Americans Selling Second Homes in Aruba … Morgage Crisis in US Hits Aruba

The mortgage and financial credit problems in the United Sates have seem to had an effect on real estate in Aruba. Americans are selling their second homes in Aruba. I guess the saying is true, ever cloud does have a silver lining.

Aruba_For Sale

ORANJESTAD – Amongst Americans it’s almost impossible to find buyers for a house on Aruba due to the financial credit crisis in their country. Those who already have a house on Aruba, more often want to get rid of it. Several well-known real estate agents have noticed this since the real estate bubble burst mid last year in the US. Maybe Aruba thinks the Colombian drug dealers will be moving in?

Must say, though, that place in the photo looks nice … too bad that it’s in Aruba.

Cheer up, Aruba, you’ve still got the van der Scum family there. I guess they’ll be the image of what Aruba is to the world.

“Carvalhal is not even too unsatisfied with the absence of the Americans. “The type of Americans we were getting weren’t the best types.”

roflmao, sounds like aruba isn’t too fond of the americans that are heading to the happy island.

and then again, maybe Americans aren’t purchasing houses in Aruba because they don’t want anything to do with “one crappy island”?

    11. Maggie on July 25th, 2008 3:01 pm

Who in their right mind would buy a house there now or visit? I believe it was Clint van Zant who said Aruba is the only place you can confess to murder and walk around free.So what other kind is Aruba trying to attract? I will add also sexual stuff while someone is going in and out of conscious. I am so glad Peter DeVries aired the tape of Joran and Patrick. People got to see, the real Joran. Not the one who has a teacher sitting off stage or make up artists and his father and mother sitting off camera, like he’s rehearsing for a movie role.

You can also go visit Michael Posner. Underage drinking and gambling with no consequences as long as you spend, spend , spend. ViP passes and all. Groups trolling for young female American tourists. Oh we did this 20 times before and nothing happened. You could always get a job as a paid liar. Lies and more lies. Sit on the beach and hope another “unknown” set of bones don’t wash up. Watch Paulus become a lawyer, after taking his underage son out drinking and gambling which put the whole night in play.

Natalee was an invited guest into Aruba’s home and everyday I hope and pray these people(they know who they are) have to answer for what they done to this beautiful young lady and her grieving family. At least 3 missing Americans in Aruba , no evidence , not a trace, hmmmmm..

True, Maggie (#11) … but if you like to use drugs, opportunities abound.

And if you like to sell them, Aruba is the place to be!

And at least you won’t have to worry about being accountable for your actions … so long as you have the money to buy your way out.

    14. richard on July 26th, 2008 7:11 am

“I am so glad Peter DeVries aired the tape of Joran and Patrick. People got to see, the real Joran.”

But did people get to see the real Patrick? He likes to portray himself as someone like us, who was morally outraged at the whole sad saga.

That’s how he wants it to appear. But if I remember, he turned to deVries only after the Dutch refused to fork over the money he wanted.

Sounds like the usual stuff from Aruba … pay us off first of all. Anyway, I haven’t heard anything about his book, nor do I care to.

Saw this story today … apparently it’s from South Africa. I have to say, this is hard to believe … people, apparently well-to-do and important in society, drugging women’s drinks and using them, unwittingly, in porn movies.

Nope, just can’t think this can go on.

Why, next thing you know they’ll be saying it could happen in the Caribbean. Even in Aruba.

      Socialites face ‘weird’ drug-porn charges
      2008/07/26

A PROMINENT East London business mogul and his wife are being investigated for producing pornographic films allegedly involving unwitting and drugged employees at their posh home.

This week the Saturday Dispatch reliably learnt of an investigation by the South African Police Service’s (SAPS) Sexual Offences Unit against the couple, who allegedly performed “bizarre” explicit acts with several young women after spiking their drinks with a date-rape drug.

The couple cannot be identified as they have not yet been charged.

A police officer at the unit said the couple’s modus operandi involved inviting unsuspecting women – some of them current and former employees – for dinner to their up-market home before taking “advantage of them”.

“From what we’ve gathered thus far, they would invite guests over and spike their drinks before engaging in the bizarre acts,” said the officer.

According to him, the couple is well known in business circles, own several companies and have a home in one of the city’s swankiest suburbs .

Once the alleged victims were knocked out by the drugs, they were allegedly stripped naked before the couple took turns molesting them on camera.

In some of the footage the wife is allegedly seen performing lewd lesbian acts.

All the filmed action was allegedly stored on the couple’s home computer.

“It’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen,” said the officer, adding that the videos were of an “extremely explicit” nature.

The exploitation of the unsuspecting women apparently took place at their home over a “very long period”.

Their alleged activities were apparently uncovered when one of the victims, who remembered parts of her ordeal, blew the whistle a few months ago.

Most of their victims were in their late teens and early- to mid-twenties.

The police have not yet specified how many alleged victims there were or if all of them were filmed.

Police raided the couple’s home and confiscated their computer and hard drive, from which they allegedly retrieved “the most disturbing pictures”.

“Their hard drives were full of all this explicit porn stuff.

“There were different faces all the time and these ladies were clearly drugged out of their mind,” said the officer.

The hard drives are currently with the police forensic experts and a “thick docket” is with the Director of Public Prosecutions, who is busy compiling a charge sheet.

We never DID find out what was on Joran’s computer, did we? All I know is, that once he was brought in to police, his father took down the Web site that Joran and the Pimps used.

Of course, since PvdScum was a judge, there was nothing bad on that site. We know this, because judges have to follow a code of ethics.

And if they don’t, the government can investigate.

    17. richard on July 26th, 2008 9:45 am

CORRECTION: Sorry for the lapse. PvdScum wasn’t a judge, he was a failed wannabe judge. He learned the week before Natalee got to Aruba that he didn’t pass the test.

Even so, his ethical standards are surely high … at least, as high as those prevailing elsewhere on Aruba.

ray 26….agree with you. most americans who can afford vacations homes abroad will definitely be scrutinizing the places they buy. making careful, educated decisions. and rightfully so. if i had the means, i would not spend one hard earned american dollar on that cesspool of an island. bravo to the americans who are pulling out. hit them where it hurts. in the pocketbook.that’s all they are concerned about anyway is our money.
