Oh Canada, Take Off, Eh … Canada to Pull Out of Kyoto Protocol Next Month

Canada and its Conservative government to pull out of the Kyoto Protocol, eh.  With as hypocritical as the Kyoto Protocol is in not applying any standards to China, India and Brazil, how could anyone with a straight face think that Kyoto is beneficial?

Canada will announce next month that it will formally withdraw from the Kyoto Protocol, CTV News has learned.

The Harper government has tentatively planned an announcement for a few days before Christmas, CTV’s Roger Smith reported Sunday evening.

The developments come as Environment Minister Peter Kent prepares for a climate conference in Durban, South Africa that opens on Monday, with delegates from 190 countries seeking a new international agreement for cutting emissions.

The Greenies and environmental critics in the Great White North go mental …

Green Party Leader Elizabeth May called the move “a very damaging act of sabotage.”

“It will reverberate around the world,” May told CTV. “Canada will be a pariah globally if it goes through with this.”

The accord is set to expire next year.

Interesting that Canada withdrew due to other nations not doing their part. I fondly remember the days when that’s what us Republicans also said as reason for not signing on, instead of just denying the GW problem all together.

Just think of all the emissions used by people from 190 countries flying to Durban, South Africa. These fools don’t see the hypocrisy, yet they want to tell the world how to live.

Canada had a shallow recession, and now has growth rates between 2-4% GDP… perhaps drilling, not buying this enviro-BS, and producing goods is a way to make the world a better place? Who knew?

I saw Powell at a Get Motivated seminar, and wrote about it here:

Here is a passage I wrote that is appropriate to bring up now:
General Colin Powell spoke on leadership and was surprisingly energetic…. I felt that his time in government has isolated him a bit from the ‘real world’- he no longer understands what it is like to work for a living due to his own time in Washington, flying on personal jets, sipping soft drinks and tea, making lots of money using his government connections. Some people talk about ‘Powell for President’, but I would never after hearing him say garbage like ‘I’ve made millions and now am retired living on a public pension so think that we should all do their part and pay more in taxes to help Obama blow money on bad ideas’.
