Larry Garrison, MSM & Others Just Don’t Get It … You Are Never Supposed to be Part of the Story, You Report the Story

WHEN ONE MAKES THEM SELF PART OF THE STORY, ONE MAKES THEM SELF PART OF THE PROBLEM.

For those who cover stories, aid in a story and try to provide help within a story there is one fact that should always remain constant during the story … “you are never supposed to become part of the story!!!”

I am reminded of this fact and its abuses recently during the Presidential elections and in the media’s coverage of the case of missing toddler Caylee Anthony. Two drastically different types of stories, yet those involved in coverage of elections and a missing 3 year old just could not help themselves from inserting themselves into the actual story line. Becoming part of a story can have a physical insertion trait or can mean influencing a story through bias to create or slant the story. For the MSM’s part during the election it was their obvious bias in reporting stories and in many cases either subjectively making up stories and in other cases not covering other stories so to protect one candidate over another, HERE, HERE and HERE.. The American people have come to realize that there is a bias in the media and that very bias has caused tradition media to plunge while readers and viewers to go else where for their news as they no longer trust traditional media.

Then there is the case of missing Orlando toddler Caylee Anthony where individuals have interjected themselves into the story for what appears to be nothing more than profit and PR. It was reported earlier this week that Anthony family spokes person Larry Garrison was fired by the family for secretly profiting from the disappearance of 3 year old Caylee. Larry Garrison had denied these allegations and has subsequently resigned from the case due to the erratic behavior over the last several months exhibited by the Anthony family. He also claims that the family is being manipulated. One really must wonder and question when a media type and spokesperson who is fired for allegedly profiting from the misfortune of a missing persons case when their mind set is that they find it most exciting to become part of the story.

Watch the following video … we inform and you decide.

“The most exciting part for me on this is that I have now become part of the story”

Well Larry Garrison after this week no longer has to concern himself with being part of the story of missing 3 year old Caylee Anthony in Orlando, FL or the family of Cindy, George, Lee or indicted tot mom Casey Anthony. As Donald Trump of past Apprentice fame has said, “You’re Fired”.

Donald_trump-youre-fired

It is disturbing to witness that a person who espouses to be anti-spin and rails against the manipulating traditional media basically does the exact same thing and is a facilitators for that very same media. One would think that if some one had such issues with a bias and manipulating media that they would find another medium to provide information to the public rather than just being a middle man.

What is most baffling and disturbing about this is the alleged profiting and the fact that Garrison has wrote a book, The Newsbreaker, where the book reveals many untold details regarding these high profile cases. Garrison is supposed to be an anti-spin, anti-MSM individual. Yet, while spokesperson for the Anthony’s in the case of missing Caylee Anthony and her jailed and indicted mother Casey Anthony all we were provided was spin. Obvious facts like decomposition in the trunk, Casey Anthony never reporting that her daughter Caylee was missing and the all too numerous lies from Casey to police were spun in a fashion that would have made Aruba and their spokesperson Steve Cohen proud.

IFC Media Project with Gideon Yago is reportedly doing a documentary on Tuesday November 18, 2008 that has to do with reporting in the media and the truth behind the news. Of course its being produced by Meghan O’Hara (FAHRENHEIT 911 and SICKO) so it will have its own slant to it as well. How could it not? Because their was nothing slanted behind the Michael Moore movies Fahrenheit 911 or Sicko. No political liberal agenda whatsoever. It would appear that Larry Garrison is a part of the first episodes that discusses media truths and of all things the media’s fascination with missing white girls.

The obsession with young missing white girls by many news outlets. Snippets from a few sources are shown, including CNN’s Nancy Grace — when doesn’t her program feature a missing child? — and Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren.

Larry Garrison is introduced. He is a “news broker” who turns small-town tragedies into international stories. Most recently, Garrison was a spokesperson in the case of missing Florida toddler Caylee Anthony.

“The most exciting part for me is that I have now become part of the story,” he says, sounding disturbingly upbeat about the idea. “I love watching the news. I love being on the inside.”

Garrison, I feel the need to mention, is co-author of a book about the disappearance of teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba.

A question should be posed to IFC Media Project as to how can one report and claim in a book, The Newsbreaker, that there is a slant in the reporting of a story when it makes no difference what side of the story one is on, there is always a slant? As referenced above, “Larry Garrison is introduced. He is a “news broker” who turns small-town tragedies into international stories.” News broker?

