READING, WRITING & RAPE: 2 People Arrested, Up to 20 Involved in Gang Rape of 15 Year Old Girl Outside Richmond, CA High School Home Coming Dance

WTF!!! What is going on in our schools … Reading, Writing and Rape.

Some stories just offend every sensibility of our human nature that it is impossible to be objective. The following is one of those heinous and despicable stories.

Two people have been arrested and as many as 20 may have been involved in the gang rape of a 15 year old girl outside a Richmond High School home coming dance in Richmond, CA. According to the police, a 15 year old girl was gang raped Saturday night over a 2 1/2 hour.

Police posted a $20,000 reward Tuesday for anyone who comes to them with information that helps arrest and convict those involved in what authorities describe as a 2½-hour assault on the Richmond High School campus in suburban San Francisco.

Two teenage suspects have been jailed, but more arrests, as many as 20 total, are expected, according to a police detective.

According to reports as many as 10 people took part in the actual rape while another 10 people looked on and did absolutely nothing. NOTHING!!! A 15 year old girl is brutally savaged for 2 1/2 hours and not one person did anything to help this poor girl. UNBELIEVABLE. Instead if a human reaction by the 10 to help, they just watched. Although how many of us think that some one captured pics or video of the rape on their cell phone?

Who knew that Big Dan’s Tavern was alive and well at Richmond High School? For those of you unfamiliar with the Big Dan’s Tavern reference, this was the rape case made popular by the Jodie Foster movie, The Accused.

The story actually gets worse, if possible. The 15 year old victim was found unconscious under a bench shortly before midnight Saturday. Police were called to the scene after, get this one, they received a call from someone in the area who had overheard individuals at the assault scene “reminiscing about the incident.” That is correct, people involved were reminiscing about the gang rape.

According to California law, it illegal not to report a witnessed crime against a child, but the law applies only to children 14 and under. So because this girl is 15, these people should not be charged? A crime is a crime and maybe it should hinge in the severity of the crime as well as thee age of the victim. Maybe they can be charged with conspiracy, accessories and most certainly charge them as adults. Also, you may not be able to arrest these students, but you can certainly expel them. There is no reason on earth why these scumbags should be allowed in the hallways with other students. Expel every one of them, no exceptions!

The fact that these gutless teens did not come forward and help this defenseless girl is one thing, but where was the high school security? They would appear to be negligent in this matter as well and bare responsibility.

Charles Ramsey, a member of the Richmond school board, said the school district bears some responsibility for the attack. School administrators and police apparently weren’t watching the area as they should have, Ramsey said.

The school said it would hold a safety meeting for parents and students Wednesday evening to address the assault.

So far there are two people have been arrested, 19 year old Manuel Ortega and a 15 year old.

Nineteen-year-old Manuel Ortega, described as a former student at the school, was arrested soon after he fled the scene and will face charges of rape, robbery and kidnapping, police said.

A 15-year-old was later arrested and charged with one count of felony sexual assault. A third teenager was being interviewed, Gagan said.

“Based on witness statements and suspect statements, and also physical evidence, we know that she was raped by at least four suspects committing multiple sex acts,” Gagan said.

      SICK, SICK, SICK!!!

    2. katablog.com on October 28th, 2009 8:44 am

Unfortunately, this doesn’t surprise me though of course it sickens me. This is what our world is becoming. The average human being these days (at least in the USA) cares about themselves and thinks little about how their own actions affect others.

One simple example would be those that support higher taxes for the “rich”. They don’t see the inequity in that. Another example would be the ObamaCare where people are willing to ruin everyone’s health care in order to ensure a few get health care they aren’t paying for. It appears in the political world that as long as *I* get my way or *I* don’t have to pay for it – then it’s a good thing.

Our politicians no longer care what their constituents want but simply that their party “wins” even if it means America loses.

And now, we have our children being attacked and brutalized but someone will pop up and want to defend the “rights” of the attackers rather than the victim.

There is no good response to this. Though my continued response in my own head is: “how can anyone physically rape anyone; how can they be arroused sexually to be able to perform a rape?” I think I have enjoyed sex more than any guy I ever met, and I only liked the loving kind. The “sick” part that more than some people do is the mixing of love and pain. I feel anger towards those who got only half a dose or less of love (mis-use of the term and all).

