Police Priorities in Aruba …
Here is a sense of priority in Aruba. The police acted faster and made an arrest immediately after former Justice Minister Hendrick Croes was involved in a hit and run incident than they did after Alabama teen Natalee Holloway went missing. Its a good thing that there were not any black security guards near by where the incident took place. However, in Aruba they refuse to make an arrest an prosecution for all the wrong reason.

ORANJESTAD – Lawyer and former Justice-minister Hendrik Croes was taken into custody early this morning for having collided with a police officer on Sunday in the afternoon and failed to stop after the accident. The situation escalated yesterday when police union SPA incited her members to ‘bring everything to a standstill’ if Croes is not arrested. The Public Prosecutor (OM) called on everybody to ‘stay calm’, especially the parties in the labour dispute between the government and the public employees’ unions.
The incident took place on the roundabout of Paradera around 15:00. At that moment, the long autocade that was taking part in the protest of the public employees’ unions against the government was just passing. A total of 120 cars with protesting public servants took part in the auto rally that was accompanied by two police cars. One of the police officers, Edgar Maduro, started to regulate the traffic on the roundabout. He said that at a certain point, he saw a grey car heading for him. When he gave the stop signal, the driver refused to stop. “I was picked off by the car. I opened the car door and held to it, so I couldn’t fall. The car kept on going.” The police officer had several bruises on his ankle, knee, and ribs. Some colleagues took him to the hospital, and he went home after treatments, but had to be admitted later that day.
Croes in the back of the National detective’s car on his way to the bureau, where he’s going to be interrogated. He was taken to KIA a few hours later.
Maduro self didn’t realize that the driver was Hendrik Croes, but the onlookers did. Also the media got wind of the incident real fast and some stations linked the accident to the strike of the public employees as an attempt of the government to break the strike. When Croes, as he said, ‘heard sensational reports about him being accused of attempted murder’, he called chief district attorney Hand Mos to give a statement. He was at that moment at the airport, going on vacation. Chief of police Dolfi Richardson and assistant district attorney Robert Candelaria went to the airport to take Croes’ statement. Croes then decided to stay on the island and no longer set off.
However, a big group of police officers were not satisfied with the fact that Croes was not arrested. Miguel Maduro of union SPA called a special meeting with the members of the union and the other sympathizing officers in the clubhouse Pova. “The law is for everybody. A person that hits and runs is usually arrested right away. This was an attempt to serious assault and even an attempted homicide. I told the chief of police that if Hendrik is not arrested, we will bring everything to a standstill.” Chief of police Peter de Witte was clearly not taken with the threat and told Maduro this later. “The police must act objectively and transparently and let the OM do his job independently.” In order to guarantee the objectivity, he advised the OM to transfer the case to the National-detectives, which indeed happened and Croes was taken to the bureau for interrogation. Based on this interrogation and statements from witnesses, chief district attorney decided to take Croes into custody. He was taken to KIA around 05:00 this morning. He must stay there for at least 48 hours, after which the OM will decide whether to request an extension of the custody with the examining magistrate.
Croes’ son, Eduard has meanwhile indicated that the family is preparing a lawsuit to release Hendrik from custody. Before he was arrested, Croes emotionally declared on TeleAruba that this ‘is not something to laugh about but to cry’. He denies having run down anybody. “I was the third car to get on the roundabout, when a person, if I am not mistaken, wearing a polo shirt and long pants, started to regulate the traffic. I indicated that I was going to the direction of Tanki Leendert and was trying my best to drive around this person.” Croes also doesn’t understand how he could have hit this police officer with his car. I was driving dead slow. I also didn’t know that the person was a police officer. He didn’t identify himself.” Maduro was indeed not in uniform, but he was wearing a badge.
Croes was not happy with certain media’s ‘very sensational reports’. He also referred to a recent incident, where AVP-leader Mike Eman cursed him for his role in the corruption scandal Fondo Desaroyo Nobo. “I do not understand why all this must happen this way.”

I won’t divulge names here … but back when the case first gained prominence and there were Internet groups and such things going, I happened quite by chance to find out that one member lived in the town where I spent much of my adolescence.
We had lived within a few miles of each other, and yet had never heard of each other except in the Natalee group! Needless to say, this matter was remedied.
I’ve met a number of people here at the protest meetings and on related occasions.
Gene just posted that Joran was re-arrested. So let’s see what happens. Remember, though, folks, the issue isn’t only whether he is arrested, but whether he can be kept in jail.
Each time that he is arrested, and then released, the barrier to subsequent arrests goes up. So in a way, it’s much better for him (or, at least, for those who want justice for Natalee) NOT to be arrested unless and until there is convincing evidence. God only knows what that might be for Aruba and the Dutch.
When I say “convincing evidence,” I of course mean to the Arubans and Dutch. Most people have already seen all the evidence they need … but not them. That’s why I’m caviling at the idea that an arrest is automatically good news.

