Americans Selling Second Homes in Aruba … Morgage Crisis in US Hits Aruba

The mortgage and financial credit problems in the United Sates have seem to had an effect on real estate in Aruba. Americans are selling their second homes in Aruba. I guess the saying is true, ever cloud does have a silver lining.

Aruba_For Sale

ORANJESTAD – Amongst Americans it’s almost impossible to find buyers for a house on Aruba due to the financial credit crisis in their country. Those who already have a house on Aruba, more often want to get rid of it. Several well-known real estate agents have noticed this since the real estate bubble burst mid last year in the US. Maybe Aruba thinks the Colombian drug dealers will be moving in?

Must say, though, that place in the photo looks nice … too bad that it’s in Aruba.

Cheer up, Aruba, you’ve still got the van der Scum family there. I guess they’ll be the image of what Aruba is to the world.

roflmao, sounds like aruba isn’t too fond of the americans that are heading to the happy island.

and then again, maybe Americans aren’t purchasing houses in Aruba because they don’t want anything to do with “one crappy island”?

    11. Maggie on July 25th, 2008 3:01 pm

Who in their right mind would buy a house there now or visit? I believe it was Clint van Zant who said Aruba is the only place you can confess to murder and walk around free.So what other kind is Aruba trying to attract? I will add also sexual stuff while someone is going in and out of conscious. I am so glad Peter DeVries aired the tape of Joran and Patrick. People got to see, the real Joran. Not the one who has a teacher sitting off stage or make up artists and his father and mother sitting off camera, like he’s rehearsing for a movie role.

You can also go visit Michael Posner. Underage drinking and gambling with no consequences as long as you spend, spend , spend. ViP passes and all. Groups trolling for young female American tourists. Oh we did this 20 times before and nothing happened. You could always get a job as a paid liar. Lies and more lies. Sit on the beach and hope another “unknown” set of bones don’t wash up. Watch Paulus become a lawyer, after taking his underage son out drinking and gambling which put the whole night in play.

Natalee was an invited guest into Aruba’s home and everyday I hope and pray these people(they know who they are) have to answer for what they done to this beautiful young lady and her grieving family. At least 3 missing Americans in Aruba , no evidence , not a trace, hmmmmm..

    12. Ray on July 26th, 2008 1:18 am

I would not have a house in ARUBA if it was FREE.

    13. richard on July 26th, 2008 7:08 am

True, Maggie (#11) … but if you like to use drugs, opportunities abound.

And if you like to sell them, Aruba is the place to be!

And at least you won’t have to worry about being accountable for your actions … so long as you have the money to buy your way out.

    14. richard on July 26th, 2008 7:11 am

“I am so glad Peter DeVries aired the tape of Joran and Patrick. People got to see, the real Joran.”

But did people get to see the real Patrick? He likes to portray himself as someone like us, who was morally outraged at the whole sad saga.

That’s how he wants it to appear. But if I remember, he turned to deVries only after the Dutch refused to fork over the money he wanted.

Sounds like the usual stuff from Aruba … pay us off first of all. Anyway, I haven’t heard anything about his book, nor do I care to.

    15. richard on July 26th, 2008 9:40 am

Saw this story today … apparently it’s from South Africa. I have to say, this is hard to believe … people, apparently well-to-do and important in society, drugging women’s drinks and using them, unwittingly, in porn movies.

Nope, just can’t think this can go on.

Why, next thing you know they’ll be saying it could happen in the Caribbean. Even in Aruba.

      Socialites face ‘weird’ drug-porn charges

A PROMINENT East London business mogul and his wife are being investigated for producing pornographic films allegedly involving unwitting and drugged employees at their posh home.

This week the Saturday Dispatch reliably learnt of an investigation by the South African Police Service’s (SAPS) Sexual Offences Unit against the couple, who allegedly performed “bizarre” explicit acts with several young women after spiking their drinks with a date-rape drug.

The couple cannot be identified as they have not yet been charged.

A police officer at the unit said the couple’s modus operandi involved inviting unsuspecting women – some of them current and former employees – for dinner to their up-market home before taking “advantage of them”.

“From what we’ve gathered thus far, they would invite guests over and spike their drinks before engaging in the bizarre acts,” said the officer.

According to him, the couple is well known in business circles, own several companies and have a home in one of the city’s swankiest suburbs .

Once the alleged victims were knocked out by the drugs, they were allegedly stripped naked before the couple took turns molesting them on camera.

In some of the footage the wife is allegedly seen performing lewd lesbian acts.

