Cash For Clunkers … Stimulating the American Economy or Foreign One’s? 54% of Americans Against It
“Cash for Clunkers” … whose economy are we stimulating?
A funny thing happened on the way to stimulating US Automakers thru the “Cash for Clunkers” program, it didn’t. The American tax payer subsidies cash for clunkers program has generated 47% of vehicle sales for Detroit’s automakers, GM, Chrysler and Ford. Simple math tells us that 53% of the $1 billion program went to foreign autos. So in other words, US auto companies are taking in less than half of the dollars allocated to a plan that was supposed to stimulate them?
Domestics claimed a decent share of the new vehicle sales generated by the program as well. The Detroit News notes, “Detroit’s automakers accounted for 47 percent of the first 80,000 ‘Cash for Clunkers’ sales, the Obama administration said today
54% of Americans are against any further funding for the “cash for clunkers” program. Can someone explain why Americans are buying other American’s cars for them? What’s next, cash for RV’s? Turn in your old Winnebago and get a new and improved RV.
Six of the top 10 vehicles purchased in the “Cash for Clunkers” program were foreign made cars and four of the top six were as well. This begs the question, do American tax payers really want another $2 billion going into a plan to supposedly stimulate the American economy when

And what are the Top Ten Cash for Clunkers Trade-Ins? Interestingly enough, these autos will be scrapped immediately and crushed, never to be a part of the secondary car market. What about the folks who can’t afford a new vehicle? Are they supposed to get into a debt they cannot afford and be car poor? Then not be able to pay their monthly note of their car and have it repossessed? Hmm … sounds like the mortgage problem doesn’t it?

As far as I can tell, this program has nothing to do with fuel efficiency, the environment, etc.
The main requirement for this program is that you have a clear title to the vehicle you are trading in, that is, no lien.
Clearly, this program is designed to entice those Americans who have chosen to live with their payment-free, older car, to go into debt.
Because many Americans are attempting to become debt-free, the program is designed to get the people back into debt, where they belong.
It’s always about money and control.
Don’t fall for it, it makes no sense.
Where does the government get the authority to take money from me in taxes and give it to other people who buy cars? Just let me keep more of my own money and I’ll help stimulate the economy! Any time the government oversteps it’s Constitutional bounds bad things happen. What will this Cash for Clunkers program do to the used car market? All these used cars that are being turned in will not be available for used car dealers to sell on their lots. If you planed on buying an inexpensive, used Explorer, you might be out of luck because they are all getting crushed right now.
The list is wrong it was supposed to read: Ford Exploder
Thanks Barry !!! There is a new word out:
Obamanos From the Hispanic Sheep hearders it means “get the flock out”
It’s changed today..
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Sales under the U.S. government’s “cash for clunkers” auto incentive topped 180,000 with Toyota Motor Corp overtaking Ford Motor Co with the top-selling vehicle, officials said Wednesday.
In a move to support the Auto Unions, Obowma
grabs huge Taxes from the Bottomless Pit of
All Taxpayers. He returns some of those funds
to Obedient Auto Buyers. Others simply get
the driveSHAFT.
It’s really good to be the King!
This is another “redistribution of wealth”…why not just give each tax payer a big check and let us get what each individually needs, sounds better to me.
@1, slightly paranoia?
#7 YOU are the one looking over your shoulder and into everyone’s business. I bet you have a nose as long as Pinochio!!!Why not look in the mirror if you want to see a big problem.
Most of you are exactly right. The dolf guy is the idiot. It didn’t take long for him to be proven wrong.