Hey….do you really belive that the folks from Aruba read any of this????? Get real!!!!! Scared? Hell they can’t even vocally, let alone email, let anyone know anything regarding the NH case. They are all afraid for themselves, neighbors, children, grandkids, etc. Such a shame for them all, except for the “slums vds”, including Anita. Too, too, bad.
Whether Joran is arrested, re-arrested, or never arrested again…..it makes NO DIFFERENCE in the court of world opinion. By his own arrogance and boasting confession he has been found guilty by all who witnessed the tapes in Holland. He can no longer travel the world freely, he is recognized by one and all. His punishment, for now, is being shunned by one and all.
Punishment is a mere formality of abhorent actions. One day soon he will receive just formal punishment.

I do think it matters if joran gets re-arrested. He needs to be held accountable for his actions and his ego deflated. I do agree that being shunned is a big punishment for him and he well deserves it.

Wouldn’t be surprised to hear Joran arrested for drugs (which I guess doesn’t happen much in the Netherlands), stealing, date rape, whatever. This guy is in total trouble. He has no way of making an honest living, no one wants him around other than to use him to get his story. He’s a loose cannon and sooner or later he’s going to “go off” again.
Joran is not merely shunned or in “coventry”…he’s hiding out because he’s self proclaimed as guilty and afraid for his cowardly hide…and well he should be. I remember Anita saying something to the effect, “hanging Joran won’t bring Natalee back.” At the time I thought maybe not, but it would be “darn” satisfying! I suspect there are more than a few out there looking for satisfaction.

Well, as I said above … what matters is not, so much, whether they re-arrest Joran and/or others yet again … how many people have been arrested in the last three years?
And how many convictions? NONE.
(Last we knew, Joran was in Germany, if the report is true. I don’t know if it is.)

Well folks, I searched as many places that I could think of and cannot find anything about Joran being arrested. Canal 90 is a radio station. Tried looking in the Dutch newspapers but no word of Joran, at least not yet. If he was arrested, maybe his previous neighbor filed charges, the gal that lived next door to him, the one he threatened. All she asked him to do was turn his music down. Apparently the walls were paper thin and she heard mention of Natalee numerous times. Maybe she overheard a lot…this will more than likely be in Patrick’s book. Patrick couldn’t video tape Joran at his apartment but he could of been wearing a wire….
I think “Joran’s re-arrest” can now be laid to rest as a rumor. Could it be these “rumors” are popping up from time to time so those in Aruba who want it all to go away can test the waters? Check the reaction? Some day in the future they are hoping to drop these little “bombs”, cause no stir, and nobody will notice or comment, and at that time they will be home FREE. So I remain skeptical.

Were Amy the daughter of a high political official, or movie star, all of our national resources would have been poured into the search.
As it is, her family are regular Americans. And the FBI shows little or no interest.

105 richard…..quite right. amy is ( I believe she is alive) the daughter of my high school friends ronnie and iva dean bradley. her disappearance shocked the entire communuity. the similarities of her disappearance to natalees’ are eerie…..the connection being that rat hole carlos and charlies (which i understand they have changed the name since tourism dropped off). i believe amy was taken by some of those drug people that beth speaks of in her book. i’m sure the same disgusting thing goes on in curacao as in aruba. as you say they are from the same dog kennel. i believe amy is alive somewhere but is kept on drugs. addicted for sure by now. she would be 34 years old. same age as my oldest daughter. it breaks my heart every time i read the articles. most of all it frustrates me that no one is making any effort to do anything; not even our own fbi. yet they advertise on their website home page that they investigate “foreign corrupt practices”, “cruise ship crimes”, “human trafficking” all three which fit the case of amy bradley. it’s very frustrating. i can only imagine what beth holloway and iva dean bradley have gone through. being a mother myself, i don’t know where they get the strength to hold on. Hope i guess. and faith. hope and faith.

I have heard of that girl’s disappearance and the speculation that she may still be alive. taken possibly for human trafficking.. similar to what I believe pauulus is involved in.. they have her somewhere as is the case of the many girls taken from islands and cruise ships. these are predators that lie in wait for someone that fits the bill and they wait for the right time to kidnap. I believe that people that work on cruise ships are paid to either tell of prospective females to the perpetrators and are told to turn their head the other way.. theres no way someone can disappear like that without notice.. pauulus if you look at him …looks seedy… theres an evilness that permeates from him.. I have two grown daughters. If something like that happened to them I believe I would loose my mind.

