Democratic Global Wariming Climate Bill … The Cap & Trade Tax to all Americans … Will Congress Bother to Read this One?

WHAT’S THE BIG HURRY?

Why do democrats want to tax all Americans during a recession? What is the big hurry? Why is the Pelosi gang so quick to pass Cap & Trade? Is it because if Americans actually woke up and understood what they were about to do they would rise up against the bill. Why does Pelosi et al want to pass a piece of legislation that would further damage our economy?

Who in their right mind would pass a “global warming” energy bill in the midst of a recession that would cost the average tax payer $175 a year per household? That is exactly what the Waxman-Markey bill does. Why does Nancy Pelosi have this bill on the fast track when there is questionable support and the document reads like “War & Peace” at 1201 pages.

Remember when the House passed the stimulus bill without reading the thousands of pages? Look where that got us.

But Democratic leaders in the House say they’ll push for a vote on the bill as early as Friday. They think they can pass it.This is an incredibly expensive undertaking. If anyone in Congress tells you that he has read and completely understands this bill, and can explain exactly how the system to reduce carbon emissions would work and what its effects would be, he’s lying. Democratic leaders need to slow down. This proposed legislation would affect every American individual and company for generations. There’s a huge amount of money at stake: $845 billion for the federal government in the first 10 years. Untold thousands of jobs created — or lost. This requires careful study, not a Springfield-style here’s-the-bill-let’s-vote rush job.

If Congress is supposed to do the work of the people, should they also not be obligated to read and fully understand the legislation that they are obligating “We the People” to? I guess that would just be common sense. Will they read this piece of legislation? I would say that any politician who does not read and understand a bill that they vote on is being derelict in their duty and should resign.

As stated at Powerline, With a vote scheduled to take place tomorrow, Nancy Pelosi thinks she has barely enough votes to pass one of the great follies in legislative history, the carbon tax.

Republicans point out that the Waxman-Markey bill would create a convoluted federal bureaucracy that would control key sectors of the economy and of our lives. Minority Leader John Boehner created this graphic, showing how the bill is intended to work.

The Democrats, not having read the bill, were unable to comment.

Q and O asks, Will Waxman-Markey Inspire A Trade War? That is if anyone reads that far to get to the paragraph. America best read the“Cap and Trade” fiction and find out exactly what their politicians are getting them into.

UPDATE I: House Democrats win key test vote on climate bill

WASHINGTON (AP) – House Democrats narrowly won a key test vote Friday on sweeping legislation to combat global warming and usher in a new era of cleaner energy. Republicans said the bill included “the largest tax increase in American history.”

The vote was 217-205 to advance the White House-backed legislation to the floor, and 30 Democrats defected, a reflection of the controversy the bill sparked.

In the middle of a recession, Democrats are about to tax everyone. Who do you think is going top bear the brunt of these increases … the consumer. As reported by the Gateway Pundit, this is a preliminary vote. Will Americans wake up and ring their Congressmen’s phones off the hook and fill their emails?

This “amounts to the largest tax increase in American history under the guise of climate change,” said Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind.

While the bill would impose a “cap-and-trade” system that would force higher energy costs, Republicans for weeks have branded it an energy tax on every American.

Democrats Vote for Higher Taxes and Energy Prices

By the way, the world’s biggest polluters, China and India, are not following suit. Only America will be reducing productivity and increasing business costs. All this during a recession where we are supposed to be stimulating the economy. Brilliant!

With the passage of a key test vote, House Democrats have effectively announced that they’re firmly on the side of higher taxes and higher energy costs for the American people.

During the campaign, the President stood in support of an energy plan that would “bankrupt” the coal industry.    He likewise admitted that his energy plan would “make electricity prices skyrocket.”  Apparently, there are some campaign pledges — besides closing Guantanamo — that he intends to keep.

It’s remarkable that a party that has long sought to identify itself with the “working person” would vote for legislation that will result in higher energy prices, higher taxes and lost jobs for regular people.  In the middle of a recession that’s showing no signs of abating, no less (according to erstwhile Obama supporter Warren Buffett).

UPDATE II: Waxman-Markey Cap-and-Trade Bill Vote

Waxman-Markey “crap”-and-trade bill (H.R. 2454) cleared the House

Please note the 8 Republicans who voted for this scam of a bill who should just cut to the chase and change parties right now.

As Karl notes below, Waxman-Markey passed the House this evening. The vote was 219-212.

There were 168 Republicans and 44 Democrats who voted No, and 8 Republicans who voted Yes: Reps. Mary Bono Mack (CA), Mike Castle (DE), Steven Kirk (IL), John McHugh (NY), Leonard Lance (NJ), Frank LoBiondo (NJ), Dave Reichert (WA), and Chris Smith (NJ).

Let’s hope that Oklohoma Senator Inhofe is correct:

In an interview, Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) was confident the bill would die in the Senate.

“It doesn’t matter, because we’ll kill it in the Senate anyway.”

The Gateway Pundit has the VIDEO of Rep. Tom Price who asked for a moment of silence for the millions of Americans who will lose their jobs by passing this legislation.

It is terrible that attempts are being
made to completely Tax and Spend
the People into total submission to
it’s Government. The rate at which
      these coordinated moves are being
      implemented is totally unreasonable.
      Once domesticated and corralled,
the new “Cattle” will have a very difficult
if not impossible time trying to extricate
themselves and their futures from this
ultimate act of submission. Cap and
Trade is simply another license to steal
the productive life’s blood of production
      in America.

Complacency on the part of the populace
is a guarantee of the Rug of Freedom being
      yanked from under foot.

Cap and Tax = taxpayer support for rich traders that will make money on taxpayers. Where is the competition for the trading scheme? Can companies buy credits to operate from countries that print them like fiat currency? It seems like there’s room for improvement without sending more jobs overseas and digging deeper in taxpayer pockets.

Thus far the only ones who have benefited from this administration are the suits who received 7 figure bonuses for bankrupting their respective companies.
No jobs have been created for those that need them and no comprehensive, sane health plan has come forth either, just bailouts for companies and institutions that should have folded and left their incapable suits out in the cold. Great work, indeed.

Now with this bill, even more companies will flee to foreign shores rather than pay exorbitant prices for energy, leaving even more workers out of a job. Smart.

      REPUBLICANS
      - Stop crying about minutiae and start thinking of a solid platform that Americans can actually grasp and care enough to vote for the candidate(s) presenting them. This is a golden opportunity and should start now so when 2012 rolls along it will be embedded in the intellect of the voting public.

[...] can also thank the Democrats who overwhelmingly voted to raise taxes on all Americans in the midst of a recession and rush legislation [...]

      rush legislation…

…That, in essence, is the Chicago way of passing bills and contracts. Mayor Daley did that when he sold the parking meter rights and the Aldermen did not even read the contract. And nowe he is attempting the same with the 2016 Olympics.

Apparently, President Obama learned much from his stay in the Windy City. Treating us like chumbalones of the nation instead of just the city.
