The disappearance and search for Natalee Holloway in Aruba
It was the beginning of a quest that would transform two parents from small town America into international investigators, who even today are trying to answer the question: what happened to Natalee?
Part 1 – FULL TRANSCRIPT
Beth Holloway: I was excited the Mountain Brook students had been there the previous two years. Even my step-son — the year 2003. And there were going to be over 150 plus classmates. So, we felt like, you know, there’s safety in numbers.
She felt good about it except for one troubling piece of information about a nightspot down there, a bar called Carlos ‘n Charlie’s.
Beth Holloway: My step-son had had an encounter at Carlos ‘n Charlie’s during 2003.
Chris Hansen: During his senior class trip?
Beth Holloway: Yes– yeah. Tere were some locals there. And they
had coaxed some young females into leaving the establishment with them… and he stepped in at the last minute because just didn’t feel good about the situation, you know, with them–
….
Beth Holloway: I knew instantly when I received that call that just from Natalee’s history and character and just her record, I– I knew instantly that she’d either been kidnapped or murdered. There was no hesitation. Absolutely none– absolutely none.
She raced towards home and frantically called 911.
Beth Holloway: I’m saying, “My daughter’s been kidnapped or murdered in Aruba. Help me. I need some help, you know?” And then
the calls turned into I’m calling 911 and I’m telling them I’m driving a 120 miles an hour down the interstate and don’t anybody stop me.
She finally did get pulled over — and a state trooper got her in touch with the FBI.
Back at his home in Mississippi, Dave Holloway also got the frightening news:

And the lead detective, he told me that he would have to have a shave. And he rubbed his cheeks, and his stretched his arms down to his large stomach and said he would have to have his Frosted Flakes first before he could deal with me.
And then, after two hours, he came out and said that he’d changed his mind. That he didn’t need to meet with us after all. (Beth Holloway)
Beth Holloway: So, all I did was give this little bit of information to the nighttime manager and she knew instantly who he was.Chris Hansen: And who was he?Beth Holloway: She said, “Oh, that’s Joran Van der Sloot and he’s — 17. No, he’s a local here. No, he hangs out here.Now that they knew his full name Beth wanted to put a face on it.She asked to see the casino security videotape.And as she watched it play, she was on the phone with her step-nephew, who had been on the trip, and had sat next to Joran in the casino the night before.…“We’ve got the car. And we’ve got the address.”Joran Van der Sloot’s address.Minutes later the group from Alabama was arriving at his family’s home.While Beth sat in the car her friends from home grilled Joran, pressing him for details about what happened after he and Natalee left the bar.Beth Holloway: The words that he uses are sexually explicit and graphically detailed of what he is engaging in. The conduct he’s engaging in with Natalee in the backseat of the car.…Dave Holloway: On June 1.Chris Hansen: From the get go.Dave Holloway: He said “A lot of these girls come to the island, they miss their flights. She’ll show up in a few days.”Chris Hansen: In a few days.Dave Holloway: Yeah. Says, “She’s probably out just partying. A lot of them will come here and get hooked up with a drug dealer. They’ll be under drugs for awhile.”Chris Hansen: How did you respond to that?Dave Holloway: I said, “that’s not my daughter.”Both parents felt nearly paralyzed with fear, but they did keep moving.The next day Beth was back at the police station and this time the detective had questions for her.Beth Holloway: He asked me if Natalee ever had a history of seizures or epilepsy? And I said, “No.”Chris Hansen: Did you think that was odd? At the time?Beth Holloway: No, I just thought, “Why are you asking that?”Beth Holloway Twitty says she didn’t understand the significance of that question at the time and wouldn’t for more than two years. But soon after that question was posed to her, there were arrests in the case. Just not who she thought.A week after Natalee’s disappearance, two Holiday Inn security guards were taken into custody. I was just wondering, They didn’t mention it in the Dateline story on Friday 2/22 with Chris Hansen, But the story about the Hoax, a guy contacts Dave Holloway and tells him that someone paid to get Natalees body off the island of Aruba, and this guy comes forward and meets with Tim Miller and tells him he has the body of Natalee and he will deliver it to Tim Miller and then no one hears from this guy again. Well I’m just wondering if this wasnt a Hoax maybe there is a reason why this guy never contacted the Holloways again maybe he was killed? Did this guy ever email Dave again? or did Dave email him again and ever check if his email was read? that might tell you something is wrong? I just find it hard to believe that this guy puts himself out there shows up and has all these details that are so promising and then just leaves it at that? I find it strange and suspicous. God Bless Natalee I pray everyday that She is found~ Keep up the good work!!

The small thumbnail pic that took me to this site and article is also in the article and it is of a blowup raft type boat with 3 people in it. The person in the middle of the raft appears to be female with long hair clearly in between 2 men.
So it might be a stretch, but nothing should go unchecked these days…so Carpe…or anyone….can you do a blowup of the small pic to see who is in it better?

