Fatal Bomb Blasts hit Two Jakarta, Indonesian Hotels (Ritz-Carlton Hotel and J.W. Marriott Hotel)

President Barack Obama … is there still no war on terror? Would the following fall under an ‘Overseas Contingency Operation’? We are glad to see that a softer name was provided to the efforts to deal with terrorists, unfortunately Barack, they didn’t get the memo.

According to the BBC, a fatal bombing has occurred this morning in the Indonesian capital Jakarta at the Ritz-Carlton. It is being reported that 9 people have been killed including the suicide bomber.

At least nine people have been killed, including a suspected suicide bomber, in two blasts at luxury hotels in the Indonesian capital Jakarta.

One explosion hit the Ritz-Carlton, ripping off its facade, and the other the JW Marriott. As many as 50 people were hurt, including many foreigners.

At least one attacker was a guest at the JW Marriott, police said.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has visited the scene and condemned “the cruel and inhuman attack”.

CNN is reporting that 40 people have been injured and 8 people dead in the coordinatd terrorist attack.

Police sealed off the area around both hotel blasts, one in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and the other at the J.W. Marriott Hotel, about 50 meters away. Djalal said the attacks were coordinated.

Forensics experts are collecting evidence at the “disturbing scene,” Djalal said. He said he had few details about the blasts, which occurred about 7:45 a.m. (8:45 p.m. Thursday ET) on Friday, Islam’s holy day.

What will Obama do? Nothing. Probably will apologize to the terrorists, saying something along the lines of: “I apologize for Americans being at the hotel. They should not have been at those hotels. I pledge to change the names of all American based hotels such as Ritz or Marriott because they are offensive and have been offensive for many many years. In fact, the government will become an entity in the hotel business like we are in every other industry in our country.”

      What will Obama do?

What kind of tortured logic must one employ in order to blame this on Obama? What do you suggest Obama do and how do you know he isn’t doing it? Weren’t there a few incidents of hotels in Indonesia getting bombed during Dubya’s tenure in office? What did he do after each of those? And what about the invasion of the hotel in Mumbai? What did “W” do about that?

#3, 11-27-2008; “The United States has also condemned the attacks. President Bush sent his condolences to the Indian people and the White House said the National Security Council was monitoring the situation.

President-elect Barack Obama said America must work with India and other nations to destroy terrorist networks.”

A State Department spokesman, Rob McInturff spoke to the BBC.

So, I hope Pres. Obama is working with India to destroy those terrorist networks.

Who is blaming Obama for this? I am just wondering what he will do.

Oh, unless he has done nothing about working with India and other nations to stop these terrorists networks then I guess it could be his fault.

So ask yourself, has his apologies to the terrorist put an end to the murders? I guess not.

you wankers can blame bush for everything but your looks, but when your idol is blamed, you all cry like little kids. by the way, where is the birth certificate ?
when my birth certificate is required, it has to be legally stamped with attending physician’s signature and the original.
so far we haven’t seen the illegal’s proof that he is a citizen, therefore he is committing treason against my country and should be treated accordingly.

Who is blaming Obama? I’m sure somehow it is Bush’s fault. After all he is the reason everyone hates us RIGHT?

    10. Susan on July 17th, 2009 6:39 pm

I, for one, am gonna BLAME Obama for everything damn thing that goes wrong on the face of this earth, JUST LIKE so many folks tried to blame Bush for every damn thing under the sun that went wrong, not only in our country as a whole, but for every damn thing that went WRONG IN THEIR FREAKIN’ LIFES!!

      Tis only fair…LOL!

#8, since I’m a “mentally challenged dipstick,” maybe you can explain a couple of things for me.

      (1) How is a terrorist bombing in Indonesia “all on” the President of the United States? Exactly what has Obama done since taking the oath of office that brought about a bombing on the opposite side of the world? Isn’t it just possible that the hatred and militancy that lead to this latest attack has been around a lot longer than Obama?

      (2) Are there really only two types of people in the world: those that agree with you, and idiots? Maybe we’re not the ones that are the idiots in this equation.

    12. Michelle Smith on July 17th, 2009 10:42 pm

#11 Who says this is Obama’s fault? We are asking what he’s gonna do about it? Is he going to condemn the act or apologize?

Seems that everything under the sun was blamed on Bush even on the other side of the world because he was the President when it happened and he’s the reason everybody hates us, that’s what I heard from the liberals for 8 years. Now that Obama is President he’s not responsible for anything, even things in his own country. GO FIGURE

    14. dotratc on July 18th, 2009 9:00 am

#12, #8 said this was Obama’s fault. (The same guy that called me an idiot and a mentally challeneged dipstick.) I thought it was clear that I was responding to his post.

It was also implied in the FP article that Obama was somehow to blame for the attacks.

    15. Tech on July 18th, 2009 10:19 am

These bombings seem to never stop. It needs to be solved once and for all to stop all these innocent people dying.

    16. Michelle Smith on July 18th, 2009 11:43 am

#14 I didn’t see anybody say this was Obama’s fault. I think you are reaching.

    17. Scared Monkeys on July 18th, 2009 1:30 pm

#14, this is not Obama’s fault, he has his ‘Overseas Contingency Operation’ in place.

However, since taking office I gurantee you Obama has a new found respect for what George W. Bush dod in the War on Terror, eventhough he will never admit it.

    18. dotratc on July 18th, 2009 7:51 pm

#17, then why did you insert his name into the article at all? Why not just report the bombings?
