Farrah Fawcett has sadly but mercifully passed away.

1970’s “It Girl” icon, Farah Fawcett has passed away after her long and brave battle with cancer. A piece of my childhood died today with Farah Fawcett’s passing. Farah got her fame as the blond haired beauty on Charlie’s Angels in the 1970’s. She was the sexy Angel. Recently, she became known to many in her later years for her determination to fight cancer and a symbol of the will to survive through her years-long battle with cancer,

“After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away,” Fawcett’s longtime romantic partner Ryan O’Neal said in a statement released by Fawcett’s publicist, Paul Bloch. “Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world.”

Farrah Fawcett’s ‘Burning Bed’ gave domestic abuse another face

Farah Fawcett died this morning at 9:28 a.m. PST on Thursday at St. John’s Heath Center in Santa Monica, CA at the age of 62.

“She’s gone. She now belongs to the ages,” O’Neal tells PEOPLE, also confirming that she received the last rites of the Catholic Church. “She’s now with her mother and sister and her God. I loved her with all my heart. I will miss her so very, very much. She was in and out of consciousness. I talked to her all through the night. I told her how very much I loved her. She’s in a better place now.”

   My heart is saddened by the news yet I experience a bittersweet feeling as I feel that she is in a better place.

   Jaclyn Smith said it best today,

   “One of Charlies Angels is with the real Angels today”….

   This is sad, she was an Icon of the late 70′s and a very sweet lady it seemed.

   I will miss you, Farrah, and all that Charlie’s Angels stood for, you can beautiful, smart, and strong all in one package. I will miss the time in my life all those shows represented for me.

   Charlies Angels was one of my favorite shows of that time period. She will be missed.

   I knew the time was coming. I knew it was near. Farrah your my Hero in so many ways. Forever now you will live without pain and never have to have a Doc poke you, prod you, tell you ” Your going to be Fine” .. tell you it’s not so bad. No longer will you have to “buck up” while the pain turns you inside out..no longer will you have to look at a pill bottle and think ..should I continue to take these that make me feel so damned awful – yet are to save my life.
   For my Ms. Farrah you are now a real Angel and from time to time – I DO expect you to dip your wings from heaven ..into the Rain.
