Steroids in Baseball … Roger Clemens Sues Former Trainer Brian McNamee for Defamation

What was the inevitable fall out of the Mitchell Report and the fact that Roger Clemens name was mentioned so prominently? A law suit of course. According to reports, the law suit was filed prior to Clemens’ appearance on 60 Minutes. What will be the inevitable result of Roger’s comments Sunday night? Most probably a counter suit by McNamee’s attorneys against Clemens. Read the full transcript of the Roger Clemens interview on 60 Minutes HERE.

And the wheel of did Roger, did Roger not use steroids and HGH goes around and around. Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee are also reported to have had a telephone conversation on Friday night. Wouldn’t everyone have liked to have been a fly on the wall for that phone call? Of course with the number of taped phone call conversations these days, we may just be hearing it in the future.

Roger Clemens filed a defamation suit against former personal trainer Brian McNamee in Texas state court Sunday night, according to the Houston Chronicle, just before his interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes” was about to air.

Clemens claims McNamee was threatened with jail if he didn’t connect the pitcher to steroids, according to the suit, the Chronicle reported on its Web site early Monday. The suit was filed in Harris County civil courts, the paper said. “All of McNamee’s accusations are false and defamatory per se,” the lawsuit said, according to the Chronicle. “They injured Clemens’ reputation and exposed him to public hatred, contempt, ridicule, and financial injury. McNamee made the allegations with actual malice, knowing they were false.” (FOX NEWS)

Clemens refutes former trainer’s claims, might not sue

UPDATE: Clemens has News Conference

Well who did not see this coming a mile away? What was the comment that we made earlier today regarding the telephone conversation between Clemens and McNamee … “Of course with the number of taped phone call conversations these days, we may just be hearing it in the future”. Clemens and his lawyer did not disappoint. At todays press conference they played that very same confersation as Clemens taped the call.

SO very SAD and these are the men and women that our children look up too ?
These are the players that we as a country are so enamored with that we pay Hundreds (if not more ) to go see play buy their over priced jerseys, Caps and other things that make them and their millionaire team owners even more money ?
Our we really that stupid in our values and in that need of entertainment ?
If I did go to a lot of sports games they sure wouldn’t be pro sports it would be Little league or Tee Ball games to root and cheer on the smaller kids players so that they would see that they CAN still get cheers and an atta Boy or Girl even just for playing the game even if the player struck out EVERY Time I would still Thank them for NOT quiting and finishing the Game .
To me these kids that try and keep on trying are the heroes and should enjoy some of the millions that these drug induced players now get .
Just my own opinion of what is right and wrong Jerry from Ohio .

What is incredibly sad about this is all the young men who play the game the right way, without performance boosters and steroids. Year after year going to try-outs in Phoenix, Arizona having no idea that they are mere humans competing against hybrids. It doesn’t matter if it’s little league, pee-wee or the pros; it hurts when you don’t make the cut.

Baseball is as American as apple pie and the players need to be assured that they are playing on a level field. In a game where everything is scrutinized to determine its’ legality, it is overwhelming that there would be those that cheat their way on to the field and someone else off.

Athletics, whether it be baseball, basketball or soccer, is all about being sound, fit and ready to play the game… the right way, naturally.

Roger Clemens is lying through his TEETH. Here is an athlete with one of MLB’s BIGGEST ego’s of all time. He is completely overrated, but once was one of the best Pitchers in the league.

He has made several comments to the media over the years that truly are ignorant and egotistical….ROGER GET OVER YOURSELF! He has used steroids and now should be disqualified from the league since he probably wouldn’t have lasted this long without performance boosting drugs.

What a loser! With a really BIG mouth………