For twenty-five years, Larry Garrison has been a news broker, operating within the secret side of the news, finding and releasing some of the most sensational stories of the last couple decades. Now, in this riveting account of the news behind the news, Garrison lets readers in on how such headlining stories are found, manipulated, and released to the public, blowing the whistle on the news media, and divulging what really happens when all of the major news agencies compete to report the same top stories.

Then there are those that interject themselves onto TV cable shows as expert pundits and then some how through money or influence suddenly become part of the never ending discussion and reporting of the case. The most recent example of this is Nancy Grace’s nightly reporting on missing Caylee Anthony with the same cast of characters. It is very important that these cases be provided exposure; however, all resources to one case by the MSM when there are so many to be covered provided a disservice and is nothing more than lazy journalism. To the others that would provide help to find the missing is commendable as long as it is done for the right reasons and without an agenda. I would offer these words of advice … you are there to help, your role is to be selfless toward the concerns of others, the focus is never to be on you but the cause and the second that you are a distraction you are doing no one or the cause any favors.

Can’t say that I know Larry Garrison, but I remember when news was news, and the people who covered it were reporters … and not the news itself. Those were the days before self-promotion became the cultural icon that it is today.

    2. Anthonys are Nuts on November 15th, 2008 1:57 pm

This story just proves that all people connected to the Anthonys, and including the Anthony family as well, are all out to profit off of blood money. For anyone to make a buck of the very life of sweet baby Caylee is disgusting. I don’t know how any of them can look at themselves in the mirror every single day. Casey Anthony knows the truth and for her not to talk is nothing short of pure evil.

    3. Maggie on November 15th, 2008 2:12 pm

Richard Larry Garrison worked on the Holloway case, helped Dave write his book.. doesn’t even seem like the same person anymore..He was the one who said Deepak said he wanted to write a book, but he wasn’t going to talk about Natalee because noone give a damn about Natalee.. He also said they were all about money.

I saw today Cindy is writing a book..I won’t read it.. is it going to be like OJs call if CASEY DID IT?

    4. Anthonys are Nuts on November 15th, 2008 2:41 pm

Maggie – I am boycotting any book put out by any of the Anthonys . . . I also boycott any media outlets that give the Anthonys a soapbox to spew their nonsense / theories. Ever since CA made that statement that “Casey is just as much of a victim in all of this as Caylee” . . . I cannot stomach to even look at the Anthonys. I am with you on that title – sounds like a Cindyism for sure!

Garrison quit due to erratic behavior. Investigative reporters do get involved with stories. Get your facts straight before you report falsely on your site to get more reader. Didn’t you go overboard on Aruba and get involved, or was that okay for a slimy site?

    6. Levi on November 15th, 2008 8:14 pm

Garrison didn’t quit he was FIRED… AND LEONARD PADILLA got his butt banned from Blanchard park… Too many people trying to get publicity and money off the case…

      http://incoldblogger.blogspot.com/2008/11/donations-intended-for-texas-equusearch.html

There is also rumblings Leonard Padilla collected money, that people thought was going to Texas Equuasearch.

Yeah, and we all ate it up,

Very few, truly, understand how the Kalpoes were

actually trying to rid themselves of the clutch

the Van der Sloots have on them; in coming to the

United States to tell the truth.

      But, what do I know?

      My name’s not Garrison.

      .

It’s always about money for everyone else, but them!

      To #5—-Faux FOX NEWS

Honestly, where do you get your information from? lol

And SM did not go “overboard” on the Natalee Holloway case in Aruba at all. IMO, they were instrumental in helping the case continue to stay in the limelight. Many people from this site went and volunteered their time and energy in the search for the remains of Natalee.

      So, get lost you troll!

      WE STAND BY THE GIRL.

This website orginated as a blog and information board for missing/exploited children and adults. To this day, they continue to report accurate and noteworthy news and information on many cases which just so happen to be headline news.

FAUX FOX NEWS—your entire idiotic post is bogus.

*******JUSTICE FOR NATALEE ANN HOLLOWAY *********
******* JUSTICE FOR CAYLEE MARIE ANTHONY *********

    9. Richard on November 16th, 2008 9:20 am

Nobody on this board (as far as I know) is making money by propounding theories on Natalee. We all have our ideas, yes … but we’re not promoting ourselves. We’re discussing them and sharing ideas and news as it comes in to get at the truth.

And if we promote a boycott of Aruba, as many of us do, it’s because that’s what common sense dictates

    10. Peter on November 16th, 2008 12:29 pm

Oh what a bunch of self righteous hooey reading the same people now complain about Larry Garrison when those here did the very same thing with the Natalee Holloway case. The blog owner here made it all about him and this blog day in and day out and cashed in on the case themselves. It was all about the blog owners agenda and hatred of all things Aruba. And the minions just followed blindly along.

