Caylee Anthony Doll Sales Suspended by Jaime Salcedo & Showbiz Promotions … Fire storm Reaction to Profiting from a Murdered Child

As initially reported HERE, the despicable sale of Caylee Anthony “You are my Sunshine” dolls  by Jaime Salcedo and Showbiz Promotions has been suspended. It just goes to show you that you can make a difference and some things in life are just plain wrong.

The idea that one would market a doll that is supposed to represent a murdered two year old child defies all human decency. It appears that the fire storm reaction has caused Jaime Salcedo and Showbiz Promotions the realization that maybe its not a good thing to make money off a murdered child.

Caylee_Doll_Suspended

Jaime Salcedo, president of Showbiz Promotions at the exploitive Caylee doll web site tried to offer up an explanation.

It was our intention to begin the sale of the Sunshine Caylee Doll at 12:00pm January 27, 2009. As we mentioned to the media in our press release it was very important that we allow the press to present our idea to the public first, in an effort to measure the reaction to our fund raising efforts. As the story developed we also announced that we would be donating 100% of the profits to charity. However, after reviewing the response to our media introduction of the Sunshine Caylee Doll and listening to the advice of the general public. We feel that is it best to suspend the launch of The Sunshine Caylee Doll.

What it should say is … [OK, you caught us. It was our intention to make an exploitive buck off a saturated news story. We thought by offering a ridiculous 10% of profits to a charity which we never named would con people into buying this reprehensible doll.  As the firestorm went on when news got out of us making money off a murdered 2 year old child we offered 100% of profits go to charity so to stop the negative phone calls and hate emails. Since even that did not stop the calls to our office and the one most notably from the Anthony’s attorney we decided to stop this terrible idea and look for a less public exploitive product to market.]

The reaction to Jaime Salcedo and Showbiz Promotions might be a shot across the bow to all those who intend to try and profit from the death of Caylee Anthony. That message is to strangers as well as the Anthony family. The Anthony family expressed anger over the doll; however, that has not stopped them from cashing in on Caylee’s first disappearance and death. Sadly, it has been reported that over $200,000 has been made off of Caylee’s pictures to the media.

NIKKI PIERCE, WDBO: She would have money. But we cannot confirm or deny that there`s any kind of book deal, any kind of entertainment deal. Jose Baez came out and blasted the media. Certain media here in town was reporting that he did have that type of deal.

GRACE: Oh! Oh, wait a minute! Wait a minute! Because we already know $200,000-plus has changed hands for photos and video of little Caylee. So who`s to say that more money hasn`t changed hands?

Can someone please let Caylee Anthony have some respect.

What about the Sasha and Malia dolls? I understand that the Caylee doll is making profit off a dead child and the President’s children are living, but its the $$$ no matter how you look at it. Both are terrible.

I’m so glad that this doll was stopped! It is bad timing, by greedy people and why would they do this? Caylee trademark goes to whom? JB???

      Caylee’s hair is NOT blond.

glad the Caylee doll got nixed. What were they thinking. As far as the President’s daughters doll – I actually thought it was a cute idea but of course since the profits didn’t go to the big O, they wouldn’t like it.

On Jane Velez-Mitchell’s show tonight, the “Caylee Sunshine” doll was singing “You are my sunshine”. Listening to this doll sing Caylee’s favorite song was SPOOKY!!

Thank God the sell of this morbid, disgusting, disrepectful doll was “suspended”. Let’s hope the suspension is not lifted :-)

      JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE :-)

What a lowlife idea! Here’s an alternative.

Make a Casey doll. Every time you poke
her in the belly button she’ll spread her
legs wide open and say: “Zanny made me do it.”

At least that would provide a little comedic relief
and Lee Anthony would have something to play with!

      Hi all,
Now for the rest of the story–As The Stomach Turns–this case has gotten so ‘out there’ it isn’t funny so I shall entitle tonites post a few pages from:”The Telltale Heart” By Edgar Allen Poe

Several points I wish to address–
A- As in the Telltale Heart the pounding of the heart of precious Caylee could be heard by dear ol grandpa george,as he prepared to ‘fake a suicide’.The whole sick suicide hoax brings into focus how he has moved some of the suspicion and guilt from casey, cindy and lee to himself.Notice how he sent text messages to the ‘family’ so they could be traced–no evidence here of serious suicide–had he been ‘that torn up over Caylee’ he would have pulled this stunt before now–’he ‘lost it’ over picking our jewerly for Caylee’s ‘body’?? Excuse me those tiny bones are hardly a body–or was it because they want to ‘sell the photos of the bones and this would surley hinder such’.BTW read here yesterday–did cindy sell gramps suicide note the day after he went to hospital? The color green realy appeals to those sickos.

B-The doll please–how sick and twisted can society get? You know Caylee is in so many levels much better off from the sharks she lived with–no doubt had she survived till say 10 she would have been pimped out to highest bidder–with those sickos she really didn’t stand a chance.

C- So poor gramps can’t get a job–in what was that–security?? Come on now–who in their right mind would hire him–he couldn’t and didn’t ‘secure or protect his own flesh and blood–our sunshine Caylee’ how would anyone else be different? He’d probaly come to work with his duct tape and garbage bags to ‘be prepared’.

