Aruba Sees Tremendous Decrease in Cruise Ship Tourism in 2007

Cruise ship tourism has decreased drastically to Aruba in 2007. For an island that Arrow_downhas experienced a lull in tourism over the past couple of years, they can hardly stand to experience any more losses.

Cruises generally offer an opportunity for tourists to see multiple locations and provide a glimpse of what a vacation location has to offer. Obviously if people are not even going to Aruba on cruises, that potential form of hotel stay tourism marketing is out the window.

17 Cruise ships visited Aruba this year in October, which is 44.4 percent less. The number of passengers was 25.858, 45.2 percent less.  Up till November in 2007, 316 cruise ships visited Aruba and the number of passengers was approximately 474.000, considering 1500 passengers per ship; a decrease of approximately 20 percent.

The truth of the matter is that Aruba really does not have all that much to offer many tourists. That coupled with the negative publicity from the Natalee Holloway case, many tourists go elsewhere to spend their money. People are making an individual choice not to go to Aruba.

CBA: Considerable decrease in cruise tourism

The Carnival Destiny came for the last time to Aruba in January.  The cruise ship used to bring more than 1000 tourists to the island.  But according to statistics, the arrival of other ships did not compensate the loss of these tourists.

ORANJESTAD – In the growth/drop percentages, a comparison is always made with the same period a year before.  The average hotel occupancy shows a growth of 2.4 percent in October of this year and increased to 75.9 percent, announced the Central Bank of Aruba in her monthly report.  The Cruise Tourism Authority (CTA) shows on the other hand a considerable decrease of the number of cruise ships and cruise passengers that visited Aruba in October of this year.

The money quantity decreased again with 20.3 percent in October to 2.531.4 million florins.  The percentage of the decrease for just October was 0.8 percent.  The bank claims on the private-sector increased with 12.9 millions.  The business loans (12.5 millions) as well as mortgages (2.7 millions) increased in October, but the claims resulting from consumer credits decreased with 1.7 million florins (0.3 percent). Hope the Aruba Tourism Authority took films of those 17 ships in October, it’ll make for a nice rememberance of the “good old days” in their 3 book library.

We have an ACTIVE email campaign that is bombarding ALL cruise ship lines, major airlines, and major travel agency headquarters every day alerting them all that those businesses who might advertise and promote any kind of positive spin to the effect that ARUBA may be a choice vacation destination, will ALSO be BOYCOTTED in the furure by American customers. A new blitz will be started to the member of the public companies who have Boards of Directors. Why advertise, promote, and support ANY “tourist destination” that does not protect its customers, and INSULTS a victims family?

I expect that 2008 will see less than 5 ships in the Aruba Port. That will be a nice economic gift for those overpriced stores in town that used to pawn off poor quality jewelry and other pricey gift items as though they were top notch Duty Free bargains.

Right in the pocket book, that’s where you’ll feel it. Nothing personal, it’s just business.

    2. Richard on December 16th, 2007 4:37 pm

Yes, by all means boycott Aruba. Let’s hope Persistence finds Natalee Holloway and can further expose them for the cover up of the brutal murder of this beautiful young woman and not, “the girl” as she is often referred to by the Aruban people.

She had a life and so much potential!

Let’s put Aruba into a recession they will never forget. They have sorely underestimated the spirit of Americans. I hope the Vandersloots are worth it cause they are sure going to feel it.

    4. brie on December 16th, 2007 5:00 pm

As Jossy said, this last blunder made Aruba the laughing stock of people everywhere, nationally and internationally. Rudy Croes can’t even find his face. Oduber and the Aruban authorities only protect themselves and do not take the independent Aruban people to heart. People remain in silence and are afraid to speak up for fear of the gov’t.

Can you imagine what Beth and Dave were up against in Aruba, especially being from a foreign country.

    5. Stormy on December 16th, 2007 5:33 pm

This is wonderful news …People are making a good choice…Since the laws of the land are not compatible to ours there is no safety for a trip to Aruba.
Until the disaperance of Natalie Holloway is solved and her murderers are punished Americans should boycott Aruba. This is the only way we can properly sympathize with the victims family.

    6. nurturer on December 16th, 2007 6:08 pm

I finished Beth’s book yesterday. All it did was make me even more angry. Dennis Jacobs needs a kick in his fat ass.

More word needs to get out at how cruelly the Aruban LE entertained themselves by watching the Holloway-Twittys to run in desperate circles looking for their missing relative.

      SCUM OF THE EARTH.

I told a Peruvian penpal of mine about the Holloway story. To which I could tell, she became VERY angry. What I want to do is get a Spanish version of Beth’s book to her, and for her to pass it on when she’s finished, so others can get the message. I’ve also sent a copy to my folks for Xmas. More people need to know.

