What a Surprise … Al Gore Wins Share 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for Global Warming Efforts … Ego or Mother Earth?

So now that Al “An Inconvenient Truth” Gore has won an Oscar at the Al_Gore_weathermanAcademy Awards and now the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, what’s next? Does this mean that the planet is saved? Is this really about ego or the planet?

Former Vice President Al Gore and the U.N.’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize Friday for their efforts to spread awareness of man-made climate change and lay the foundations for counteracting it.

“I am deeply honored to receive the Nobel Peace Prize,” Gore said. “We face a true planetary emergency. The climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity.”

The question on many Democrats minds is will the Nobel Peace Prize win mean Al Gore tshirtGore will run for president? The question that many should be asking is, WHY isn’t Al “its not easy being green” Gore not running for the presidency? One would truly think that if someone was so concerned with their cause and it meant the survival of all mankind that they would run for the office to be the leader of the free world and use that platform for good. So why isn’t Al running?

Would he rather just whine about the 2000 election for the rest of his life or make a difference? Is this really just about the celebrity and the fact that Al is finally getting some attention as opposed to losing to GWB is 2000? Gore will never be more popular and if he really wanted to affect change wouldn’t he want the power of the Presidency behind him?

An organization called draftgore.com is one of several trying to persuade Gore to run. The group ran a full-page ad in The New York Times on Wednesday described as “an open letter to Al Gore.”

“Many good and caring candidates are contending for the Democratic nomination,” the ad said. “But none of them has the combination of experience, vision, standing in the world, and political courage that you would bring to the job.”GoreGreen

Let’s hear and read what the blogosphere has to say about Al’s win:

  • The Gateway Pundit: Halleluiah! Gore Wins Nobel Peace Prize! Planet Is Saved!!

      Finally Al wins

This was for inventing the internet, right?

    2. nurturer on October 12th, 2007 1:06 pm

Why is it so cold today??

    3. Maggie on October 12th, 2007 4:21 pm

That’s what I was wondering, tell Al to send some
global warming my way today. Was in the 90s this
past Sunday and didn’t even break 55 today. ugh.

I love Al. Don’t rain on my parade, ok?

Interesting, especially in light of a recent judicial ruling that Gore’s global warming “documentary” is riddled with inaccuracies.

Here is the first sentence from the linked article:

“Al Gore’s award-winning climate change documentary was littered with nine inconvenient untruths, a judge ruled yesterday.”

Wow! The man wins the Nobel Peace Prize and you still can’t see past the fact that he isn’t a Republican. I suppose that pretty much sizes up the fact that this site is totally partisan…no fair and balanced reporting here.

Maybe he’s not running because he knows he can get a lot more accomplished doing things the way he is. Or, maybe he will run…wouldn’t it be nice to have a President who actually cares about what happens to us – and the air we breathe – for a change?
      ____________
SM: Jaime … get a clue.

The Presidency of the US is the greatest asset to ever affect change. Of cource the VP would be second and Gore did nothing with global warming when he had the chance.

Please stop making excuses for a guy who seems more interested in celebrity than change.

I challenge Little Al to run. Why do I call him little AL? Cause I have inlaws who knew Jr when he was a boy. Its time to step to the plate Al and put your money where your mouth is. RUN AL RUN …

^5 Jaime!! Who wrote that crap? The Republican posts on here are downright ugly. I came to this site more than two years ago to learn more about the disappearance of Natalee Holloway but I try to avoid reading the political garbage here. There is some good info here about missing persons but I have to say that it irritates the hell out of me sometimes when I see postings like this one. Why are you questioning why Al Gore isn’t running run for president? Would you vote for him if he did? With all the anti-democrat postings, I’ve seen here, I bet you’d eat his shorts before you voted for him. This article is childish to me. T?he Nobel Peace Prize for crying out loud. That’s one hell of an accomplishment and yet you have to act like a child by being so negative.

By the way, I met Beth Holloway tonight and got a book signed for myself and one for my daughter. She’s an amazing woman and thinks a lot of Red. He’s the one who isn’t here anymore, right?
      ___________________
SM: Nope, Red is still here..it’s Tom that is gone. I envy you for meeting Beth, she’s not scheduled to be in my area. To be honest, as a registered Democrat, I’d rather see Al Gore run and win the nomination rather than Hillary ;) (klaasend)
      ___________
SM: Yea with such past winners like Jimmy Carter and the terrorist Arrafat … that is one hell of an accomplishment.

Hey Democrats … stop being some narrow minded.

