Jessica Lunsford: Mark Lunsford To John Evander Couey, “I hope you hear her cry as you try to sleep at night.”

At a court appearance yesterday where convicted child killer and sex offender John Jessica lunsfordCouey was attempting to be spared the death penalty, Mark Lunsford put forth the cold hard facts and stated why he felt Couey should be put to death. John Couey’s attorneys are trying to say that Couey is mentally retarded to spare him the needle. For what this man did that was so henous stoning should be made the exception in this case.

“I hope you hear her cry as you try to sleep at night.”

“You will never hurt another child again,” Lunsford said in testimony Tuesday in a Florida court hearing where a judge will decide whether to give Coueyheinous the death penalty

”For 29 months, my daughter has heard me cry and begged God to stop the pain in my heart.”

For anyone who has followed the case of 9 year old Jessica Lunsford and  Mark Lunsford’s efforts to help pass Jessica’s Law, to hear Mark Lunsford on the witness stand was powerful and emotional.

“I hope you see the tears at night when she asked you [if she could] go home. You will never hurt another child again.”

“I can remember when she was about 1 year old and would give me kisses and hugs and steal the raisins from my cereal,” (CNN)

John Couey personifies evil and … evil has no regrets … evil lacks compassion and … evil lacks a conscience.

Let me be the first to say that John Couey is the reason I believe in the death penalty. He wasn’t mentally handicapped, he was a drug-addicted sexual predator that preyed on little girls.

      I couldn’t agree more.
Death penalty…..and the needle is just to humane IMO.

Sleeping with the Enemy was a good movie that offered insight into how evil a person (husband in this case) can be and still justify their heinous actions against an innocent.

Appears many in America are asleep…and the enemies are alive, well AND growing in numbers (i.e. child killers/molester, murders, theives, drug dealers, illegal aliens, terrorists, socialists claiming to be Democrats…) We are in a spritual/moral war. I’m ready to fight. Who else can plainly see that we the PEOPLE are going to be the ones to take matters into our own hands in the end? It’s offensively clear the laws do not protect us. Only make a pathetic appeal for justice after the fact. Then, any savvy defense lawyer can twist and contort the TRUTH in order to show the innocence of the “poor perpetrator”.

God help us….and God bless Mark Lunsford and his family in this STILL horrible time. I am thankful he is taking up his sword and joining the fight against evil. God speed to you Mark…we are SM ARE listening and support you 100%.

Meant for this to be in my previous post in regard to the scummy…I mean savvy defense lawyers who actually WANT to defend a child killer.

      ************

Taken from CNN front page article:

The judge ruled the confession was inadmissible in court because Couey had asked for a lawyer the day before he told police he committed the crime.

I am TOTAL agreement with Mrs RED #3 and also Brenda #4 that the needle is far too humane for a child sexual predator
LET HIM FEEL just a portion of the terror that the child felt as ” Well you know ” I cant even type it .

Just think … if Couey is given life in prison, extra security guards will no doubt be necessary to protect the animal from fellow prisoners who will also want him dead.

What an irony: the clearest moral vision, those with the clearest idea of what punishment is just and proper, are those who are in prison for offenses against society.

And those who would prevent this basic justice being done are those who are in charge of the justice … pardon my mistake … the LEGAL system.

    9. Richard on July 18th, 2007 12:12 pm

“Couey had asked for a lawyer …”

I’m tempted to quote the proverb about birds of a feather….

    10. Richard on July 18th, 2007 12:15 pm

      Couey was mentally retarded?

He broke into the house, kidnapped the girl, kept her confined for days, and buried her.

He was capable of forming a plan to carry out this atrocity.

He would be capable of doing it again.

Pardon my language, but … Jesus Goddamn Christ, isn’t this ability clear enough? He formulated a plan to kidnap and assault a child, leave her buried alive, and (in a detail that haunts me forever) gave her a plastic blue dolphin toy before burying her?

If this doesn’t deserve death, what does?

    11. Richard on July 18th, 2007 12:28 pm

Just one more thing before I shut up … just think of all the other parents who have also lost their children, and whose causes get no attention, elicit no public outcry, and for whom justice will never be done.

We are all incensed by atrocities like this, and rightly so.

But it’s important to remember that every child’s life has value (as if anyone needed to be reminded of that), and that ANY murder or abuse of a child needs punishment.

Otherwise, we might be in the position of those who see the tip of the iceberg without thinking about the vast bulk of it that is underwater. (Maybe the metaphor is obscure, but you get my point.)

    12. mrs. red on July 18th, 2007 12:30 pm

Richard… this action of Couey’s has nothing to do with Christ… that is pure Satan. I personally want to see him buried alive… just like what he did to Jessica… in this instance, I am all about “an eye for an eye”…

John Couey deserves to die the same way his innocent victim did! Keep the creep in with the general population, allowing the other murderers, rapist, etc, complete access to rape him thousands of times each day. After a few years of torturious hell and torment, permit the general population to bury the sick pervert alive in a plastic bag, just like he did little Jessie. “An eye for an eye” and “a tooth for a tooth”. SHOW NO MERCY!!

