Former Souther African President Nelson Mandela Hospitalized with Stomach Ailment (Update: Released from Hospital)

The former South African President Nelson Mandela has been hospitalized with a stomach ailment. The 93 year old former leader who took on Apartheid and won has suffered from chronic abdominal complaints. According to reports, it was a planned admission, not an emergency even though Mandela has suffered from long-standing abdominal complaints.

Nelson Mandela

“I detest racialism, because I regard it as a barbaric thing, whether it comes from a black man or a white man.”
“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.

Former South African President Nelson Mandela has been hospitalized with a stomach ailment, according to a government statement issued Saturday about the 93-year-old anti-apartheid icon.

Mandela “has had a long-standing abdominal complaint and doctors feel it needs proper specialist medical attention,” President Jacob Zuma said, asking that Mandela’s privacy be respected.

The statement did not say at which hospital Mandela was being treated.

Update on Mandela’s hospitalization that he had an , undisclosed “diagnostic procedure” and that he is not in any danger. Mandela is expected to be released from the hospital on Monday. One would presume that Mendela has either an endoscopy, colonoscopy or both.

In a follow-up statement later, Zuma added that Mandela had undergone a planned, undisclosed “diagnostic procedure.”

Mandela “is fine and fully conscious and the doctors are satisfied with his condition, which they say is consistent with his age,” Zuma said. “We are happy that he is not in any danger.”

Zuma said Mandela was expected to be discharged from the hospital Sunday or Monday.

UPDATE I: Mandela released from hospital.

Out of Control Government … California Town Considers Banning Residents From Smoking Outside Their Own Homes

So much for Liberty in Rocklin, CA …

A California town is actually considering banning their residents from smoking outside of their own homes. So much for Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. In California, it is already against the law for smokers to light up near businesses, parks and playgrounds. Now your own home, seriously? Banning individuals from smoking on their own property, is as insane as it gets.  When did we allow government to take over such liberties? One family is complaining and a law will be made based on one troubling making family. This is just unacceptable.

A Placer County town is considering a ban on smoking that some say goes way too far.

The Rocklin City Council is considering making it against the law for smokers to smoke anywhere outside on their property.

The city council is considering the ban after one home owner complained about smoke coming from their neighbors’ backyards saying it caused health problems for their kids.

From The Blaze. Maybe these folks should close their windows. So let’s understand this, the PITA neighbors complain about this but have never mitigated their damages and left? If they think smoke is such an issue, why didn’t they do something sooner? And if you have such an issue … MOVE!!!

We’re just saying, ‘please don’t poison us,’” James Baker told the newspaper in the Sacramento-area city. “Can you smoke inside your home? The reason they don’t want to do that is because they don’t want their family breathing it in. But it’s okay for your neighbor?”

Kelly Baker said her two sons, ages 11 and 16, both have asthma and that after 10 years of breathing in their neighbors’ secondhand smoke, the kids have become sicker.

“Kids like to play in the backyard,” she said. “It’s scary when you can’t breathe.”

She told the Herald the smoke from her neighbors’ porch cigarette breaks seeps in everywhere in her house, including the bathroom and laundry room.

“I’ll stand by my pantry and smell smoke,” she said. “Even during the winter with every window shut and every door shut (the smoke) comes in. It comes in through the vents, I think.”

What’s next, no barbecuing outside either?

1%’er & Vile Liberal Comedian Bill Maher Gives $1 Million To Obama Super PAC

Maybe everyone will remember the source the next time Bill Maher spews his hate filled venom …

Bil  Maher donated a whopping 1$ million check to Priorities USA, the Super PAC that is backing President Barack Obama.  Everybody might want to remember this when Maher goes on his hateful, divisive, agenda driven rants on his HBO talk show ‘Real Time”. Kind of comical that the comedian manages to make comments about the 1%’ers when he donates $1 million to Obama. Is it comical or hypocritical … you make the call.

Comedian and HBO host Bill Maher made the pledge on Thursday night during his standup comedy special “Crazy Stupid Politics: Live from Silicon Valley” in San Jose, California, which was streamed live on Yahoo. A spokeswoman for Maher confirmed the pledge on Friday.

“I would like to tonight announce a donation to the Obama super PAC, which has the very unfortunate tongue-twister name Priority USA Action. I know it was named by Borat,” he said, referring to a bumbling Kazakhstan reporter movie character.

“I would like to give that PAC $1 million,” said the host of television political talk show “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

One might want to question whether Bill Maher’s HBO show is free political PR for Obama.

GOP Primary: Mitt Romney Back in the Lead Over Santorum in Michigan … What a difference a Debate Makes

What a difference a debate makes as a front runner …

Just a week ago GOP primary Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum had a lead in Michigan and everyone was talking about Romney’s campaign being in jeopardy if he lost his home state of Michigan. Then there was the woeful debate by Santorum as the front runner where he failed to wow anyone.

The result … Mitt Romney is back on top in Michigan and pulling away. According to the most recent Rasmussen poll in Michigan, Romney leads with 40%, followed by Santoum with 34% while Paul and Gingrich bring up the rear. What a difference a week and a bad debate by Santorum makes. The previous Rasmussen poll had Santorum in the lead over Romney 38% to 34%. Santorum’s bad debate was Romney’s gain.  As reported at The Hill, Romney turned in a strong performance in a pivotal GOP debate on Wedesday in Arizona as it was the first debate in which Romney and Santorum were the clear central figures, and Santorum was battered by attacks from Paul and Romney over his record as a senator in Pennsylvania.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Republican Primary Voters in Michigan shows Romney with 40% of the vote and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum with 34%. The poll was conducted on Thursday night, following the last scheduled debate among the GOP candidates. (To see survey question wording, click here)

Nate Silver also projects that Romney will be victorious in Michigan.

The FiveThirtyEight forecast model now projects a win for Mr. Romney by about four points in Michigan, roughly bisecting the Rasmussen Reports and Mitchell Research polls. Although that is inherently a fairly small margin, it is more meaningful given that there are just four full days of campaigning until Michigan votes; the model makes Mr. Romney about a 2:1 favorite in the state.

Mitt Romney also appears to be pulling away in Arizona as well.
