Hollywood Actress Daryl Hannah Arrested at White House for Protesting President Obama’s lack of Greenness

Wasn’t Daryl Hannah arrested in the movie ‘Splash’ (Video: 4:05) too?

Hollywood actress Daryl Hannah was arrested today outside the White House for taking part in an ongoing protest against the unbuilt Keystone XL oil pipeline. I guess Barack Obama is not green enough for the former Mermaid.According to accounts there were about 100 people arrested today protesting Obama’s energy policies.

“Sometimes it’s necessary to sacrifice your freedom for a greater freedom,” Hannah said in Lafayette Park before her arrest.  “And we want to be free from the horrible death and destruction that fossil fuels cause, and have a clean energy future.”

With dozens of others, Hannah sat on the sidewalk in front of the White House and refused three requests from the Park Police to move.

The group organizing the protest, Tar Sands Action, has said the Keystone pipeline — which will stretch from Canada to the Gulf — is among the most important environmental decisions that confront the president.

Although I probably agree with little of Daryl Hannah, I will give her this … she walks the walk, unlike hypocrites like Al Gore who claim they are green, tell others that they need to be green and then gets on his Leer jet. Hannah lives, breathes and walks “green” and for that I do have to give her kudos, even though she is a little misguided.  Good for her in not being a profiteering hypocrite like the Gore’s of the world.

It is too bad that these people have bought into the “Green” hype and the environmental hype.

Part of their jail time should be to make them all attend videos and lectures of how the energy system really works. There are probably 200,000 miles of pipeline in the USA. Most people don’t have a clue of where they are located.

The same thing will happen when this pipeline is built. It will be underground and the pump stations will be in areas that are not seen by the public.

Some of the faces and bodies of these Hollywood types
are certainly beautiful and fit. Actors and Actresses read
scripts and pretend to be what and whom they are not for
a living. Some do a great job at it.

Understanding how the world actually works is not a requirement
for these people. Causes are lots of fun and bring notoriety and
focus on them. The real world and Hollywood folks seldom meet.

and you don’t think that building a pipeline doesnt affect the enviroment?

But when its build its safer and better for the enviroment.

The answer to an oil spill cannot be the revoking of all oil drilling. That is insane.

I wonder how she got to DC, by bicycle? Cause I know she would not depend on fossil fueled jets and cars, that would be hippy-critical.

hey, I am all for those infra projects, its a whole lot safer then oiltankers and trucks moving around.

its however totaly BS to claim that it doesn’t affect the environment.

and me & the green ppl don’t really mix.