BOYCOTT ARUBA – NOW MORE THAN EVER.

    7. Melissa on December 16th, 2007 6:16 pm

This site put all the wrong things that happend in Aruba, but if they should make one of the U.S their isn’t enough place to put the info. of Us. How many murders happend every day in us.. how many children are missing.??? Before you judge a place see yours first!

    8. Bob on December 16th, 2007 6:51 pm

I still like the YOUTUBE scenario. A repeating expose’ about ARUBA’s indifference to the safety of money spending tourists, their utter disregard to helping a victim’s family in need, the obvious cover-up and inaction by and at the direction of HIGH members of the island’s GOVERNMENT. The far reaching disgraceful squashing of the Dutch “prosecutor” pony show (what a childish-sick joke of an abortion that turned out to be).

What is MIND boggeling, is that the “leaders” on ARUBA have absolutely ZERO understanding that ARUBA has been made into the NUMBER ONE laughingstock country in the world community. I will do my best to contact every State and local municipality in the United States where the Aruban Tourist Bureaus maintains or applies for a retail office space. The owners of the office space will also be contacted, and well as licensing authories. Let’s check all permits and offices for license, water, electric and garbage disposal violations.

The payback has only just begun. Nothing personal, it’s just business.

All to protect a POS like Joran? I don’t think so.

Look for 2 U.S. Airlines to eliminate service to Aruba in 08. Jetblue not being one of them.

It’s only just begun. Nice leadership when you hire Tacopina to be the new face of Aruba.

    11. Allan on December 16th, 2007 7:18 pm

      Melissa
I knew if I listened long enough their would finally be good news from Aruba. Why do you compare Aruba to USA murders? We are not dependent on your travel here. Also their is not one good thing the investigation did right that we could talk about. Maybe Joran and Paulus will be able to tell what happened now but I doubt it. It isn’t a moral scruple in the whole family. Everybody knows Aruba is going to go into a recession and finally biting the dust. By the way- So be it.

    12. Pearl on December 16th, 2007 7:19 pm

The story of Natalee Holloway warrents that her truth be told, her voice be heard, and that this child be granted the integrity and honor of an INVESTIGATION. That much was her human right, and it has yet to be given to her and to her family.

There was no investigation when Natalee was reported missing. What ensued was a depraved, corrupt cover-up.

Those involved in this depravity cannot silence this child’s voice!

Her story will be told, her voice will be heard, and her truth will be returned to her family.

Americans deserve to be warned that tourism properties in Aruba, were used – with the knowledge of those tourist attractions AND Aruban police, that allowed predators in Aruba, to gang up on a defenseless, unsuspecting child, where Natalee was lied to, and told by predators that they were “fellow guests and tourists” staying at her hotel. And none of this was of any interest or concern to the Aruban police officials charged with directing an “investigation” to find her.
These predators ganged up on this child, using tourist attractions with the full knowledge of police and various others from the tourist facilities, who did nothing to protect Natalee from their insidious depravity. They let these men gang up on her – knowing they were preying on tourists at various tourist sites. With full knowledge, they allowed what became the kidnapping, gang rape and murder of a defenseless child! And their response to this insidiousness, was to participate in more evil, by covering up the most ugly indifference ever inflicted upon a trusting tourist.

There can be no notion of safe travel where corruption and depravity are the official Aruban response to a savagery inflicted upon a tourist.
And corruption and depravity are exactly what those charged and entrusted with INVESTIGATING – engaged in. Someone directed this savagery. Someone conspired to crush this child’s truth.
And the island of Aruba must be held accountable and responsible for the outrageous human rights violations inflicted upon Natalee Holloway and her family.

These predators and their co-conspirators lied to the media suggesting that Natalee could have returned to her hotel room by some other means, or that some other “fate” other than the ugly depraved one she encountered in the presence of Joran, Paulus, Deepak and Satish and those with whom they conspired – must have led to the reason why she can no longer be found!

The ugliness of depravity is exposed for all to see! And no amount of twisted lying can ever convince anyone that the very point specifically identified as the “drop off” point, has somehow now become the “new” location to “look” for Natalee without examining why all the lies were told to begin with? Why the false security guard?
Who was Aruba’s police officials protecting, and what?

Just think what this means: Police officials in Aruba were party to a coverup of criminal conduct that involved predators plotting to single out Natalee for the purpose of kidnapping her, and gang raping her, and then – they murdered her, with an official response by the Aruban government that claimed the confession to KILLING HER, as being nothing more than a “mis-information” campaign!!!

Aruba is not a safe travel destination because it is contaminated with depraved leadership, and corrupt individuals who control a sinking infrastructure, ruled by savagery, criminal conduct, and depraved corruption.

That cannot possibly be deemed as being “safe” for travelers. Period.

