Olympic Spinal Tap Version – Smell the Glove: Team USA Olympic Mittens For You … Made in China …
Don’t look for the union label, Team USA Olympic mittens for the masses … MADE IN CHINA.
One of these days the manufacturers will get this right. After having been criticized two years ago for having U.S. Olympic team’s uniforms made in China, it appears they have not quite fixed the issue entirely. Don’t look now but we have an America with two sets of mittens. There are those made for the Olympic athletes and that you can buy for $98 a pair on the Ralph Lauren website or the knockoffs for $14 a pair at the USOC’s official online shop, made in China. Wouldn’t you just love to know what the labor and material costs are for the $98 mittens as opposed to the ones made in China?
Its kind of like the ‘This is Spinal Tap’ of Olympic Mittens … ‘Smell the Glove Mittens’
This is what you wanted … Ralph Lauren, made in USA
This is What You Got, Made in China
The outside of the mittens say “Go USA.” The insides say “Made in China.”
Less than two years after being criticized for having the U.S. Olympic team’s uniforms made in China, the U.S. Olympic Committee has another wardrobe malfunction on its hands.
The red-white-and-blue mittens it’s selling to raise funds for winter athletes were produced in China.
It says so right on the tag on the inside.
The USOC is charging $14 a pair for the blue hand-warmers that have the word “Go” embroidered in red on the left mitten and “USA” on the right. Also part of that left mitten is the tag, which says the gloves are “100% acrylic,” “One Size Fits Most” and “Made in China.”
USOC spokesman Patrick Sandusky said the “official” mittens being worn by the athletes at the opening ceremony are made in the USA. They’re also available to the public for $98 a pair on the Ralph Lauren website, which proudly proclaims its products are “Made in America” almost everywhere you look on the page for its official Team USA collection.
But the federation, which receives no government funding and is always trying to find new ways to raise money for its athletes, was going for a lower price point for its fundraiser. With the games more than a month away, it has raised $500,000 from the mitten sales.
“We wanted to create a fundraising opportunity where almost anyone could support Team USA,” Sandusky said.
The foreign-made mittens are available at the USOC’s official online shop of the U.S. Olympic Team.

WAPO-ABC News Poll: Barack Obama Job Approval Rating 55% Disapprove, 43% Approve … He’s Fallen & He Can’t Get Up!!!
2013 is not over yet and neither are President Barack Obama’s job approval numbers falling … He’s Fallen and he can’t Get Up!!!
The Emperor has no close, and no approval ratings either. The most recent WAPO-ABC News poll is out and it is not good news for Barack Obama or Democrats. Across the board on key issues that are important to Americans like the economy, handling the countries problems and trustworthiness, Obama has either lost significant ground or the lead all-together to the GOP. Obama’s polling numbers are in disarray because the American people, who once gave him the benefit of the doubt, now see that he cannot be trusted. Obama has wasted all this time and lied about Obamacare, rather than focusing on the economy and jobs as he had promised as well.
Check out the comparisons from just a year ago … Had America known now what they should have been made aware of in 2012, Barack Obama would have lost the 2012 presidential election in a landslide. Obama can thank his lucky stars that the US Constitution does not provide for recall elections for the president.
Pic- Washington Post, read full story HERE
President Obama is ending his fifth year in office matching the worst public approval ratings of his presidency, with record numbers of Americans saying they disapprove of his job performance and his once-hefty advantages over Republicans in Congress eroded in many areas, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.
His position is all the more striking when compared with his standing a year ago, as he was preparing for his second inauguration after a solid reelection victory. That high note proved fleeting as the president faced a series of setbacks, culminating in the botched rollout of his Affordable Care Act two months ago.
Obama’s standing is of particular concern to congressional Democrats as they look to next year’s midterm elections. Parties that control the White House suffer — sometimes significantly — in midterm campaigns when the president’s approval rating is below 50 percent.
On several key measures, Obama has lost significant ground to his Republican opponents in Congress. On the question of who is seen as better able to handle the country’s main problems, Obama and Republicans are tied at 41 percent. A year ago, the president’s advantage was 15 points and at this stage in 2010 it was still five points.
Obama also has lost the lead he enjoyed on who could better deal with the economy. Today Republicans are at 45 percent to Obama’s 41 percent.
Any lead that Barack Obama and Democrats had over the GOP have all but eroded in 2013.

