Gallup Poll: Americans Approve of Military Action that Killed Osama Bin Laden & Give Credit to US NAVY Seal Team 6 and CIA

Sorry Barack, We the People know who the real heroes are …

According to a recent Gallup Poll, an overwhelming majority of Americans approve of the military action where US Navy Seal raided the compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan and killed terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden. 93% of those polled approved of the strike that killed Bin laden while a scant 5% disapproved.

Navy Seal Team 6 … The Best of the Best

The Gallup poll also shows that much to President Obama’s dismay, Americans give the US military and the CIA the most credit for tracking down, finding and killing Bin Laden. According to “We the People,” 89% of Americans believe that the military deserves a great deal of credit and the CIA received 62%.  However, Barack Obama comes in a distant, distant third with only 35%.

Military Gets the Most Credit

When Americans are asked how much credit they would give to Barack Obama, George W. Bush, the CIA, and the U.S. military for finding and killing bin Laden, the U.S. military and the CIA emerge as the big winners in the public’s eyes. Nearly 9 of 10 (89%) say the military deserves “a great deal of credit,” while 62% say the same about the CIA.

Americans are more reserved in giving credit to President Obama. Thirty-five percent say he deserves a great deal of credit and another 36% say he deserves “a moderate amount” of credit. More than a quarter say he does not deserve much or any credit at all.

35% eh, Barack? Looks like your I, I, I, me, me, me speech on Sunday night stating that Osama Bin Laden had been killed and you taking credit has not resonated with the People. Barbara Walters may want to recant her comment that they might as well cancel the 2012 Presidential election and Obama will be a slam dunk. Hardly. I have to agree 100% with Le·gal In·sur·rec·tion in their analysis of Obama’s narcissists speech … “Imagine what the numbers would look like if they said something nice about Bush.”

I will go one further, if Barack Obama wasn’t such an egotist and so high on himself, he had an opportunity to get an uber-poll bounce that would have had legs. BTW, where is the bounce? Forget saying something nice about W, imagine if Obama had invited former President George W. Bush to the WH for a joint presser that Bin Laden had been captured. The former president who started the process of hunting down Obama and the present one who was in office when Bin Laden was killed. Such a selfless and cooperative act would have shown that the war on terror is really about working together, but alas Obama, the most partisan president ever was simply incapable of bridging the divide and reaching across the aisle for the betterment of the country. Obama was once again too small for the moment.

nice right wing poll you got there.
      Bush gave up in 2005.
Your Congress was giving First responders terrorist background Checks while Cheney put your country in a tailspin hiring independent contracters.
It took REAL PATRIOTS LIKE THE PRESIDENT YOU DESPISE AND THE SERVICE PEOPLE YOU SCREW ALL YOU CAN TO BRING OBL TO JUSTICE! NOT A DADDIES BOY WHO HID IN AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND THE PENGUIN!!!

Actually you might want to read a bit and learn something, knowledge is a great thing. The intel that nabbed Osama originally came in from waterboarding. You know, that little intel getting device that Obama signed an Executive Order ending. This President benefited from others policies that he opposed.

So here we have one of the most successful missions in quite a while to wipe out a terrorist mastermind and all your posts are about how Obama did this wrong and Obama doesn’t deserve any credit.Blah blah blah.Pathetic.

SM: Blah, blah, blah … sorry LIB, that is what the American people think.

He had 6+ months to have made a decision and he still could not make a decision. Sorry, but this mission worked because of the expertize of the Navy SEALS and CIA.

So sorry if the truth hurts and it appears the narrative coming from the WH was not truthful.

Given that they had 50-80% certainty based on circumstantial evidence that Bin Laden was there I don’t think that 16 hours is long. Plus the choice to put Seals on the ground rather then bomb the building was very risky, but turned out the be the right move. Remember that Bush waited 3 weeks at Tora Bora, and wouldn’t accept a handover of Bin Laden because he didn’t negotiate with terrorists. After that, he refused to send in additional forces and relied on Afghans who took bribes and let Bin Laden go. Those two mistakes were to be followed by many others. Obama deserves credit no matter which way the author is trying to spin this.

Congrats for getting that article from drudge like you always do…by the way…

Guess what LIBCLOWN there are many sources out there that Drudge links to, guess what … one does have access to them w/o going to Drudge.

