Chris Matthews Rips Guest for Historical Ignorance and then Says USS Cole Attack Occurred Under George Bush

Ever wonder what is wrong with the Main stream media? Look no further than MSNBC’s Hard Ball and Chris Matthews as he bashes a guest for not knowing his Neville Chamberlain history and appeasement … “Peace for our time”.

However, as The Newsbusters point out … those that throw stones should not live in glass houses. Or at least work for the MSM where their grasp on historical facts is not among the best either. After ridiculing a Hard Ball guest for ignorance, Chris Mathews then says,  “Wasn’t the USS Cole under Bush? I mean, I don’t know what I’m talking about here.” Ah, no Chris … you scholar you … the attack of the USS Cole took place under Clinton on October 12, 2000.

See the remarks and the video HERE.

Funny, we do not see Chris Matthews ripping into and ridiculing Obama for thinking that there were 57 States. But of course, its MSNBC’s duty to carry the water for Barack Obama. The Obama camp and MSM are in an uproar over GWB’s comments in Israel regarding appeasement of terrorists and Hitler as one in the same.

“We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: ‘Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided.’ We have an obligation to call this what it is—the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.”

One knows you have struck a nerve when Moonbat nation cries foul. This is a real issue for people to ponder for the Fall election. Giving terrorists clout is a form of appeasement. Why would anyone give the Iranian leader credibility by meeting with a US President? What could Mahmoud Ahmadinejad say in person to Obama that his actions have not already shown?

Is it not the case that every USA president since at least FDR has made our bed with despots? The world is a big and dangerious place and that means we shake hands with men and women we might not like because we must cope and live with them. We in the past talked to the USSR, we still talk to China and North Korea. We shook hands with Saddam. We traded with some of the worst despots in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe. Men that made spam of their own people and made torture a standard practice.

Are we and our allies the targets of bombs made in China and Russia? The USSR and now Russia has had us in their gun sights for over 60 years. The China miltary build up is to counter the USA and Russia because she has no other threats.

matthews asks the question if the cole attack happened under bush.
he doesn’t claim it did happen under bush.

      and about those 57 states.
how difficult is it for some people to get a simple joke.
he meant he travelled so much around the states it felt like he had been in more than 50.

    4. Wayne on May 16th, 2008 4:33 pm

That wasn’t a joke about the 57 states it was stupidity. As for the despots we have dealt with, none of them were threatening the destruction of Israel constantly and I do mean constantly. And, please do tell me what kind of journalist ask the listen audience who bombed the Cole. It was just another case of stupitiy.

as for Obama you can take it to the bank that either 1) He agrees with Reverend Wright or 2) worse he was too stupid to realize what the amn’s beliefs and preaching was about. I really don’t know which is worse. I do know this, if you want to vote for somebody with that type of shortcoming then you are putting this country in the greatest jeopardy of its entire history.

#4 – you only have to listen to Michelle and Barack and read Barack’s book to know that regardless of Wright, Obama is a racists.

Yes, I appeased nations in the past. That’s President Bush’s point – the history of appeasement provides us the answer that appeasement, sitting down and talking with lunatics bent on destroying others does not, and never will work.

Obama is a racist and a big fat liar. Bush didn’t call him out for a thing and yet Obama and the rest of the democrat party were sensitive because they know their foolhardy policies are indeed appeasement – pie in the sky – ridiculous.

      @Wayne:

“As for the despots we have dealt with, none of them were threatening the destruction of Israel constantly and I do mean constantly.”

much preased Reagan dealt with Iran.
not only talked to them but sold Iran 1000s TOW anti-tank weapons.
      to free hostages in Lebanon.
      now THAT is appeasement.
ironically they were transported via Israel.
and some of them used in the 2006 Lebanon war against Israel.

      and for stupidity.
McCain keeps getting Sunni and Shia mixed up.
that’s the one of the first things one should know about the middle-east.
for Bush there’s is an endless list of stupidities.
      like calling Australia Austria.
but most stupidities are not harmless unfortunately.

      Barack talk with Ahmadinejad senario:

Barack: You know Amad we really need to talk change here.

Ahmadinejad: Oh yes yes no problem what you need, I have quarters few dimes how much you need?

Barack: No no I mean we have to learn to settle our differenes and live in peace together.

Ahmadinejad: Oh yes of course. I figure by 2010 all will be settled and you will be at peace.

Barack: Well, I think we can set that as a target date. But, well I’ve been meanin to ask you, what’s going on at those power plants Mamoo?

Ahmadinejad: Oh yes yes power it is wonderful thing don’t you agree Mr. President?

Barack: Well “power to the people” I always say. But listen you can call me Barack or Hussein if you’d like. Anyway, so what’s the story with the nuclear? We’d like to know what your plans are? Maybe take a look see.

Ahmadinejad: That’s a possiblilty, perhaps you can send Revrand Farakan over to look. I think he may be a good choice.

Barack: Now now Mamoo let’s be real. In America we can hate without having to destroy. Well, for the most part anyway.

Ahmadinejad: (garbeled) G dam America. That is your view we may differ.

Barack: We are a country of good will. We try to give Aids I mean Aid to those in need.

      Ahmadinejad: Wright right.

Barack: So what do you say Ahmajeehad, time to chuck the WMD’s?

Ahmadinejad: Yes of course having such weapons would be an obamanation.

Barack: That is real that isreal. Anyway, it’s 3:00am and my cell phone is ringing. Please excuse me while I take this call.

Ok for those that have completely missed the point of the post. Earth to those that defend MSM, they have an ear piece that has a direct communication to a producer.

Info is in constant flow back and forth.

If one id going to accuse others of being ignorant they better look in the mirror first.

Mathews is always quick to shoot off his big mouth and cowers when the shoes on the other foot.

#3. Why would Mathews have to ask the question? Which he is not. He is babbling like he usually does in incoherent sentences.

Why wouldn’t Mathews know when it was bombed? If he is going to accuse others of not knowing history, then why doesn’t he?

The Cole happened in 2000, WWII occurred more than 60 years ago. One would think that one would remember the Cole, more recent history.

The Cole was in 2000, about 3 weeks before Bush was elected (not Inauguration). So, yes the Cole was clearly a “Clinton thing”.

However, who was president during a particular event is a tangental fact. Nobody knows all the facts of history, and comparitively few of those are good on-their-feet with the tangents.

I was watching this exchange on the news, and I thought that Matthews went a little overboard. In my opininon he should have just yanked that guy’s mike and cut to commercial. Play/watch the whole clip, it was a travesty to give air time to anyone with so little information on the topic; and one should blame Mathew’s producer for letting that slip through more than anyone else.

Fact is, this guy came on the news accusing Obama of being a WWII-style appeaser and could not give a single example of any appeasement that occured during the run-up to WWII. That is over-the-top ignorance on the topic and THAT is what Mathhews went off on.

Keep in mind that Bush did not come out and say that Obama is a WWII-style appeaser, but THIS GUY DID. He shouted it over the air MANY times before it came to light that this guy did not know what appeasement took place during that time. He HAD NO CLUE At all what it meant to be an appeaser in the context that he was specifically refering to.

I find Chris Mathews to be dork….

… he reminds me a bit of Barney Rubble. LOL

Like so many others, I liked ‘em a lot more when they kept their freakin’ politics to themselves.
