LAUREN SPIERER MISSING IN BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA …

20 year old Lauren Spierer, a University if Indiana sophomore, has been missing since Friday, June 3, 2011 in Bloomington, Indiana. Lauren Spierer was last seen at about 4:30 AM. Witnesses say she was walking from 11th Street toward her apartment building at 8th and College Avenue, she was 3 blocks away and vanished.  She had been hanging out with friends at Kilroy’s Sports Bar. Police say she wasn’t wearing shoes after a night out. She never arrived at her apartment and according to reports, video footage does not show her entering the apartment complex.

Lauren is originally from Westchester County near Scarsdale, NY. She had just finished her sophomore year at IU and had planned to stay in Bloomington for part of this summer to take a course at Ivy Tech Community College before starting an internship at the clothing store Anthropologie in New York City

Description:

  • 20 year old white female
  • 4 feet 11 inches tall
  • weighs between 90 and 100 pounds, slender build
  • blue eyes
  • blond hair just below the shoulder
  • last seen walking barefoot
  • She had on a white tank-top with a loose light-colored button shirt and black stretch pants

According to her mother, Lauren Spierer has a life threatening heart condition known as Long QT Syndrome and requires medication.  Spierer’s mother has asked that if anyone knows where her daughter is, to please take her to the hospital. According to the VIDEO below, the parents were searching in the woods because they were told to. Hmm, she went missing in the city of Bloomington, yet parents told to search wooded areas? In none of the reports has there been any reference of cell phone activity; however, the police department told her parents they had custody of their daughter’s phone and wallet. According to news reports, there were conflicting reports stating the items were found in either her friend’s house or the bar. What would prompt a wooded search, based on what info?

UPDATE II: Key aspects of Lauren’s movements the morning she went missing. Question, who let’s a 4′ 11”, 90 lb girl walk home alone? Although, its a rather curious set of circumstances that here wallet and cell phone are in the possession of the police.

Spierer’s apartment is only a block and a half away from Kilroy’s Sports, and the last place she was seen, the intersection of 11th Street and College Avenue, is another two and a half blocks away.

Her known locations are all within a three-block radius of her apartment. Video footage at the Smallwood apartment complex shows that she never made it home.

The police department told her parents they had custody of their daughter’s phone and wallet. There were conflicting reports stating the items were found in either her friend’s house or the bar. The Spierers stayed at a downtown hotel Saturday night.

I am not sure why she would have been on 11th street if she was at the downtown Kilroys on 7th all she had to do is walk up walnut and take a left to get to her apartment on college and 8th

I sent in a add req and never got the second approval btw

Sorry disregard my last post I am not sure why she would have been on 11th street by the map of both Kilroy’s she should not have been up that far north that is very odd unless someone thought it was her. She should have not went past 8th street makes no since to me.

this is a map it shows both Kilroy’s on it and her apartment which is in a good part of town.

I live in Bloomington, and lived at 10th and College last year. It’s scary to think she pretty much disappeared on my old doorstep. It’s a major street and a well-lit area. There are apartment buildings on 11th and College, so maybe she was walking a friend home? I normally make a point of not walking alone, but last year I wouldn’t have thought anything of walking a mere 3 blocks alone on a major street like College.

I was wondering how someone could let her leave a bar alone, no matter how good that part of town is. And is she was at a bar, why didn’t she have shoes on? I also find it very odd that the family is searching the woods when she was last seen in the city. Really hope the family and friends find this girl safe. My prayers go out to laurens loved ones.

What can one say. Another 20 year old female out at 4:OO A.M. in the morning coming home alone from a bar.

I hope she is found safe. When will these young women learn that this is dangerous behavior?

    7. Mary jane on June 6th, 2011 3:29 pm

Why was she at Kilroys if she is underage? And, don’t they have video cameras of the patrons that night?

    8. Moi on June 6th, 2011 4:58 pm

NO offense, but WHAT was this girl doing out on the streets @ 4am? She deserves nothing of what certainly happened to her, nor does her family. But kids today need to use the brain God gave them. They are putting themselves in danger seeminly without a clue.

I’m 47 and there are places as a grown woman I’d not dare venture certain hours after dark. I know the dangers. Even on my own land (which is very, remote) I carry a large revolver during the DAY because one never knows. No place on earth IMO is safe any longer. No place.

The city is pretty much in the middle of the woods which is why they are searching wooded areas.
Living in this town fosters a false sense of security. Many people go out, drink to excess and walk home alone on a regular basis. Most people would not consider that a big deal. I’ve been guilty of it myself many times. Maybe this will encourage people to become more careful.
My prayers are with her friends and family.
      Oh yeah and-
Thank you Kilroy’s for serving people who are underage.

I would recommend they search the railroad tracks near that vicinity. There are a lot of homeless people that migrate to Bloomington in the summers. I’ve seen multiple bums being drunk throwing bikes over railings, fighting, and dealing drugs over the past couple months. They migrate from downtown to the railroad tracks passing through this area to get there most likely. If a drunk 90lb girl is walking it would be easy for a big fat bum to whisk her away. Do they have a map showing already searched areas? They need a map indicting what all HAS been searched, otherwise nobody will know. They need to track cell phone coordinates that were in that area (if possible) from cell towers then question cell phone users. Knock on ALL doors in the area to question people. They need to question all Smallwood residents.

One of two things has happened here. She either on the whim left with a boyfriend, or friend and is too embarrassed to come back because of this search thing, or two (the most likely thing) is she was whisked away, most likely in a car because they have pretty much searched the entire area of Bloomington. There had to be a vehicle involved. They need to check the Village Pantry cameras on 12th street, check all business cameras in general in the vicinity. They need to also get a hold of the rail lines (I think CSX) to ask them to search their trains and boxcars. Trains park their boxcars near that area on the railroad tracks. There are “hobo” camps up in that vicinity they might look.

I would check all gas stations leaving town and their cameras. This is VERY important and all street cameras actively running on exits from town. They need to search Lake Griffy as well because that’s the only remote and highly dense wooded area with water near town. It’s very close by where someone could drive a body there quickly in a panic.

This is so devastating and I wish I could help and be there to find her. Unfortunately I can’t, but my prayers go out to her and her family and friends.

I think they definitely just need to search all the cars in that town, especially trunks. Cars sitting on the side of the rode just need to be inspected and until the search is over, they need to be marked somehow. But even so, I think a lot of public information is the key. As much as I want to know, I don’t think any information regarding and suspects or what has already been searched should be released because if someone did take her. they will plan their next move according to what has already been done. Griffy Res. should be searched and look for tire marks to see if anybody drove off Headley Rd in the woods or anything. She is missing for sure and somebody knows where shes at. Her boyfriend needs to fess up cause I know he knows something. He needs to be as honest as possible and come out with every detail. I hope all is well and I will be following this till it is over! Pray for Lauren #FIndLauren

    12. Brad on June 9th, 2011 6:24 pm

Also, i don’t understand how she was at 11th and College. It doesn’t make any sense for her to be up there, especialy if she was barefoot and her stuff was left at the bars? Somebody knows something and somebody didn’t see something. So they need to find out, if she got into an argument, or whoever the tip was from, Find out who lives near 11th and College because she could’ve got taken there and decided that she didn’t want to be there, or got into an argument, per say, if the boyfriend lives over there, and they got into an argument and she decided to walk home. Everybody around her that night knows something, pray for the best, and ! Come home Lauren!
