Not Just the 40th Anniversary of Moon Landing … Also 40th of Dem Leader Ted Kennedy Killing Mary Jo Kopechne at Chappaquiddick

My how time flies when one is a Senator from Massachusetts.

Would Ted Kennedy have kept his political office today if he killed Mary Joe Kopechne July 18, 2009?

It has been 40 years since Senator Ted Kennedy killed Mary Joe Kopechne, known as the Chappaquiddick Incident. Mary Jo is gone, God rest her soul, and Ted Kennedy is still a US Senator. We wonder what is wrong with our politicians today? In many cases we need only look to the past to explain our representation today.

Kennedy was driving a 1967 Oldsmobile Delmont 88 with one of the women, 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne, as his passenger, when Kennedy drove off Dike Bridge into Poucha Pond between Chappaquiddick Island and Cape Poge barrier beach.

On the night of July 18, 1969, Ted Kennedy left a party on Martha’s Vineyard’s Chappaquiddick Island with  28 year old Mary Jo Kopechne when Kennedy drove off Dike Bridge into Poucha Pond. Ted Kennedy escaped the vehicle in the water and swam to safety, but Kopechne died in the submerged car. Kennedy left the scene of the accident and did not call authorities until after Kopechne’s body was discovered the following day. Kennedy would eventually turn himself in and get a slap on the wrist.

On July 25, Kennedy pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and was given a sentence of two months in jail, suspended. That night, Kennedy gave a national broadcast in which he said, “I regard as indefensible the fact that I did not report the accident to the police immediately,” but denied driving under the influence of alcohol and denied any immoral conduct between him and Kopechne.

Judge Boyle also said that “negligent driving appears to have contributed to the death of Mary Jo Kopechne.”Under Massachusetts law, Boyle could have ordered Kennedy’s arrest, but he chose not to do so.

For his actions in the “negligent driving appearing to have contributed to the death of Mary Jo Kopechne,” Ted Kennedy was re-elected as MA Senator in 1970 and ever since. Could someone from Massachusetts explain how such a negligent individual who left the seen of an accident and failed to report it is continually elected?

Can anyone imagine this happening today and a politician surviving the incident? Politicians are ousted for affairs, let alone contributing to the death of an individual and leaving the scene of a crime so that authorities could not see the condition they were in at the time of the accident.

You know ,I have the answer, because hes a member of what some americans think is their Royal Family or a (better version),You would think…you know you break off from a monarchy only to make your own royal family, and place this family on a higher shelf, this problem also thwarted the murder of a teenage girl, like 20 years ago why, because one of his relatives was married to Bobby Kennedy,Please,I find nothing alluring or sensible about this horse faced family, but then im not american. You Know? Eh

We all know why Kennedy only got “a slap on the wrist” and literally got away with murder. The last name says it all…

It’s a shame that justice was never served in this case and the morons of Massachusetts continue, to this very day, to elect a cold blooded murderer to represent them!!

It is one of the most despicable things in American politics and compounded by the voters of Massachusetts.

Ted got a pass because of the deaths of John and Robert.

It would have been one thing to have had Ted not serve jail time, that was bad enough. But for then to have a state vote this individual back into office every election since knowing that he was most likely impaired at the wheel, drove off a bridge, saved himself and left Mary Jo to drown, run away and hide and only turn himself in after any affects of his partying had worn off is beyond comprehension.

The collective voters of MA should be ashamed. How dare any of you ever call for the resignation of any other politician.

The Kennedy boys and father are the best examples of how not to behave. What a buch of boozers and womanizers and all of them created a mess in their lives. I have never forgiven the people of Mass. for continuing to elect this murderer.
Ole drunken bum Teddy boy better be glad that Mary Joe was not my daugter, for if she was, Teddy would have shortly have experienced her maner of death first hand.

If I remember correctly Mary Joe’s family sort of just let the whole story “go” so to speak…always wondered about that.

One can imagine the horrible death of Mary Jo
clawing at the interior of the vehicle. One may
have difficulty reconciling the callous abandon
on the part of Teddy as he swam away to sober
up prior to being found out. This callousness is
rampant among those who would claw their way
into positions of Control. Very telling!

Since that time I never mention Ted low life without a connecting distaste to him. Never listen to what he has to say in politics..not a word. He should have died there if Mary Jo was to die there!

The whole Papa Kennedy brood a bad lot. Tried to make a false hero of the oldest boy for political hay. Just got him killed.

And I happened to meet a fellow who was on the Pres PT boat. He lived only a few miles from me…Grandview Tx. Quite a character. He made a sure case for the Pres was no hero. The old man was interviewed a few times.

The Kennedy family corruptly indulged for money/power to get established and then knew no other way to exist. Power to Kennedy’s by doing pain to others and themselves. Absent any example of quality leadership. I think they are clearly a case of ‘doing whatever you can to make self look good’…”good” to them, worn as if a splash on smell.

      Power and privilege ~

Teddy received a 2 month suspended jail sentence ~ after pleading guilty of leaving the scene of an accident…

What would the charges have been if it was anyone other than a “Kennedy”… who knows? I wonder what it would be today, if it were to happen…

I too think Super Dave’s on to something here…

William Kennedy Smith was acquitted in 1991 for rape ~ he was the nephew of Teddy… (a Dr.)…that may have been his 2nd charge of rape… quite a character ~

Michael Skakel, (Ethel Kennedy’s nephew)~ was charged in 2002 for a 1975 murder of Martha Moxley in Greenwich, CT (she was 15 years old at the time of her murder).. her family never gave up ~ and he was finally convicted years later… apparently when he was in boarding school he mentioned that he’d get away with murder because “I’m a Kennedy”…

it’s interesting living in “Kennedy” country… sooo liberal, it’s scary ~ believe me, there are many here in Massachusetts that wonder the same thing… how on earth has and does he get voted in over and over again…? unreal ~ oh, guess it’s cause, he’s a Kennedy! Of course!

that name, carries a lot of weight here in Mass…

Thankfully, some of us, didn’t drink the koolaid
