What you say I agree to: she made a fool of herself. Maybe not so much for going to him and doing the interview. But more for the fact that the interview is already so old and she (and her crew) waited for airing it… and then decided to air it this week. Without any real investigation as if it was real. Mainly trying to put it out as real (for the ratings I would guess).

I do not doubt her intentional good intentions. But now the effect is that she tried to make a fool of her audience, by putting an interview out that is so obviously of Joran talking to himself pretending to be his father (look at the accent of his father and the words used by the older or younger generation, if you speak dutch this is easier to understand, I know… but for sure Greta could find somebody, maybe even Peter R de Vries, to ask if it would be real or a fake). But NO! She even finds it worthy enough to put Beth in front of the camera. And even Beth could be more critical to the tape (how much did Beth get for the interview?).
      _____________
SM: Beth got nothing for the interview. Greta paid JVDS thru a licensing agreement. Shows do not pay for just interviews. What is she supposed to say? From what it appears, Greta gave her no heads up as to content.

I think it’s worth pointing out here that Ms. von Susteren has not said that Joran’s tale must be true. In her comments, she acknowledged that the whole thing could be a “wild goose chase.”

She did, however, wonder why Aruba refused to meet with her or to take any steps at all to review the comments and other evidence. (I gather that more will be coming out on Monday.)

Similarly, she said in her dialogue with Joe Tacopina that she would be willing to state that the tape was a fake if it could be so proven. But she wanted to have a sample of PvdScum’s voice to play against it.

That still hasn’t been done, to the best of my knowledge. Nor has Aruba shown any signs of willingness to follow up on what was presented.

Of course, Joran’s tale can’t be true, in whole or in part … because people have made up their minds to the contrary.

Besides, after the show was broadcast, he issued a denial. As was done with the van der Eem tapes.

And if you can’t believe Joran van der Sloot, who can you believe?

At the end pf the year it’s all over.
      It’s the way it is.

With a little effort she could’ve gotten that sample very easilly. VdSLUT sr was with wife and Joran on the dutch show Paul&Witteman in january or february of this year. She could’ve noticed immediately it was not him. And since it is an old interview: she had plenty of time to investigate.

    5. Richard on November 27th, 2008 9:54 pm

Are you saying that Fox News are the investigators?
Aruba wouldn’t take anything that they gave as official … isn’t it the DUTY of Aruba to investigate this? Isn’t it the DUTY of Aruba to meet with anyone who has, or claims to have, new evidence in what is the biggest case Aruba has seen?

But no, not them … they won’t work weekends. Of course, there’s no reason to look on this with any suspicion … they’re too busy eating Frosted Flakes to do their job.

And when someone comes up with something for them to look into … they shake their heads and eat more Frosted Flakes.

By the way, wasn’t there, on this forum not so long ago, a comment from Jossy Mansur to the effect that in the early morning of Natalee’s disappearance, someone in the police force gave orders that a boat would be allowed to leave Aruba with no questions asked?

Of course, this is a myth, because Gerald Dompig told us before that no boat left Aruba, and we could be sure of this because the Aruban radar system would have picked this up.

So who are you going to believe, Gerald Dompig or Jossy Mansur? True, it later came out that the radar system wasn’t even working at the time … but what difference do such details make?

While I’m going on, we are told that “they” in the Netherlands said the tape didn’t sound like PvdScum. Well, okay … I remember the days on this forum when people were up in arms when the Dutch said the bloody mattress was really covered with dog’s blood, that the blood in Deepak’s car (as announced by Nelson Oduber) was really something else, and that the duct tape with blond hair attached to it found by the side of the ocean wasn’t tied to Natalee, as had been thought.

(In fairness, the FBI confirmed the latter.)

But now “they” in the Netherlands say that the voice on the tape was not PvdS … because it didn’t sound like him to their ears.

Got to hand it to the eponymous “they” in Holland … never without a reason to defuse a lead.

    6. Richard on November 27th, 2008 10:00 pm

I do understand what poster #4 is talking about, though … really, this isn’t about Natalee Holloway, this is about the media that cover her disappearance.

Let’s shoot the messenger rather than focus on the Aruban cover-up and possible reasons for it.

Soon, I guess, we’ll be told that Greta von Susteren and Beth Holloway conspired against Aruba … Natalee Holloway never went there, but they have a grudge against Aruba.

Seems that’s the direction in which we’re heading.
At least, some of the trolls wish that it were.