16 hrs makes him a ditherer. He had months to decide on what he was going to do when SEAL teams had trained for the raid. And by the way, Obama was not deciding on what type of strike, he was deciding on whether or not to go or no go. Obama said, ‘It’s a go’ … which means yes … not yes to Seals vs. bomb vs cruise missile.

      http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1383010/Osama-Bin-Laden-dead-Obama-took-16-hours-make-mind.html#ixzz1LKVjl6n3

Barack Obama kept military commanders hanging by declaring he would ‘sleep on it’ before taking 16 hours to give the go-ahead to raid Bin Laden’s compound.
Hit squads of specialist Navy Seals – who were not even told who they were preparing to capture – had practised the mission at two reconstructions of the terror chiefs sprawling compound.

But the president stunned officials when he told a national security meeting that he wanted more time to think – and disappeared out of the room.

I wonder if it takes Obama this long to make of golf shot?

Thing is you can’t vote for the military or the CIA in the presidential elections. Obama will benefit greatly from this success, it will help him to secure a 2nd term in office.
      ______________
SM: Ask George H. W. Bush how much the Gulf War benefited him in winning a second term.

    9. D on May 4th, 2011 4:19 am

You’re seriously attacking Obama for taking too long to get Bin Laden? Take a deep breath and think about that for a few seconds and you’ll realize how insane that is. Bush had 7 years (and still didn’t get him. He was to focused on spying on Americans and denying health care to sick children.), was that too long? Obama only took 2 and a half. 2.5 years and a success is worse than 7 and a failure? Typical Republican math.
      ________________
SM: Maybe you might want to take a breath and smell the coffee … Obama said go forward with a mission after all the i’s and t’s were crossed days before and he still waited to pull the trigger. However, Obama said “go” only after all of the efforts and investigative methods were put in place by Bush’s policies. That is a fact.

Do we honestly think a President who wanted to prosecute CIA operatives for waterboarding should take credit for intel that came from waterboarding? The wheels were set in motion for this long before Obama ever took office. I am glad that Obama did not interfere and derail this operation.

Even CIA Director Panetta says waterboarding played a part in obtaining the intel that started the process to get Osama.

    10. Trisi on May 4th, 2011 5:24 am

Seal Team 6 deserves the credit. Politically, who cares. The soldiers are the ones that went in risking their lives to get rid of the most wanted terrorist. The idea that the President would receive or take any credit at all simply by giving to go ahead is ridicules. With that said, we really need to stop looking a stupid polls to justify our views or opinions.
      _______________
SM: The polls do not justify an opinion, they show what Americans believe and who deserves credit for the mission. If you do not think that Obama is not wanting credit for this then why do you think he is doing a photo op at Ground Zero in NYC this Thursday? Hmm?

All Obama cares about is his poll #’s and milking this for all its worth, even though his very policies against interrogation would have prevented the intel from coming to light.

Gallup Right Wing? Dear God what planet do these people live on. I am assuming that this poll was held inside the west wing to get that high of numbers for this assclown thing occupying the White House. This guy has done everything in his political career to prevent something like this from taking place and now they want to give him a single shred of credit. Not today, not tomorrow, not ever from this guy.

@#10- Trisi—-Seriously, re-read the Editor’s response to your post and think about it.

I agree Obama deserves credit for giving the Green Light. He knew it was the right thing to do, although he vascillated (as usual) from time to time. I also wish you would watch the news and see what Leon Panetta has had to say about the actual mission and how it went down. We owe credit to him.

Look, Clinton could not get Bin Laden after the bombing of the USS Cole, and Bush could not get him (they came real close on a few occasions) after 9/11.

You may also want to keep in mind that GWB has declined Obama’s gracious offer to go make that appearance with him at Ground Zero. Read in between the lines, honey and KNOW YOUR FACTS before you spew your Right Wing BS. It doesn’t fly here for obvious reasons.

P.S. I do agree w/HRC’s decision and Obama’s not to publicy release photos of Obama’s corpse bc of backlash concerns. It is a gruesome photo, and the Navy Seals at least had the decency to wrap this piece of crap Terrorist in a white sheet before they dumped his ass at sea. Bin Laden also tried to use one of his wives as a body shield when the Seals confronted him in his third floor bedroom unarmed.

None of his children were armed, and the seals were under continual gunfire for 20-25 minutes before they broke in. Not one life lost but the one that counted.

GOD BLESS THE USA ! GOD BLESS ALL OF OUR MEN AND WOMEN IN THE ARMED FORCES!

Libtards! Get a clue. If you think this makes Obama a hero, then ask yourself the real question—how has he performed overall as your Commander-in-Chief. Take your emotion and Political Party affiliation out of it and use your damn brain, that is if you have one.