All the filmed action was allegedly stored on the couple’s home computer.

“It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen,” said the officer, adding that the videos were of an “extremely explicit” nature.

The exploitation of the unsuspecting women apparently took place at their home over a “very long period”.

Their alleged activities were apparently uncovered when one of the victims, who remembered parts of her ordeal, blew the whistle a few months ago.

Most of their victims were in their late teens and early- to mid-twenties.

The police have not yet specified how many alleged victims there were or if all of them were filmed.

Police raided the couple’s home and confiscated their computer and hard drive, from which they allegedly retrieved “the most disturbing pictures”.

“Their hard drives were full of all this explicit porn stuff.

“There were different faces all the time and these ladies were clearly drugged out of their mind,” said the officer.

The hard drives are currently with the police forensic experts and a “thick docket” is with the Director of Public Prosecutions, who is busy compiling a charge sheet.

    16. richard on July 26th, 2008 9:43 am

We never DID find out what was on Joran’s computer, did we? All I know is, that once he was brought in to police, his father took down the Web site that Joran and the Pimps used.

Of course, since PvdScum was a judge, there was nothing bad on that site. We know this, because judges have to follow a code of ethics.

And if they don’t, the government can investigate.

    17. richard on July 26th, 2008 9:45 am

CORRECTION: Sorry for the lapse. PvdScum wasn’t a judge, he was a failed wannabe judge. He learned the week before Natalee got to Aruba that he didn’t pass the test.

Even so, his ethical standards are surely high … at least, as high as those prevailing elsewhere on Aruba.

anita wanted status and notoriety.. well she got notoriety… he couldnt make it as a judge.. musta broke anitas heart…so he opted to be known as a very corrupt evil man.. he was just as guilty as his son the killer… he is well known but with what integrity???

    25. kaye on July 28th, 2008 10:35 am

the feeling has always been “hit them where it hurts…….in the pocketbook”. it’s paying off. no justice for natalee, no tourists or american $$ for aruba.

    26. Ray on July 28th, 2008 10:42 pm

Lisa Carvalhal said she is not UNSATISFIED with the absence of AMERICANS, well I have news for MISS LISA I am very satisfied with the absence of AMERICANS. Any Amerian that would buy property in ARUBA after the NATALEE HOLLOWAY CASE is not my kind of person.

    27. kaye on July 29th, 2008 7:17 am

ray 26….agree with you. most americans who can afford vacations homes abroad will definitely be scrutinizing the places they buy. making careful, educated decisions. and rightfully so. if i had the means, i would not spend one hard earned american dollar on that cesspool of an island. bravo to the americans who are pulling out. hit them where it hurts. in the pocketbook.that’s all they are concerned about anyway is our money.

    28. jessica on July 25th, 2009 5:41 pm

since everyone wishes Aruba bad because of Natalee Holloway then we are lucky that anyone visits America…we have millions of kidnappers, pedophile, murderers that put their crime in action everday right here… not once ever century! so should I say run people run from America?

    29. Carl on September 5th, 2009 12:56 pm

      Hi Jessica

I agree with you 100% I was in Aruba for 24 day in July of 09, we travel often through America meaning the continent and there is much more crime in other islands, and countries through the region.

    30. Chuck Groszek on April 16th, 2010 5:49 pm

First of all, I know the murder crime in Aruba is 100 times less than most cities in the United States. In Joliet, Il. About the size of Aruba. Joliet, Il. has more crimes and murders in the average week than Aruba has in 2 to 3 years. The idiot that is responsible for Natilie Hollaway’s death was NOT an Arubian. He was from Holland visiting just like Natilie. Aruba got blamed for foreigners coming there and acting stupid.
I have been to Aruba over 25 times and feel safer than walking the streets in most United States cities.
As for homes in Aruba A home worth $250,000.00 taxes are $300.00 per year. The people are polite and very nice. Please do not knock a country that has bad people come to visit. If a radical idiot comes to the U.S. and murders people, do we say the U.S. is a bad place to go? Get the facts before you make judgement against an entire country. Neither person was from Aruba!
SM: So how long have you compared apples to oranges?

Dude, you are comparing an island tourist local to a city. Your arguments are so lame and late to the story. We have discussed and disproved your statements thousands of times since NH was murdered in 2005.

One person or a group of people do not an Island make; however, when the police, government, media and hotel associations got involved to discredit the Holloway family and run cover for Van der Sloot and the Kalpoe’s, there is a problem.

Aruba crated websites and hired PR people to spin the story … they failed.

