Ed Rendell: Coverage of Barack Obama “Embarrassing,” & MSNBC “The Official Network of the Obama Campaign”

Even Democrats admit there is bias in the media, especially when it goes against Ed_Rendell_Gov_PAthe candidate they were supporting.

The Democratic Governor of Pennsylvania Ed Rendell gave members of the main stream media a tongue lashing, especially those at MSNBC. Rendell’s  comments came during what were supposed to be closing remarks at the Shorenstein Center-sponsored panel discussion with the three anchors of the Sunday news shows, NBC’s Tom Brokaw, ABC’s George Stephanopoulous and CBS’s Bob Schieffer.

Rendell called the coverage of Barack Obama “embarrassing,” and accused MSNBC of being “the official network of the Obama campaign.” Let us remind everyone that Ed Rendell is a Democrat. This was the last thing that the Democratic organizers wanted prior to the convention was the Obamamessiah media bias can of worms being opened.

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell was supposed to give “closing remarks” during this afternoon’s Shorenstein Center-sponsored panel discussion with all three Sunday show moderators — NBC’s Tom Brokaw, ABC’s George Stephanopoulous and CBS’s Bob Schieffer — but instead, he opened up a can of worms about bias in 2008 election coverage

“Ladies and gentleman, the coverage of Barack Obama was embarrassing,” said Rendell, in the ballroom at Denver’s Brown Palace Hotel. “It was embarrassing.”

All of this occurring the day before the Democratic National Convention begins where the Democratic Party is trying to display “unity”. Good luck to that notion. Rendell, a Hillary Clinton supporter, further went on to say:

“MSNBC was the official network of the Obama campaign,” Rendell said, who called their coverage “absolutely embarrassing.”

Chris Matthews, Rendell said, “loses his impartiality when he talks about the Clintons.”

We should all remember one thing: the media, and in particular the TV networks, cannot be quiet.

There has to be noise (i.e., speaking), and if possible something dramatic to catch the public.

And so, the trivial and unimportant are made to sound profound and exciting. The inevitable hype works to keep people tied to their TV screens.

In the process, of course, things move to the lowest common denominator. The TV network, or commentator, that out-hypes the others is the one that is seen as the ‘victor.’

Forget about traditional journalism values such as objective reporting. Nobody wants facts today.

Forget about the days when media ‘stars’ simply sat there and read the news.

And forget about the days when the public was expected to follow a story for more than, say, ten consecutive seconds.

It was back in the 1960s, I believe, that TV acquired the name of the ‘boob tube.’ What goes on today makes the stuff back then look profound.

And today’s society is the legacy….

Somehow there seems to be some kind of statement made: we go right from the spectacle of the Olympics to the spectacle of the convention.

it doesn’t surprise me at all that we had to read this news here instead of whatever newscasts we might watch daily. i haven’t even seen mention of it on fox, although they’ve made a lot of comments about the obama biased news coverage.

Its pretty bad when liberals are calling the media bias.

Does it get any more bias than that?

I dont here Eddie boy and the Clinton crew complaining about Fox’s coverage …NOne stop (Obama) is a terrorist/extremist…ect!
CNN became the Clinton News Network…..
Mornign Joe,Pat Bucannon,Bill Orliely,Sean Hannity, along with the entire staff of the Fake news Network, almost, everyone on CNN,MSNBC,FOX were all in the tank for Hillary and she still lost. Ed Rendell and the clintons know there reign is over.. The media once feared that group, so they were able to do and say whatever it they wanted…They’d bash the media over the head and they’d run with their tales tucked under. Well them days are over. Obama beat them fare and square…This notion that somehow Barrack is given priviledge by the media is rediculous……19months later this guyis still having to prove that he’s American. Give it a break! So if OBBIE was for Obama…Thank God he had at least one who wasnt sucking up to the Clinton or trying to cause riff for the sake of a story or wants MC Sane to win.

      Zharri,
Use spell check if you can’t spell better than that…makes people think you are not intelligent or know what you are talking about.

Forget that I disagree with everything you said!!!