      JUSTICE FOR JESSICA :-)

    14. Richard on July 18th, 2007 12:51 pm

I wouldn’t for a second object to that same punishment.

I came back here because I did a little research, and found out something else that’s horrible … Jessica was found buried behind the house of Couey’s half-sister (don’t remember her name).

And other people (well, by some definitions maybe they were people) were living in the trailer where Couey kept Jessica confined, I believe.

I don’t even want to think that others might have known what was going on, even while Jessica was still alive, and wouldn’t have gone to the police … or taken action on their own.

      I mean, I can’t think that.

Even as I think of a possible parallel in Aruba.

    15. Janet on July 18th, 2007 1:17 pm

Justice implies the balancing of the scales … the punishment equates the crime. Therefore … logic dictates … the abolition of the death penalty renders the scales unbalanced. The life of the victim is devalued when grace is bestowed on the murderer.

God Bless the Lunsford family. How eloquently Jessie’s father spoke. There is truly only one way to prevent this monster from torturing another child and their family, and that’s removing him from this earth.

I plead with the Judge to pass the death sentence for John Couey, and set the earliest possible date to carry out his execution.

    17. JusticeforNatalee on July 18th, 2007 2:12 pm

He has no conscience nor any concern for Jessica’s crying.

However, he will cry like a coward when it’s time for his OWN
      execution.

    18. mayan_moons on July 18th, 2007 2:15 pm

Thank God the judge upheld the jury’s verdict as this monster who put that beautiful little girl in garbage bags and placed her in a hole that would become her grave and THAT was Couey’s intention. That the hole he dug was to be Jessica’s grave.

When i see her sweet little face i can’t help but cry, and when i see Mark’s face i can’t help but be so proud of him.
When i see Couey’s face i wanna rip that pos to shreds with my 45.

    19. Brie on July 18th, 2007 2:31 pm

I also think of the same parallel in Aruba….watching the haunting evidence…could Joran of smothered Natalee in the sand because she started to scream, could Natalee of been in a coma and they thought she was dead. We don’t really know.

Just a question, does anyone know how Joran killed his dog?
I read where he threw him in the damn, was he alive or dead?

As far as couey….who wants to pay taxes to keep him alive in jail…let the crime be the punishment! He is not of the human race.

    20. Wendy on July 18th, 2007 4:54 pm

I hope this vile pos is ripped apart in prison, as he deserves nothing less. May they NOT have mercy on him.

Couey is reason for the death penalty.

    21. Bun on July 18th, 2007 6:00 pm

Public flogging and/or beheading come to mind for this type of crime. Prison is too good for this type of scum..

    22. the mama on July 18th, 2007 7:17 pm

I’m a Democrat, but am definately for the death penalty because of monsters like Couey. Unfortunately for Mark Lunsford, the pain in his heart will never go away no matter what happens to Couey. I pray that he sees his daughter’s smile when he tries to go to sleep at night while Couey hears her cry.

    23. Richard on July 18th, 2007 8:07 pm

Brie (19) … The parallel I was thinking of was of Natalee being held captive on a boat or in some remote building (such as Lorenzo van Rijn’s house) and “shared” among the Pimps. Possibly, like Jessica, kept bound and gagged in the meantime, or maybe doped up on heroin.

Does it sound too unbelievable? Jessica was kept for two days almost virtually across the street from her own home.

    24. Kat_Gram on July 18th, 2007 8:30 pm

Please pray for the Lunsford family.
      Jessica Lunsford touched many lives.
Mark, Ruth Archie have conducted themselves with grace and class, so I kow they are walking on a path with God.
When I heard he news that Jessie had been found, I was in my kitchen. CNN carried the news and I felt as if I was going to go down.
Mark is also helping others with the example he sets.

    25. Brie on July 18th, 2007 8:37 pm

Richard(23)…No it doesn’t sound too unbelievable at all!

What made me think of smothering was watching her face being pushed into the sand, in the video. But like everything else…who knows!

There are so many things revolving around Natalee’s case. Alot of money exchanging hands, alot of gov’t and police corruption, fear, you name it, we can look in all directions and think of all different scenerios. I just wish we could the find the truth. But I don’t discount any possibility.

    26. kate on July 18th, 2007 9:00 pm

If anyone ever deserved to be stoned, it’s Couey! Why should we have to pay to incarcerate this animal for the rest of his life? Only when the penalty begins to fit the crime, will we see a decline in crimes committed against our children.

    27. kate on July 18th, 2007 9:03 pm

Attorneys will stoop to just about anything to win a court case. Anyone who knows anything about “mentally handicapped” individuals knows that just because a person has below average intelligence, it doesn’t make him capable of committing a horrendous crime against a human being. The should have stated mentally deranged, or just plain EVIL!

One wonders whether the Pedophile Party of the Netherlands will seek to intervene in this trial. Remember them, the group that obtained status as a legitimate political party?

    32. Rene on July 19th, 2007 7:27 am

Anyone who hurts, neglects, abuses, molests or kidnaps a child should have a special place in HELL. I can’t imagine the pain that many parents suffer due to losers such as Couey. Children look to adults to protect and cherish them. Children are a gift from God and they are NOT to be abused or used for any purpose. May he and others like him rot in hell. I have no pity for those who abuse children.