5 Year Old Jeremiah Oliver Reported Missing 12/13/13 in Fitchburg, MA But Relatives Haven’t Seen Him Since September (Update: Mother Elsa Oliver and Boyfriend Alberto Sierra Arrested)
Sadly, this child abuse and missing persons case looks like it is going to get much worse. Child not seen since September, but not reported missing until this past Friday, December 13.
5 year old Jeremiah Oliver was reported missing on Friday, December 13, 2013, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. However, Jeremiah Oliver was not reported missing by his mother or her boyfriend, but instead by the boys 7 year old sister. The little girl told her teacher at school that her brother was missing. According to accounts, Jeremiah Oliver’s extended family has not seen the boy for 3 months, since September. Nothing good can come from a situation where a mother fails to report her child missing.
Five-year-old Jeremiah Oliver was reported missing on Friday, but relatives say they haven’t seen the child since September.
Investigators immediately searched the home on Kimball Street in Fitchburg and quickly arrested the boy’s mother and her boyfriend.
“I’ve been here for two months. And in the two months I’ve been here, I’ve never seen them,” Ada Santos, a neighbor, said.
District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said they learned of the Jeremiah Oliver’s disappearance after his 7-year-old sister told a teacher at school.
UPDATE I: The mother and boyfriend arrested and are in custody.
Their investigation led to charges against Elsa Oliver, 28 and Alberto Sierra, 22.
“That little girl showed a lot of courage doing what she did,” said Worcester County District Attorney Joe Early.
Oliver was arrested on two counts of reckless endangerment of a child and two counts of accessory after the fact. She will be arraigned Tuesday in Fitchburg District court. The Worcester District Attorney’s office said if Oliver doesn’t produce the child in court, she will be held in contempt of court.
Sierra was arraigned on two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife) in connection to an incident with Elsa Oliver. He also faced two counts of assault and battery on a child causing bodily injury related to an incident with Jeremiah and his 7-year-old sister. He was held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.
UPDATE II: Social worker, supervisor fired in case of missing Fitchburg, Mass. boy.
A state social worker and the worker’s supervisor have been fired as investigators try to determine what happened to a 5-year-old Fitchburg boy who hasn’t been seen since September.
Department of Children and Families Commissioner Olga Roche said Tuesday the two employees, whose names were not disclosed, “have been terminated.”
Anyone with information about the boy is asked to call the State Police Detectives (508-832-9124) or Fitchburg Police (978-345-9648).

FOX NEWS … And Still the Undisputed Ratings Champ of 2013 – More Viewers Than Combined Averages of CNN, MSNBC and HLN
From Variety, FOX News channel is far and away the #1 cable news network in 2013. Just how much have they distanced themselves from the competition? Fox News channeled had more views in prime-time than CNN, MSNBC and HLN combined.
Averaged viewers:
- Fox News Channel: 1.774 million
- MSNBC with 645,000
- CNN with 578,000
- HLN with 403,000
Fox News Channel maintained its grip on the cable-news network ratings prize in 2013, drawing more viewers than the combined averages of CNN, MSNBC and HLN.
It was a down year in terms of overall audience, as every newsie but HLN showed primetime declines from their Presidential Election-driven tallies of 2012.
According to Nielsen data through Dec. 8, Fox News Channel averaged 1.774 million viewers in primetime (down 13% from 2012) and 297,000 adults 25-54 (down 30%). It was followed by MSNBC with 645,000 viewers and 203,000 adults 25-54 (down 29% in both); CNN with 578,000 (down 15%) and 187,000 adults 25-54 (down 16%); and HLN with 403,000 total viewer (up 21%) and 142,000 in the demo (up 27%).
Among all basic cable networks in 2013, FNC ranked sixth in primetime while MSNBC was 29th and CNN was 31st. In total day, Fox ran fourth while CNN was 28th and MSNBC ran 30th; in 2012, CNN finished behind MSNBC. CNN and HLN showed some year-over-year gains on a total-day basis, while FNC and MSNBC were down.
HA, Weasel Zippers adds, Media Matters unavailable for comment. But the LEFTIES live an an alternate universe and believe that they can still keep their healthcare insurance if they like it or any other Kool-Aid that Obama pours.