If I/we named off all the things sex is when at its finest or anywhere less, I just do not come to counting pain, dominance, or regulating to trash another. These people should be locked up forever. Girl too, if she is one of the ever more common females that encourages and enjoys male sexual roughness.

As I said, no good response, but (the story) it begs one. Especially here on the last of the net where we get to speek our real thoughts

You know, as parents of 2 teens, one being a 13-year old Girl- my husband & I consider ourselves to be pretty liberal or at least described as Center-Right overall.

When reading stories like this in the press, I am absolutely CONVINCED we recently did the right thing by telling our Daughter-”NO”- that she unfortunately cannot go on the year end trip to Washington, DC with 40 of her classmates. Chaperoned or not- in today’s society- as adults we must never forget that safety is a HUGE, HUGE issue! The rapid decline in morality of the human race overall is again witnessed first hand when we hear about stories like the above.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE??? We also keep fresh in our minds the story of Natalee Holloway and dread the time both of our children graduate High School and beg to go on “Senior Trips”. The reecent decision in our household brought many tears, disagreements, pleas, begging and of course, our daughter attempting to place us on a massive guilt trip !!

In addtion–the damn 5-day trip would have cost almost 1,000! Funny, when we offered that we could ALL go discover our Nation’s history on a family instead ???? Hmnnnnnnnnn….no takers there.

As parents- we really have to try harder and at every turn to PROTECT our children and not place them in potentially risky situations.

It’s a sad fact that in today’s society—no one can really be trusted when it comes to the safety and well being of children and teenagers.

Sorry to go off topic a bit, it’s just so sick, sad, disappointing and completely enraging all at once to have to see things like this in the headlines.

      =(

Ahhh, the dumbing down of America also includes the youth seeing a heinous crime being committed and not having enough of a conscience to make an anonymous call to report it.

Truly, something to tell their grandchildren about while “reminiscing” once again of that night when they were witness to(aided and abetted) an abhorrent crime.

I would hope that the nineteen year old would also be charged as a child predator as well as rapist since the girl was fifteen years old, but I guess that would be too much too ask of the state of California.

Devoid of Culture! Marginalizing Christianity is a Progressive’s
job. Only a few generations of culture-less people can quickly
degenerate into these self-serving un-civilized bums we call
‘children’. Wonder where civilized ‘Culture’ originates…Hmmm?
Just who would be supplying a ‘way of being’ for these low-life
beings to live by? MMM, mmm, mmm!

    7. Melissa on October 28th, 2009 11:34 am

Why doesn’t anyone question where the father was that was supposed to be picking her up?? 2 1/2 hours later and he hasn’t arrived to pick her up yer? Where’s the rest of this story?

    8. Outraged Parent of 3 teenagers on October 28th, 2009 1:54 pm

As a parent of three teenage sons, I’m outraged at this. What are these parents teaching [or not teaching] their kids. If this were one of my kids, I would want them punished with the fullest extent of the law. How dare these scoundrals [not even fit to be called men or human beings] do something like this. I hope the parents of these teenagers predators do not make excuse for their worhless children like I see so oftenly done]. I say castrate them all 4 what they did amd let them live with that. Sick Bastards!

    9. Outraged Parent of 3 teenagers on October 28th, 2009 1:59 pm

Ummm, excuse me Melissa, are you so quick to point the finger at every one but the perpertrators [because one of your children was an active partaker in this crime or an active bystander] which is it, because only a sick individual would blame her father for not picking her up 2 1/2 hrs earlier. Please dont insult this family with your ignorant nonsense. If this were your daughter, would you feel the same? Such ignorance, and we wonder where these degenerates get it from…People like Melissa!!![ enough said]

    10. R.L.Haley on October 28th, 2009 2:35 pm

I think fingers should be pointed at every assh*le that stood there and did nothing and they should be charged and as for MELISSA’s comment why dont you just ask if the 15 year old victim was wearing a red dress too you dumb hack!

    11. R.L.Haley on October 28th, 2009 2:36 pm

Sorry melissa your not dumb your just ignorant.