There will be justice for Caylee and all those angels who have been dumped like garbage.
Monkeys stay close on this case–as time comes closer to trial we will all be watching.May baby Grace’ from Texas get justice as well.
Putting this edition of ‘Telltale Heart’ and ‘As The Stomach Turns’ to rest–nite all.

I suggest they bag the doll business

and start a law practice ;)

    18. Richard on January 27th, 2009 10:18 pm

I truly wouldn’t put it past someone who would do this in the first place to be trying to use the media to increase interest in his ‘product.’

He didn’t say he’s giving up on the idea, but that he’s suspending the ‘launch.’ Could it be that he’s going to try to generate publicity, on the idea that the angrier people are, the more attention he will get … possibly boosting sales?

Whatever these scum do, let’s hope that people won’t take part. As I said in a previous post, his local papers should put his photo on page one, so people will know who to spit on in public.

Meanwhile, more sickness makes itself manifest:

Jurors weep at details of ‘Baby Grace’ torture
      Associated Press

GALVESTON, Texas – Jurors wept Tuesday watching a woman describe how teaching her 2-year-old daughter proper manners turned into a daylong torture session in which the toddler was beaten with belts, dunked in cold water and flung across a room so violently that she died.

Kimberly Trenor, 20, detailed the abuse in a videotaped statement played for jurors during the first day of her capital murder trial.

Trenor, 20, told investigators in the statement that she hit her daughter with a thick leather belt to teach her to say “please” and “yes, sir.”

The little victim was dubbed “Baby Grace” by investigators who worked to identify her decomposed remains after the body was found in a plastic container in October 2007 on a tiny island in Galveston Bay.

Trenor’s 25-year-old husband, Royce Zeigler II, is to be tried separately on murder charges. His attorney argues that Trenor is responsible for the child’s death.

But Trenor insisted it was her husband who became so enraged when the toddler didn’t behave better that he hurled her several times across a room, ultimately fracturing her skull and killing her.

“I said we have to get her to a hospital. (Zeigler) said, ‘No we can’t. We’ll go to jail,’” Trenor said in the videotape, crying. “There came a point where she stopped breathing. He started doing CPR on the floor. He took her … and handed her over to me. I could just feel her going cold.”

At the defense table, Trenor’s eyes teared up as she watched the videotape on a large screen. Several jurors wiped away tears.

Riley Ann Sawyers tried to stop her mother and stepfather from beating her to death by reaching out to her mother and saying, “I love you,” assistant district attorney Kayla Allen told jurors earlier in the day during her opening statement.

The toddler’s pleas didn’t stop her mother from brutalizing her, the prosecutor said.

Allen said that on July 25, 2007, Trenor and Zeigler disciplined Riley by whipping her with a belt, pushing her head against a pillow and holding her head under water. She said Zeigler tossed Riley across the room, fracturing her skull. An autopsy concluded the fractures caused her death.

Allen said the adults did nothing to help even as Riley lay dying.

Instead, the couple bought a plastic container, stuffed Riley’s body inside and stored it in a shed for a month or two before setting it out to sea, the prosecutor said.

Defense attorney Tommy Stickler Jr. told the jury that Trenor never intended to kill her daughter and that things just “spun out of control.”

Stickler portrayed Trenor as a scared 19-year-old girl who had moved to Texas from Ohio to marry a man she met while playing an online game. She said Riley’s father, her former boyfriend, had assaulted her and Zeigler was her “knight in shining armor.”

“I don’t want to use the word accident, but this wasn’t something that was intentional,” Stickler said.

Trenor could receive an automatic sentence of life in prison without parole if convicted of capital murder. The jury could also convict her of a lesser charge.

Prosecutors declined to seek the death penalty because they didn’t think they could prove that either one would be a future danger, as required.

      (end of article)

Read, and re-read, that last paragraph. In my eyes, the death penalty is the only one fit.

#16-D. Schmier—I was starting to feel a tad bit queasy after reading the doll topic last evening–so after signing on this evening…glad to hear suspended.

I just have to say though, feeling much better overall after reading your entire post.

Thank you very much for that.

They are still selling the bracelets, tshirts and stickers…which I find very moribid since the heart shaped sticker story came out!
Anyhow, nowhere does it say that they are donating any of the money from the sale of these items to charity.
So in essence they are still trying to make money off of Calee’s death.
The fight is not over yet, email them and tell them what scum buckets they still are!

They have started selling the Caylee doll again but they are calling it different names but still referencing Caylee in the sell of the doll.
      Lowlife scum asshole!
Someone needs to do something to stop these people.
I have emailed them twice complaining is there anything that can be done!?!

      Margo:

Yeah, I heard they are still selling t-shirts, bracelets and the like. One can’t help but wonder: If the Anthony’s weren’t acting like money hungry leeches, would these low-life’s crawling out of the woodwork? Truly, odd.

      .

Where is justice? We know it’s not going to come easily from the Anthony’s because their kids are involved. The state of Florida is allowing Baez to give them a black eye. I don’t know what happened in court today, but just the fact that he would try to get the attorneys thrown off the case is extraordinary. I’ve never heard of such a thing…