    7. Richard on November 27th, 2008 10:03 pm

I also understand that there will be another Fox News story on Monday. However, since some people on this blog have already convinced themselves that the whole thing is a hoax, there is no need to do anything old-fashioned, such as keep an open mind until we hear the whole story.

    8. Dolf on November 28th, 2008 2:17 am

I think Greta was totaly owned by that laywer.

bs reporting, typical of the media these days

    9. Scarrlett on November 28th, 2008 5:12 am

If Greta had evidence she should of given to the FBI or hopped a flight to Aruba and handed it personally to police with cameras and FBI at hand.

By doing it the way she did leaves it open to be buffed.

Lets go out on a Limb here and suppose its true…Maybe thats why noone has ever found anything to say Nat died….WHAT IF she was SOLD???? Early on I had a dream she was gagged and bound in a trunk…the night we lwarned she was missing…she was crying…now what if he was finally telling what HAPPENED….how GOD AWFUL would it be not to follow up???ARE WE SO SURE SHE DIED?????

#6 and #7 Richard, you are very correct in that this is all about the coverup. The coverup started with disposal of Natalee’s body and Paulus was in on it all the way. Aruban officials refused to talk to people who knew something very early in the investigation. They never wanted to prosecute or solve this case. When the news media showed up in 28 private jet airplanes, the old ” oh shit ” factor came in and they changed Joran’s story and covered up more. They flipped Julia,Claudio and Charles Croes from being helpful to Beth to being very unhelpful. However, there are a couple of people down there who want to talk but are still afraid to say anything. They will eventually tell all and when they do, some heads in Aruba and Holland will roll. There is a house of cards down there like one of the xFBI men said. It will fall, so any pressure on them is good, pressure from anywhere. Actually, Joran is helpful with his many lies. Aruba helped make him what he is, a man without principles. Joran will never be totally free until the case is solved and we have Natalee’s remains.

    12. deetch on November 28th, 2008 9:18 am

The hoax is how Aruba had “evidence” of murder when the guards were arrested and then when it was van der sloot under suspicion it was a disappearance.

What “evidence” for an island that claims no body,no crime, did they have in the beginning?

They arrested the guards on the word of Joran van der sloot. Now they call him a liar to protect themselves, they had Natalee and then they didn’t.

Greta’s interview was fantastic. It leaves more people with Aruba/traffficking/ selling blondes into slavery. I like that.

Aruba needs to prove how they know Natalee is dead?

    13. Vicki on November 28th, 2008 9:40 am

#12-Deetch- you are so right…Im glad GRETA did this..it still puts LIERUBA under the gun and FORCES ppl to see that there is a COVERUP…they KNEW NAT was dead when it was the GUARDS…but when Beth proved the guards were innocent and URINE was the last known person with her than she was just MISSING….I truely HATE the fact that this is such a GAME for those ANIMALS involved…Once again..GOD does not like UGLY and he WILL MAKE THEM PAY…WHAT AN EVIL PERSON URINE IS AND HE SOOOOOOOO HATES HIMSELF…

    14. gary on November 28th, 2008 11:35 am

Just maybe, being known all over the world as the killer of Natalee, is eating him from the inside out, this kid like all other killers, has finely started showing signs of a conscience, the only problem is that he cannot tell the true story, because his family is involved, plus all his friends, and the gruesome thing his father did to Natalee’s dead body, plus where they put her body.
now lets start with another person from another country, like Venezuela. now get Greta and set the stage, in 6mos.,the man that took Natalee will call jvds and tell him where Natalee’s was put.
now jvds will want a deal with Hans Mos, like probation, and he will tell them the location of her body, that the man from Venezuela has told him. also don’t forget Beth and Dave would love to have her body home.
and the case will remain unsolved?
      Stay Tune..

Well, the only reason I could think of that I would say that the voice and vocabulary of the so called other person on the tape with Joran is NOT his dad… is that it ACTUALLY does NOT sound like his dad (including the choice of words). No other reason.

Or would your reason be that you are so open to it being his dad, that you’re american?

    16. Lisa in Maryland on November 28th, 2008 2:06 pm

      Clouseau,

We don’t have to wait to the end of the year for it to be over. As far as the Aruban authorities are concerned it’s already over and nothing short of finding Natalee’s body is going to change that.

It is a great injustice to the world that a little Sociopathic Punk like JVS goes free after admitting he killed her and dumped her body or sold her into slavery.

