Obama Back Peddling on Taxes … Press Corps Laughing at the Lameness of Gibbs Response & the Process

Barack Obama … Read my lips, no new middle class taxes.

The honeymoon is over. The press laughs at Press Secretary Gibbs lame attempt to duck their questions. Has the as the Obama House of Spin is starting to unravel. Barack Obama made a campaign promise that he would not tax anyone who makes less that $250. That promise all but got him elected a it was those mean rich people who were going to pay for everything in Obama’s redistribution of wealth program.

Looks like Obama is learning that a campaign promise and a smile does not make a President.

Check out Gibbs run in with the media and that campaign promise that Obama made.

“President on the campaign said that he made a flat pledge that he would not raise taxes on anybody making  over $250. So is that pledge still active?”

“Hypothetical? He Made a pledge. He said  I am not going to raise any taxes on anyone making under $250. Is that pledge still active?”

Gibbs responds, “We are going to let the process work its way through.”

WHAT?

No new taxes sounded like a good sound bite on the campaign trail; however, actually being President is a much different animal. Obama hammered John McCain during the campaign for having the audacity to tax the healthcare benefits of individuals to pay for his plan. Guess what, Obama is now open to the same.

Stop the ACLU reminds us about another past President who made a no new tax pledge. He did not get re-elected.

Everyone knows pledges to ‘never’ raise taxes are never true..it’s all the usual stuff? politicians say to get elected. Obama will raise taxes if he needs to, fair enough.

Of all the lame press secretaries I have seen, and there have been quite a few, this is the worst yet!!

The American public who voted President Obama voted for change and the fact that President Bush did not help the economy and had absolutely NO interest in the capture and/or dispatch of bin laden. That is just fact.

The result, however, is that it is now appearing that the person they elected seems to have sold the voters a slick bill of goods with promises and the audacity of hope that only those making 250,000 or more would be taxed with the vast majority of the American Public obtaining some form of relief. Smoke and Mirrors to make the voters look the other way.

The election won, President Obama may now shed himself of the slick marketing package that he presented himself in and join the ranks of tax and spend politicians where he seems to have made a niche.

It is quite funny, though, that the bailouts did not help the working poor or even middle class, but the millionaire suits who only knew(and know) how to bankrupt the company that they worked for.

I am waiting, as well, for the President to actively seek out and destroy bin laden as he eluded to when he was running for office.

The funny thing is that there had to be Republicans that voted for President Obama, just as there were Democrats who voted for President Reagan(remember the term “Reagan Democrats”?).

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately for the Replublicans, the administration is negelecting, or at least forgetting that the unemployment situation was a key(or at least huge) factor in the election.

Here the Republican party has a chance to make hay by presenting a comprehensive employment platform to the American public. this can be done by encouraging companies to build here by offering huge tax incentives for starters. Other offers can be presented if they care to gain popularity, and one of the best ways is to provide opportunities to put food on the table by giving the people a chance for gainful employment.

Great ground can be gained by picking up the ball that the Democrats are letting drop and running with it.

JOBS(which President Obama is cruelly neglecting)

ENERGY(less dependence on foreigners through alternative drilling as well as other forms)

FOCUS on justice for 9/11 friends and families victims(by capture or dispatch of bin laden)who has not forgotten their loved ones and never will.

      Three good places to start.

Ah Trevor, this wasn’t just a little promise that slipped out – this was a big part of the campaign especially after the “Joe the Plumber” episode. O didn’t just “say” he wouldn’t raise taxes, he INSISTED he wouldn’t raise taxes and that those making less than $200,000 would actually get a tax break!

You must not be a taxpayer if you believe it’s “fair enough” if O raises taxes (which of course he’s already done with the cigarette taxes). Between the new crap and traitor taxes and the coming health care taxes along with dumping Bush’s tax cuts, one might as well just give the government their paycheck and get back the change.

When I was a kid there was a cartoon about a little turtle boy who would go to this wizzard who would grant him one wish. The young turtle would always pick something bold like being a Knight or a President. It would not take long until the young boy turtle would get himself in so much trouble that the wizzard would have to end the fantasy and retrieve the young lad by saying something like Trissle Trassle Trussle Trumm Time for This Young Lad to Come Home.
To bad obongo dosent have a wizzard to bail him out.

LOL @ #1 … fair enough? HE LIED! He continues to lie and break promise after promise. The problem is the American people were mesmorized by the way he spoke not WHAT ABOUT he spoke. People were too blinded and too deaf to HEAR and LISTEN to what he was actually saying.

