GOP Hope & Change: Republican Controlled House Will Open Congress With Reading of US Constitution

Reading its fine, but there should be a comprehension test following.

When the 112th Republican controlled Congress opens, they will read the US Constitution. What a difference that will be from the Pelosi run Congress. Speaker to be  John Boehner offers “We the People” a change that is needed. One wonders whether most of the members of Congress have ever read the US Constitution.

The Constitution frequently gets lip service in Congress, but House Republicans next year will make sure it gets a lot more than that – the new rules the incoming majority party proposed this week call for a full reading of the country’s founding document on the floor of the House on Jan. 6.

The goal, backers said, is to underscore the limited-government rules the Founders imposed on Congress – and to try to bring some of those principles back into everyday legislating.

The Gateway Pundit states, “they really need to hand out some copies, too.” We’ll go one further, all members of Congress should be made to ready, study, understand and learn the US Constitution. There will be a test the first week of the 112th Congress.

Splendid idea! We the People observe that ‘Politicians’ have
sunk completely into serving themselves. They have found
ways to siphon our wealth and turn it around to enrich
themselves thru corruption. Fearful of exposing the crimes
of another member for fear of losing one’s own position at
the trough in return, the wheel of crime against the ‘golden
goose’ continues unabated. A return to Constitutional principles
so perfectly crafted by our Founders will bring sanity and
freedom back to it’s rightful owners.

I think that this is more political stunt than substantive policy statements. I will be more interested in how Congress acts, and less concerned in what they say. Rhetoric, including this somewhat patronizing action, never help solve any problems our nation faced.

SM: And maybe they will actually follow the US Constitution. Oh yea, because the entire Pelosi lead 111th diaster Congress was not one political stunt after another in going against the will of the people. Which can explain why Dems no longer have the People’s House.

They need to read it to them every week and also to teach them that it was meant for the american peoples and does not apply to others as it would only protect them but still allow long term wearing down attacking of the people it was made for. ONE NATION UNDER GOD. THE GOD OF DAVID AND MOSES PEOPLE, religious freedom is being denied to the christians now.

The need to have the ‘reading of the Constitution’ compared
to each and every unconstitutional regulation recently put
into place by a corrupt bunch of CZARs and by Presidential
edict is elemental. Both the CZARs and the crooked ‘laws’
must be abolished. Back to the Founder’s original intent!

Every newly elected congress critter should be made to read and understand the Declaration of Independence, The Articles of Confederation, The Constitution of the United States and all of the Federalist Papers.

The GOP should begin a systmatic review of all Federal Agencies for the Constutional authority creating them. If there is no authority in the Constitution, then those agencies that do not have such authority should be immediately defunded.

You are completely clueless when it comes to our Constitution and religion. That is especially so regarding your comments on “GOD”.

You would be a good candidate for reading the Constitution and learning about our history to get better informed.

There are no czars in our government. This is merely a term used to described regular appointed officials. It does not appear in any job titles.
      ____________
SM: Really, wow, I feel so enlightened and thus the term czars.

      Red (#8),
It seemed the comment in #5 was particularly taking aim at the name Czar, given the emphatic use of all capital letters. As a common term, Czar is not offensive, but can be misconstrued to lend a more sinister feeling than is warranted.

From what you’ve said, it appears we both believe in the common usage.
      ________________
SM: Nope, czar in any use when referenced with a US govt no matter whether capitalized or not is a bad thing. Anyone, no matter what party in office, that does an end run on confirmation to appoint a czar is wrong, especially the LEFT WING nut jobs that Obama has put in place. There is a reason why he did not want them vetted.

You are nuancing a bit too much.