    12. NewGirlBoston on October 28th, 2009 2:41 pm

#9- Outraged—I completely agree with your post!!!! Everything STARTS and ENDS at home.

Though we’re far from being perfect I’m sure-perhaps if MORE parents believed in what you and I do- we may have less stories like these to contend with.

WAKE UP AMERICA! Our Children are our future and most precious asset! Screw all the “political corectness”, people AND DO THE RIGHT THING!

Teach your children well! Lead by example ! and for Godsakes—stop making excuses for atrocious behavior!!! (Think Cindy & George Anthony)

On the other hand, while this is not very christian-like—I won’t even post what I would do if anything like this ever happened to one of my children ! Needless to say, my Husband and I would probably end up in jail!

    13. St Stephen on October 28th, 2009 5:50 pm

Welcome to the new culture, coming soon to a neighborhood you live in…NOT!

I heard some “mono” representative of the school say basically the same thing Melissa said. he had absolutely no compassion for the 15 year old victim or outrage for what just transpired. The fat pig looked at it as if it was the father’s problem, so tough tt’s.

Morons such as this specimen of human waste are what teaches the youths in this and other garbage dumps that pass for schools. He needs to be fired from such a responsible position, pronto!

    14. kitty on October 28th, 2009 7:38 pm

I can imagine that her father was going mad trying to find her? All the posters here, have pointed out very thoughtful, insightful, poignant, comments and we’re all OUTRAGED, sickened by this and it’s absolutely unconscionable that there were 10 standing around “watching” a crime being committed to an innocent victim ~ and the monsters, raping her one at a time… taking turns is frightful and sickening ~ disturbing. This is about power and control and has nothing to do with sex ~ for New Girl from Boston ~ it happened to one of mine and it took every fiber in my being not to murder the bastards ~ (that’s another story)… and my faith kept me from doing such, however it being some 20+ years later, I still could do it.. (BTW, the monster lives near Beverly Hospital)… never been convicted…or put on a sex offender list ~
how many other children did he harm since in those 20 years?

Our laws need change. Judges need to be educated… our legislators, too… recently on Beacon Hill a DA was speaking on behalf of a law to not have a jury process in level 3 offenders ~ it was just yesterday that it was being discussed… (that was from the Mass General Hospital incident where a level 3 sex offender attempted rape to a women in a bathroom in the hospital)… he actually had made calls to places saying what he wished to do to children even…

These disturbed deviants need to be castrated, or executed. All of them.

      No mercy.

Believer or not ~ I said it. Something very, very, VERY wrong. Thank God, I’m not this girls Mamma, this time, I think I may not have had the strength and have continued on and done the deed(s)…

and may God give her Father strength not to kill everyone of them… it’ll take supernatural strength of God to prevent him from doing so… trust me, I know.

I am praying for her, for healing ~ she’s now been so damaged, not only physically, spiritually, emotionally… may she be able to go on.

Do the damn judges understand the damage done to the victims?… the lifetime sentence they and the affect it has on the entire family… what they endure? I pray, she becomes empowered, finds her fierce voice and somehow, someday, things will be changed for the better of society through this heinous, disgusting, inhumane act. May God give her the strength ~ to go on….
God be with her and her family… we need to pray for her.

#14-Kitty—Nice to see you on again. All of what you state is factual, and YES- we all continue to be outraged!

What can I do here in Boston, specifically? Where can I go and get involved so that my voice, actions or volunteer efforts may be a part of a grass roots movement for change? Since you have experience in this area—just tell me the way to go!

And, NO- in this State-the damn judges just do their job and it seems that criminals, deadbeats, various perps and sexual offenders often have MORE RIGHTS than their victims! It’s maddening. It appears at times as if they get more protection from the law in this damn liberal state than those they have harmed and whose lives they have affected that will never be the same again. (Just like this poor girl in this most recent event.)

I remember telling you long ago that maybe some day, I’d “see you up on the hill”…..(as in Beacon…)

Again, thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts with us and please feel free to contact Klaasend the Site Moderator so that we may exchange emails to communicate off forum.

We must never give up, or give in. This you know ! Last but certainly not least—thank you also for continuing to be a voice for victims and their families and continuing to advocate for what little justice there may be left in this World. You are inspirational indeed!