The authorities aren’t going to investigate – they already know the truth so what is the point.

Joran will never be tried for this case here on earth at least and there will never be justice for Natalee here on earth at least.

As much as all of us would like to see what is right and what is true – it just doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen.

    17. dotratc on November 28th, 2008 2:46 pm

For the record, “Aruba” did not refuse to meet with Greta to discuss/analyze the contents of the interview that she conducted with Joran van der Sloot seven months ago. Hans Mos requested that Greta send him the contents of the interview along with all of the physical evidence that Joran turned over to her. Greta refused. Instead, she insisted that Mos meet her in the United States to arrange a turn-over. But, of course, Greta couldn’t schedule said meeting until after the U.S. Presidential elections.

So Mos agreed to meet her in Miami on the Monday following the elections. At first Greta agreed to the date, but, at the last minute, Greta canceled so she could go to Alaska to do a story on Governor Palin.

So what have we learned? We have learned that Joran van der Sloot is a self-centered, amoral sociopath. (Actually, I think we already knew that.) We also learned that Greta is a shameless media whore. (Some of us already knew that, too.)

But, tragically, we have not learned anything more about what happened to Natalee.

We don’t have to wait to the end of the year for it to be over. As far as the Aruban authorities are concerned it’s already over

      ………….

It’s been over since June 2005 in Aruba.. When a guy goes out on a consensual date…and the girl is missing the next morning..first instinct of anyone would be to cooperate, tell the truth and tell where she was at..HELP OUT. ALL 3 chose to do the exact opposite from the start.. even allowing 2 innocent men to sit in jail for days for murder and kidnapping. They did anything and everything to throw things off, refuse to cooperate, and try to obstruct. As deepak said..when he lied the first day, it was to throw off an investigation, however there was no public knowledge to anyone that Natalee was missing at the time. BIG RED FLAG! Not sure why some are so willing to give the Kalpoes a pass.. Mos is backing them? They were just as bad at making up lies and obstructing.. Why were they cleaning their car before daylight? It was deepak who said they have all been in the same room having sex with tourists. He also said Joran raped her, and Joran said deepak raped and killed her. The whole defense of the case was to lie and obstruct from the start.. There was a reason Paulus lead everyone away from his home that night for over an hour on a goose chase..and Jug said…Deepak and Joran were not dressed to be in a casino and they looked dirty. Deepaks care at the Sloots when he said he was at work then a casino.. Jacobs asking the Kalpoes about the fisherman’s huts over a week before they even told the story of the fisherman’s huts. Round up Straten, Jabobs and Dompig for a lie detector test. Cover up, corruption…

Human trafficking is a big problem in the world.. but as for American girls on the island of Aruba.. I haven’t seen any missing other than the one who was in the company of a sociopath and liars.. and guys who were engaged in sex with many in one room, who framed 2 innocent men for kidnapping and murder. Joran having 3 allegations of rape.. a temper and was treated before. Paulus looking up drugs, alcohol and the effects on young people and lawyers. They are cheering on the Kalpoes in hopes they win big money and share it? Just like I don’t for one minute believe that Jamie Skeeters who had a great record would alter tapes…

Keeping Natalee’s name in the news is important.. Watching Joran’s body language and his answers were so far fetched at times. I can see why Greta didn’t want the prosecutor to have this info before everyone seen it.. it would just disappear. I think it was a waste of time though. It appears Joran needed money.

Aruba’s whole..idea all along was to drag this out and make it go away. Was never about solving it. Any kind of cop would have investigated long ago to see if Paulus was paying anyone off by checking his banking records. Who knows where all these people hide their money and under what names.

This story is so horrific… I still can not understand why anyone would let their children go. There is no justice in Aruba..

    19. Maggie on November 28th, 2008 3:08 pm

As for Steve Cohen… remember when he told everyone the boys were going to be brought back in to be questioned on Christmas break and they were making up the questions to ask..and then when the time came said they can’t question them, part of the rules. His campaign of misinformation.. and to protect Aruba’s tourism is alive and well..

Aruban authorities believe they are close to making a breakthrough in the case of missing American teenager Natalee Holloway.
Spokesman for the Aruban government, former CBS journalist Steve Cohen, is predicting a closure to the case in the next six months.

He says investigators are focusing on proving the case against three young men who had been held as suspects, and who are known to have interacted with the US student.