Aruba needs to be placed on a traveler’s warning list that protects unsuspecting travelers from the depths of hell that exist on that island, where corruption is the “rule” of lawless men, and where depravity is the response to a savagery inflicted upon a trusting tourist – a child, and her helpless family who begged for assistance in finding their baby!

Voices across the world need to unite against this depravity.

And our response will be that of hope for Natlaee and Persistence to honor her good name!

      JUSTICE FOR NATALEE HOLLOWAY!

HOPE FOR NATALEE AND HER FAMILY!

PERSISTENCE THROUGH INTEGRITY, HONOR, AND JUSTICE!

The economy of the USA is beginning cool off. In the year 2000 and 2001 the economy of the USA took a dip and the economy of aruba took a even bigger dip. This was according to numbers posted on aruba’s own website.

    23. katablog on December 17th, 2007 12:13 am

#22 the USA economy always takes a good dip before an election. Unfortunately, because the candidates have started campaigning early, the economy was hurt a bit. But, other than the subprimes, retailers saw that the economy is not near as bad as politicians have been trying to feed the patsy news media.

I’m hearing retail numbers are up for Christmas shopping.

Hubby and I decided at the last minute to do a vacation at the end of the year. As I looked around, everywhere were travel sites attempting to help Aruba unload their hotel rooms (at a discount in high season no less). It’s the one place in the Caribbean that has openings at this late date.

Of course – we passed on all the discounted hotel rooms in Aruba. Couldn’t find what we wanted open in the Caribbean so we’ve going to a great resort in Cabo.

All this cover-up, this extensive network of people and lies for a cheesy would-be judge, his delinquint son and a couple of funksters? There is something much bigger being protected here, like organized crime of some sort. Perhaps Paulus has called in some favors, but I think it likely that Paulus and the boys (or some subset) will eventually be done in by the very people who are now protecting them. They are a big liability. Perhaps they will also disappear…

    27. Patti on December 17th, 2007 1:24 am

      Richard:

Do you know how long Aruba has been on the list of destinations for the Cruise Line Companies? I don’t think cruise ships have been going there for very long. I went there in 2001 and don’t, really, remember it being on the list before that.

Anyway, we have three Americans that have gone “missing” on Aruba in recent years… a little boy, a grown man and Natalee. By missing, I mean they disappeared, without a trace. It’s good to see their tragedies reflected in the numbers, above.

I think it’s time we get to the bottom of ‘Aruba’

Don’t let some seasonal advertising get you excited. From various reports, MANY planes destined for Aruba actually have EMPTY seats. That’s a complete turnaround from a few years ago when vacationers had to sweat out getting reservations. Times have changed, people are better informed, they are making other choices for destinations. The Holloway travesty is common knowlege everywhere and MANY people have said to themselvess: “isn’t that where that girl was murdered and the Government covered it up? I saw that on TV, they did nothing. I don’t think we should go there…….”

We have sent messages to Colleges & Universities asking them not to post Ads for Spring Break for their students. This will be a weekly mailing, we can counter anything AHTA throws.

Thanks for the post. Aruba just has not learned the laws of nature. If you have a bad reputation, it won’t go away, unless you repent and settle the wrong doing.

I looked yesterday, and it was another empty day on the beaches in Aruba. The word is out….Aruba cannot provide justice to it’s visitors. Crime happens every where. But crime that is not punished and solved is worse than the crime itself esp, if there is a massive cover up.
Everyone knows that no place is absolutely safe, but there is a security knowing that if your loved one is hurt the law will be on the side of the victim……..not the perps.

Natalee’s Freebirds…In light of recent actions by the judiciary in this case, we felt another look at the judges past actions was warranted. Justice Wit is a judge for the Caribbean Court of Justice. There is a list of the Code of Ethics Justice Wit obviously violated.

One of the violations by Wit,was as seen by his presence at the Van der Sloot home prior to the searches arriving. Both Ben(Voc)King and Paulus Van de Sloot are members of the legal profession.

1.3 A judge shall avoid close personal association with individual members of the legal profession, particulary those who practice in the judge’s court, where such association might reasonably give rise to the suspicion or appearance of favoritism or partiality.

But it’s not very important. I just want to note it here in case “Richard” starts bashing Beth and Dave, or some such crap, that there’s an imposter about.

Getting to what DOES matter, the cruise ships are also a sleazy business. But I’ve read that they regard the Caribbean as a kind of bottom-fishing business; it’s the European and, increasingly, the Asian markets where the money is for them.

I think they’re pinning their hopes on the Asian economies.

But whatever they do, and whatever the airlines do, let’s keep letting people know the truth about Aruba. If trips to Aruba are discounted by 75%, that says something, doesn’t it? Never mind the crap that the Aruban trolls come here and throw out … they don’t seem to have any ideas except that there is crime in the U.S. too.