You think this post is ugly? Grow up … it is truthful. I would say the same thing about any Republican. It is utterly gutless to say that you are for a cause and say its the greatest moral crisis of our time and then not do you utmost to help that cause.

      Sorry if the truth hurts.

It does not matter whether I would vote for that person or not … people need to stabd up for their convictions or shut up.

To all Dems … why would Al Gore not run for President? That is a valid question. Would he rather claim to be the victim of the 2000 election or stand behind his claims of global warming.

If Al Gore cares about Earth in the balance, why does he not run> I would at least have an ounce of respect for him. By not running it actually brings many questions to his cause.

Come on now,Al Gores on son was in a hybrid when he was running drugs-now thats being green-right?

    10. Houston on October 13th, 2007 5:27 am

Didn’t Gore say he invented the Internet? Looks like he would have gotten something for that?

    11. Steve Holloway on October 13th, 2007 11:02 am

Gore is a nut…plain and simple. Hanging chads……recount…….even after the election lib newspapers did a recount and came up with GW still wining but this did not make major news. why? Dems wanted to cry about it in the next election and still lost. I don’t like everything GW does, put he was the better choice, but that’s not anything to brag about. Just remember that God holds us accountable to the way we vote. It’s not the pocketbook first and then morals, put MORALS first and the rest will take care of its self because the person with good morals…most of the time…will do the RIGHT thing.

    12. Auntiem on October 13th, 2007 12:34 pm

Gore is in good company, Yassar Arafat and who is that moron running the UN, he too won the Nobel Peace Prize….seems to have become the Nobel Booby Prize!!!!!

    13. Auntiem on October 13th, 2007 12:37 pm

I predict that next year’s winner will be Mahmoud Ahmidenidjad and Osama bin Laden!!!

But, alls fair, Al, ya did win!!!

    14. LilPuma on October 13th, 2007 1:29 pm

Al Gore. Global Warming. You can criticize and debate and throw barbs but one thing is absolutely true: WE ARE POLLUTING THE HELL OUT OF THIS PLANET. And we need to do something about it before planet Earth can no longer support human life. Or human life as we know it.

‘An Inconvenient Truth: A Tale of Two Houses’

House #1: A twenty-room mansion (not including eight bathrooms), all heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house, all heated by natural gas. In one month this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average monthly bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400. In natural gas alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a cold Northern or Midwestern “snow belt” area. It’s in the South.

House #2: Designed by an architecture professor at a leading accredited university. This house incorporates every “green” feature current home construction can offer. The house is 4,000 square feet (four bedrooms) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American Southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas, and it consumes one-quarter of the electricity required for a conventional HVAC system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to non-invasively blend into the surrounding landscape.

HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee. It is the abode of famed “environmentalist” and former Vice President, Al Gore.

HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas. It is the residence the of the of environmental movement’s chief villain, U.S. President George W. Bush.

We would all do well to judge people by their actions, not their words. Despite leftist media and Nobel committee hoopla, Gore is a blathering fool and a hypocrite.

    17. LilPuma on October 13th, 2007 8:02 pm

I don’t know if humans are causing global warming, but we are polluting the hell out of this planet.

    18. SteveDinMD on October 13th, 2007 8:03 pm

LilPuma: Your’re absoluetely correct. There’s a great deal of pollution in the world, and it threatens our long-term survival. In truth, though, real pollution is far more acute and localized than the “greenhouse gases” that get all the headlines. Consider this. The Kyoto Protocol will not prevent one ounce of heavy metals or other toxins from being dumped into the world’s waterways. Neither will any “carbon tax” prevent carcinogenic aerosols from finding their way into the lungs of children living nearby pesticide factories. The “global warming” hysteria only distracts us from the genuinely important work that needs to be done.

Gore and his fellow-travelers are, in fact, the pollutors’ best friends. By changing people’s focus from local, quantifiable, and CORRECTABLE problems in favor of a huge, indistinct, unmeasurable “problem” of dubious provenance, the “global warming” crowd is effectively ensuring that real environmental problems will go uncorrected. Those who spew poisons into the air and water are laughing all the way to the bank because the public is fixated exclusively on reducing emissions of carbon dioxide — a gas expelled by humans and all other mammals with each and every breath. What a joke! I’d laugh if it weren’t so tragic.

    19. LilPuma on October 14th, 2007 5:46 pm

I first want to apologize for my minor foray into spamming the board by repeating my post, or part of it. I thought my first one didn’t go through.

      18. SteveDinMD, thank you for articulating the problem here. My complaint is that while everyone is busy denying global warming or beating their chests claiming it’s mankind’s fault, too little is being done about the slow destruction of our environment.
