Remembering Pearl Harbor … December 7, 1941 … Thank You to the Greatest Generation

DO NOT EVER FORGET PEARL HARBOR AND ALL THOSE LOST ON THAT FATEFUL DAY

Pearl harbor

Take time today to remember December 7, 1941 … a date that will live in infamy. For if we do not remember the past we are destine to repeat history. World War II veterans and others observers will commemorate the 67th anniversary of the devastating and infamous Japanese military raid on Pearl Harbor. The theme of the event  is “Pacific War Memories: The Heroic Response to Pearl Harbor.”

Please take time to thank the brave men and women of our countries “Greatest Generation”, as sadly due to death and disability we are losing them every day. So many sacrificed and gave their lives against the evils of their day so that we could be free today. Always remember, FREEDOM is never free. To those that made the greatest sacrifice thank you and you are always in our prayers.

Go to the Volokh Conspiracy to see a fantastic remembrance of Pearl Harbor as they visited Hawaii to celebrate their own anniversary.

I write this as I look out my 29th floor hotel room in the direction of Pearl Harbor. My wife and I came to Oahu, Hawaii to celebrate our 29th anniversary on December 2nd. Although it is a coincidence that we are still here on December 7th, it still feels eerie.

Some of the “Greatest Generation” below reuniting for Pearl Harbor ceremonies.

December 7, 1941, a date that will live in infamy from President FDR’s address on December 8, 1941.

Yesterday, December 7, 1941 – a date which will live in infamy – the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.

The United States was at peace with that nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its Government and its Emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific. Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in Oahu, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to the Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. While this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or armed attack.

It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time the Japanese Government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.

The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. Very many American lives have been lost. In addition American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.

Yesterday the Japanese Government also launched an attack against Malaya. Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong. Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam. Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands. Last night the Japanese attacked Wake Island. This morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.

Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our nation.

As Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Navy, I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.

Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us. No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.

I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.

Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger.

With confidence in our armed forces – with the unbounded determination of our people – we will gain the inevitable triumph – so help us God.

I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December seventh, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire.”

This attack immediately galvanized sentiment across the nation. God only knows what would happen today: half of the media would be promoting ridiculous conspiracy theories of the ‘blame us’ variety. And the opinions of Hollywood TV and movie actors would be regarded as divinely inspired.

I would like to take a moment to honor all of our veterans and their families for their sacrifice and service. Thank you all.

I would like to say a special thank you to my late father, who flew many missions as a radio-gunner in the back of an SB-2C “Helldiver”, stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Shangri-La in the South Pacific, WWII.

      Anchors Away, Dad.

Maybe this is not the right day and the right topic to say this but there may be bits of truth in some conspiracy theories. With the emphasis on ‘bits’ and ‘some’…

EU Robert, I agree that there are indeed conspiracies, just as (to quote the cliche) even paranoids have enemies. We have been seeing one in the Caribbean….

On this day, and every day, we remember and thank those in the military who sacrifice and have sacrificed themselves for our country and our freedom.

      May God bless them all.

Truth is the US had full knowledge of the attack PRIOR to the attack and let those men die. The Powers-that-be needed an excuse to enter WWII. Truth is the world was FAR LESS free after WWII than before.
      __________-
SM: Leave it to “bob” to have a conspiracy theory for Pearl Harbor. 9-11 too I guess as well?

Can’t you just honor the fallen? Heros who sacrifice so that you can dream up conspiracy theories.

      God bless them all!!!

      God bless America!!

The price of our Freedom is never really free.

Thank you to the greatest Generation and to all members of our US Armed Forces who protect & defend us with honor.

I’m a day late, but would like to add my thanks. My father was stationed at Pearl Harbor, was there on Dec. 7th. He was pretty mum about his WWII experiences except to say that when he ran out of Scofield Barracks, the Japanese planes were so low, he could see the faces of the pilots. His brother, who was in the Navy, was also there. They found each other after the attack. Dad did not live long enough, or we would have sought out the Pearl Harbor survivors group. In Memory of Dad & his brother, Robert.

God bless them all. The only conspiracy was the Japenese navys’ and emporers’ plans to conquer the world.

Yes, then we would elect a Japenese born-rushed to Hawaii to forge a US live birth, to the presidency.

#4, EURobert, The only “false flag” operation involving the US in that article was nixed by JFK.

Look, anybody can make a case for a conspiricy with a bunch of what if’s, but when all the pieces are put together things don’t add up.

The Japenese Navy was in the Pacific doing a lot of the things in that false flag article you posted. Do you think that the US Navy might have thought that the Japenese where up to
something else? It is a huge area and they didn’t have the technology we have now. All you got to go on now is a few I told you so’s from people with the benifiet of hindsight.

I have read a lot of stuff about the 9-11 conpiracies and they all seem to go a long way around to make their case.

“Building 7 is going to blow!” is the pivitol evidence to concrete this theory? Do you think that it might have just been a reaction by a firefighter after seeing the WTC blow up.

You think in a time of urgency that someone should have just said “Get out of building number seven and evacuate the area because the fallen tower debris has weakened the structure of building number seven and it is beginning to collapse!” Or would it have been more expediante to say it is about to blow to make the point?

    16. bob on December 9th, 2008 9:31 am

      SM,

Fact is that we are now on the brink of one-world government to be ruled from Israel by anti-Christ. God said it would happen and it has. Surely you don’t think the fruits of WWII, namely, the UN, a divided Europe, and the creation of Israel, all occured by accident.
