Kobe Bryant Teaches Chris Collinsworth and Liberal NBC What it Mean to be Patriotic

KUDOS to Kobe Bryant … “You know what? Our country is the best!”

How bad has the liberal media become when it takes a multi-million dollar, pampered professional athlete shows more patriotism than a liberal sports announcer? NBC and Chris Collinsworth should be ashamed of themselves for the line of questioning. Collinsworth actually questioned whether “it was cool for you love your country, and that you’re fighting for the red, white and blue.” Making matters worse, Collinsworth had a stupid smirk on his face when asking the question.

Gold Medal for Idiot of the day goes to … Chris Collinsworth

I have never been a Kobe Bryant fan; however, after his inspiring and heart felt comments about patriotism and representing his country … I might just become one. As Newsbusters stated, “apparently Collinsworth was shocked that a black man could be at all patriotic and proud of being a representative of his country”. All we can say is Thanks Kobe for your patriotism and pride in wearing the red, white and blue … maybe that’s why this Olympics Re-deem Team is on a mission and crushing all opponents. To NBC … Shame on you!

Go to Newsbusters or Ms Underestimated

Collinsworth: Tell the story when you first got your USA uniform.

Kobe: Well I had goosebumps and I actually just looked at it for awhile. I just held it there and I laid it across my bed and I just stared at it for a few minutes; just because as a kid growing up this is the ultimate, ultimate in basketball.

Collinsworth: Where does the patriotism come from inside of you? Historically, what is it?

Kobe: Well, you know it’s just our country, it’s… we believe is the greatest country in the world. It has given us so many great opportunities, and it’s just a sense of pride that you have; that you say “You know what? Our country is the best!”

Collinsworth: Is that a ‘cool’ thing to say, in this day and age? That you love your country, and that you’re fighting for the red, white and blue? It seems sort of like a day gone by.

Kobe: No, it’s a cool thing for me to say. I feel great about it, and I’m not ashamed to say it. I mean, this is a tremendous honor.

Kobe Bryant Schools Liberal NBC Announcer On Patriotism

It’s pretty moving to watch a pampered professional jock show more patriotism than the Democratic candidate for president, more pride in his country than the democratic candidate’s wife, and more awareness of this country’s opportunities than a liberal NBC announcer.

Collinsworth can’t wait for the collapse of America. Maybe he’s been promised a commentary position in the New World Order Sports League.

I’m not a Kobe Bryant fan, but I’m glad he told millions of Americans that he doesn’t necessarily agree with whiney Michelle Obama.

      Kobe Bryant….are you kidding me??!!
The guy’s a rapist…who cares what he has to say!!!

    4. david r on August 19th, 2008 3:28 pm

That was an “in-your-face disgrace” slam dunk. Way to go, Kobe.

Collinsworth is a tool and sucks as an announcer, imo. Having been involved with the 1992 Dream Team in an ancillary way the meaning the Olympics had on the guys back then, and do now, was/is not overshadowed by titles/money/endorsements. It was/is about winning the crowning acheivement in sports – a gold medal for your country.

And since #2 felt the need to insert partisan politics into a non-political story, I’m glad he told millions of Americans that he doesn’t necessarily agree with whiney John McCain.

Chris: You were a mediocre receiver, and no one cares about your opinion.
The interview with Kobe Bryant shows how ridiculous you truly are.
Have never been a Kobe Bryant Fan, but I am now.
You are an IDIOT COMMIE BASTARD that needs to live in a hole called CINCINATTI!!!!!!!!!!

I get really tired too of people whining about this country. We are blessed with so much. So much “we’ve” become a bunch of spoiled brats. I read the book a few years ago “The Greatest Generation” by Tom Brokaw.. That book is one of the best. That being said, I do wish they would quit sending the jobs overseas. I live in the midwest, many people depend on manufacturing jobs as their living. Buy American cars. I even shop the little local stores and restaurants to help keep them in business. The money in politics now is crazy!! I am not a Kobe Bryant fan either, (paying off women) but I do get so tired of people who live here, make millions here and go abroad to slam this country. We are always sending money or our men to help everyone else . I say we keep some of it and help others here. I love the USA, may she live forever.