When a people care more about their tourism than they do solving a crime … we have a problem. That is what happened on Aruba with Natalee Holloway.

For that … Aruba will always be branded.

    31. Gino on June 21st, 2010 4:21 pm

You guys can say what ever you want I say LOOK IN TO YOUR OWN HOME before you write any BS
and ARUBA will and always stay one happy Island

    32. Al Gambino on December 3rd, 2011 6:16 pm

Aruba is a beautiful place and the people are very friendly.First of all,any parent who would allow an 18 year old girl to go on a trip with a bunch of wild, druggies, drunks, which is normal to the American people must be high herself!I was born in Cuba and raised in NYC,from day one, drugs and booze was offered to me by American kids(I told them to shove it up their ass). Why the hell do you think there is such a drug problem in American;Americans LOVE drugs and BOOZE,they demand it!If they didn’t have such a demand for it,there wouldn’t be so much crime. So,don’t tell me many BS,there is more crime in one day in America then Aruba will see in it’s life time.
SM: Your argument is so tired and old, spare us. Safe, eh. Like you have even any concept of the actual crime that takes place there. What is reported is the tip of the iceberg.

    33. Al Gambino on December 3rd, 2011 6:33 pm

Oh,and Jordan(who is not Aruban)will be murdered in Peru

    34. AL Gambino on December 4th, 2011 12:33 pm

SM,how many times have you been to Aruba? NONE…me 4 times, and never had a problem.I’ve traveled almost everywhere in the World, and it’s always the same,Americans acting like the fools they are, druggies and drunks, like no law applys to them;even on their own planes.Good, stay the hell out of the ABC Islands, who the hell needs your BS anyway. The Islands made it before the Americans made it well known, and they will make again without out you.Keep your stupid teenagers out of there,go to the South Bronx for vacation…LOL….You wouldn’t last 2 minutes…LOL
SM: How clueless could you possible be. Before you shoot your mouth off, you might want to do your homework. But then again, your from the South Bronx, we are all supposed to be in awe. What makes you think that I have never been, lived and worked there?

You asked how many times had I been to Aruba, none. WRONG. Wow, you have been there 4 times, I am so impressed. That’s 20 less times than I have. Had been going there since the 1970′s. The place actually used to be nice and safe … no longer. The minute the island became successful a truly bad element moved in. And I have actually worked there as well. As a matter of fact in my younger years I dated an individual from Aruba and was family friends with the late Betico Croes. Oh yea, and have also been to Curacao and Bonaire. Throw in Antigua, Barbados and numerous other Caribbean islands.

If you had actually known what this site was about and what I was all about, you would know why we were public enemy #1 with Aruba, their tourism agencies and the power base. I had the inside baseball on them,

Wow, you have traveled the world. Do you think you are the only one in America that has the ability to purchase a plane ticket? I have also been to Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, France, just to name a few.

And guess what, wrong again on not lasting 2 minutes in the Bronx. Some how little old me lasted two years having Brooklyn, Spanish Harlem and yes, the South Bronx as a territory for business. Oh the days of hanging out at Hunts Point Auto and the businesses off the Grand Concourse. Oh yea, I fear the Bronx so much that I go to Yankee games and openly root for the Red Sox.

You might want to get a clue and buy a vowel before you make comments that are merely ignorant.

      Care to try again Keebler?

    35. AL Gambino on December 4th, 2011 3:52 pm

Yea SM,don’t print my last comment, the TRUTH hurts……LOL
SM: LOL … you might want to read the response … looks like the joke is on you dude.

    36. Al Gambino on December 4th, 2011 5:00 pm

Go ahead SM,don’t print my last comment….BS web site. You know I’m right,NH’s mom regrets her poor judgement, only the creator(whom ever that many be to each of us)will make it right in NH’s eyes….in Peru judement will be served.SM,you will never hear from me again…LOL,I promise.I came across your web site searching for real estate, the young gangs fighting for power has made it dangerous just to survive, see ya…..AL
SM: Your comment was posted … it was also responded to and showed just how wrong one person could be. Just a reminder … i already lasted longer than 2 minutes in the South Bronx. Sorry, I have been in much more dangerous areas than that.

    37. Al Gambino on December 5th, 2011 12:07 pm

Red Sox !!!!!….Now it’s WAR….lol, sorry I pissed you off David, your website is very helpful. You have to agree, the demand for drugs in America is the down fall of America,I’m against it 100%.Never used them and can’t understand the need for it.Well,it’s been nice chatting with you,God bless you, thank you for not disrepecting my family name,I know you could have…..Big AL(old school, old fart)