BTW, I sent Red a press release today … a New Hampshire-based timeshare company is allowing members of the Texas Equusearch team who are taking part in the water search to stay at properties listed with them. It’s good to see SOMEONE in America (besides ourselves) taking an active role ….

Imagine the hullaballoo there would be if some senator’s family member were missing.

      Ah, well….

    49. Richard on December 17th, 2007 2:00 pm

Patti (#27) … I can’t answer that question. I do know that in 1998 the Royal Caribbean cruise ship on which the Bradley family were traveling stopped in Aruba. Members of the crew wanted to bring Amy Bradley to Carlos ‘n’ Charlies; she declined to go anywhere with “those creeps.”

She vanished from the ship the next day in Curacao.

To Nurturer (and All Decisive Posters),

IDEA: We all have occasion to visit many, many places in our day to day (barbershops, salons, medical/dental offices, hospital waiting rooms, etc.). How about getting a copy of Beth’s book (either buying or borrowing from a library) and “forgetting” it in the waiting rooms.

If you’re using a borrowed library book, it would be worth the overdue book fees for a few days. Even if a person in the waiting room doesn’t get to finish the book, it will definitely charge them up to find out more/discuss/make better decisions as consumers and businesspeople (and to spread the word further). More people should make conscious decisions to not visit or do business there with such efforts.

Anyone who has a “new spin” to add to my idea, PLEASE FEEL FREE, but you’ve got TO ACT.

      I’ve already started.

      Fitting Name for the vessel…Persistence……
This is what the Holloways have been practicing…since June 2005

My thoughts are with all, to bring Natalee home.

    56. brie on December 17th, 2007 4:58 pm

I would think that the ship’s captain already knows where he is permitted to search. However, you don’t know what kind of interference they might try to cause. For one they can never leave that ship unattended so not everyone will be able to stay at the condo. At least not all at the same time. And two they need to be very careful on the island.

Think you’ll see Joran on the beach with his binoculars.

Wonder what the judges and Paulus are planning if we do find Natalee. Which I desperately hope we will!

I’m also wondering what could happened if she’s found. Since Natalee being an American and was found by Americans in international waters. Knowing she disappeared on Aruba, could we bring that case to the US?

    57. brie on December 17th, 2007 5:24 pm

Excellent name…Persistence…it couldn’t be more fitting..especially for this search.

I’m sure Beth and Dave are so grateful.

Aruba was not counting on this happening.

    58. I Love America on December 17th, 2007 5:26 pm

#56: That is a good question! That would be the ultimate answer to a prayer…if the case can be brought to the US!

Pray for it to be so!

    59. Bob on December 17th, 2007 5:36 pm

Confirmed…….the Search HAS begun. Perhaps Greta will rent a snorkel raft and take a mini-cam crew out to cover the endeavors.

    60. mommytraveler on December 17th, 2007 5:45 pm

Has anybody really found out if they are, indeed, looking in international waters?

    61. Bob on December 17th, 2007 5:45 pm

      #56, brie

Regarding finding and retrieval, you can bet that after a “finding” in the water occurs, nothing will be brought to the surface UNTIL there is confirmation by the diving team and mini-sub. I would think, given the world-wide publicity of this case, every step will be filmed as it happens for legal reasons. Announcement of a finding however CAN be made BEFORE a trap/cage may be raised to the surface. Whether it would be shown live via TV or other medium remains to be seen. I think many considerations have long been discussed and will be acted upon based on the ‘condition of any sighted remains’ in the device.

Let’s not worry about the next steps, let’s just pray for success with the first step – finding Natalee.

    62. brie on December 17th, 2007 5:58 pm

Speaking of Joran on the beach…brought back a memory of when Joran returned once before from the Netherlands to Aruba and paraded up and down the beach with that blonde. You know that caused a great deal of attention by tourists and Aruban,s alike. Didn’t hear Rudy Croes say, Nobody Warned Me! Joran that he was real cock!

    63. Susan on December 17th, 2007 6:31 pm

Let’s hope with all the international laws that yes indeed, if Natalee is found on the ocean floor, the perps can be tried in the US. That’s a mighty big “if”.

Bob – I hope that camera crews (if allowed to film the search) will have the decency not to show the public any footage of possible remains.

Godspeed Persistence and crew! May God keep you safe and allow the family closure.

    64. JusticeforNatalee on December 17th, 2007 6:39 pm

      #51 Diana,

Adding to your idea–to those who want to leave copies of Beth’s book lying around as Diana suggested–if you can’t afford to buy new copies–there are used copies for sale on Amazon.