I didn’t vote for Mr. Obama the first time, and certainly won’t the second. He has done a few positive things since being elected, and this was one of the few. In my eyes, his inexeperience has shown through on numerous occassions, and ACORN and his millions on a well run campaign helped Barack Hussien Obama get elected in office and the blind Moonbats like you who may have voted for him legally.

Gallup and Rasmussen has shown ZERO bounce.

The liberal NY Times well is liberal and that says it all….

$6 gas prices and people still losing their home values and people still losing their jobs will in the end, kill his chances at re-election.

THIS will be LONG forgotten by November 2012.

It’s funny little losers like Jason and Mark do not know the facts about this…

Whose policies did Obama campaign against, yet kept in place to kill this guy? Who’s policies?

Right….that’s what I thought you dumb libtards!

They had more than 50-80% (BTW, did you make that number up out of your head?) certainty he was there because Obama went against just smashing that compound to smitherines so they could show the world we actually killed him. Why else wouldn’t you just drop a bomb on it and smash it to dust if the object wasn’t to show the world we killed this ****sucker; that secretly you people probably pray too in your government paid housing!

Think of this: if your great hero Bill Clinton; who had Bin Laden delivered on a silver platter; didn’t get “headers” from fat interns and instead decided to kill this SOB; 9-11 would have NEVER happened.

I hope your hero Bill Clinton sleeps well at night with the blood of 3,000 Americans on his hands!

    22. Tom Wright on May 5th, 2011 3:36 pm

How Americans can gloat and celebrate the death of bin Laden is shameful. When one country goes into another country totally unannounced, kills several people, leaves, and then reports to that country what it has done (post-facto), that is a sign that America has become a terrorist country herself. I believe that bin Laden was not a nice guy and should have been tried for his crimes. But, it is not difficult to understand why so many people dislike or even hate Americans, when you examine what they do in foreign countries (Cuba—Guantanamo and waterboarding, Italy and other countries—renditioning), the list goes on and on. I have nothing against the particular people who carried out the assassination, but I abhor the policies that sent them there. The assassination of bin Laden is nothing more than Old Testament eye-for-an-eye revenge. As Dr, King said many years ago, “You can kill the murderer, but you can’t kill murder.”
      ______________
SM: Wasn’t it amazing that Barack Obama went on a Osama Bin Laden is dead victory tour. With all you said above Tom, just curious … did you vote for Barack Obama? Will you vote for him again in 2012?

BTW, I do not really think that the American people were gloating and they were not celebrating death … THEY WERE CELEBRATING JUSTICE. And had you been affected or seemed to care about the senseless death of 3000 people on 9-11, you would have done the same.

    23. Dolf on May 6th, 2011 8:25 am

@21:Think of this: if your great hero Bill Clinton; who had Bin Laden delivered on a silver platter; didn’t get “headers” from fat interns and instead decided to kill this SOB; 9-11 would have NEVER happened.

I hope your hero Bill Clinton sleeps well at night with the blood of 3,000 Americans on his hands!

If Reagan didn’t fund and train Bin Laden..it also wouldn’t have happened..whats your point?

    24. Scott on May 10th, 2011 2:08 pm

Wrong…your example has no bearing on 9-11 or not. Because we trained him against the Soviets doesn’t mean 9-11 wouldn’t have happened. He hated us when he took that money. If you would ever pick up a book and read about UBL you would know he hated us before the Soviet-Afghan war, during it and mostly notably after it.

Having a chance to kill the SOB after he killed Americans in Embassies in Africa; after he tried to bring down the towers in 1993; after he killed many in our Navy on the USS Cole; and not doing anything about besides getting his Presidential stick waxed…..is my point simpleton.

Did he kill Americans when Reagan was Prez? Nope.

Did he kill Americans when Clinton was Prez? Yes! And the military TWICE told Clinton that they knew his exact point and Clinton said no and instead stained a blue dress with well his….love juice.

      That’s my point c**(edit)er!

    25. Dolf on May 11th, 2011 8:01 am

      sorry.
It doesn’t fit your reality, so it isn’t true.

So the Reagan admin knew he hated them and still trained and funded him??

and then Bush instead of going after Bin Laden shifted his attention to Saddam (who had nothing to do with 9/11).
      ______________
SM: If you want to take that simplistic of an analysis, that’s up to you. Have you read articles where the intel came from, you know that mosaic of data? From terrorist caught in Iraq, so it would appear that the war in Iraq was also helpful in taking down Bin Laden, just like GITMO.

Sorry, but the intel would have taken time to get to the bottom of and it was like a roulette wheel. who was going to be president when it came up Bin Laden, red.