The effect of America’s BOYCOTT of Aruba just warms my heart. Every time I think we Americans who cherish freedom and justice get another absurd piece of news from Aruba….I re-read that February 2008 article from Boycott Watch, and I feel renewed again. In case anyone missed a part of it….here’s a short cut of the openning for your reading pleasure:
“Today, Dutch News reported that Aruba has lost tens of millions of dollars due to the Natalee Holloway inspired boycott of Aruba.
The report states: “The disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway and the ensuing police investigation has cost the former Dutch colony of Aruba tens of millions of dollars in lost income from American tourists.”
“The comment was made by the island’s prime minister Nelson Oduber on the Dutch tv current affairs show Nova on Tuesday evening. Aruba’s economy depends for 70% on US tourists, he said.”
Boycott Watch has previously reported that Aruba has been trying to cover up their tourism losses and we have little confidence in their current projections of growth. At the moment, the family vacationers are avoiding Aruba for the same reason Spring Breakers are going there – Aruba looks the other way at underage drinking, rampant and easy access to drugs and the lack of any real safety and police enforcement.”
This was written just days before Joran’s public confession that was aired in Holland, around the world, and later by ABC Television. Since that time, Americans reaction has caused Aruba’s tourism to completely sink into the toilet. Even their participation at several U.S. Travel shows resulted in no business to speak of, and was an abject failure. In St. Louis, their booth was abandoned and un-manned from all accounts.
The 2008 BOYCOTT effort has just begun in earnest, and the visible effects on the Winter season already appears to be disasterous for their economic well being. Informal polling of local travel agents in the New York market was likewise heart warming…..Aruba as a destination is NOT being “sold to customers”. If a customer specifically states he/she chooses to travel to Aruba, their request is completed with a smile, outwise recommendation is made for other destinations. In some ways this passive agreement to recognize Aruba’s open sins matches comments made by local Police and Security personnel at recent Travel shows. Aruba is being both silently and vocally BOYCOTTED by everyone.
All it’s going to take is honesty and Justice for a cowardly act. Aruba is simply stuck on stupid and they WILL pay the price.

I won’t be able to post much, but I thought I would at least drop by.
I’ve been a lifetime treasure hunter. The area of the country I lived in as a child has an abundance of legends. I feel in my heart that at least two of the legends are true, and the search for the richer of the two has been an obsession since age 4.
The first treasure, and my obsession, I’ve never found any clues, sings maps or anything, with the exception of a map that a very old and dying cowboy drew for me It turned out to be a hoax (the map that is, the treasure is real). In my heart, I know where it is hidden.
To the second treasure, I’ve found a clue. It was there for over two hundred years (it will be there at least another 200 years). I just don’t know what it means or where it leads. I’ve searched a thousand directions. They are all dead ends.
And so, and so, now we have Natalee. Natalee is a treasure. All the clues to the treasure are there, rather they were there.
If I can find a clue to a 200-year treasure, why can’t I find a clue to Natalee? Answer, I have, Beth has, Dave has, Viet Vet has, and we all have. Problem is the clues have been destroyed, hidden, manipulated by people who should have been helping.
We found all the clues. They lead to the treasure; they lead to the one who took the treasure. The pompous prince of Aruba took the treasure. He told the world he took the treasure.
If we had a video of the prince taking the treasure, and hiding her in the sea, it would make no difference. The prince is protected. The prince is royalty. The prince has drawn a lot of maps to the treasure. None are true. The only truth he has told is that, yes, he did take the treasure.

page 78…..i do not read where jacobs directly calls natalee anything but i think crossbow may be referring to paragraph 3 where he tells jug “Oh, you don’t have to worry about that. we have puntas for sex. the drug addicts don’t take the tourists for sex, just for money”. puntas being the whores on the island. chapter 4 describes the government controlled drug scene…….yes, the government controls their addicts. it’s unbelievable, almost like something out of a movie but beth is describing what she sees as they search for Natalee. the government lets them have drugs and provides them shelters, protects them, only if they stay away from the tourists. women, men, children smoking crack openly on the streets of their little “drug area” of the island.walking around like zombies. my feelings are that there is a whole lot more to this cesspool of an island than meets the eye. and the government corruption is so widespread that anyone and everyone with an ounce of so-called power is involved. the judges have power over the officers. interesting. judge paulus has power of van der straten, jacobs, dompig……the boook makes it very clear where the power is and what happens to the people who disobey the power. my gosh, they even threatened beth if she kept speaking up about things she uncovered.
my favorite part is in chapter 9 pages 148-151hen beth and greta van susteren visit paulus and anita at their home. beth starts questioning paulus. he starts shaking and sweating like the stuffed pig he is. he won’t even look at her. holds his head down. when beth begins to leave she gives him a prayer bracelet and explains what the 3 cords of yarn represent. she is truly a classy woman.
i could ramble on and on but i won’t.
you must read these two books. you will not be sorry. you will cry right along with beth, you will get angry right along with beth and dave but most of all the reaction that i felt the most was total frustration and a feeling of helplessness. god bless beth and dave. god bless you natalee wherever you are.
Lets all hold Beth and Dave in our hearts this Easter weekend..My heart still breaks for them and for what Natalee could have been, should have been…Keep the faith. Lieruba is suffering and things MUST change…

I read SM almost daily, but almost never post. Today I enjoyed Bob’s Boycott update – very uplifting!
Would love to see a few strategically placed billboards put up in Aruba, with “real time” rolling meter showing Aruba’s US tourism dollars now being lost thanks to urine & paulass, with a little help from their “friends” in low places.
Maybe that bit of stark realism would move the Aruban people to wage a protest until “Justice for Natalee” prevails. None of this is likely of course, but it doesn’t hurt to dream on occasion!

they finally found the body of the young girl where i live….she has been missing since last November….I saw her (my vision) in the river, but down south a ways, they found her dragged up from the same river (they think by animals) but further north…..I guess I cant count this one, but am glad her family has her back and can give her a proper buriel….go with God Cori…..