Kind of a personel story but,, my mother when she was terminally ill and in bed would sit up occasionally and one night Billy Graham had one of his crusades going.. She wanted me to turn it on.. so I did. George Beverly Shea came on and started singing ” God Bless America” My mother was on lots of medication, but she sat up and started singing out loud along with the song and you could see in her face the pride and how much that song meant to her. That memory will stay with me forever.

This is regarding the Aug 16, 2008, NBC interview with Chris Collinsworth and Kobe Bryant.
Collinsworth, that cowardly parasite that reaps the benefit of a lucrative job, by doing nothing more than speaking into a microphone has the audacity to question Kobe’s patriotism in front of millions of viewers; in addition to questioning this patriotism as it is some unilaterally forgotten or questionable modern dislike by the majority.
There are no civil words to describe this piece of feces or his actions. He is a coward as man, who has reaped the fruits afforded by this great nation, yet then seizes the moment to disgrace it.
As he is afforded free speech by the ideology of this great nation, I do as well, and with that privilege I truly hope that this coward experiences nothing but disgrace as a man, father and an American.

    9. JO on August 19th, 2008 7:21 pm

Rob, actually Chris Collinsworth lives in Kentucky. Cincinnati is in Ohio.

    10. A New Girl on August 19th, 2008 7:24 pm

Funny thing is, IMHO….anytime while watching NFL today I’d comment to my husband how much I couldn’t seem to stomach Chris Collinsworth as a Sports Commentator……..just something about him.

Was never really a huge Kobe Bryant fan either (GO CELTS!!) but, indeed—Mr. Bryant has scored some major points now. Want to point out…when the big Green Machine took away Kobe’s run to gather a fourth NBA Championship ring, at least he handled himself personally and his team’s defeat with grace. Yah, Kobe—I am kind of liking you even more.

    11. Katy on August 19th, 2008 7:48 pm

I am not a liberal or a fan NBC, NBC News, Chris Collinsworth, or Kobe. But I got something completely different from that interview. Chris was asking him to comment on the world’s view of America right now, which let’s face it, isn’t so great. As someone who used to be a reporter, I know you have to ask those questions. Everyone is asking Kobe the standard stuff. Collinsworth wanted to ask something edgy, something to get a different sound bite. And it worked. We’re talking about it!

In no way, do I think Chris Collinsworth is a commie as someone said, he was just asking Kobe his opinion on the “coolness” of being patriotic these days.

    12. JO on August 19th, 2008 9:16 pm

As a kid, my parents flew the flag, as did my grandparents. I fly the flag, but hardly no one in my neighborhood flys the flag. Why is that hardly anyone flys the flag. Is flying the flag not cool – “It seems sort of like a day gone by?”

    13. ken on August 20th, 2008 2:25 am

yea kobe you show him!”(huh?)Hey guys, I was thinking of supporting Obama.Does that mean I hate America?

    14. dnnsvaughan@yahoo.com on August 20th, 2008 5:35 am

when you think seriously about the kind of people who hate americans and the things they hate us for, it gives me great satisfaction and pride to be an american.

    15. Scott on August 20th, 2008 6:01 am

katy – how and the (*&*()* can you tell what Collinsworth was meaning in his question. Just because you were a reporter (and so was I btw) doesn’t mean you know the intention of his question. I watched the interview and the fact that Collinsworth works for NBC and NBC is a strictly liberal network, leads credence to the fact that Collinsworth was trying to force Kobe into saying something that was in line with NBC’s thinking about our country!

    16. Patty on August 20th, 2008 6:50 am

Not much of a Kobe fan either. But not only did he make the statement, but he has backed it up with his actions, activly supporting the US teams in other sports by cheering from the stands and conversing with all of the other US athletes. It gives the other athletes an incentive to do their best. Good job.

    17. The Sarge on August 20th, 2008 8:13 am

Stunning to see Collingsworth say something as stupid as he did on national T V. The emperor has no clothes! It’s always great for me, to see a person show respect for his country, when a obviously uninformed interviewer is trying to put politically correct words in your mouth. With that kind of attitude Chris, it won’t be long before you are on NBC news.

    18. Rusty G. on August 20th, 2008 2:05 pm

Doesn’t it seem like the very idea of patriotism has gone out of style, especially among the younger generations, though? I fail to see what is especially wrong about acknowledging this – Collinsworth isn’t making a value judgment on whether it is good or bad that patriotism has become a dirty word. He’s simply saying that, for many, it has, and is asking Kobe what he feels.