I am so mad at the school officials at the school. They should all loose their jobs. This is horrible. If that were my child, I would go hunting these creatons.
All of these perpes and and the worthless ones who stood around should be found and incarcerated for the rest of their lives. Those that participated in the actual rape should be castrated as a part of their punishment.
The community needs to come together and punish these people. No more school functions or dances period.
Where were the school officials who should have been watching over this event? Where were the hired policemen that should have been there?
This is proof that our schools need a drastic overhaul prior to being allowed to teach our children. Home schooling where family values are taught looks better and better.

    17. George on October 28th, 2009 10:07 pm

These guys participating in this crime are animals, nothing less than that and does not deserve one day of freedom for the rest of their lives. Absolutely pathetic with very sick minds to say the least.

    18. St Stephen on October 28th, 2009 10:59 pm

I would have absolutely no qualms about subjecting the child-rapists to a fronta-lobe lobotomy. At least they may still be a productive part of society in some small way.

They do not actually need their brains, or so it may appear.

    19. NoseyRosey on October 29th, 2009 10:13 am

I was going to post yesterday and decided I was too frustrated to get my point accross. Melissa – I am not attacking you but your post was one of the topics I was going to touch on yesterday. This is just the beginning. This girl is going to be victimized over and over again. People don’t want to accept that there are teenagers capable of committing these heinous acts- so in turn we point the blame in the WRONG direction. I don’t care if this girl was drunk, on drugs or naked lying on her back (not saying she was at all)- at some point we have to make the right decision and obviously 20 something people made the WORST decision affecting hundreds of lives. All of these people involved have families and guess what – they are all having to deal with this because EVERYONE chose to do the wrong thing. There is no excuse for what happened to this FIFTEEN YEAR OLD CHILD……Zilch. She was raped and her rape was viewed as entertainment to the sick minds of these OFFENDERS!!!!!! I am sorry, but I have a son and a daughter and I would be mortified if my child was ever raped, BUT I would be beyond mortified if my child sat back and watched while this happened to someone. It does start at home- and I know sometimes the best people raise a “Wayward Child” but it is our job as parents to insert simple “RIGHT FROM WRONG” in our children’s minds. This is unacceptable and ALL of the participants in this have to be punished in order to learn from this tragic event.

    20. Ryan A. on October 29th, 2009 2:45 pm

Wow…. that’s just sick! I mean… wow.. wtf? wow…. that’s really sick… if I was there I would just run up in the middle and start killing people with my leatherman wave knife and rescue her from being gang raped… I would kill them ALL if I have to…. and these guys couldn’t even dial a number for help… wow…. so lame… SO sick… I’ve got a sick mind but I can’t even force my self to imagine how this went down… just soo sick… wow… my god…. no god…. at least they spared her life? :/

    21. May on October 29th, 2009 2:57 pm

I don’t think Melissa was blaming the Dad or in anyway saying what happened to this girl was OK or even asked for. I don’t think she was in any way defending the scum that did this. I think she simply wanted to get the whole picture of what happened. What events lead up to this poor girl being in this situation and how can we as parents help avoid them. Obviously this girl had decided to hang out longer and somehow got that message to her Dad. Otherwise I am sure he would have been tearing the dance and everything else apart looking for her.

    22. kitty on October 29th, 2009 3:59 pm

#18… the lobotomy needs to be on the front lobe of the little~ big brain ~ IE/penis… zap!

A regular lobotomy to the frontal lobe of his skull will only erase his misdeed ~ and may I recommend the little/big brain solution… it’ll (penis) hopefully will fall off in the electrolysis ~ process… and that’d be a good thing. Maybe, just maybe with the right amount of current… zap~ fantastic…

(horrible to think this way, but hey… just had to go there for a moment)…

For all those monster sex offenders too ~ when they are given that ankle bracelet for in home incarceration… it should NOT be attached to the ankle, duh… put it on the plumbing…(penis) zap~ have the victim or their families take turns and let them have the monitor device to turn up the jewels/electric current at their whim… now, that’s a start too… they’d (the monster/predators/pervs/pedophiles)be begging to go to prison for life!

