 GMT.
April 4, 2003 – Coalition troops take over Baghdad’s Saddam International Airport and rename it Baghdad International Airport
April 9, 2003 – Baghdad falls to U.S. troops, but sporadic fighting continues throughout the city.

2. Democrats said that the Iraqi people would not embrace Democracy and that civil war would ensue.

Reality: Iraqis turned out in great numbers Sunday to vote in the country’s first free election in 50 years.

3. Democrats complain that delays in the appointment of Iraqi officials are a problem.

Reality: Wednesday April 6, 2004 – historic step Wednesday, electing Kurdish leader Jalal Talabani as the nation’s president

Iraq’s new president, Kurdish leader Jalal Talabani, took the oath of office.

Jaafari Named Iraqi Prime Minister

The new government’s main task will be to draft a permanent constitution and lay the groundwork for elections in December

Is there anything else they would like to get wrong? We haven’t even gone in to the positive offshoots of Democracy in Iraq like the Middle East’s reaction to Syria in Lebanon and the military pullout and also the limited elections to take place in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Is it an wonder why we do not trust the Democratic Party’s vision on foreign policy? If Kerry had been elected President or George W. Bush had at all listened to MSM opinion or the Democratic in Congress, none of these remarkable and historic events would be taking place. None. That is what true leadership is made of. Tough decisions that one one stand by even in tough times. The rewards to such actions are infinite.

Now This Is a Game – Aaarg, Ay-hoy-ye-maties

Our friend at the 1754 Blog has successfully put an end to productivity for the day, Arrg.

If we had only been able to attach a cannon to the front of my kayak, maybe I would have had a chance.

Go here and have everyone in your office baton down the hatches.

Stories Below the Radar

Thanks to Rusty at My Pet Jawa, here’s a couple stories that I have not seen anywhere:

Another Terri Schiavo? (Get ready for the damn to break.)
Sheriff gets tasered on live TV. (Not quite as good as the Police officer displaying gun safety, but will do.)
Bill Clinton for SC? (I shudder to even think)
Tiny little spy planes. (These are just too cool, who thought my childhood Cox airplane would be used for high tech surveillance?)

More From Those Free Speech, Tolerant LEFTIES; Hypocrisy in Action

It seems like this is becoming a weekly if not twice a week occurrence these days. Liberal tolerance is at an all time high low. This time it happened to David Horowitz, president of the Center for the Study of Popular Culture. While giving a lecture at Butler University he too was hit by a pie. David Horowitz addressed the issue of recent attacks, instead of graciously brushing it off and ignoring the problem like Bill Krystol, Pat Buchanan and Ann Coulter. All of whom have had attacks upon them recently. David Horowitz said,

“There’s a wave of violence on college campuses, committed by what I’d call fascists opposing conservatives,” Horowitz said. “It’s one step from that to injury.”

Kudos to you David. This issue must be addressed. This is a very key point that I have raised just recently. Something needs to be done and these security issues need to be addressed before some left wing nut gets carried away, escalates the violence and actually causes physical injury to someone.

Please explain to me how a guest speaker comes to a college campus and can not have their safety guaranteed? An individual gets a pie in to a lecture, how? I think it is safe to say that if one can get a pie in to such an event, some deranged moon-bat could probably get a lot worse in as well. Is there any check what so ever of anything that people come into these events? This is just a little bit of advice to College Presidents across the country, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? DO YOU THINK MAYBE THERE SHOULD BE!!! OR ARE YOU ACTUALLY WAITING FOR A WORSE INCIDENT TO OCCUR?

In a wait until something horrific happens environment, maybe you may want to quickly, routinely check people’s coats & backpacks before they enter the event? Nothing to severe or intrusive, but something? Or does the College or University want the law suit that is an escalation of violence away from occurring because they provided no security or safety to speakers they they have invited? Step up to the plate folks. It is obvious the Left can not stand free speech, the last college campuses can do is provide a safe environment.

It appears that OTB has the same thought as well.

The inability or unwillingness of university administrators to prevent these attacks is stunning. I support the right of Ward Churchill and his ilk to have a voice at college campuses. It’s equally important that controverialists of the Right have an opportunity to be heard as well.”

Well said.

Looks like My Pet Jawa’s what kind of pie? Let’s hope it’s another case of humble pie with extra whip cream in 2006.

More Bad News From Hooverville

Looks like the worst growing economy is getting worse better. U.S. jobless claims fall to 334,000.

The Federal Reserve had been focused on the weak labor market for much of the past four years. But recent comments from Fed officials indicate that they are satisfied with the improvements in job growth and are now focused primarily on inflationary signals.

The full report from the Department of Labor can be found here.

Also reported by AP:

The big decrease of 19,000 was the first decline after two consecutive weekly increases and it was the largest drop since a decrease of 27,000 the week of Feb. 5.

But not to go without casting a negative conclusion to good economic news, AP also saw fit to rain on positive news by concluding with the following:

The below-par jobs gain was blamed in part on rising energy costs that made businesses more cautious about hiring new workers.

However, analysts still remain confident that the economy will grow at a sufficiently robust pace this year to create more than 2 million jobs. In 2004, the economy created 2.17 million new jobs, a significant improvement after two years of job losses and only a small jobs gain in 2003.

I just never remember them stating such things when similar numbers existed in the past administration. Hmmm.