    65. brie on December 17th, 2007 6:57 pm

#56, Bob…let’s not worry about the next steps, let’s just pray for success with the first step-finding Natalee..well after everything that has happened it does make one question the outcome! I think it’s pretty normal to think beyond. No discredit to you…just my opinion. I only had a question as to what the US could do!

    66. Richard on December 17th, 2007 7:04 pm

I certainly hope that they don’t release unconfirmed information. Forget the media hype … don’t say anything until it’s certain.

Wonder if “sweaty boy” PvdS is losing water now?

    67. brie on December 17th, 2007 7:17 pm

Susan..I agree I would not want to see her remains.I think we have all come to love her dearly and would like to remember her as we saw her. I think all there cameras have to become visible but maybe spare us what we really don’t want to see!

    68. brie on December 17th, 2007 7:42 pm

I personally think Natalee is there…along with maybe others …Joran is a liar..nothing ever went wrong before..but maybe it did…and no one pursued it before…we don’t know….he’s such a liar…

    69. nurturer on December 17th, 2007 8:04 pm

#61 – If they find Natalee in ‘some container’, I wouldn’t mention it until the body is on it’s way to the US. The Aruban LE will try to claim jurisdiction and since such a find would be considered evidence, we all know they will do their best to squash anything that might lead to foul play considered. EVEN if they do find her in an crab trap, which I’m pretty sure she did not place herself into.

#66 – If they can keep Greta and Julia onshore, the hype should be minimal.

I’m sure after all it took for this deep water search to happen that it will be filmed to document every minute for legal reasons. Its possible that a distant view or an outline of the cage or container may be released to the public as confirmation that Natalee has indeed been found. I’m certain there will be no remains of Natalee shown out of respect for her and her family.

nurturer….thank you for posting the blogspot for the ship, it is so impressive and i’m so happy and honored that all aspects of the search are being documented and shared real time with us!

Though it sounds nice that someone here (can’t remember who) has said that a timeshare is available for people involved in the search makes me alittle uneasy. Not that the provider of the timeshare is shady but i just don’t trust Aruban’s and shudder to think of what they could do as in plant bugs in the room or something like that. I say the less ANY Aruban/Dutch know THE BETTER!~

    74. mayan_moons on December 17th, 2007 8:54 pm

Anyone know if the Aruban’s are trying to butt in or causing trouble in any way?

Has Jossey written about the arrival of the ship?
Is Jurine on the island? Prolly NOT! It would be interesting to know if all our perp’s & their cohort’s are hunkered down in their hidey holes whilst this search has begun.

    75. kayjay on December 17th, 2007 9:19 pm

Wonder if Jossy has done what he said he was going to do..i.e. order a complete review of the whole case from day one, and I assume publish it in his paper. I hope he does this..if he does reprints would be very useful to spread around. anyone know if he has done this yet?

    76. James on December 17th, 2007 9:24 pm

Aruba does not seem to understand that “their” savage predators took one of our United States citizens in the name of an 18 year old girl who was celebrating her joyous graduation from High School and entry into young adulthood headed for college. She’s gone. Her Mother is forever damaged by this loss. The number of “we found a break in the case” bullcrap over the years have taken the Hollowy Family to the highest high to the lowest and even lower. Aruba, you allowed the murder of one our beloved to be covered. That’s not your right. You will pay the price. You already have. And if you believe in GOD, HE has the last sayso. And I’m no hypocrite, I too will be judged.

Sometimes I wonder how the Van der Sloots & Kalpoes even sleep at night. If they were to take a Polygraph the machine would explode.

    77. brie on December 17th, 2007 9:29 pm

If she’s there they will find her…

    78. Bob on December 17th, 2007 9:47 pm

It is my sense that while the exact location of the early search quadrants remain unpublished to the outside world, for obvious reasons, the first several days will be needed to ‘map’ out the ocean floor. Existing reefs, underwater hulks, etc., need to be plotted afterwhich the sonar fish pinging equipment can start to become effective. The towed ‘fish’ needs to be glided at a certain depth above the ocean floor and drop-offs and unual floor bottoms cannot be planned at this time. The going may be slow at the onset.

If my understanding is correct, the first bit of usable detail should not occur probably before Thursday at the earliest. Fingers are crossed, candles have been lit. Godspeed to the TES captain, crew, and volunteers.

Mayan: “I’m certain there will be no remains of Natalee shown out of respect for her and her family.”

Hilarious – you have posted over and over graphic descriptions of how you believe she was raped and murdered.
And now you are worried about respect? You should’ve thought about that a year ago.

#75 Kayjay – Jossy will only do that when it serves some sort of political purpose for himself. imo.

    80. weasel on December 17th, 2007 10:03 pm

ok so they are doing this ocean search, but how reliable is the information they have that says she is in the ocean in the first place ?????

