CHANGE: Status Quo We Can Believe In … Obama Must be Concerned with his Own Lack of Experience

The Political “Odd Couple” … Can two Democratic men share a Presidential/VP ticket without driving each other crazy? Obama has been prone to gaffes while Biden has a history of them.

Obama’s admission to his lack of experience and his choice of Biden may be the final gaffe that torpedos his candidacy. The Huffington Post can spin all they want and try and put a happy face on Biden as VP … the fact of the matter is that the Obamamessiah is going to find it impossible to tell the left that “Change” is about a 35 year Washington, DC Senator insider when he attacks McCain for being the same.

Status quo you can believe in

Obama / Biden ’08 — What it Says About Barack. The once Democratic candidate of “Change,” Barack Obama has now become the “typical” politician and the candidate of status quo. Obama can effectively erase the words “change” off any of his slogans as his pick for VP shows one glaring blemish on Obama’s campaign. In the end, Obama and his campaign agreed that “the Chosen One” does not have the experience to be President and needed an infusion of credibility and experience.

The candidate of change went with the status quo.

In picking Sen. Joe Biden to be his running mate, Barack Obama sought to shore up his weakness — inexperience in office and on foreign policy — rather than underscore his strength as a new-generation candidate defying political conventions.

He picked a 35-year veteran of the Senate — the ultimate insider — rather than a candidate from outside Washington, such as Govs. Tim Kaine of Virginia or Kathleen Sebelius of Kansas; or from outside his party, such as Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska; or from outside the mostly white male club of vice presidential candidates. Hillary Rodham Clinton didn’t even make his short list.

Stop the ACLU has a great summary of bloggers reactions to Obama’s choice for his Veep running mate. Overwhelming all state that the Biden choice is nothing more than a glaring concern than Obama is not ready for prime time. Obama’s incredible inexperience to hold the Office of the Presidency is causing much concern among voters, the Democratic party and it is evident in the polls.

Its pretty bad when your choice for VP Biden has said some pretty damning things about Obama’s experience and praised John McCain.

I thought that Barack Obama was against lobbyist cash? That same lobbyist cash that his now VP running Joseph Biden make raked in.

Obama may decry lobbyist cash (or at least federal lobbyist cash), but Biden has taken $344,400 from lobbyists since 1997 — making lobbyists the 10th biggest contributing industry.

That seems a direct contradiction of the Obama message.

Obama has been outspoken about contributions from lobbyists, vowing not to accept any contributions from them. Biden doesn’t seem to have quite the same view.

Is it just me, or does “Obama-Biden” remind you of “Dukakis-Bentsen” ? As far as I am concerned, he could not have picked a worse VP candidate. After pilfering the nomination from Hilary with his race card b.s., he should have made her VP, but we all know he could not hold his own with the Clintons in such an administration. But Biden ? I guess he could not sober up Ted Kennedy. I’ll always remember Biden for his shameful behavior during the Robert Bork confirmation hearings. Biden is one of the grandfathers of “get your enemy” politics. They got Bork for partisan reasons. Then the Republicans “got” Jim Wright. And it hasn’t stopped since. I hope they get trounced.

This is change??? A Washington insider whose picture is in the margin of the dictionary listed under partisan politics? A tax and spend man of the first order? Did I mention mean spirited and big mouth?

Oh well, what did we really expect?

Maybe the idea is for Obama to continue smiling at everyone and uttering platitudes while Biden acts as the hatchetman? Doubt it will work.

Anyway, I read a story saying that Biden got the call from Obama while having root canal work done.
Perhaps there is some kind of significance there.

And as I said on a previous post, rather childishly, better an Obama-Biden ticket than a Biden-Obama (B.O.) ticket.

Then again, Barack Obama … well, enough.

I read where 27% of Hillary’s supporters are going to vote for McCain and 21% are not going to vote at all….

They can always write her in on the ballot..

So now the Democrats will a ballot with candidates as different as day and night…can’t they ever get it right…Obama as we know doesn’t have any experience…The President of the United States position is not one of on the job training….as Biden said…

you’re not suppose to judge a book by its cover.
on anything, there will ALWAYS be two sides.
sometimes, one side shows mucho class while the other side shows its pit bullism.

Only God can judge. We however, have the responsibility of observing, evaluating and choosing who we want as a leader.

Obama really gaffed on this one.

Maybe by Monday he will have asked Biden to step down as chose another running mate.

Not only has be infuriated the ideologs on the LEFT who actually believed he was a candidate of change … Obama now has some explaining to do to Clinton supporters.

How does Obama explain that he picked a DC insider and not Hillary? That would have been the excuse if he had picked a state governor like Richardson or a short term Senator. In the end he choses someone like Biden who has been in the Senate forever.

So if that’s the case, why not pick Hillary?

What is most comical regarding the Biden choice is that even a black man picks an old white man as his political choice in the end. Simply bizarre. Its as if Obama and his camp paid no attention to anything Obama has told voters for the past 1-1/2 years.

I don’t think Obama wanted Hillary around period…he well knows she is way more qualified to run for the Presidency….Biden acts like a horny rooster….

    10. Richard on August 24th, 2008 9:06 am

By the way … has anyone asked Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, or the other wealthy Democrats how many houses they own?

      No? Don’t they know?

Hmmm, I wonder why nobody has done this. Just can’t figure it out.

Of course, if Kennedy, Kerry, et al didn’t know … do you think you’d hear a peep from the media?

Just because the McCain’s have property doesn’t mean he doesn’t understand the economy…..McCain has a moderate condo in Washington DC…the rest of the property is owned by his wife….Cindy’s father came back from World War II and started a small beer distributing business and worked his butt off….he became very successful but it was through hard work…so what if he left his children money…and so what if they have investment property…anybody want to know how much money Edwards has got…….anybody want to know how much money Obama has got…

Some times you leave things up to your investors to buy and sell…

I think that was a really cheap shot on the Democrats part…especially when the money was hard earned by a well respected Veteran…

Why doesn’t Obama direct some of his attention to his brother George who is living in a shack on a dollar a day…

    12. brie. on August 24th, 2008 10:14 am

When Obama introduced Biden in Springfield, he made another gaffe, he said Joe Biden the next President…then quickly came back with the next Vice President….does he snort…!!!!

From Michael Graham’s “The Natural Truth” Blog:

Here are suggestions for my “Must-Carry” items on my way to the DNC:

      * JACK DANIELS (actually, I’ll be bringing Bushmill’s, but it’s the right idea).

      * Considering you’ll be traveling with Jim and Margery, and the Denver mayor has suspended marijuana laws for the week, the #1 item HAS to be your bong.

      * You should bring your soul – you’ll be able to get it fixed cheap.

*A very large bag of Pork Rinds. (Yummmm)

*A t-shirt that reads: “press 1 for SPANISH.”

      * Ear plugs and migraine medication, going to need it, and Abba’s Dancing Queen cd, play it constantly, will keep the liberals away and give you some safety

*Toilet paper (to supplement the “one square allotment” the DNC will be handing out.)