    33. Katablog on July 19th, 2007 10:42 am

Mark Lundsford, Beth Twitty and Dave Holloway carry the same pain in their face and eyes. All have demonstrated a class I don’t think I could possible have within me while facing their daughters’ killers.

Their little girls are in heaven now, but the family must bear the pain for years to come. I can’t even imagine it.

    34. Maggie on July 19th, 2007 5:30 pm

This story is like the Danielle VanDamme case. It’s so unbelieveable such evil people exist. It makes one cry every time we read about it. I’m not for the death penalty usually. I think some people lose it once and awhile and do something they regret later. I was once told that we are all capable of murder if given the right circumstances. In this case as with all child molesters usually, they repeat and repeat and repeat because they are turned loose until they kill a victim. I think laws are failing our kids as much as judges. How about 1 strike you are out for child molesters. I think the judge should show this piece of trash the same mercy he showed Jessica. He deserves the same fate as David Westerfield.. and all the others.

RIP Jessica and we keep you all in our thoughts and prayers.

    35. Lorraine on July 19th, 2007 10:15 pm

Mark Lunsford shows strength and grief as he pleads for the death penalty for the vicious monster who so cold-bloodedly tortured and murdered his child in such a horrible way. The penalty should automatically be death. but if not, it should be left up to the suffering parent to decide, for it is he who must live with the worst pain of all for the rest of his life, the pain of burying a murdered child, unimaginable…..give him whatever justice or comfort for which he asks, for he too is a victim, a surivivng victim…… surviving to suffer the rest of his life!

And do you think for one moment Couey thinks with remorse over what he did to that beautiful, innocent, helpless child??? No, he does NOT!!!! I have heard him describe what he did, so matter of factly, such a horrible thing to do to a child, such a monsterous thing, too terrible to think about…..and he relates it as if it was nothing…no conscience….no compassion…. Hell is the place for him.

    36. dihannah1 on July 19th, 2007 11:39 pm

I saw a clip today and it tore at my heart. The evil of that man is NOT retarted, but like everybody else agrees, a drug addicted, sex offender at it’s worse. He ‘BURIED THAT BABY ALIVE’!!! Sometimes I think the death penalty lets these monsters off to easy. He should be put through the same pain, fear and terror he put that poor little girl through for the rest of his living days. THEN he can face the judgement of God!

God Bless Mr. Lunsford, as I’m sure he will hear his daughters cries the rest of his life and he never deserved this horror either. I can’t begin to imigagine thinking of my children or ANY child going through! The evil of most evil!

    37. MuffyBee on July 20th, 2007 12:45 am

Retarded or not, Couey knew right from wrong. And what he did to little Jessica was wrong, wrong, so wrong. He deserves to be punished to the max. I don’t know how Mark Lunsford makes it day to day, knowing how his little girl was treated and how she died at the hands of the monster, Couey. And Mark Lunsford has to stand and look at Couey in a courtroom and try to convince the court to give Couey the death sentence. What about Couey’s family? The ones that LIED for him? They are guilty too.

    38. Glaswegian on July 20th, 2007 5:42 am

As the mother of a child lost to leukemia I find that Mark Lunsford makes me feel absolutely humble. I cannot even imagine the depth of the sorrow and anger he feels. The strength and honor he has shown through this horror is just amazing. Like some of the others parents of murdered or missing children he has taken his anger and channeled it into something amazing — Jessica would be proud.

    39. Brenda on July 20th, 2007 8:33 am

Maggie, I agree with all you said except one thing.

I must disagree 100% every person would be capable of murder under certain circumstances. I would NEVER cold blooded murder. Would be my ticket to hell and NO thank you!!

If you are speaking of self-defense in the “right circumstances”…YES…but that is NOT murder. I would defend myself or family in a split second against a TRUE cold blooded killer….hopefully NOT feeling anger but sadness over what I would have to do.

Those of us that have a belief in God and believe he is rightous understand all murders are not going to be wearing halos….to be a murder you must kill in hate, greed, or other selfish reasons. Killing in self-defense will never be murder.

I hope I only misunderstood you. Tell me if I did.

      Brenda

Why don’t they bury him alive like he did the little puting him in Jail he will be geting 3 free meals a day .giving a shot to kill he feels no pain,or the will put him on death row and he will be there the rest of his life

      Dearest Mark and Family:

I work as a youth coordinator for the YMCA through Americorps. I have soo much respect for other peoples’ children from seeing all types of families over the years.
Please know that there is nothing you could have done and your daughter is safe with something better.
As for the change you MAKE in society…that IS SO IMPORTANT and I look up to you soooo much for that.

THanks for being born and strong.

For Couey> Nothing less than putting the electric chair in the gas chamber is what you deserve.

For Mark> There are no words to heal you! Just know that you will see Jessica again one day, but she sees you everyday and I am quite sure she would say “Daddy, I am better than ok now, please don’t cry for me, I’ll see you when you get here, live your life and live it well. I love you” Jess.
God Bless you and your family.