    81. Bob on December 17th, 2007 10:32 pm

Yo weasel. How reliable indeed. Perhaps some decent, upstanding, law abiding Aruban passed on a bit of information on the Q.T. Perhaps every single word uttered by the Unholy Three was examined under a microscope by experts. Perhaps a pattern developed that gave every indication that a location could be discovered. This case has not been scrutinized by a bunch of us blog jockeys. We just chat amongst ourselves, and create whatever chaos we can develop to keep ARUBA’s disgraceful inaction on everyones mind. We choose to publish BOYCOTT requests every week where it will do the most good. Forensic experts have put thousands of hours of examination, deduction, and research into narrowing down Natalee’s most likely resting place. Now it’s time get the fat lady to sing.

Nothing personal Aruba, it’s just business.

#51 – When Beths book came out, I bought 2 copies of it and after reading the book, I placed one copy in the library of my sons high school and the other in the library of his girlfriends high school. These kids will be graduating shortly and when it comes time for them to plan their graduation trip, I’d like them reminded of what can happen in some parts of the world. Frankly, I like their celebration to be held somewhere on American soil and heaven knows, we have some pretty awesome places to vacation.

I think in honor of the Persistance, I will go buy a few more copies and get them into my town library and the middle schools as well.

Posted by Anna in the forum/translated by DutchDad at BFN
      ———–
Short translation of the Jorg -article.

The unspoken thought behind the article in the Amigoe is that the Justice dpt should count in the damage Aruba could suffer by reopening the Holloway-case.
We – the OM – however are independent and although we realize what happens outside , we will not bough for orchestrated or orchestrated media-violence, certainly not when we think we might have the key in our hands to solve this crime.
Besides that , what is more damaging : not doing everything you can to solve it or trying as hard as you possibly can and fail?
A second point is the different language spoken by journalists and us.The Amigoe presents this case as a sort of sporting match , with a loser and a winner. That is also the image the American press creates: the OM against the Defense both with their own truth and a passive jury who decides who won the game.
That’s not how we operate , we have a judge who himself participates in the prices of finding the truth , and finally decides what IS the truth. The DA and the police simply provide the stones to build the truth.
That the DA and the judge can have different opinions on the question if the proof delivered is enough for a case does not mean the DA did a bad job.Because if a judge would always agree with the DA’s office , he would be no more than a rubber stamp.
Even if the DA’s office is uncertain about how a case will end , they sometimes must have the courage to take a case to court. Even if this means taking the risk of a not guilty sentence.
Finally , although we gave as much information as we could , the Amigoe missed one important thing:the DA’s office can only order a rearrest if there are new facts. So the only legal ground on which we could arrest the suspects for a second time was indeed because we had new evidence.
The judge who gave permission to the new arrests agreed that this evidence was new , otherwise the DA would simply not have been given green light.
At that moment we did not know if the interrogations about this evidence would provide enough to continue the case.
Finally the judge said it was not enough. This was of course also influenced by the suspects , who all chose to remain completely silent.
It is their right to do so , but that does not mean the DA should not confront them with the new evidence and try to make them react on it.
We could have simply asked them to come in , but they did not want to do that voluntarily.
After their first release the suspects stated that someday they would tell what had in fact happened.
Well ,we were very curious about that , and we did not want to wait until they someday might talk.
Would you all forgive us if we – after all this investigating and finally finding things that did not match former statements – had not put the key in the lock and tried to open it?
Would you forgive us if we had thought: well , it’s quiet now , let us do nothing? Sorry for the girl and her parents , but better for Aruba’s image?

      N.Jorg.

#67 – Brie, Agreed. I’d rather remember Natalee the way she was also. After two and a half plus years under water, God only knows what condition a body would be in after being subjected to the elements in the ocean :-( Maybe that’s the reason Dave decided not to go…he didn’t want any part of what could be a very gruesome recovery…

I never described how she was raped you fool. What i did do is describe defensive cuts on the hands that i saw in the basin bag and what looked to me like a gunshot wound to the forehead by a high caliber firearm. The DISrespect is what these SOB”S did to a sweet young girl not in my describing what i see in a film someone took in Aruba after she’s missing. Were the descriptions graphic………YES but i didn’t inflict them and unlike you i find NOTHING hilarious about any of this you imbecile.