His extra $8 a day has not done anything.

His cap and trade bill is a hidden TAX on middle America as interest rates continue to climb and prices for goods and services will increase in places like Walmart; places that middle class Americans shop. It’s also a hidden TAX in the fact that it FACTUALLY increase your electricity bills.

This will also create a loss of MILLIONS of jobs and these business will be forced to outsource overseas or just plainly move their business out of the country; further hurting the economy.

His healthcare plan is going to tax your health benefits from your employer and DESTROY private insurance companies because they will not be able to compete with the public health insurance.

      It’s unreal…

    7. Scott on July 1st, 2009 9:07 am

St. stephen, you can’t say for FACT that GWB didn’t want to kill bin laden. THAT is just FALSE. Watch the CIA thing on Bin Laden on the history channel I think. You are dead wrong. Somehow he escaped our assault at Tora Bora. LUCK is all it was. GWB’s hands were tied once BL went to Pakistan.

      Please….

…fair enough, but the U-turn he made to Iraq while in pursuit of the demonic mastermind did nothing to enhance our chances of his capture/elimination. Nor can you deny his still close ties with the Saudi family.

I AM NOT a conspiracy theorist but we need to know who gave bin laden money and where he got it. It seems the Supreme court shut the door on that as well.

Sorry, Scott, we still need questions answered and justice to be served.

Nor did I care for the FACT that many Saudi family members were jetted out on 9/12(while WE could not fly at all!) without being asked certain questions. the friends and family members of 9/11 victims in my estimation are not being treated with the dignity that they deserve by this administration nor the previous one.

the bottom line is whether you are democrat ,republican, or whatever , our country is being raped and pillaged by the current administration.
and when the payback for all this stimulus money and tax hikes comes due, we are all in the same boat.
i’m at a loss to think that half of the citizens in this country actually bought these lies without even thinking of the ramifications or their children who will suffer for years after
      obama is gone.

Our nation is being judged by God. He is letting this happen because as a nation we have fallen away from HIM. I think things will get much worst. God will look out for His own.

If you are not a Christian believer please ask yourself “why not”? Open the bible up and start reading the new testament in the book of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. That is a start, you owe it to yourself to see if this stuff is the truth.

Your soul depends on it and where you will spend eternity, Heaven or Hell. YOU are responsible for your salvation. Its your choice. What will it be?

I am not a perfect person and do sin. We all are sinners, but I am a saved sinner and you can be too.

Ask yourself right now, if I died today what would happen to my soul and where would I be?
Our time is getting short, make the best of it and God Bless, thank you for reading this.

#9 you are a conspiracy theorist and thus I give you no creedence at all…if you can provide REAL PROOF (not left propoganda from MSNBC) of your last statement then I’ll apologize; otherwise you have no basis for this….I’m sure you think there is no way air planes could knock down buildings either, right? You believe our own government killed 3K of our own?

You are CRAZY partner.. A friend of mine, black, died in the Pentagon and I see his family from time to time and in their estimation, Bush was COMPASSIONATE, LOVING and his feelings were TRUE when they met him.

Say what you will about Bush, but the MAN stood on his morals and values and stood by what he believed. I believe he did what he thought was right for us and he stood by that. Yeah, he messed some things up but I admire him for his determination and his push to get the job done; which if you haven’t been paying attention, they are moving troops out of Iraqi cities, but let me guess, Obama did that right? Nope. That plan has been in effect and was part of the surge efforts.

What does Bush’s “alleged” ties to Saudi have to do with this argument? Besides, it was more his father than GWB himself and if you believe Stone’s W, then you would know they dont get a long all that well….

I’ll be willing to bet, HISTORY will judge Bush differently, not glowingly, but differently then people think.

I doubt Obama believes in anything but championing gay rights..

Bin Laden had money from the 80′s; he received money from the Taliban; he received money from sympathizers; i.e. Iraq, Syria… His family was drenched in wealth and don’t believe for a minute he wasn’t getting funds from family members…please…use common sense. And sure, maybe some insiders in the Saudi government…

There are a few reasons this move to Iraq was made and the most important one is the reason we’ve been seeing on TV the past few weeks, IRAN! Look at a map of the middle east and see where Iraq is…. Be blind all you want, but our govn’t, our voices on the ground (our special ops), knew this civil unrest, on top of wanting NUKES was building.

Live in the past all you want WHILE Obama spends your retirment, your kids savings and piles on debt to OUR children!

I posted that I am no conspiracy theorist. I stand on my statement.

