10 Worst Places to Live in America … Cleveland, Detroit, Las Vegas & Miami Among Many

The 10 worst places to live in America as per WalletPop using a variety of criteria, including unemployment rates, health data, the number of foreclosures, crime statistics, climate and other measures of misery. High on the list and a common thread in many of these places is political corruption.

1. El Centro, California – Population: 41,241

Welcome to the home of the highest unemployment in the United States at 27.5%. OUCH!

One in four people here are out of work and the city holds the not-so distinguished honor of having the highest unemployment rate — 27.5%.

The desert city, which is located in Imperial County just across the border from Mexicali, has a jobless rate triple the national average of 9.5% thanks to the seasonal fluctuations of field laborers.

2. Cleveland, Ohio – Population: 431,363

Cleveland heads the Forbes list of “most miserable” US cities. What would Howard the Duck & Cherry Bomb say?

LeBron James isn’t the only person leaving Cleveland. The U.S. Census estimated that 2,658 people left the city in 2009, the largest numerical drop among America’s major cities.

Forbes also put Cleveland atop its list of most miserable U.S. cities, factoring in its high unemployment (although at 9.1% it’s below the national average), high taxes, lousy weather, political corruption and lousy sports teams — and that was before LeBron decided to leave.
Nicknamed the “Mistake by the Lake,” Cleveland ranked near the bottom when looking at corruption on the Forbes list. “Northern Ohio has seen 309 public officials convicted of crimes over the past 10 years,” according to the Forbes story, which cites data from the Justice Department. “A current FBI investigation of public officials in Cuyahoga County (where Cleveland is located) has ensnared more than two dozen government employees and businessmen on charges including bribery, fraud and tax evasion.”

Cleveland also ranks in the top third of all metro areas for foreclosure rates. The city has thousands of abandoned homes, in part because it provided down payments through the federally-funded Afford-a-Home program to many people who could not afford their mortgage payments.

3. Detroit, Michigan – Population: 871,121

Conveniently enough, Detroit is #4 with a bullet on Forbes “most miserable” city’s list.

Detroit is America’s most dangerous city, with 1,220 violent crimes per 100,000 people, according to violent crime statistics from the FBI’s latest uniform crime report, issued in 2008. It’s heavy reliance on the stumbling auto industry hasn’t helped matters much. Motown also boasts high foreclosure and unemployment rates

7 Year Old Julie Murphy Receives “Get Out of Jail Free” Card and is Allowed to Sell 50 cent Lemonade After All

There has been a “REVERSAL OF FORTUNE” in the case of 7 year old Julie Murphy selling 50 cent lemonade.

Julie Murphy, the 7 year old Oregonian girl who had her 50 cent lemonade stand shut down by a fool-hearty, over reaching and idiotic government bureaucrat, received an apology and permission to sell lemonade after all without purchasing a $120 temporary restaurant license. Go figure, children will not have to purchase a $120 license to sell lemonade. What a concept. However, would this reversal have occured if not for the outrage of common sense people?

No need to jack up the price of a glass of lemonade. Turns out kids won’t have to shell out $120 for a health permit to run their lemonade stands after all.

An Inconvenient Truth: Dutch filmmaker Paul Ruven Making Movie about Joran Van der Sloot and Death & Disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba

An ‘”Inconvenient Truth” for Dutch filmmaker Paul Ruven … Joran Van der Sloot killed again!

Let the filmmaker make the movie and bring attention to the Natalee Holloway case again. It will also bring about a backlash against Aruba and himself if he blames the victim and provides cover for what obviously took place.

An “Inconvenient Truth” for all who blamed the victim Natalee Holloway, Joran Van der Sloot killed Again

Natalee Holloway has been missing since May 2005 in Aruba when she disappeared without a trace after leaving Carlos N’ Charlies with Joran Van der Sloot, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe. The disappearance and death of the 18 year old Mountainbrook, AL teen has been attributed to Van der Sloot and the Kalpoe’s by all rational people. Unfortunately, the Aruba police and powers that be managed to cover up the crime from the outset through cronyism and corruption to save their precious tourism.

Now, comes Dutch filmmaker Paul Ruven who claims he is making a film about the Natalee Holloway case as he searches for the truth. Really? The film claims to hold no punches on any of the individuals involved including Joran Van der Sloot, Aruban police, government or the victims family. One does have to question why any one would take the approach of smearing the Holloway family as a way of so-called finding the truth as to what happened.

A Dutch film director is making a film about Joran van der Sloot, the Dutch national who was recently arrested and charged with the murder of a young woman in Peru. Mr Van der Sloot was also the prime suspect in the case of US teenager Natalee Holloway who disappeared while on holiday on the Caribbean island of Aruba in 2005. The film which is due out next year suggests the Holloway case stinks.

According to the film’s director Paul Ruven, we still don’t know what happened to Ms Holloway because all the parties concerned are putting their own interests first. The film asks why her body still hasn’t been found and why Van der Sloothasnever been convicted of any crime. It doesn’t deal with the murder of the 21-year-old Stephany Flores in Peru on 31 May this year. Van der Sloot is currently in custody in Lima awaiting trial over her murder.

Ruven claims to pull no punches and searches for the truth … yet has no issue in blaming the victim for her own demise. NICE. I guess it was quite inconvenient for Ruven what while blaming Natalee Holloway in her own death and disappearance in Aruba by making such allegations that she was on cocaine and chasing boys that Joran Van der sloot killed again in Peru. Hmm? Such a revelation kind of puts a crimp in the narrative of the missing Natalee Holloway now doesn’t it sir? Who would have thought while you were making one film that one of your main characters would kill again in Peru? Joran Van der Sloot has been charged in the death of Stephany Flores in Peru in which many of the events seem hauntingly similar to the death of Natalee Holloway five years to the day.

Taliban Kill 10 Foreign Aid Workers from International Assistance Mission on Aid Trip in Afghanistan

TALIBAN COWARDS!

Taliban scum ambush and kill 10 foreign aid workers from the group International Assistance Mission in Afghanistan.

Ten members of a foreign medical team — including six Americans and three women, all doctors and technicians — were shot to death on Thursday in a remote corner of the Hindu Kush in northern Afghanistan, officials confirmed Saturday.

Their aid group, the International Assistance Mission, said they were eye doctors, nurses and technicians, hiking into one of the toughest areas of the country to provide services. But the Taliban, who claimed responsibility, accused them of being spies and Christian missionaries.

“All indications are this is probably our team,” Dirk Frans, I.A.M.’s executive director, said from Kabul on Saturday. “They were on an optometric expedition, running an eye camp.” Both Mr. Frans and the police stressed, however, that no positive identification of the victims had yet been made. Their bodies were being brought out by road, a day’s journey to the district seat.

The 12-member medical team included six Americans, a Briton and a German, along with four Afghans, Mr. Frans said.