Mr Cohen expects one or all three suspects – Dutch national Joran van der Sloot and Surinamese brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe – to be charged for rape and murder.

      Steve Cohen
      CARIBBEAN VOICE
      January 28, 2006

Aruba stays afloat through Natalie Holloway’s investigation
      By Hazel Heyer

“Anything DNA that is identified to be of Natalee’s will allow us to bring a strong case forward against the three boys. We are also getting to finally talk to some of the Alabama teens who left on that plane and did not wait around for interrogation,” said Cohen.
Aruba believes it is most important to get a hold of her mental state and most importantly, Natalee’s physical state at the time of disappearance. “Two of the boys said they had consensual sex with her. Whether consensual or not, depends on her ability to be conscious and make a choice.” said Cohen.

      CNN Hans Mos

However, judges ruled that the new evidence — which included a May 30, 2005, Internet chat that showed one of the three saying Holloway was dead — was not enough to keep the suspects behind bars.

That chat, along with others, was obtained using technology that was not available to authorities in 2005, Aruban prosecutor Hans Mos told CNN in December. Other evidence against the three included two new witness statements.

One was from a female friend who said a suspect called her about five hours after Holloway was last seen leaving an Oranjestad, Aruba, nightclub with Van der Sloot and the Kalpoes. The female friend said that she could tell during the conversation that something was wrong, Mos said. He did not elaborate or name the friend.

The second witness statement came from a teacher who said that another one of the suspects exhibited “very peculiar behavior” the day after Holloway’s disappearance, including making or receiving a lot of telephone calls, Mos said.

A fourth piece of evidence came when authorities bugged the Kalpoe home in June and picked up a conversation about what happened the night Holloway disappeared, he said. Mos did not elaborate.

Holloway, 18, disappeared while visiting Aruba with about 100 classmates celebrating their graduation from Mountain Brook High School in suburban Birmingham, Alabama, and was last seen leaving the nightclub with the three youths. She failed to show up for her flight home the following day, and her packed bags were found in her hotel room.

All three suspects were arrested and released in the case in 2005. They were re-arrested last November 21, with authorities citing the new and incriminating evidence against them.

In freeing the Kalpoes from jail November 30, judges from Aruba’s Court of Appeal wrote that there was no evidence Holloway died as a result of a violent crime against her or that the suspects were involved in such a crime. Using similar reasoning, a judge released Van der Sloot a week later

After their release, Mos said he would not prosecute them. Under Aruban law, that meant the three could not legally be considered suspects, but Mos said in December that they remained persons of interest.

All three have maintained their innocence.

      Okay,

Do I think Joran is lying—yes I do, but let me play the devils advocate for just a little bit.

Was Joran totally lying—no, not everything was a lie. There is a little truth in all lies.

But, if there is a chance that Natalee was sold into slavery who picked her up? In my opinion if there was a pickup guy, it had to be the gardener—hunting guide, and we know where that trail goes.

Why did the gardener come forward and say that he saw Joran and the Kapoes at two in the morning behind the racket club? Answer—I don’t know.

My best guess is that Natalee’s body in the landfill. Everyone knows I believe this.

This new story of Joran’s is most probable a diversion. Someone is close to the truth. Maybe the new witness (plural) have Joran and Paulus scared. What is scaring them? Someone tell me. Someone knows.

      Jerry

    21. Waterboy on November 29th, 2008 8:28 am

Does the Kapoe’s stepfather have a lot of money? It appears he has more money than Paulus, and what business is he in?

Everyone says the money flows to the Kapoes from the Sloots, but what if it is the other way around?

I’m not saying that Joran did not kill Natalee, because I believe he murdered her, not that she died and he disposed of here body, but I believe he murdered her, and then disposed of her body.

What would make money flow from the Kapoes to the Sloots? I’m just curious. I can think of some reasons, but they sidetrack the entire issue. Can someone think of reasons that don’t sidetrack everything, and still hold Joran accountable?
      Jerry

    22. Maggie on November 29th, 2008 3:59 pm

I don’t know much about the Kalpoes father, but I remember it being said that Dompig was related to the Kalpoes, Michael Dompig is a friend of the Kalpoes and Sloot..and Boeti.. is related to Dompig.. I also remember Nadira was fired from her job for theft.. I’m guessing if anyone was paid to pick up Natalee, it would be to make her body disappear.. Something definitely was going on at the Sloots on the second night and Beth and Jug arriving way sooner than Paulus would ever imagine..interrupted it and where was Satish that night?