Finally, finally, the story is in the mainstream media. I wished they had mentioned the fact that Paulus is highly suspect as well; however, I was glad to see the story of corruption in the mainstream media as opposed to just this wonderful blog and cable channels. I also felt that Beth spoke in the most forceful manner as she has thus far in the media. I was glad to see that, too. These parents are dedicated and honorable. As is Tim Miller and those on the Persistance. Unbelievable that it has been three years.

I don’t believe that photo is anything other than a stock photo used as a filler for the site posting format.
If you look at all the other posts you see a similarly sized photo in the same spot. The photos seem to be general images of the subject at hand.
I don’t read Dutch, but I can generally wade through it using my German vocabulary.
It seems to say that Daury says he didn’t have a boat and was also in Holland at the time of the incident.
It also looks like Daury confronted Joran on a chat site about why he named him on the show and Joran just made up wild (??) excuses. Daury says he knew Joran but wasn’t a friend of his.
Again, my take is that the photo is a stock image that is used to add imagery to the boat story Joran told and in no way relates to a real image of Natalee.

An idea: De Vries can give the Kalpoes 1 million each to tell the truth on tape. De Vries sells the tape to Dateline recouping his money. I think it can be done if the Kalpoes can be given immunity or if the Kalpoes can’t be extradited back to Aruba.
Right now I am so angry with those Aruban Officials. They are as bad if not worse than the Vandersloots. Why, if they are not involved in this would they go out of their way to antagonize a family who has lost a child? Those are the most evil people I have ever heard of. I certainly want to see justice done, as it is not healthy to have the thoughts one has when evil is seeming to prevail in this case. Dateline’s show was seen across the USA and in Europe – it is not cable TV that has limited exposure. Did you enjoy the show?
Why has Carlos ‘n Charlie’s not at least been fined or shut down for serving minors? After all, Joran was a minor and freely admits to buying a drink there for Natalee? Also, what about the casinos he was gambling at – with his father, no less? Wasn’t Joran underage? Aren’t there fines, at least, to the casinos for allowing underage gamblers in their establishments? Here in the USA, you can’t even enter the casinos if you are underage? I know, my son tried to use the slot machines in Las Vegas and was thrown out and told he couldn’t even walk through the casinos.

After the videotaped confession come out, I have to say I thought Joran would probably go ahead and work out some kind of deal for committing the crime of illegal disposal, with time served, probably no jail time, and the whole thing would bascially be over. Mystery solved (in many people’s eyes), Aruba off the hook, life goes on. The fact that he didn’t is further proof that there is a whole lot more to this case than illegal disposal of a body. Why pass up the perfect opportunity to end this whole thing? Joran would have benefitted more from standing by his confession, I think, and making a deal on the illegal disposal charge. They are protecting more than just Joran, I think.

In my opinion, the “in and out of consciousness, may have been part of the seizure. I still believe that she was hit in the head, and laid passed out on the beach til the truck got there.
But, IF Joran had told the Police that she had had a seizure, why didn’t they press harder on him? Especially, after hearing from her Parents that she never had seizures. Lying is a sign of guilt, and if she had had a seizure, there are many things that could have brought it on and she may have required hospitalization.

A man from Jamaica visited with me yesterday. He said that there is a tribe called Arawak and that they were on Jamaica at one time. He wasn’t sure what happened to them; he said his grandfather would know.
Knowing the history of Arawak, he said that the whole island of people would’ve known what was going to happen to Natalee… but no one, or very few would try to tell. However, with a corrupt police department; anyone that would tell would probably come up dead or missing.
How many people died in mysterious ways, after the dissappearance of Natalee? 10? 20? 30? 40? Certainly, enough to make me believe the things he told me.

This whole case just rips my heart out. I cannot express enough that jvds is a pig and its quite obvious that he lies. His story went from leaving Natalee at her hotel, to leaving her by the lighthouse, and now he had a friend dump her body at sea!! Any judge that gave a damn would see that this boy (boy because no real MAN would do such a thing) is lying. To me it sounds like Aruba has the “all for one and one for all” policy. Had the same thing happend in the US and an aruban girl went missing from a vacation spot here, it would be totally different.They would have sent every resource they had to the US and they would have ripped at every person til they got answers. But Natalee disappears and its as if someone lost a dog to them. Beth Twitty wrote in her book that she saw a statement from one of the suspects ripped up and thrown in the trash, in the office of the police department. What did that statement say? Ashley, I remember, when reading off what Beth saw in the police station (statement of JVS) I thought the first thing i would have done was slip the torn statement into my bra!!!!! they could have sent it back to the US for translation, I think this was a missed golden opportunity, granted at that point the family had no idea the authorities were working AGAINST the investigation!!!