    88. Mike on December 18th, 2007 3:37 am

I have to believe that if her body was where they were said to be looking that 1 of the three pricks would have started talking. I hope I am wrong. I believe Aruba has decided to close the case and take their lumps and hope tourism will recover over the next year. That is NOT going to happen. Even if they put the three pricks in jail and PVS also I would not ever go back there. I believe Aruba feels that a large majority of Americans feel the same way now after this last fiasco. I would think if Aruba wanted to try to show this was not a cover up they could find another judge. My God, do they just have one judge? I will never go back, none of my children will ever go and none of their children either, It will be 3 generations before any relief is seen. By then Aruba will be an outpost for Chavez. I am sure that when the time comes the US will go over there and protect their sorry asses but I personally am tired of protecting all of the ungrateful countries of the world. But I understand the reasons we do. I am tired of spending our money and soldiers lives protecting people that hate our guts. This septic tank called Aruba is so full of crap that it will never dissolve all of the shit and it will surely back up. I hope it drowns in all of it. I am FREE to choose where I go and I CHOOSE not to go to Aruba. It does not matter how many crimes are committed in the US. The only one that matters in this case is this one in Aruba. The Arubans do not have to come to the US. They have that choice also. But somehow I believe that their economy is going to be hurt a hell of a lot worse than mine. So they can all gripe, complain and try to compare the crime in the US to Aruba’s. That is their choice to make. But we do not get 75% of our nation’s economy from Arubans visiting the US. It has been over 2 years and they have not figured that out yet? Oh well…………….

    89. Dolf on December 18th, 2007 4:27 am

only if she was put in a container then a body will be found.

IF she was just tossed into the ocean, there is no way they will find her.

    90. Pearl on December 18th, 2007 9:25 am

89 – Dolph: “If”… is that where the so-called investigation is at now? We are up to the “ifs”?

Here’s an IF for you, Dolph: IF Aruba had any sense of a moral compass, IF Aruba had any empathy, or sense of compassion or integrity, IF there were honest people with integrity and HONOR conducting the so-called “investigation” on May 30, 2005 when Natalee was first reported missing – and where the ALE FAILED TO RESPOND, WHILE PAULUS WAS BUSY MEETING WITH VAN DER STRATEN, JORAN, DEEPAK AND SATISH, …IF there had been one shred of decency and respect for human life demonstrated by those charged with the “enforcement” of LAW, then Natalee would have been immediately found, and her family would not have suffered like this for two and a half long years. YOUR “IFS” HAVE NO MEANING.

To N.JORG: let’s be real clear about what “they” did. You want to call the most recent actions taken by Aruba’s prosecutor, – an attempt to “put in the key” and “turn it”?

It takes integrity, honor and courage to hold the keys, no less to place them into the “lock” and turn it, where it can unlock and release the morbid savagery that lies beneath what these devils did to a young innocent child and her beautiful family that begged your administrators and officials for HELP!

“THE GIRL” HAS A NAME, JORG.

      HER NAME IS NATALEE HOLLOWAY.
Remember her name well, because you will not be forgetting it for a very long time.

THERE IS A LARGE BOAT OUT IN THE OCEAN, AND IT IS THE BEARS OF HOPE ON THAT BOAT – WHO HOLD THE “KEYS”, – NOT THESE PERVERTED EXCUSES THAT YOU PROP UP AS ATTEMPTS AT “LAW ENFORCEMENT”, THAT YOU BRING OUT NOW, IN THE FINAL HOURS OF ARUBA’S DEPRAVITY AND IMMORAL CONDUCT.

DO YOU THINK THE COWBOYS ARE SUBJECT TO MORE OF THIS SAVAGE TRICKERY MADE TO LOOK LIKE A CONCERTED EFFORT AT INTEGRITY?

You hold neither her truth, nor any keys!
Your corrupt, immoral officials have neither the courage, nor the honor to hold this child’s keys!

And you will NOT crush this child’s voice, nor her cries to have her truth told, her suffering exposed to the world, her right to justice served, her voice – finally heard!

THE KEYS ARE IN THE HANDS OF THE PERSISTENCE!

Whether or not they find her, their heroism and integrity TELLS MORE about what “lies ahead” than anything that Aruba’s savages can ever reveal “one day”.

Mayan moons – #89, you keep on writing!

How typical it is, Mayan – that the shriveling shrieks of those who cannot stand to hear the crushing blows of Natalee’s truth being delivered and told, continue to gripe about the audacity and bold courage you take in NAMING THE SAVAGERY THEY INFLICTED UPON THIS CHILD!

But evil minded individuals dread truth, Mayan.

They can’t bear to hear the ugly sordid perversions of the truth in Aruba’s savagery towards Natalee and her loving family – being exposed and revealed for all to see.

They equate the tyranny of SILENCE with the false notion of “respect”!!!!

      RESPECT BEGINS IN TRUTH, MAYAN!
Don’t let that coward take your voice away!!!!

Rise up, Mayan and speak this child’s truth, and claim her right to be heard, her truth to be spoken, and her right to justice served!

TYRANNY TERROIZES THRU THE SILENCE OF COMPLICITY!!!!!!!!!!

NO MAN CAN TERRORIZE AN ENTIRE NATION, UNLESS WE ARE ALL HIS ACCOMPLICES!

