Pittsburgh Steelers Coach Mike Tomlin Prevents Ravens’s Jacoby Jones From a Kick-Return Touchdown by Stepping Onto Field … “The Tomlin Tackle”
If it is Thanksgiving Football, we are most certain to have a controversial play …
In 1993 there was the bone-head touching of the blocked field goal by Leon Lett in the Thanksgiving Day game between the Cowboys and Dolphins on the frozen, icy, snowy field in old Cowboy Stadium. 1n 1998 there was the botched referee coin flip in OT between the Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers that cost the Steelers the game. In 2012 there was the the Patriots-Jets finale game that on Thanksgiving Daynight gave us the infamous “butt fumble” by Mark Sanchez. Now we have the “Tomlin” tackle. As the Ravens’s Jacoby Jones gets the kick off and is about to bring it back for a TD, he had one man to beat. Who knew it would be Steelers’ head coach Mike Tomlin? What is even more unbelievable than Tomlin saying it was not intentional was the fact that the referee running down the sideline on the play and had to avoid Tomlin, never called any type of foul. HUH? In a day in which one sometimes think the NFL has turned into a “flag” football league where teams are no longer allowed to hit and play defense, how do the referee’s miss this call? The ref could have given Baltimore a touch down, he could have called an sportsman-like penalty for a player/coach being in a restricted area of the field. He did nothing.
Check the tape below. Tomlin can be seen standing in the stripe of white paint that nestles the field, facing away from Jones as he comes racing up the sideline during his 73-yard return.
The replay clearly shows Tomlin shifting his eyes from the video board to Jones, hopping out of the way just in time. No contact was made, but Tomlin’s proximity to the field of play appeared to be a factor in Jones deciding to cut back toward the middle of the field where he was tackled by Pittsburgh’s Cortez Allen.
Judge for yourselves.
Tomlin explained the play after the game: “I always watch the returns on the Jumbotron; it provides a better perspective for me. Obviously, I lost my placement as he broke free, and saw at the last second how close I was to the field of play.”
“It broke my stride a little bit,” Jones admitted, “(but) I still shouldn’t have got caught.”

Baltimore Raven’s QB Joe Flacco accused Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin of intentionally interfering (VIDEO) to stop Jacoby Jones from scoring on a kickoff return. Well yea, I have no pony in this race as I basically dislike both teams, and it was pretty obvious that it was intention. Especially, with the grins that Tomlin had on his face like a little boy who just got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
After the Steelers scored to close to 13-7 in the third quarter, Jones broke free down the sideline but slowed up with Tomlin on the white stripe near the field of play — with his foot on the field at one point as Jones neared his location. Tomlin, who had his back to the play, was not penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct but Flacco believes he should have been.
It was nine months ago at the Super Bowl that Flacco took flak for suggesting to teammates that they should run out on the field to tackle Ted Ginn Jr. on the final play.
“That’s exactly what he just did,” Flacco said. “He was looking at the big screen the whole entire time, he knew where he was, he knew where Jacoby was. He pulled my move.”
NFL Rulebook: rule 13 section 1 article 4.
RESTRICTED AREAS Article 4 All team personnel must observe the zone restrictions applicable to the bench area and the border rimming the playing field. The only persons permitted within the solid six-foot white border (1-1) while play is in progress on the field are game officials. For reasons involving the safety of participating players whose actions may carry them out of bounds, officials’ unobstructed coverage of the game, and spectators’ sightlines to the field, the border rules must be observed by all coaches and players in the bench area. Violators are subject to penalty by the officials.
The NFL can thank their lucky stars that Pittsburgh did not come back and win this game as the Raven’s only ended up getting a FG after this run back, rather than the 7 points they should have. The NFL is to review the play and I would expect that a harsh penalty is going to have to come down on this. You can’t allow this to happen again. Look for the referee to get smacked down too and down-graded.
Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin should have been penalized for stepping on the field last night and the play will be reviewed for discipline over the next week, an NFL official confirmed to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Why Wait For Black Friday to Start the Insanity, Mayhem and Bad Behavior When You Have Thanksgiving Day …Brawl Starts at Rialto, CA Walmart
The insanity does not even wait until “Black Friday” these days as some businesses have decided to open on Thanksgiving Day …
Police were called to the Walmart in Rialto, CA to break up a fight between two men that sent one police officer to the hospital. More than 3200 people lined up to wait for the 8 pm opening at the Walmart when the store made the decision to open the doors at 7 pm instead. And the chaos began. What could possibly go wrong with a massive crowd like this waiting to charge into a store? All of the people involved in the fights were taken into custody, but one of the men involved in the fight outside was arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
Police officers descended on Walmart in Rialto after a brawl between two men injured a police officer who tried to break up the fight Thursday night.
The injured officer was transported to St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino with a broken wrist, police officials said.
A Walmart manager said the doors were originally scheduled to open at 8 p.m. but with the more than 3,000 people in line they made the decision to open the doors early, which police said led to the melee.
Police said there were three fights total shortly after 7 p.m. at the store at 1610 S. Riverside Ave., two of which were inside over merchandise and the third outside that caused injury to the officer.
Great, so now we can expect shoppers behaving badly as stores like Macy’s, the Gap and Target opened their stores on Thanksgiving Day to create “Black Thursday.” Pretty soon Black Friday will go the way of the DoDo as all chain stores will be opening on Thursday night to get the jump on sales and insanity.
UPDATE I: VIDEO of the disgraceful behavior from NBC-SoCal.
