Until now there have been some 50.000 people that have requested for or downloaded the donorregistration-forms. In six weeks it will be clear how many new donors that brings. If only 10% of them become donors that’s some 5000. If 10% of that stand for one life saved… That’s some 500. I wonder… Was that worth it?
I’m sure the recipients of such organs would think so. But if we accept what we’re told … that the whole thing was a way of giving the problem dramatic attention … it would still seem that it could have been done more tastefully.

I agree Richard. It would have been better if it could have been done more tastfully. But the number of donors symply was way.., WAY to low. It was time to kick the people and the government under the butt.
I think the government should make a law were everyone is organ- and tissuedonor accept when you absolutely don’t want to be that (for instance because of religious grounds).
Dana, we don’t make TV for international approval, we make TV for the Dutch public and they highly approved of it (at least those 1.2 million that watched it and at the moment the “dying woman” was supposed to choose it was 1.7 million people).
The youthful viewers it was intended to reach graded the show with a 8.4 out of 10 and even 50 and overs gave it a 7 out of 10 grade.
On the internet the show has been viewed by an additional 50,000 viewers also.
Oh yes, and it was not revealed to be a hoax before it aired but just before the woman was supposed to choose the most deserving person for her kidney