I really do not care what you think I am(a conspiracy theorist? crazy? living in the past? uh, ok.) and I certainly need no apology from you. Unfortunately, there is too much qrm emanating from you to make any sense of and I do recognize that it was my mistake for even attempting to engage in a civil conversation with you.

It seems quite apparent that you seem confused by what is posted as you would rather revel in sophomoric name calling than seeking answers to questions that need answering.

I make no bones about calling them as I see them and I as well as many others want justice for 9/11 victims and their friends and family. If that is living in the past, I stand accused, quite proudly.

Thus I will leave you alone, sir, and give you leeway to hurl meaningless epithets at whomever you desire on this illustrious board.

Have a great day at any rate.

      PS
It is fair to say that Iran will not ever have the opportunity that North Korea has of building nuclear weapons, not in this lifetime. Should we not have the foresight to disallow that from happening, I may be assured that Israel has no reservations about taking care of the matters at hand for their survival. Of that they have no qualms.

On a Statewide basis: Today in MASS:

Taxes in Massachusetts are now the HIGHEST they have ever been in 2 DECADES!! That’s the absolute HIGHEST they’ve been in 20 years—even for “Taxachusetts”….and Gov. Patrick has announced that the anticipated HIKE and NEW INCREASE IN GAS TAX proposed Statewide is officially NOT even off the table yet!

Thanks Deval! Even in a traditionally DEM State—this SUCKS~! What an outrage! Yep, another lying Politician saying he will lower taxes to get voted into office then swiftly doing the EXACT opposite! PUHLEEZE! Obama is even worse….lies! lies! lies! More lies! More plans, stimuluses, programs, bailouts, bankruptcies, pork barrel spending, etc, etc. etc= all adds up to Middle-Class America once again picking up the tab for EVERYONE & EVERYTHING.

OUCH! It really hurts. Remember some of the lines in Oliver Twist, when he ran out of porridge and asked—”Please, Sir-May I have more??”

HeadMaster of Orphanage replies: “YOU WANT MORE?!?!?! MOOOOOOOOOOREEEEEEEE??”

Well, Hang on for a moment Folks, it’s coming!

Truthfulness is not a quality I would associate
with Obowma. He will say Anything that fits
his agenda, truth is not a factor. He is fully ‘outed’
now as a prevaricator. His minions have no compunction
to speak the truth either. In a Power Grab of these
proportions, spewing lies and distortions keeps the
victims (US) confused and swirling. Urgency is a Lie
as well. This entire administration cannot be trusted
to do what they say. So far, the only obvious beneficiary
of this mad spending flurry has been the Party in Power.

Canada is showing some signs of reason in permitting
private health care again. Obowma is showing signs
of idiocy in entertaining government administered
health care. “Those unaware of history are doomed to
      repeat it!”.

While we all can certainly take swipes at O, let’s not forget those who enable him – the news media and Congress. Both not only don’t call him out on his lies, but in addition, they too lie to us.

We like to think of ourselves as free people. But do free people allow elections to be stolen (like the one in MN)? Do free people get sold out by the representatives (such as the $3.5 billion given to Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur of Toledo for her vote for Crap and Trade? As free people, should we expect the bailout of a Hawaii bank mostly owned by a Senator? Shouldn’t free people expect that money coming back in from TRAP would actually pay down the TARP debt as we were told instead of being used by Barney Frank to house low-income people? That’s right, the Democrats now have a $750 billion slush fund! Shouldn’t free people expect a “Townhall meeting” to be freely available for anyone to attend, instead of being stacked with pre-chosen Obamanites? Should free people expect one national television network to hold its news casts at the Whitehouse pushing the President’s program without allowing the opposition a few moments? Free people would expect that their representatives actually represent them and that prior to passing a bill having an enormous effect on the economy, they might even read it!

When a Third World Country can identify, protest and report to the world that they believe that the democratic process was taken away from them while Americans sit back and do nothing when Congress does not object to passing bills that no one has read will other Countries identify America as having the bigger problem. Apathy is contagious. The reporters caught it during the election when they reported “Obama press releases” rather than go for the real questions.
Without integrity in reporting and social intercourse then we might as well send our checks into Obama signed and he will fill in the blank when his friends need more money. Because the only change you are going to see is in your pocket, and it jingles.

    23. katablog on July 2nd, 2009 9:54 am

How can there be integrity in reporting when O holds Townhalls where people are pre-screened and it’s known who O will call upon for questions?

How can there be integrity in reporting when one of the newspaper giants is selling access to O officials?
