This case sickens me. Mental illness aside, even an institution for the criminally insane is not a place this woman belongs afterwards. She will get no help in there, she is unreachable.

What is the alternative? No answer here but this is one of the most despicable and gruesome cases of Maternal homicide ever to exist.

Well obviously this lady is deranged to say the least. She killed her baby, mutilated his body and even ate his brain. This is horrific, it’s mind boggling, it’s gruesome, it’s hideous. She then tries to kill herself. This woman is a danger to herself as well as others. So now she becomes a burden on the taxpayers either as a mental patient or a death row inmate.

This is very disturbing. What do you do with someone like this?

As bad as it sounds, I don’t think there is any help for this person. Does she know what she did? I doubt she’s competent to stand trial, so i’m speculating she will be incarcerated in a mental institution.

#2- Michelle—See, that’s exactly what I meant in my post—-what does Society do with a person like this? No doubt, she will be institutionalized for life…she was beyond insane. Completely unreachable though, so again we ponder….What to do? We’ve all heard some pretty shocking & gruesome hard to believe stories over the years…but this…Wow…really boggles the mind. I don’t even look at a Woman like Otty as human. Was she possessed? Truly, there are cases of legitimate Demonic possession…this sounded awfully close.

#3 ANewGirl-I think it’s a no win situation. I read on another site that her family knew she had issues. She had been in & out of hospitals, she had left her home with the baby & threw the baby while in his car seat into the front seat of the car and drove off after having an argument with her significant other. Her mother, her partner, her sister all knew she was unstable but did nothing to get her help. WHY would the family allow her to care for that baby knowing she was unstable. I just can’t understand people. Everybody failed this poor baby, the family, the hospitals, l.e., she should have been locked away earlier, instead a child has to be brutalized before anything is done.

And yes, I do believe people can be possessed. I don’t know if that was the case with her but it does happen. I’m not sure if she was evil, psychotic or on drugs or what the hell was going on with her, I just know that she needs to be locked away for ever.

#3 Here’s a link if you want to read more about it but it’s not pretty. It makes my blood boil & makes me feel sick all at the same time. A lot of emotions going on with this one.

#5- Good Morining, Michelle. Again, we are in complete agreement. Who can forget the case about Susan Smith, either? I really feel that her entire family and her husband failed her in that one small but important way. She also had a history of being mentally unstable—her husband knew she had been in and out and on medication and needed more help. What Psychological Clinician or the Doctors treating her did not assess her properly and suggest other help care for her children when she was going through all this? One could tell that poor Woman just lost it and it was legitimate—she was not evil—she literally had no control over what she was doing she was so psychotic. What a shame. Now Susan Smith’s worse nightmare is living in that prison knowing every day she ended the life of her 5 children. In this case, I thought the punishment was fitting. They will keep medicated just enough so that she cannot harm herself or others, and that’s all she wrote!

In this case—again, I concur—why didn’t others intervene if they knew these children were at risk? We weren’t there so we don’t know–but I can say this—more and more each day I find myself asking the same question you do when it comes to people I just don’t understand…What the hell is WRONG with people? Has our society changed that much that nobody really gives a sh&# anymore and places such a low value on human life?

The answer then saddens me too much, that if I think about it too long- I find myself suddenly desiring a glass of J. Lohr Cabernet or maybe a nice, strong Cosmo. =(

#6 Good Morning…Sadly I do feel that society has lost apathy for other human beings. It seems that more people are only concerned with themselves & if it doesn’t affect them, they don’t care. Every time I read about a precious child that is abused, neglected or murdered it breaks my heart & sickens me all at the same time. It’s shocking what humans will do to each other without a second thought. We are becoming a nation of barbarians it seems. I have been reading about a plethora of this kind of thing and I don’t believe enough is being done about it. Who is looking out for the innocent babies/children?

    8. ANewGirl on July 30th, 2009 2:37 pm

Absolutely ! As they always say in here and everywhere else….

IT SHOULDN’T HURT TO BE A CHILD

Another dispicable case out of Boston ….Neighbor cut the unborn child out of womb of murdered Mother and kidnapped her….They have her on 2 Mil Bail, baby has been recovered and will be placed either up for adoption or given to family members of victim. Kudos to the Worcester MA police for turning this around so quickly. All one can do his hang your head and just say “Woooooooowwwwwww” when stuff like this hits the headlines.