(one of my fantasies for curing the predator/monster situations here in Boston)… it’s so difficult to get an offender captured in the first place.. when the authorities do, they have their catch and release program… level ~ level~ level ~ 3…. how does anyone justify a “level” of offense… ANY sexual offense to a child/human being is bad enough… these offenders can NOT be cured…(fact) ~ why waste our $… further… send the monsters ALL to prison, throw away the KEYS… please!

      for New Girl…
I’ll get back ~ it’s been so darned frustrating.. I honestly don’t know what to do~ does anyone on Beacon Hill give a hoot?… does anyone in U.S.A?… we do have a voice ~ it’s just not being heard~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ~ I do feel there needs to be some grassroot input..

What will it take? The Judges family member getting harmed? A Senators? Congressman? What? I do not ever wish that, nor am I suggesting anyone harm someone ~ ever… it’s so heinous and outrageous that children are devalued here in our Country and worldwide…

    23. NewGirlBoston on October 29th, 2009 10:25 pm

#22- Kitty—There are so many organizations which assist domestic violence and sexual abuse victims…I was just wondering which ones you felt were more worthy of devoting some volunteer time to vs. others…. When I have researched what is out there,,,it is a little mind numbing….where to start?

I do hear you about the frustrating part….after reading this story this week…I swear it put me in such an angry, po’d mood for the past 2 days….REALLY! It is soooooooooo enraging, so many of us are appalled and disgusted. So, I say- I should take all this negative energy and put it into something postitive where perhaps it might make a difference. Let me tell you one thing though- my family & I have volunteered and given many hours, financial resources, literally my blood, sweat and tears to the indigent & less fortunate in my City…sometimes I find myself being very disappointed at some of the recipients because many are completely unappreciative of these acts of kindness and have the nerve to come back and ask for more assistance without even a simple acknowledgement (nevermind or Thank you). While I understand that acts like these should be done without expecting a thing a return, to me- that is disheartening. I think it’s time I devote some of my generosity, compassion & time towards those who have been sexually abused… children or teenagers or adult survivors who have been wrongfully exploited.

Anyway, thanks for letting me rant.

      #19- Good post.

And I have to say, I do think Melissa was instantly trying to look for accountability of this instance in the wrong place! While she shouldn’t be crucified for that- she was way off base, IMO.

    24. JD on October 30th, 2009 9:20 am

OMG… Sick…. To me I don’t think sick is the right way to describe this. I don’t feel there is any word or words to describe this event. I don’t think they can be described as animals either. After all animals even in the wild have more sense than these things that were given a human birth.

IMO… All involved (whether they were part of the act or watching) despite their ages should have to, as part of their punishment, experience EVERYTHING, this child had to endure. For no less than the 2.5 hrs that she went through it. Let them feel all the pain(physically,emotionally,psychologically).Err. Make them feel the pain. I am absolutely positive you can find 20 people in any prison. That would take broom handles or other such devices (even their own) and do to these things what they did to that poor girl. Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. If that was my daughter. I wouldnt wait for the judicial system. These ingrates ABSOLUTELY WOULD FEEL EVERY BIT OF PAIN AND MORE. I would get 20 people and hunt them 1 by 1 til I got them ALL. THEY WOULD BE RAPED BY WHATEVER I COULD FIND. In some cases 1 crime does deserve another crime. With no punishment unto the original victim.

Sry but this makes me irate. So TY for letting me vent also…

The San Jose Mercury News slandered our victim on Sunday by insinuating that she was drunk and unconscious when the attack began. this is absurd, demand a front page retraction of this. this is blaming the victime. Idiot gang interventionist Orlando Ramos stated that he knew three of the rapist. and was shocked that were involved. He said that they were followers, not leaders. He didn’t say why that caused them to nearly rape this white woman to death and beather

    29. Beverly Turner on November 10th, 2009 3:01 am

The San Jose Mercury News needs to print a full page retraction for slandering the victim. In the Sunday edition they said she was unconscious or semiconscious from drink when the attack began, which was not my understanding. Orlando Ramos, formerly an “educator” at Richmond high stated that he was shocked that three rapists that he personally knew were involved. He said that they were followers not leaders (so maybe we should let them off). It is my opinion that they intended to kill this woman. This is the worst hate crime of all time.