Larry Garrison is no different now then he was back during the Natalee Holloway case, he was always a slime, but you all loved him then because he said what you wanted to hear.

Get over yourselves with all of the righteous indignation.

    11. Fox Fire on November 16th, 2008 9:05 pm

I don’t mean to criticize anyone.

But, in my opinion, it was a mistake to slap the
Kalpoes with that lawsuit. I think we should have
      sat back and listened…

Then, if they talked the same old crap…

      Slap them with the lawsuit!

      :)

    12. Fox Fire on November 16th, 2008 9:08 pm

      Peter…

The Natalee Holloway story was different…

      .

      Justice for Natalee!

      Justice for Caylee!

      .

    13. ANewGirl on November 16th, 2008 11:48 pm

      #10- Peter—Righteous indignation? lol

Wow, someone is bitter. I don’t think the owners of this website made one red cent off of the Natalee Holloway case. I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that they volunteered far more OF THEMSELVES than many or ANY in the mainstream media. Then, because the case was so sensational..the website really took off from there. Did that fact expand their revenue base with the extra banners, sponsors or advertisements?..well, sure. But to conclude that they “cashed in” is over exaggerated and most of your allegations are completely baseless.

As far as us “minions” blindly following along- why don’t you get over labeling many Monkeys on here as such? True “Monkeys” are all different individuals who happen to care and be passionate about these particular types of injustices in the world—doesn’t make us blind or self righteous.

Many here contributed monetarily to Texas Equusearch, the family or spent time protesting at various travel shows across America, mailed book bags, T-Shirts, Banners, etc. I know personally of many who put in countless VOLUNTEER hours at their own expense for travel and to back the movement. That is our right as citizens to stand up and be heard or take appropriate action to try and help contribute to a possible solution. At the very least, we all hope that these innocent victims who are missing or deceased can be brought home to their loved ones. It’s all about “doing the right thing”.

I think you missed the entire point about this posting and Larry Garrison and the MSM in general, so no sense in regurgitating that. How dare you question our causes, our passion to help those in need or our motivation for that matter!

You, Peter are the one who is blind.

I’m with #10 on this one. Dave Holloway should never have associated himself with this self-serving sensationalist.

    15. ANewGirl on November 18th, 2008 3:37 am

#14- dotratc…..Perhaps that is true. Garrison is everything you state. But my question to you is—if Dave Holloway (even) erroneously chose Garrison at a time when his entire family was desparately seeking out help from many/any… doesn’t that just make Holloway human that he made a mistake in judgement one time?

Surely, if you have followed the case as many here have—you would know what type of a Father and man Holloway is…so??????? Thank the Lord above for Tim Miller/SM and countless others who embraced this family and helped them through the entire ordeal. (and it’s still not over yet as Joran VDS walks the planet a free man and Aruba has done nothing to prosecute him, his Father, the Kalpoes and other CORRUPT individuals for their involvement in this horrible crime). Can you imagine if it were your Daughter and your family going through this? I know I wouldn’t have prevailed the way Beth & Dave Holloway and Twitty did through this nightmare…I mean, I just can’t even BEGIN to imagine!!!

So, I guess my point is that with many self-serving scumbags coming out of the woodwork to make a name or profit off of Natalee Holloway’s name—the Holloways may have been mislead and chosen one individual who was not genuine.

Personally, I took offense to #10′s general comments about the Owner of this site and calling all who enter the “Monkey Cage” here self righteous…please ! ….. appreciate your comments though.

NOV. 25, 2008 LOS ANGELES, CA-Due to overwhelming requests, Larry Garrison President of SilverCreek Entertainment is releasing the following statement.

“I previously resigned as the spokesperson for The Anthony Family due to their erratic behavior, and information that I recently learned during the period I represented the family. I personally did not release any e-mail to WFTV in Orlando as falsely reported by the media today, and any correspondences between the family and I have been discussed with the prosecutor’s office.”

Larry Garrison is a slime ball. He talks about his 2 kids when he has three – TWO sons and a daughter.

What a scuzzball that wants to be “part of the story now.” Must be very insecure. He also talks whiny and looks like a rat.

    18. bill flynn on August 12th, 2009 7:20 pm

This guy is a complete con. He never recieved an Edgar Allen Poe Award for writing. He is not a New York Times best seller. He trys to put his name with others and ride their coat tails. His IMDB and wikopedia notes that all his BS is non verified.