And Kobe responded in a refreshing way. This is a non-issue.

    19. Kara on August 20th, 2008 8:46 pm

Collinsworth is a pathetic whore trying to keep his job by appeasing the left-wing America haters who employ him. What a disgrace he is (and totally uncool) and what a stand up guy Kobe Bryant turned out to be. I’ll avoid watching NBC shows now that their antipathy for America is so naked and in-your-face!

    20. AJ on August 21st, 2008 8:52 am

Chris Collinsworth disgusts me. It is unbelievabe to me that anyone who was born, raised and has realized the success he’s had, because of our system, could make such comments. More liberal bias from NBC. That’s why I hate their football show. Too much Keith Olbertool.

Stick to football and keep your rapper shut.

While I’m at it, please Bob Costas stop dying everthing. You look like a corpse.

    21. Bo on August 23rd, 2008 6:06 am

Way to go Kobe! You are the man! Collinsworth had to have been shocked. I just became a big fan!! Collinsworth needs to move to San Francisco, he will feel more at home. Never again will I watch any program that has that moron on it again.

    22. Mr. Conservative on August 31st, 2008 1:46 pm

I hope my comment starts an NBC boycott until they fire Collinsworth. NBC and Collinsworthlessness are disgustingly anti-American and they should all move to another country. I don’t care what sport or program is on, if Collinsworth is the announcer I will turn to another channel, or just do something else… like hang an American flag on my doorstep!

    23. LOOLLOLOL on December 7th, 2008 6:49 pm

lol you guys will turn anything into something stupid. all he is commenting on is how his answer sounds really old school and not like something most people in his position would say now and days.

    24. clarence lamar on December 11th, 2008 9:50 pm

Mr collinsworth is negative when it comes to black football players.whenever he`s working its always the black player at fault.

    25. Kathy Sharep on February 14th, 2009 8:56 pm

So is Kobe aware that Chris is considers “Michael Vick his man” thus giving his approval to gambling and for the more liberal the systematic torture of dogs for no reason other than to see them fight each other. This issue has nothing to with political parties and everything to do with the quality of humanity we ask of each other (professional athetlet or plumber) . From the moment Vick made a check he was committed to dog torture, that differs from a divorce, a momentary misjudgement and even carrying a firearm which only did harm to the offender. This was an enterprise based on gambling on the tortured lived of dogs fighting for their lives- Collinsworths’ MAN. Think about it.

    26. Get Real on April 17th, 2009 7:45 am

I agree with 23. Everybody is too quick to make something out of nothing. This was a harmless question so everyone get a life already.

    27. Mr. Man on October 30th, 2011 9:10 pm

Agree with 23 and 26. What the hell were you people going on about? It was a question about sports and how the U.S. tends to focus on national sporting events more than international.

And do you really change your mind about an arrogant, cheating jerk because he says he loves his country?
I think we need to raise our standards.

Kobie is not a rapist. He put himself in a bad situation with a girl who already had earned her reputation in Eagle County. She came to his room, he didn’t drag her there. She came to play withNBA caliber when all she had was HS Jr Varsity experience and got schooled and then scared of the “Black Mamba”. II’m from Co. Friends of mine went to school with Ms. xxxxxxx none of them were surprised who it was. Kobie is one of the most intelligent people in all of the NBA. More intelligent than any of you and probably myself included. He speaks 3~4 languages while most of you barley speak 1. One of the top 10 greatest players ever and was the best till his last game (period). So like Kobie told that spiteful little Bi+¢h, “shut up, and suck it”
      _________________
SM: Just because he is one of the 10 greatest players, doesn’t make him a good person. There are plenty of athletes we can say that about.

I have never been a Laker fan, but Kobe is good. He Could hold Michael Jordon’s jock, but he’s good. :)

    31. isaac on June 16th, 2017 9:47 am

Rapist?? Try Ben Rothlisberger or however you spell that rapist name. He had multiple accusers but was luck enough to keep out of the media(white guy) and court room by paying them off…but you haters will never associate him with rapist cause your a bunch of dumb mofo’s. Recognize.

SM: I have never thought Roethlisberger was a good guy. Both he and Kobe put themselves in situations.