Tensions were high at the retail giant’s Rialto location because shoppers were cutting in line, said Sgt. Nicholas Borchard, with the Rialto Police Department.
At least three people were involved in the brawl and two have been taken into custody, Borchard said. A police officer broke his wrist as he broke up the brawl.
The incident happened at 7 on Thanksgiving night at a Walmart at 1610 Riverside Ave.
UPDATE II: More Bad Behavior.
- A man in Claypool Hill, West Virginia, was slashed to the bone with a knife after threatening another man with a gun in an argument over a Wal-Mart parking spot, Tazewell County Sheriff Brian Hieatt told NBC station WVVA. Both faced charges after the incident that happened at 6:30 p.m. the station reported.
- Another shopper was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer after getting into an argument with a New Jersey Wal-Mart store manager about a television set, police told NBC New York. Officers arrived at the scene at 6:39 p.m. and once they had pacified the customer they also charged the shopper with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, Garfield police told the station.

Are You Kidding, Nothing Says Thanksgiving Like Pass the Turkey and Some DNC Obamacare Talking Points
YUP, nothing says Thanksgiving like some liberal relative deciding to spout off with prepared DNC Obamacare talking points at the dinner table. Seriously folks, let the BS rest for one day. How bad is it that the Obama White House and Organizing for Action feel they must send out Obama and Obamacare propaganda, so that liberal guests can ruin a Thanksgiving dinner? So be warned, if your liberal relative shows up to the table with his iPhone or iPad with this email pulled up, run, ran fast. Remind them, any more politics or Obama and its off to the small table!
Democrats are providing supporters with prep for debating “your Republican uncle” heading into the holidays.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) set up a website Wednesday with talking points on the economy, climate change, healthcare and immigration reform to use with family members on Thanksgiving.
We can’t do anything about highway congestion, but we can make sure you have the information you need to answer a bonkers question about President Obama’s record on jobs or the perfect fact to respond to a ridiculous argument about the Affordable Care Act,” the DNC’s digital director, Matt Compton, said in a press release. The site — yourrepublicanuncle.com — mirrors a similar page set up by Organizing for Action, the offshoot of Obama’s campaign apparatus, that gives tips on encouraging family members to sign up for health insurance through the new exchanges during the holidays.
You may also want to forewarn everyone before dinner that the closest hospital to your house that accepts Obamacare in 60 miles away.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2013 From Scared Monkeys … Thank You To All
A special Happy Thanksgiving wish from Scared Monkeys …
As you spend time today with family, friends and loved ones while feasting on turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, cranberry and maybe watching some football, please take the time to remember what you are thankful for and give thanks. We all have something to be thankful for, sometimes we just all too soon forget. As President Ronald Reagan said on Thanksgiving Day 1986, “Perhaps no custom reveals our character as a Nation so clearly as our celebration of Thanksgiving Day. Rooted deeply in our Judeo-Christian heritage, the practice of offering thanksgiving underscores our unshakable belief in God as the foundation of our Nation and our firm reliance upon Him from Whom all blessings flow.”
Let us truly be thankful …
I would be remiss if I did not say thanks to the many readers of Scared Monkeys both on the front page and in the forum who make it a joyous adventure. We do not all have to agree, that would make life pretty boring. But we do have to find a way to agree to make America work. I am so thankful to the moderators, past & present, in the Monkey cage at Scared Monkeys.net, San, CBB, Bearlyhere and Nut44x4, who volunteer their time who keep the peace and add their incite to so many stories going on in the news. And MuffyBee, who although is no longer a mod, adds much content and comments to the conversation. Thank you to Blink, at Blink on Crime who does such excellent and tireless work and crime sleuthing. I don’t say it enough Blink, but thanks for all you do and giving me a smack upside the head every so often. A special shout out and thanks to Dana Pretzer of the ‘Dana Pretzer Radio Show’ who brings us some of they best crime guests, and pundits in the game today and provides us with fantastic interview of crime and missing persons cases that is second to none! Even the ‘Elvis’ cup . And a special thanks to Klaas, the oil that makes the engine work. Her hard work and caring of crime and missing persons cases is only outdone by here work behind the scenes. You are a treasure, thank you. THANK YOU TO ALL!!!
As I have always said, we don’t always have to agree, life would be rather boring if we all thought the same. Debate and sharing of ideas is a good thing, but we must try to be respectful. However, what I have always found amazing is that so many people could come together, with different backgrounds, different thoughts, different ideas and work together toward a common goal on crime stories and missing persons. So many monkeys who truly care. Have there been disagreements, you bet. Do we discuss things that create passions, you bet. But in the end, we can respect each other and know that we fight for a common cause to be victim rights advocates and demand JUSTICE!!!
A Happy Thanksgiving to All and God Bless!
President Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Proclamation to the United States in 1863:
The year that is drawing toward its close has been filled with the blessings of fruitful years and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the Source from which they come, others have been added which are of so extraordinary a nature that they can not fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever-watchful providence of Almighty God.
In the midst of a civil war of unequaled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign states to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere, except in the theater of military conflict, while that theater has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union.
Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the field of peaceful industry to the national defense have not arrested the plow, the shuttle, or the ship; the ax has enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than theretofore. Population has steadily increased notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege, and the battlefield, and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years with large increase of freedom.
No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.
It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently, and gratefully acknowledged, as with one heart and one voice, by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow-citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next as a day of thanksgiving and praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverance’s and blessings they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners, or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it, as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes, to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility, and union.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.
Abraham Lincoln