      Go find YOUR accomplices, yoyo.
Sink into the tyranny of depravity and silence, or find a moral compass, and stand with those who raise their voices for Natalee’s truth, Natalee’s justice, Natalee’s right to come home!

      JUSTICE FOR NATALEE HOLLOWAY!

    91. Dolf on December 18th, 2007 9:57 am

yes Pearl IF, loads of IF

      nothing has been proved.

so there is a ship searching for a body that MAY have been disposed in the ocean PROBABLY by the suspects and MAYBE helped by his father.

I don’t think they will find her body unless she was put into a waterproof container which was heavied so it would sink.

If she was just tossed into the ocean she will never be found.

We are not in the US where you can be thrown in jail without reason and lawyer acces.

      deb, thats the problem.

There is only 1 person who really knows what happened

      Nattalee Holloway

      The others are suspects.

basicly everybody who claims he/she knows what happened are

      a) involved in the act itself.
      b) full of shit.

    95. mommytraveler on December 18th, 2007 10:52 am

No Dolf. Natalee Holloway is not the only one who knows what happened. Both Paulus and Joran have said that they know, but will not tell now because others would be hurt. And, Paulus and Joran have discussed it with Deepak and Satish BEFORE the Holloway family arrived on Aruba (read their police statements). So, five people know for sure – no, make that six – God knows, too. Justice will be delivered in one form or another to all who know and fail to confess their sins.

But here is something for all those threatened by Natalee’s truth to meditate on, Dolph: TYRANNY TERROIZES THRU THE SILENCE OF COMPLICITY!!!!!!!!!!
Let the accomplices to this depravity be driven out into the open, where Natalee’s voice can be heard!

No amount of tyranny will silence Natalee’s truth, Dolph. And Natalee’s truth is coming to Aruba.

Her truths will be spoken, her voice will be heard, and many will come to know her painful story of suffering and torment in Aruba – as a tourist.

Many will come to know the truths about Aruba: how tourists are targeted by predators on the island, where tourism attractions are used – with the full knowledge of public officials, who allow predators to lay traps for innocent young American children – using tourism properties, a practice carried out by evil, depraved men.

Imagine tourists learning that the hotel they had considered booking, is being used to lay traps to ensnare innocent young girls so that predators can set the plans for drugging them, and raping them, and the ultimate act of murdering them?

Natalee’s truth will be spoken and her voice will be heard, and her truth cannot be masqueraded as “hidden” and “unknown” because the depraved of Aruba murdererd her and silenced her ability to speak. Her truth cannot be buried, through some phoney attempts to suggest that traces of her suffering were never seen or noticed.

That’s just a fairy tale, or haven’t you heard?

The meeting: May 31, 2005 …early in the morning. And the other one that was held right before that?

I wonder: can size 14 “shoes” be seen at the bottom of the ocean? What about a “missing cell phone”, or an Alabama driver’s license belonging to Natalee Holloway?

Mayan Moons, keep speaking out for Natalee’s right to justice!

      JUSTICE FOR NATALEE HOLLOWAY!

      Pearl

      a) Dolph isn’t really a name, does look like dolphin, which those guys on that boat will see swimming by.

      b) deep ocean searching is all about IF, to disregard this is a big slap in the face of the ppl searching using the boat. They are searching for a needle in a haystack(??)

and about those truth about Aruba, it maybe so, but it goes for all the places in the world where tourists go.

    98. Richard on December 18th, 2007 11:42 am

I ask again: if the water search does NOT produce evidence of Natalee’s remains, will people be more inclined to think that she might have been taken off of Aruba for sexual slavery?

(Which would not prove that she was still alive, but it would certainly be possible.)

    99. Amsterdam 020 on December 18th, 2007 11:43 am

I’m sure on behalf of all the so-called ‘trolls’, I sincerely hope that the Persistence finds Natalee or better yet, that she is still alive. Whoever may be involved in her dissapereance.

(but Pearl, wazzup with all the caps?)

How right you are Pearl, these people are evil and are running as far and as fast from the truth as they can but you & i know that the truth always catches up to you eventually don’t we. When the truth finally steamroll’s over these goon’s it won’t be a day to soon for me!

I’ve said it before that the reason they had to dispose of Natalee is because they knew when the American’s saw the horrible way they treated her little body that our collective iron fist would come smashing down on their heads as if they were gnats.

deb…..hon if i knew exactly where dear Natalee was i would’ve divulged it with her parents 2 1/2 years ago. Now that Aruba has closed the case just as the ship is about to begin the side scan sonar search tells me that she is in the deep waters and God willing she WILL be found.

If I am not mistaken, if a crime is committed by
a citizen of Aruba in Aruba, they will not be
      extradited as suspects.
