Ever wonder why we read and see so many cases of teen and pre-teen girls and boys 
sexually assaulted, raped and murdered? The answer lies in our pathetic legal system and judges that should have their heads examined, then thrown off the bench. Richard W. Thompson, the too short sex offender, had his probation upheld. That’s correct. Our legal system has decided that a convicted sex offender should not serve jail time because he is too short. They also deemed that be would not re-offend, he was not a sexual predator, nor a pedophile. Huh? So much for victims rights.
OMAHA, Neb. – A judge had valid reasons for sentencing a 5-foot-1 sex offender to probation, even though she cited the offender’s height as part of her rationale, the Nebraska Court of Appeals ruled Tuesday. An examination by a clinical psychologist and the results of a test used to determine the risk that Richard W. Thompson would reoffend both indicated that Thompson, 52, is neither a pedophile nor a sexual predator, the court said. (Yahoo News)
Then what would one call a person who sexually assaults a 13 year old girl? We would call him a predator, a sex offender/predator and a pedophile. However, in this case all definitions are turned on their heads.
Last year this piece of garbage was sentenced to 10 years probation for sexually assaulting a 13 year old girl. District Judge Kristine Cecava of Cheyenne County stated the following during sentencing, “I shake to think what might happen to you in prison because I don’t think you’ll do well in prison.” Honestly, who cares what happens to a sex offender who assaults a 13 year old girl. So are we to presume that the judge does not shake when a 52 year old man violates a 13 year old girl? What is going on in our society that such actions are deemed acceptable and not appropriately punished?

Perhaps we should license judges to be judges like lawyers, doctors, engineers, and other highly skilled public professionals who supposedly work for the public good. That way, morons like this could be ‘disbarred’ for doing stupid things like this.
Somehow, over the years ‘innocent until proven guilty’ has been translated to also mean ‘victims have fewer rights than the accused’.

Just wondering … how tall is the judge?
(Full disclosure: I’m 5’2″, and I think this ruling is the most stupid thing that I have heard of. Well, that’s hard to say these days. I don’t suppose the same ruling would be in place if a judge’s family were attacked ….)
The test showed that this guy is not likely to re-offend.
Uh … if the test proves to be inaccurate, who will pay the penalty?

Is it illegal to print pictures of the judge? Where’s the picture goodness? If we could just hold up pictures of the cogs in the machine that make the machine not work, the cogs might decide to see other employment. As a people, we’re just not morally outraged enough.
You can be morally right and legally wrong. That’s why our legal system is out of control. It’s not an intellectual argument. It’s a justice argument.
Just curious – What is the minimum heighth for going to prison in Nebraska? A douch bag 6’1 isn’t going to be too damn safe either. (Nor should they be – that’s how deterrents work)
Yes this law system is screwed up. I hate judges with penis pumps and judges that seem to be unable to do the right thing.
If scum like that go free time to change the damn law. If I was judge and let him go I would be crucified, now its time to crucify that judge. What the real problem is people like you and me have very little control over the law or any influence to make a difference in that case or another.

Another classic example of a liberal activist judge losing sight of reality and all since of right vs. wrong. If the judge believed that this pint sized pedophile would be in danger in prison, then she could have ordered special confinement away from the general population. There was no need to so ignore the justice owed the victim and her family as to let this predator back into society ‘for his safety’. It is courts such as these and judges such as Cecava that make a strong argument for the vigilantly. I have no doubt that she will order a 24/7 restraining order against the girls family least they say or do something to hurt Thompson’s feeling or his since of self worth……

Since when does the size of someone have anything to their sentence. He committed the crime, tall, short, fat, skinny, that judge needs to step down. Who cares what happens to him in prison? If it’s such a concern for the judge then use the needle. Preferred method according to civilization. SUCKS!

I live in Omaha and this case is an embarrassment to the community and the legal system. But then again, we’re the same place that gave you the judge that refused to allow the word “rape” to be used in a sexual assault trial recently. What the hell is going on with our judges?? A rampant case of dumbass? I think most of our community would agree if “you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.” Perhaps this cretin should have considered the consequences of his actions. Having committed the crime, the effects of the imposed penalty is none of anyone’s concern. He gets what he gets…..

I thought this “judge’s” decision was being appealed by the DA’s office? What happened?
This so-called judge is a manic to society and must be dis-barred. I won’t even trust her to make a decision to order food in a restaurant.
The way I see this is, if you rape, you give up your rights as a human being. Jail will be too kind. Do what the Chinese do… a rusty bullet between the eyes.