Aruba has never addressed the conflicts of interest in this case.. yet.. Right from the start if they were truly wanting justice for Natalee, they’ve would’ve excused themselves and turned this over to the FBI. Jansen and Mos are jokes.

Joe T refered to Paulus as a man with no common sense..and Steve was refering to him much the same way,, but check out his behaviour.. Even when he was on Nova and said Joran sneaked out again the second night, after their police statements(including Paulus’s) say he gave him permission to be out that night. Before they told us he has a terrible memory..So a guy running for Judge in training, lawyer and worked for the govt. for years with all these people has no common sense and a bad memory? Give us a break.. He was the one who got these 3 lawyers to start with.

I think this story should get some attention and investigation – even if it has to be the media. (Well, hey, look at Watergate!)

Anyway, although there are so many reasons why he could be lying, there is certainly backup for this being the truth (relatively).

Remember he used to say that they made out on the beach and then he left her there? I think he was expecting that the media would find her and the trafficker and all he had to do was deny that he sold her – he just needed to say he didn’t know she went with them.

But that never happened. The investigation has remained with him and has followed him all over the globe.

So, he broke. He figures that if he gives the clues to find her, they will uncover worse people than he, and he is hoping the world will forget about him.

To me, the lies he told in the interview with Greta this past week were the ones that incriminated his father. My guess is that the father knew within 24 hours of everything.

If it is true, and his father paid off officials to save his son from jail, knowing full well there was an innocent girl in a terrible situation, it is no wonder where Joran got his amoral ways.

    26. Waterboy on November 29th, 2008 11:29 pm

      To all,

You would have had to listen very carefully to Dana’s show the other night, but didn’t he say that Greta contacted Dave Holloway and wanted to know if he wanted to be on the show. I think Dana said that Dave told her he would not take any money to be on the show, but if she paid for draining the second pond, then he would appear on her show. Did anyone other than me catch that? I need to listen to it again.

Joran always throws a monkey wrench in the gears when Dave Holloway hits a home run. I think Joran is afraid of what might be found if the second pond is drained.

If you remember at the start of the investigation, they were looking in a pond behind the Sloot house, and then they drained the one behind the cement crypt where Carpe analyzed all the pictures of the plastic. Evidently this is another pond, I’m thinking where the witness saw Joran coming from. I’m speculating Joran told someone he put Natalee in a body of water on the island. It was leaked, but they didn’t know which body of water.

Joran could have put Natalee in the crab cage, and carried her out into the pond and left her there. I think he would have stripped her of her clothing, and that may have been what was carried out to sea.
If a body is opened from the navel to the top of the rib cage, then there won’t be as much bloating and the body would be less likely to surface with the cage.

This is a gross and sickening statement. I hope no family members read my post. I’m so sorry if it sounds insensitive. I really debated about making it.

I’m convinced that Natalee was in the landfill. I don’t know if she still is. I think everyone is wrong about Natalee being taken to sea.

      Jerry

    27. Waterboy on November 30th, 2008 10:28 am

I can’t help but think of a time over 3 years ago when Dave Holloway was searching the landfill, mostly on the observations of Junior. (I always believed Junior.) Joran was in jail (his home away from home), and he was squawking like a chicken. He was so nervous, he was perspiring nasty pheromones a good hunting dog with a bad cold could have smelled from a mile away (up wind).

What made Joran so jumpy and nervous? Why did he cry himself to sleep every night? I guess if you raped and killed a girl from Alabama, and her dad was there looking for her it would make anyone nervous, especially if you were guilty on all counts.

Was it that Dave was searching the landfill that made Joran so nervous or was he just fearful of Dave? Maybe he was just fearful of all the searches going on. Maybe he knew someone was close. Maybe he knew they were about to find Natalee. Other things were going on. They were searching the ponds, and the water filled quarry—remember?

What did Joran tell the detectives? For sure, we will never know. It’s been suppressed, destroyed, covered, diluted, sanitized, or hidden.

And as we contemplate, diagnosis, evaluate, and dissect the life and times of a psychopathic brute named Joran, he is probable at this moment stumped by a major decision like— is that a hole in the ground or my a$$ h—?

You don’t even need to speak Dutch to hear the difference in voices. The accent is totally wrong too. Joran did a bad fake job. We may only hope for more blunders on his part.
